Chapter 22: Another unit (SVU Crossover, part 1)

As both of them got in the car, they drove to NYU. THey sat in silence, both knew this case is difficult to prove but they were determined to get justice for those girls, but there was something else in Baez's mind, the last victim was in 2018 so it means that another victim might turn up soon and that worried her even more…

As they arrived at NYU they saw two black explorers at the parking lot, that seemed weird in Danny's mind, they walked to the entrance and headed towards the records desk then they were greeted by a tall, white italian-american male with a nice suit followed by a blonde female with blue eyes that were exiting

"What's this?" He whispers to Baez.

"I don't know." She answered as they approached the desk.

"Detectives you're here again?" THe lady asked.

"Yeah, we need the files of what teachers were teaching a class that Victoria Hastings was in." Baez answered.

"Well the other detectives took those files." The lady said in confusion.

"What detectives?" Danny asked.

"The ones who exited the building." The lady answered.

"What did they say?" Baez asked.

"They said they are with SVU." The lady answered.

"Okay, thanks." Danny said and they both started walking to the exit, they walked out and both explorers were gone and they entered their vehicle, as they started driving they started to go to the 16th Precinct.

"What does Special Victims have to do with this?" Baez said in confusion.

"Let's go and ask." Danny answered as they back out and started going to the 16th Precinct.

Once they arrived, they went to the Desk Sergeant and waited in line and then time passed

"Detectives Baez and Reagan from 54th Detectives Squad, we need to speak with SVU." Danny said.

"Go to the 3rd floor." The Desk Sergeant said and they started walking to the elevator. Baez pressed the button for the 3rd floor and the doors closed and the elevator went up. When it reached it's destination both exited it and walked to the CO's desk and knocked on the door.

"Come in." The Captain said.

"Hello, Ma'am. We are Detectives Baez and Reagan from the 54th Detectives Squad, we were looking into an cold case of a serial killer we went to the University where all victims were studying in and we wanted the professor's registry for one professor who went to the same class one victim did." Baez said.

"Okay, how may I help you?" The Captain asked.

"Once we got there, we realized that it was taken by SVU Detectives." Danny continued.

"Oh you mean the Campus Killings at NYU, yeah we are looking into that sometimes SVU takes cold cases that involve female victims and investigate, I assigned it to Detectives Carisi and Rollins."

"Where can we find them?" Baez asked.

"They are probably at the diner down the block." The Captain said.

"Okay thank you, Captain." Danny answered.

"Have a nice night." Captain Benson answered.

"You too." Baez responded.

Both of them now exiting the Precinct, they walked to the diner down the block and spotted the both detectives exiting the diner, so they approached them.

"Excuse me." Danny yelled.

"Can I help you?" The tall man with a obvious New York accent answered.

"Detectives Reagan and Baez, 54th Detectives Squad. You're Detectives Carisi and Rollins?" Baez asked.

"Yeah, what's this about?" Detective Rollins asked.

"It's about the campus killings in NYU, I understand you were looking into the case as well." Danny said.
"Yeah, we got the professor's registry to see who was in all of the three victim's classes since we just started looking into the case." Detective Carisi answered.

"Yeah, we should go inside and talk." Danny said and all four head inside and sat down at a booth.

After they started talking and exchanged intel on the case, they started asking questions to eachother.

"So your prime suspect is Alex Withmour?" Carisi asked.

"Yeah, he supposedly has alibis on all murders. But he did said he left early in June and went to the hospital for a foot injury, we were gonna go there first but we decided to look into a answer Mr. Withmour said during an interview that Victoria Hastings had a relationship with a NYU professor." Baez answered.

"Wow." Rollins said, surprised.

"I think we should work together." Carisi said.

"I agree, how about you guys take the hospital and you give us the registry to look into."

"Alright, let's do it."

After they gave the files to Danny and Baez, they left and went back to their house. They walked into the door tired and set the files on the floor and starting cross examine the files to see who would be the possible professor who victoria dated, after they found a name from the registry, Danny got a call on his cellphone and answered.

"Reagan." Danny said into the phone.

"Hey, it's Detective Carisi. About that Foot Injury, no one by the name Alex Withmour was admitted into the Presbytarian Hospital for a Foot Injury so yeah."

"Good work, we'll go pay another visit to Mr. Withmour as for you guys, we might have the professor who Victoria dated, name's Nick Morales. He lives at Brooklyn Heights" Danny said.

"Okay we'll get back to you." Carisi said and he hang up. As he hung up, Carisi turned to Rollins.

"We are going to Brooklyn Heights." Carisi said as he started the engine up.

"Why?" Amanda asked.

"Because the professor who allegedly dated Victoria lives there. Name's Nick Morales." Sonny answered.

"Alright let's go." Rollins said and Carisi drove to Brooklyn Heights, as they crossed the Brooklyn bridge, they arrived at the apartment the professor lived in, they walked up the stairs and knocked on the door, a man answered.

"Can I help you?" The man answered.

"Are you Nick Morales?" Carisi asked.

"Yeah, what's this about?" Morales asked.

"Detectives Carisi and Rollins, Special Victims." Carisi said as he showed his shield.

"What's going on?" Morales asked.

"May we come in?" Amanda answered with a smile.

"Sure." Morales answered and he led them into the home and they all sat."

"You knew Victoria Hastings?" Rollins asked.

"Yeah, terrible thing what happened to her." Morales sighed and he kind of got nervous and sad at the same time.

"I'll cut to the chase. Did you date Victoria while you were her professor?" Carisi cut in.

"I told myself if anyone came around asking, I would tell the truth. Yes, we dated." Morales said with another sigh.

"Were you together at the day of her murder?" Rollins asked.

"No, we had a big fight about something and she went to a specific cry shoulder by the name of Alex Withmour, another NYU Professor. That's the last time I saw her" Morales answered with a sad look as he remembered.

"They knew each other that close?" Carisi asked with a surprised look.

"Yeah, he was her teacher and mentor." Morales answered.

"Okay thank you, if you think of anything else here's my card." Carisi said and he gave him his card, then both detectives head out and called Danny, told him the information they got and everything Morales said.

"Okay, thanks Carisi." Danny said as they drove to Withmour's apartment.

"Guess what, Withmour was close with Victoria Hastings." Danny said.

"Not shocked." Baez answered as they arrived to their destination. They entered the building and went up to the apartment, finding it open. They drew their guns and saw the house was empty and all clothes were gone.

"He's on the run. Let's call Real Time Crime, get the works." Danny said and Baez went outside.

"Detective Baez, 54 Detectives we need footage from around Alex Withmour's apartment, also inform PAPD, TSA and all law enforcement agencies that we are looking for an Alex Withmour, please flag his credit cards, passport. Get the works." Baez told into the phone and then hung up.
