"I'm sorry Adrien, I'm in love with someone else."
He stopped the dance, staring at her in shock. He thought he would finally get the chance to be with her. She had liked him for all these months and now she doesn't? He didn't understand.
"C-can't you at least tell me who it is?"
"No… h-he has to keep his identity a secret," Marinette looked at his hurt expression and she let out a heavy breath. She started to leave before turning back. "I'm… I'm sorry," Adrien raised an arm to stop her but it fell to his side as he watched her scamper away.
Marinette ran home as fast as her heeled feet would take her. Tears streamed down her face as she brushed past her concerned parents and up to her room. She sobbed into her pillow, mascara running down her face. Guilt filled her as Adrien's heartbroken face replayed in her mind with every blink. Tikki slowly came out to her, rubbing a small hand on her back.
Marinette hadn't expected Adrien to confess; she thought her one-sided love would die down on its own and she would move on. She hated that she hurt him. He was her first love and an amazing friend.
"I'm so confused Tikki," Tikki wiped a tear as it trailed down Marinette's cheek.
"You can't help how you feel, Marinette it's better to tell the truth," Marinette sniffled and nodded. She knew it was the right thing to do but it sure as hell did hurt.
Adrien stood on the dance floor. Someone knocked into him, snapping him back to reality. He didn't know how long it had been since she left. He numbly walked outside, suddenly feeling claustrophobic. There was a couple sitting on the bench, blushing and cuddling. Adrien rolled his eyes, stepping behind the school to transform. He needed some fresh air.
Chat Noir sat atop the building, staring towards the little bakery to the right of the school. Tears welled in his eyes. He had held in his emotions for far too long. He missed the days where they were happy, chatting on her balcony.
Who? Who could she be in love with? Anger grew in his heart along with jealousy. He wanted only one thing and of course, with his luck, he couldn't have it. He gripped the skin over his heart, trying to quell the emotional pain out with the physical.
An akuma fluttered in front of him, landing on the bell around his neck. Chat didn't even budge as the voice rang out in his head.
"I am Shadow Moth, you can destroy the one she loves and make her yours forever if you get me the miraculouses." Chat agreed as his suit turned white, his pale skin bright in the night. His icy blue eyes now matching his ice-cold heart. He jumped from the building and towards Marinette's home. He broke through the window behind her desk, a scream resonating in the night.
Marinette sat up in bed, eyes puffy from crying. She had changed out of her dress and was in her usual pajamas. She gasped when she saw Chat Blanc. No, this couldn't be happening. It shouldn't be happening. He looked up at her from below the stairs.
Her parents' concerned voices were muffled from below and Chat Blanc blocked their entrance with his baton. He smirked up at Marinette. Marinette backed away as far as possible, her back against the cold wall.
He grew angry, she was still rejecting him even now. "Who do you love?! I'll destroy them," he growled, stepping onto the first step. Marinette whimpered as he drew closer, up the stairs. "Were destined to be together, Marinette I can feel it," he yelled up at her. She cowered as he took the next step. Tears once again welling in her eyes as he reached the last step.
He reached out to wipe her tears away and she flinched, pulling further away into the corner.
He clenched his hand, growing livid at her actions. "Who is it that you love so much you can reject me like this?! I'm your partner!"
"You are not my partner!" she sobbed in retaliation. His heart ached more at her words. "I love Chat Noir…" his anger lessened as her words sunk in. Marinette felt the bed sink with his weight as he drew closer. He placed a hand on her head and pulled her into his chest. She tried to push away but he held her firmly, arms wrapping around her waist. He purred to soothe her. She stopped fighting, mentally exhausted. She knew he wouldn't hurt her.
He lifted her tearstained face to look up at him. He gave a soft but sad smile. "If you have feelings for me then why are you so afraid of me?"
She sniffled. "As you know, I'm Multimouse so Ladybug and Bunnyx needed my help in the future. You were there, as Chat Blanc… and our love destroyed the world."
Chat Blanc sat in stunned silence. He wiped the tears off her face, staring into her eyes. "I promise you, I will never become like that." He placed a kiss on her lips to seal it. She placed a hand on his cheek, kissing him back. His soft lips danced over hers.
He deepened the kiss, his hand gripping the hair at the nape of her neck as he growled against her lips. He nibbled on her lip before pulling away, proud of the flushed look on her face.
"Why did you reject Adrien if you had a crush on him?" She still had lingering feelings for the boy. She loved him but she was no longer in love with him like she was Chat Noir.
"I just wanted to move on and so I did... with you," she smiled up at him. His heart fluttered, she loved both sides of him. In some ways, she even accepted him as Chat Blanc. He hadn't felt this kind of love since his mother was alive. The akuma fluttered out of his bell, startling both of them. He catcalysmed it before it could do any more damage.
Chat Noir, finally back to normal, hugged Marinette close. "I love you too Marinette," he shyly hid his flushed face in the crook of her neck. She giggled and wrapped her arms around him.
Chat's tail wrapped around her leg, as she snuggled into his chest. They both fell asleep, the beeping of his ring going unheard.
