Hi guys. Just a little warning there might be a few emotions in this chapter. I'm nearly crying just writing this, I am very weird I know. Thanks for reading this far. Hope you keep reading. Thanks. :)

Misto watched Macavity for a little longer before running over to Munkustrap. Munkustrap was barely breathing by the time he got there. Misto didn't want to pick Munkustrap just in case it hurt him even more. He had always looked up to Munkustrap his whole life! Now he had finally used his magic to save him instead.

"Dad?" Misto asked quietly with tears filling his eyes.

Munkustrap stirred. He smiled when he saw Misto looking down on him.

"Did you just call me dad?" Munkustrap smiled.

"Course."

"Misto…"

Munkustrap was drifting in and out of consciousness even when he was talking. Misto needed to get him back to the junkyard now. Jenny would know what to do.

"Come on, I'll get you home." Misto tried to lift Munkustrap.

"Misto don't." Munkustrap replied weakly.

"I can't leave you here." Mistos eyes were filled with tears and a lump had come to his throat.

"Misto, you're not going to be able to take me back."

"No."

"Misto listen to me…"

"I'm not leaving you here and that's final. I'll go and get the others, they'll help."

"You've never been a listener have you?"

"You're not talking right. That's why I'm not listening."

"Misto…"

Munkustrap coughed up some more blood. Misto knew at that point, if he did take Munkustrap back home, he might not make it.

"Misto…"

"It's alright I'm here."

"Use your magic."

"What?"

"When you get back to the junkyard. Protect everyone."

"I won't have to. You'll be there."

"Misto, I don't think I'll be here much longer."

"Don't say that. Course you're going to be there!" Misto couldn't hold the tears back any longer, they started streaming down his face.

"Oh Misto don't." Munkustrap chuckled, putting his paw up to Mistos face wiping away the tears.

Misto smiled as much as he could as Munkustrap did this. Even if this was the last time he saw Munkustrap he would make sure it was going to be one of the best times they had spent together.

"I need to take you outside." Misto finally decided.

"Why?"

"We need to see the stars."

"You won't be able to carry me."

"I can try."

And Misto did just that. He got Munkustrap up in his arms. Munkustrap groaned but let Misto do it as it meant he could have some fresh air. Misto led Munkustrap out into the night. Misto was right, the stars were out and not a cloud in the sky.

"Here. Much better." Munkustrap said, getting out of Mistos arms.

Munkustrap sat up and Misto sat down next to him. It had been ages since the two toms had spoken like this.

"I wonder how the junkyard is getting on." Munkustrap said.

"Waiting I suppose."

"You seem a bit distant."

"Not distant exactly. Just…."

"Just what?"

"I don't want you to go."

"Misto, we all have to leave at some point."

"But I don't want you to!"

"I don't either but right now.. It would be better if I did."

Misto could hear cats in the distance. He knew who these were, Jemima and Victoria. Munkustrap noticed Misto looking into the distance.

"Go." He said to Misto.

"I can't."

"Misto go. I'll be right behind you."

"You'd better be." Miso said getting to his feet.

"I'll race you." Munkustrap said getting to his feet also.

"Shall we wait for you to catch up?"

"I'll be there. Just go and I'll catch up when I can."

Misto nodded and headed off to rejoin his sisters. Munkustrap tried to follow. He knew he wouldn't get very far but knew he would have to follow Misto as much as he could.

0000

Jemima, Exotica, Victoria, Carbucketty and Mungojerrie were still waiting for Misto and Munkustrap to come back with them. They then spotted black and white fur in the very near distance.

"MISTO!" Victoria cried out.

There he was. The little kitten bounded towards the four cats and hugged them instantly. They were so glad to see him again. Once they had finished hugging, the girls looked around for their father.

"Where's dad?" Jemima piped up.

"He'll be here in a moment." Misto replied.

"You sure?" Jemima asked again.

"He gave me a head start. We're in a race you see." Misto answered.

"Well we'd better keep running to beat him then." Victoria said with passion.

"I can't run!" Mungojerrie moaned.

"Oh just do it you big softie!" Carbucketty laughed.

All the kittens got ready to run to see who would get back home first. They all smiled at each other and then started to run home.

"I'm going to beat you!" Exotica shouted as she ran past everyone.

"No you're not!" Jemima shouted, catching up with her.

"Just try and stop me." Exotica laughed.

No one else tried to stop her. Exotica was the fastest out of all of them. Mungojerrie was still running but was lagging behind as he didn't like running. Misto decided to run next to him to keep him company with everyone else running in front out of fun rather than competition.

"Not a fan of running?" Misto asked Mungojerrie out of breath.

"I've been running my whole life. I don't want to run anymore." Mungojerrie answered his friend.

"You don't have to."

"What? You think everyone will accept me after everything I've done?"

"We have. Mostly."

"Thanks Misto."

"What for?"

"Being here. Not giving up on me."

"I never give up on anyone. Everyone deserves a second chance."

"I think I'm past my second chance. I'm on like my fifth chance now!"

"Not with us you're not."

Mungojerrie looked over at Misto. They both smiled as they continued to run. Still looking where they were going though as they didn't want to run into anything. That would be so embarrassing!

"Come on slow coaches!" Jemima shouted back to them.

"Coming! We're not all as fast as you!" Mungojerrie shouted back.

"Well try harder then!"

Mungojerrie tutted. Misto gave a little smirk. Mungojerrie saw that.

"What?"

"You and Jemima."

"There's nothing between us."

"Really?"

"She doesn't like me anyway."

"I can ask her if you want me to."

"I'll let you know later. Too busy right now."

"Jem?" Misto shouted to his sister.

"Don't." Mungojerrie punched him in the arm.

"Don't worry I won't."

Mungojerrie rolled his eyes at his friend. Misto didn't take many things seriously. Sometimes like right now it helped.

"Where's dad again Misto?" Victoria said joining the two boys at the back of the pack.

"He'll be here in a minute." Misto answered her patting her on the back.

"You've said that for miles!"

"It's a long way back."

"You promise?"

"I promise."

Victoria smiled and ran back to the front to join Carbucketty. Misto smiled as he saw his sister enjoy herself back with her best friend. It was good to be back with cats they knew. Then he thought back to Macavity. He hadn't got any authorities to deal with him. How did they know if he was going to be back?

"Macavity." Misto whispered.

"What about him?" Mungojerrie whispered back.

"What if he comes back?"

"He won't."

"But you don't know that."

"He wouldn't dare bother us again."

"You think?"

"I don't think, I know."

Misto looked down at the floor they were running on. Maybe Mungojerrie was right, Macavity wouldn't have the guts to attack them again after Mistos magic. Misto had protected his family for the first time but it didn't mean he wouldn't do it again.
