After Midnight took Izuku's place at the podium, she spun the digital wheel that contained what would be the first of three events within the Sports Festival. The wheel whirled for a bit longer than was dramatically necessary, before settling on an option.

"The first event will be an OBSTACLE COURSE!" Midnight called out, cracking the whip she kept at her side. Something speed-based? Izuku could handle that.

As the students lined up at the starting line, Izuku realized that the large tunnel directly in front of them would bottleneck everyone going through it. He crouched down, preparing to jump over the competition, but the second the race started, the entire floor became covered with ice, and his feet became lodged in the ice. Todoroki...

Izuku stepped out of his shoes and got back into his earlier stance, his steel soles punching through the ice as he stomped into position.

"Rocket Jump!" he called out as he propelled himself forward like a javelin, high enough to go over the other students while still passing through the tunnel. As he neared the ground on the other side, he flipped around to land on his feet and kept running. Around him, he could see a few others had managed to find their own ways through the ice. Momo had shot spikes through the bottoms of her shoes for better grip, and Kirishima had also taken off his shoes. Kacchan, of course, had his explosions, so ice could barely slow him down.

As he kept running, Present Mic announced the first obstacle to be titled Robo Inferno. No sooner had he said so than Izuku came upon a horde of the massive Zero Pointer robots from the Entrance Exam. Luckily this time, Izuku had something designed specifically to counteract them. He reached up with his left hand, as the panels covering his pinky finger opened up all the way down his arm, revealing a much darker silver than the panels that had been there a moment before. It was pure neodymium. Izuku clenched his fist towards the head of one of the robots, before throwing his hand downwards, causing the robot to collapse downwards into itself. His new arm was just as strong as he'd hoped.

He ran through the robots, pushing them out of the way with his ferrokinesis whenever necessary, not opting to crush them out of the interest of time, especially now that he was catching up to Todoroki.

"And now here comes the next obstacle, THE PIT! How will our students manage to- AND MIDORIYA HAS CLEARED THE PIT!"

Izuku once more hit the ground running, thankful that he didn't have to use any other powers so far, since he didn't want to show all his cards right from the get-go. It was still another minute of running, with Todoroki a ways behind him due to his lack of a speed quirk, before he got to the third and final obstacle.

"Now our lead runner Midoriya comes up to the final obstacle, the MINEFIELD! Don't worry, these mines aren't lethal, but they sure do hurt!"

The minefield was... he could easily jump it, but the final tunnel was directly after it and quite small, so he'd likely smack into the top of it and shatter if he decided to try. Also jumping it would be lame. Izuku pulled Kuromu from its sheathe and swung it through the dirt to add material to it like Momo had so it could become long enough to grapple him across the gap.as the blade left the ground, the blade had gotten dirty but not larger by any account. Odd.

Izuku decided to just run across and quickly step around the mines, using his eyes to zoom in and see where they would be, to plot a course through the field. As he did so, he wiped off Kuromu, since he could tell it did NOT like being dirty, before resheathing it. He could hear Todoroki and, judging by the explosions, Kacchan, catching up to him, but he was through the finish line before they could stop fighting each other long enough to beat him.

"AND THE WINNER OF THE FIRST ROUND IS 1-A'S IZUKU MIDORIYA!"

Izuku waited at the finish line to watch everyone come through, seeing his friends Momo and Mashirao, along with all of his class and class 1-B coming through the gates after Todoroki and Kacchan, as well as one tired looking General student and a Support student with pink dreadlocks who he recognized from the last time he was there for his costume, surprisingly enough. It wasn't often that those classes got into the second round, although considering the numbers a couple of them would have to, but these two were the best of them so they'd be ones to watch for in the future.

Midnight once more spun the wheel of events once the number of people who completed the race had reached 42, cutting off anyone who took longer than that. After a moment, the wheel stopped, landing on...

"CAVALRY BATTLE! Students will group up in teams of two to four, with one student riding on top of the others! Each team will be given headbands with points on them, which other teams must try to steal, and whoever ends up with the highest score at the end wins! The point score is based on the team's total placements in the race, with 42nd place getting 5 points, and every place up gets another 5 added on!"

Izuku did the math and found that he'd have 210 points. That would definitely help him get through, even if there could be other teams with more high scoring people and therefore higher total scores than whoever would be on his te-

"The exception is the first place runner, who will be awarded with TEN MILLION POINTS!"

...Oh no.
