Hi everyone!
I apologize for disappearing. Life has been busy and truthfully, I was kind of stuck on this story. I always intended to end it in chapter 25, where we see Jane and Bingley speak...and its almost like a parallel and closing of the first original chapter. I wanted to continue the story with the other characters but it didn't really flow here. The second chance story was mainly about Jane and though her story with Matthew continues, I think it ended really nicely. So I deleted the few chapters I had posted after Chapter 25 and now will label this story completed :)
In terms of the other characters, so I really liked the idea of Lydia marrying an older man who would be like a father to her. Obviously there would be misunderstandings but she would eventually grow. I envisioned her helped her husband make more money. I once saw in a documentary that there would be these laundrymats for fallen women, basically laundry was the most expensive/time consuming thing to do in a household so this was very profitable and actually charitable. So that is what I envisioned them building. I don't think Lydia would see her family for a few years, though she will grow, specially with an older companion (not just her husband but an older companion woman), she would prob be bitter of how much better her sisters fortune was and I think she will always have a mean streak, she would never become like Jane.
Okay, so I really did see Bingley and Kitty together. Not now, but in a few years, when he was truly over jane and when kitty had matured more. I think she is more playful and it would have been a better match. That being said, I do think bingley and lady mary would be great too. She is old money and he is new money, she is so eager to have her own household and I think she would enjoy building something new with him since she is not to inherit downton. Yes, she is strong, but I think she would bring out the man in him. Truthfully, I do not know who he would have picked though I think Kitty was more likely in my mind. I would have set up a couple of situations and see how it all played out.
In terms of mary bennet, there are so many people who love her! Sorry, but I never really connected with her and always held a little bit of a grudge with jane austen for not having her marry collins, she would have been happy with him. I did not have any plans with her and had not even though about her own character development.
Well, I think that ties up all loose ends. Thanks again for reading!
Best,
Pp
