Remus wandered over to the notice board. He felt like he needed to join a new group. Something to do when James and Sirius where in detention. He looked at the different options, wondering why some of them were even groups.

Gobstones club, Quidditch, choir practice, ravenclaw book club, open book club, bell ringers, roll playing, chess, slytherin Shakespeare group, drama group, Gryffindor dare group, lgbtqia group, hufflepuff gardening group (other houses welcome) magical pets care group, defence against the dark arts group, poetry club, star gazing, swimming, art club, muggle born support group, rubber ducks foundation (please come, I'm The only member-Arthur), bird spotting, potions research group, slytherins are slimy slugs group (no slytherins allowed) , krumple horned snorcack spotters association (current members: xenophilius lovegood) the voldermort appreciation club, and, last but not least, the knitting group.

Reading through the list, Remus decided to join the defence against the dark arts club. It seemed the best option. He looked at the time table for it, and noticed the next meet was in ten minutes, in the library.

Remus sprinted down the hall, running all the way to the library. He waked inside. "hi." he said. The group was rather small. The only person their whom Remus recognised was Snape. "Hello. I'm Dolores Umbridge." a rather plump 5th year, wearing a hideous pink dress, said.

"hi. I'm Remus. Remus Lupin." Remus replied. "welcome to my group. Here, I'm going to teach you all about fearsome half breeds. And how we can protect ourselves from them. He he" she gave a little laugh. "could you all introduce yourself please?" she said to the group. "this is only the second week, Remus, you haven't missed much. Last week we covered vampires."

"I'm Snape. Slytherin, first year." Remus had of course, recognised Snape. "I'm Gilderoy Lockhart, second year, extremely accomplished at defence against the dark arts, dating Sybil Trelawney, I killed a troll when I was eight, and" "I'm Barty Crouch Jr. I'm technically too young to be a pupil at Hogwarts, I'm only ten, but I'm taking my first year a year early as I'm very smart."

"I'm Amycus Carrow. 5th year." said a rather thin boy with greasy hair. The last pupil spoke. "I'm Quirinus Quirrel, pleasure to meet you all." Dolores smiled. "well. What a lovely little group. I'm sure we'll all be the very best friends."

Remus highly doubted that. The way she had said half breed had set all his alarm bells off.

"today, we'll be learning all about werewolves, and what to do if you suspect there is one near you." she said.

Remus almost died. He couldn't walk out now, it would look to suspicious. He would have to sit through the group. "werewolves are a very fierce creature, they have no humanity. Lets go round, saying what you would do if you met a werewolf. Snape, you first."

"well, I'd probably be scared, and have it removed from my local area by contacting the ministry and reporting it as dangerous. I'd claim it had threatened me." Snape said. Remus felt as if his skin was on fire, the blood burning to the surface, trying to burst out.

"Mr crouch, you next." Crouch shrugged. He seemed rather bored. "I'd give them an option. Either, they can spend their entire life in azkaban, or they can work for me. Do what I want them too. If they chose that option, I'd offer them rewards for everything they did right. Its very easy to get people like werewolves to join teams, sides in war. In my opinion, it was Grindelwalds crucial error. If he had offered werewolves and giants more freedom and rights, they would have joined him"

Umbridge looked furious. "Mr Crouch! Werewolves are far too dangerous a creature to befriend." Remus could not help but think that at least if the rest of Hogwarts tried to kill him, Crouch might at least get him out of their alive. Even if it did come with a price.

"Mr Lupin, your opinion?" Remus felt himself begin to slide into a panic. His vision went blurry, and he couldn't breathe. "I… I'd ask it if we could be friends." he said it in a joky manner, like many 11 year old boys would. They didn't need to know he was serious, that he would love a friend who was a werewolf.

"Mr Lupin!" Umbridge yelled. "honestly! This is a very serious matter! No joking! Werewolves hide amongst us, threatening our children! And you turn this into a joke."

Remus felt like he ought to speak up, to defend his people. But his book said dont if it would put him in danger.

Whenever it is safe, it is always a good idea to speak up for your people. Defend them. Teach others that you are not a monster. If more people are taught that, more people will believe it. However, if it puts you in danger, if it might show others what you are, then keep silence. There is a time and a place for telling the world you arent evil, and if it might kill you, do not do it.

Remus figured now was one of these times.

"screw this group!" Lockhart said loudly. "Umbridge, its meant to be a bit of fun." "yeah. I wont be returning." Crouch said. One by one, the group, including Remus, all left, all saying the same thing.

None of them would be returning to Umbridges hate group.
