It was August of 2012. Jessie and Jay had been divorced for a year. She'd moved back to Chicago and gotten a job with another real estate agency. After work one night she decided to go get a drink. She was sitting at the bar drinking a beer.
"Jess?" She heard from behind her.
She smiled knowing immediately it was John. She turned around. "Hey." She said.
"Hey." They hugged. "It's been a long time."
"Fourteen years."
John sat down at the stool next to her. "I'll take a beer and give the lady whatever she's having." He said looking at the bartender. The bartender went to get the drinks. John looked at Jessie. "As I recall you slept with me, on my birthday, then you ditched me."
"You ditched me first."
"I did and I'm sorry."
"I forgive you."
"Did you do that to get back at me?"
"Yes."
"I deserved it." "So, what have you been up to?" They ordered wings. They were talking. "Are you married?"
"Divorced." "I was married for six years."
"To who?"
"Do you remember Jay Sonnenfield?"
"Yeah." "No." He said in disbelief.
"Yep."
"Did he cheat on you?"
"No." "Nothing like that."
"We wanted a baby." "After years of trying I found out due to scarring in my uterus from my miscarriage, I can't have children."
"I'm sorry."
"We tried to work through it but it put to much of a strain on our marriage." "We've been divorced for a year."
"I'm divorced to." "Remember Liz?"
"You married Liz?"
"Yeah."
"What happened?"
"The same things that happened in high school."
"Any children?"
"No." "I had a vasectomy."
"How long have you been divorced?"
"Three months."
"I'm sorry."
"Don't be, we're not."
"How long were you married?"
"Three years."
Jessie finished her third drink.
"I have to go." She said.
"Wait." "What are you doing this Sunday?"
"Nothing."
"Want to come to LA and watch Summerslam?"
"Sure."
"I can pay for your flight."
"You don't need to." "I have money."
"Do you think you can stay for Raw that Monday?"
"I can work it out."
"I'll leave your ticket and backstage pass at the box office."
"Ok." "Goodnight."
"Goodnight."
That Sunday morning John and Randy Orton were working out in the hotel gym.
"Someone's happy today." Randy said.
"I'm just in a good mood."
"It wouldn't have anything to do with your friend Jessie coming tonight would it?"
"No."
"Bullshit." "You're already thinking about the sex."
"Jess and I aren't gonna have sex."
"Yeah right."
Jessie got to the arena at around six that night. She found John in catering with Randy.
"Hey Jess." John said.
"Hey."
"This is my friend Randy Orton."
"It's nice to meet you Randy."
"It's nice to meet you to." Randy said. "I've heard so much about you over the years."
"All good things I hope."
"John would never speak a bad word about you."
Jessie had a great time at the show. John won his match. They were getting ready to leave the arena.
"Wanna go get something to eat?" John asked.
"Sure."
They discovered they were staying in the same hotel.
John walked Jessie to her door.
"Tonight was really fun." She said.
"I'm glad you had a good time." "Jess, would you be interested in going on a date tomorrow night?"
"Wow." She said surprised at what he just asked her.
"Yes."
"Dinner?"
"Sure."
"Ok."
"Goodnight."
"Goodnight." She went inside. John smiled as he walked away.
