Will Alex save Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi from trouble? We'll find out right now!

Since Alex doesn't like the Mario head, I bet he'll have nightmares about this afterward.

It won't be easy for Alex. He might have to go through some obstacles along the way.

The question is: where are Mario, Luigi, and Yoshi locked up in?

The Mario head from Mario Teaches Typing was the first thing that came to me. I didn't think about the Wario Apparition.

Oh, really? I'd love to see the Mario anime movie you're featured in.

Don't worry. Alex will find all three of them.
7C - The Worst Nightmares Ever
Mario slowly opened his eyes, having barely heard birds chirping above him. He saw himself lying on a pale concrete road and stood up.
"Where am I now?" Mario looked at his surroundings, which consisted of a small stream, various colored mushrooms, the concrete road he was standing on, and grassy fields. On top of that, everything appeared to be cel animated.
"Why is everything animated?"
Suddenly, bouncy music started playing in the background, causing Mario to slam his hands against his ears. He had woken up inside the intro cutscene of Hotel Mario, his least favorite Mario game that he hated all his life.
"NO! TURN THE MUSIC OFF!" Mario yelled with agony. "STOP!" He dropped to his knees right as Hotel Bowser's laugh echoed everywhere.
"PLEASE! TURN IT OFF!"
"Nice of the princess to invite us over for a picnic, eh, Luigi?" a familiar voice said in the distance. Hotel Mario and Hotel Luigi walked down the road, not seeing Mario suffering from his anxiety attack.
"I hope she made lotsa spaghetti!" Hotel Luigi exclaimed. Right as he said the word "spaghetti", the word looped over and over again and everything froze. Mario grabbed his head, which was aching badly. Seconds later, deep evil laughter bellowed over Hotel Luigi's looping voice.
"I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE! MY HEAD'S EXPLODING!" Mario cried. He looked to his left and saw a wood door with the sign "Klub Koopa Resort" placed above it. Mario quickly got up while still holding his head.
He took one look at the Hotel Mario Bros and immediately flipped his head the other way, having been creeped out at their appearances. The evil laughter and Hotel Luigi's voice still played in the background. Mario ran head first toward the door, screaming as loud as he could. Right as his head hit the door, Mario accidentally knocked himself out and fell on his back.
It took several seconds for Mario to regain his bearings. Everything had gone quiet and he was no longer inside the Hotel Mario intro cutscene. Mario sighed with relief.
"Thank gosh I'm out of that place." Mario stood up and found himself inside a small dungeon cell with metal bars in front. Mario determined that the bars were what he hit his head on rather than the wood door he tried to run through.
"And I'm in the dungeon. Just as I thought," he remarked with sarcasm. "I guess I'll have to wait for someone to free me."
Suddenly, Mario heard some metal moving in front of the bars, making him confused.
"What's going on?"
While the noise grew louder, a distant voice called out, "I got the key, now Mario goes free."
Mario immediately became upset again, knowing he was inside another Mario game he hated: Mario is Missing!.
"No! No! No!"
He saw the wall in front open up, revealing the open hallway where the in-game Luigi used a control console to free his brother.
"Bowser's sucking ice, the Koopas aren't nice," the voice continued. Mario started slamming his hands on the walls, feeling his head hurt again.
"Get me out of this game! I don't wanna be here! Please-"
Right as the bars lifted up, Mario felt his feet weigh down on the ground. He was unable to walk anywhere.
"What?! What's happening?!" Mario saw himself turn toward the hall; he felt like someone was forcing him to move. "No! Don't take me to him!"
One second later, Mario started sliding forward to the control console at a slow pace. He tried to break his feet out of the strong grasp beneath him to no avail.
"Help me! Yoshi! Alex! Luigi!"
Right as Mario approached the console, he slid backward until he was inches from the balcony and stopped in place. Mario was now sweating, but he didn't feel like he was going through a panic attack.
Suddenly, an off-key version of the title screen theme from Super Mario World started playing in the background and what sounded like Luigi began laughing from behind the console.
Mario tried again to break free, but repeatedly failed over and over. Then, to his shock, Weegee walked into view and slowly turned to Mario, creeping him out more than the Hotel Mario intro cutscene.
"NO! NOT YOU! STOP LOOKING AT ME!" Mario screamed with fear.
"Hehehe! Time to go home, Mario!" Weegee cackled.
"NO! NO!"
Weegee started doing Mario's victory dance from Super Mario 64; right as he thrusted his V-sign forward, Mario flew backward off the balcony and fell toward the snow below. Mario continued crying for help as he fell.
Mario closed his eyes, anticipating him impacting the snow. But he felt himself going through an airy space for a few seconds before finally hitting the snow. Mario opened his eyes and saw himself flip over and land on his feet, sliding down a steep hill with skis attached to his feet.
Apparently, he fell through a cloudy sky prior to him skiing down the hill.
"Wha- How did these skis get on my shoes?!" Mario yelled. "Where in the world am I going?!"
Mario decided not to worry about where he was going and focused on skiing down the hill. There were pine trees all over, and he had to dodge a few to avoid getting knocked out again.
Just then, Mario saw a dark cave ahead and plunged straight through. He expected the path to start curving as if he was inside some sort of racetrack. Instead, he zoomed up a slope and flew forward. Mario hurried and took the skis off his shoes; he then tucked his legs in.
"Please take me back to the dungeon…" Mario murmured as he closed his eyes again. Moments later, he hit an unseen surface and rolled onto his stomach. While opening his eyes, he heard Bowser laughing in front of him.
"Bowser…?"
"MARIO!" a familiar voice cried. Mario quickly stood up to see Bowser standing next to Peach in her aerial cage.
"Princess Peach! Hang in there! I'm gonna get you down!" Mario declared.
"Oh, no you don't!" Bowser exclaimed as a Skull Switch rose in front of him.
"What's that switch for?" Mario asked.
"Don't you remember? Look down at your feet!"
Mario looked down and saw himself standing on a bridge above a bottomless pit. He gasped with shock, knowing this is a role reversal of the first final battle.
"Gwahahaha! Happy landings, Mario!" Bowser laughed before pounding the Skull Switch. The bridge crumbled under Mario's feet, causing him to fall down the pit.
"NOOO! MARIO!" Peach screamed.
Meanwhile, back in the large room with the four doors, Alex was still wondering where to go first. He noticed a letter above each door; those letters were "N", "S", "W", and "E".
"Oh, I get it. It's like one of those boss rush levels," Alex said. He decided to try the west door first only to hit an invisible barrier halfway down the hall.
"Great. I might have to free all three of them to unlock the invisible wall." He went down the north, east, and south halls; they didn't have invisible barriers in them.
"Maybe the west hall is where Princess Peach and Bowser are in." Alex walked back to the middle and studied the north, east, and south doors again. "Let's try the north door first."
Alex went down the north hall again and opened the door to enter the next area. Inside was a small bridge leading to a brick platform above a bottomless pit. Upon stepping on the platform, Alex heard the door behind him vanish. Then, the bridge started spinning clockwise and multiple doors flashed in the north, south, east, and west ends of the room.
"What do I need to do…?"
Suddenly, a Red Exclamation Point Switch rose in the center of the platform, giving Alex a clue of how to solve the puzzle.
"If I time this right, the bridge and door should connect with each other."
Alex placed his left hand above the switch and looked forward, waiting for the bridge and door to meet up. It took ten seconds before Alex finally pushed the switch. To his surprise, the bridge connected with the north side's door, solving the puzzle.
"Yay! I did it!" Alex squealed with delight. He walked to the door and entered the next area.
"Ugh…" Mario groaned. He slowly opened his eyes again and saw himself lying on his stomach. Before he could say anything else, loud organ music started playing and big footsteps sounded in front of Mario. He quickly picked himself up to see Rainbowser walking toward him. This time, Mario ended up in the "Bowser in the Sky" level from Super Mario 64.
"Do I have to fight you again?" Mario asked with irritation.
"Mario! You again! Well, that's just fine! I've been looking for something to fry with my fire breath!" Rainbowser boomed. "Your Star power is useless against me, your friends are all trapped in the walls, and you'll never see Princess Peach again! Gwahaha!"
Alex found himself in a dungeon cell with Mario strapped to a chair; he was wearing a VR helmet, which was connected to an electric generator.
"What did they do to Mario?" Alex asked. He looked at the generator. "I have to destroy this machine before unstrapping Mario."
Alex walked to the generator and raised both of his fists to pound it to pieces.
"Get away from me!" Mario screamed while running to the left end of the arena. He stopped and looked down at the colorful abyss beneath him. "Should I jump or fight Bowser?"
Before Mario could make a decision, he began to tremble violently as if he was hit by a shockwave.
Alex continued to pound the generator until he saw Mario's head hang toward the ground. He ran up to him and took the VR helmet off Mario's head before unstrapping him from the chair. Mario fell on the floor face first.
"Mario? Are you okay?" Alex asked. "It's Alex."
"Huh…?" Mario said in a weak voice. He slowly lifted his head up to see Alex in front of him. Before Alex knew it, Mario got up quickly and gave him a big hug. "Alex! You saved me! Thank you so much!"
"You're welcome," Alex replied. "What happened to you?"
"I was in the Hotel Mario and Mario is Missing! games…" Mario explained. "…and they made me go mad because I couldn't stand the music and dialogue. This creepy version of Luigi threw me off a balcony and I skied down a hill, I found Princess Peach and Bowser, but Bowser defeated me and I ended up in the Super Mario 64 final battle!"
"Whoa. That's a weird dream," Alex remarked. "How did Bowser know you didn't like those games?"
"I don't know. He just did."
"Well, now that I saved you, we need to save Yoshi and Luigi," Alex said, beckoning Mario to follow him through the door.
Yoshi overheard faint whirring in the background and opened his eyes. He was sitting in a hallway that resembled a space station tunnel, but he was not weightless.
"What am I in?" Yoshi asked himself after standing up. "Some sort of spaceship?" He looked around to see where to go next. There was a dead end behind Yoshi's back, so he walked forward.
The hallway hung a left and led Yoshi to a large open area with two blue Warp Pipes on the right and top ends respectively.
"Okay… Where does Bowser want me to go?"
Yoshi chose to go to the Warp Pipe on his right and entered it. Five seconds later, he found himself in an empty spaceship cockpit with two pilot seats. There were two portholes on either side in addition to the front windshield.
He looked through the left porthole and saw a space station that the spaceship was docked with. Yoshi then sat in the left pilot seat and strapped himself in.
"Maybe I can fly this spaceship to Earth and go back to Bowser's Horrorific Castle," Yoshi wondered.
Suddenly, a male computerized voice called out, "Initiating undocking in 3…2…1."
A clunking noise sounded behind Yoshi, who looked to his left to see the space station moving away. He was on his own now.
Yoshi noticed a green button on the central console that read "Engine Start" and pressed it, prompting a rear rocket engine to slowly start up. Yoshi then looked at the console's throttle lever and the control yoke in front.
"Hmm. It's like flying an airplane."
Yoshi throttled the engine to full power and grabbed the control yoke. Seconds later, he was pushed back into his seat, making it hard for him to control the spaceship.
Hundreds of thousands of stars passed by at a very quick speed and a white dot in the center appeared. It grew larger and larger, brightening everything around; Yoshi had to shield his eyes.
For a while, Yoshi assumed the spaceship was going straight with no enemies in the way. That was until Yoshi's seatbelt unbuckled itself and he started floating backward. A moment later, a loud bang was heard and Yoshi was thrown forward through the windshield and into a white void.
Having been startled by the bang, Yoshi flailed his arms and legs, screaming for help. His surroundings cut to black for a moment and he reappeared in a room with a dark red ceiling and walls and dark gray floor. There were also two mirrors each on the north, south, east, and west walls.
"You better tell me where I'm at!" Yoshi demanded as if he was talking to Bowser. "I'm done with you teleporting me to these scary and dangerous places!"
"Gwahahaha!" Bowser's voice laughed from out of nowhere. "I'M not done yet! There's something else I want to show you!"
"What? Is it you trapping Mario, Luigi, and Alex in Princess Peach's cage?"
Just then, distorted laughter echoed throughout the room. Yoshi looked at the west mirrors and saw a cyan Yoshi and an orange Yoshi emerge from the mirrors. Their eyes were glowing white.
"Wrong!" Bowser replied. "I thought you'd want to spend some time with your friends. After all, they love to play around."
From the north mirrors emerged a pink and a blue Yoshi. Then, a brown and a black Yoshi came out of the east mirrors. Finally, a yellow and a white Yoshi came out of the south mirrors. Yoshi looked at the Yoshi clones and became creeped out due to their white eyes.
"Th-they're not…f-friendly Y-Yoshis…B-Bowser…" Yoshi stammered.
"Oh, don't be afraid, Yoshi. They're not gonna hurt you," Bowser lied. The Yoshi clones started to close in on Yoshi.
"T-take th-them away…! P-please…!"
"All right, my friends. Have fun," Bowser told the Yoshi clones. Yoshi started shivering out of fear.
Mario and Alex exited the north door and walked to the middle of the compass room. The north hall's chandeliers turned off, indicating that path was used already.
"Which door should we go to now?" Mario asked.
"The west one is blocked off, so the south and east ones should lead us to Yoshi and Luigi," Alex replied. Both took a second to look at the south and east halls before making a decision.
"Let's try the east door," Mario said.
"Good idea."
Mario and Alex went down the east hall and entered the next area. They came across a large and endless body of water surrounded by a dark blue sky.
"Do we have to swim all the way to the bottom?" Alex asked. "I don't know if I can hold my breath for that long."
"Well, since you have Super powers like me and Luigi, your lungs should be strong enough to let you hold your breath longer than normal," Mario responded.
"Okay."
Without further ado, Alex and Mario leaped into the water and started swimming downward. It wasn't long before they reached the sea floor and saw some reddish-purple Clams scattered across the sand.
Alex swam to the closest Clam, which opened to reveal a Green Shiny Shell. He knew that if he held the shell, it would let him swim faster than normal. Mario approached the shell, having seen it out the corner of his eye.
Alex pointed to the shell with the intention of asking if he should grab it. Mario shook his head 'no' and pointed to the shell. Alex interpreted it as Mario wanting to take the shell.
Alex moved away to allow Mario to grab the Green Shiny Shell. Right as Mario started zooming through the water, Alex took hold of Mario's left ankle since he would be unable to catch up by himself. Mario and Alex entered a narrow tunnel that had some Water Mines blocking the way.
Mario was able to steer clear of the Water Mines and made sharp right and left turns according to how the tunnel was carved out. Alex held onto Mario's ankle as tight as he could. After ten seconds, the tunnel straightened again and Alex and Mario closed in on a ring of eight Water Mines; there was a small opening in the middle.
Alex flinched upon seeing the Water Mine ring and looked away. Luckily, Mario was able to swim through the open with no trouble, but Alex barely made it too; his right foot accidentally set off two Water Mines.
Finally, they sped up a rock slope and emerged from the water; the Green Shiny Shell disappeared at the same time. Alex and Mario stood up and looked back at the water tunnel.
"I can't say if that tunnel was fun or not," Alex stated. "But at least we made it."
Both walked up to a metal door at a white brick wall and entered the next area.
"How about a game of tag?" the orange Yoshi clone offered. "The only rule is we're all 'it'!"
"No! I'm not playing with you!" Yoshi cried. He tried to run away, but the yellow Yoshi clone was quick enough to toss Yoshi in the air. While Yoshi fell to the north end, all the Yoshi clones ran to catch him. But Yoshi Wall Jumped off the wall and flew to the south end.
The cyan Yoshi clone proceeded to Flutter Jump in front of Yoshi and shoved him.
"Don't touch me!" Yoshi yelled. This time, Yoshi rammed into one of the north end's mirrors and shattered it to pieces. He got up quickly and Flutter Jumped over the Yoshi clones running toward him.
Alex and Mario found themselves in a dungeon cell similar to the one where Mario was held captive. However, they saw Yoshi's wrists and ankles chained to the wall opposite the bars; he was also wearing a VR helmet.
"There's got to be a machine controlling Yoshi's helmet," Alex said. He looked around to find a generator powering the VR helmet and found one at the top right corner. "There it is!"
Alex rushed to the generator only to see it encased in a glowing bubble.
"Mario! There's a shield around the machine! How do we get rid of it?" Mario approached the generator and looked at it for a moment.
"I'll try to find a switch to shut off the shield," Mario said. "Stay here." He ran up to the left wall and saw a blackish green brick sticking out. He pushed it and the shield disappeared, prompting Alex to start crushing the generator.
Yoshi retreated to the bottom right corner, not knowing what to do next. The Yoshi clones speed-walked toward him.
"W-well… Th-this is…i-it…" Yoshi said in a shaky voice. "Y-you w-win…Bowser…"
Suddenly, Yoshi began trembling like crazy.
Alex stomped on the remains of the generator, making Yoshi's head droop down. Mario went up to Yoshi and pulled the chains cuffing his wrists and ankles out of the wall. Next, he took the VR helmet off Yoshi's head and waited for Yoshi to regain control of himself.
"Are you all right-y, Yoshi?" Mario asked. Yoshi looked up to see Mario standing in front and held his left hand toward him.
"Give me a hand, please." Mario pulled Yoshi on his feet; Yoshi laid his hand on his head. "Oh geez. For a second, I thought all those Yoshis were gonna dog-pile me."
"What are you talking about?"
"Bowser sent these white-eyed Yoshis to fight me, and I tried running away from them until you saved me."
Alex rejoined Mario and Yoshi, relieved that Yoshi was okay.
"Well, two down, one more to go," Alex said. "Let's find Luigi."
This time, Mario led Alex and Yoshi through the metal door back to the compass room.
"Mamma mia…" Luigi groaned while waking up. He found himself sitting on a wood platform surrounded by a small railing. The platform was surrounded by a black abyss. While standing up, he saw Daisy and Toadette sitting on a bench across from him.
"Daisy! Toadette!" Luigi called out. "I'm so glad to see you! Where am I?"
But Daisy and Toadette didn't say anything.
"Hey! I'm over here!" Luigi waved both hands, trying to get Daisy and Toadette's attention. They didn't move a muscle and only looked forward. "Guys, say something! Do you even see-"
Suddenly, a gavel pounded twice to his right and two spotlights turned on, revealing the Pianta judge and Pianta prosecutor from the Delfino Plaza Courthouse.
"Court is now in session!" the judge stated. Luigi turned to the judge and reflected on the trial he, Mario, Daisy, and Aqua went through at the start of their Isle Delfino vacation over three years ago. Luigi quickly got antsy.
Just then, the prosecutor started speaking to Luigi's left, "As you are no doubt-"
"I'M NOT DOING THIS TRIAL AGAIN!" Luigi screamed over the prosecutor's voice. Luigi leaped over the railing with the intention of running out of the courthouse, but there was no floor and he fell straight down.
"AAAAHHHHHH! HELP MEEEE!" Luigi shouted.
Seconds later, Luigi landed head-first in a bed of water ice, his legs dangling for a moment. He pulled himself out of the water ice and saw he ended up in Wendy O. Koopa's Ice Palace from the Super Mario World TV series.
"Wendy's Ice Palace?" Luigi asked himself. "Is she working with Bowser this time?"
Luigi looked down the tunnel ahead and shouted, "Wendy! Where are you?! Why did you send me here?!"
"Who is this?" Wendy's voice echoed from nowhere.
"You dimwit! It's Mario's brother Luigi!"
"Oh, you mean the cowardly fellow in green?" Wendy taunted, making Luigi angrier.
"I'M NOT A COWARD!"
"Yes, you are! King Bowser told me you're deathly afraid of ghosts, right?"
"Not anymore! I've gotten over my fear!" Luigi yelled. "I'm not afraid of them!"
"Hey! Leave Luigi alone!" an elderly female voice exclaimed.
"Mama Fireplant?" Luigi wondered.
"Stay out of it!" Wendy ordered Mama Fireplant. "This is between me and him!"
Suddenly, a deep rumble started from behind Luigi and large drops of water started falling from the ceiling.
"No, It's not!" Mama Fireplant retorted. "He's my friend and I'm counting on him to rescue me!"
"Stop talking! You're making my palace melt!"
The rumbling grew louder, prompting Luigi to turn around. The ice wall cracked quickly, spewing small streams of water.
"Oh my gosh…" Luigi murmured. He couldn't get himself to run away since he was shocked at the incoming danger.
"How about I turn you into a fireplace?" Mama Fireplant threatened Wendy.
"DON'T YOU DARE!" Wendy yelled.
The ice wall finally broke, letting a giant water wave rush toward Luigi. Luigi shrieked with fright just as the wave engulfed him. Within seconds, he was no longer in the ice palace, traveling through an underwater void. The next thing Luigi knew, he was washed up on a wooden ship deck.
Luigi felt dizzy from being sucked in the wave and laid on his stomach. "My head's spinning…" he coughed before standing up.
Luigi took a few seconds to look at where he ended up now. He was standing on the deck of the SS Koopa, Bowser's hideout during the Dinosaur Land adventure.
"I'd better be dreaming," Luigi said. "There's no way I went from Bowser's castle to his pirate ship."
"What was that over there?!" a distant voice called out. Luigi turned to see two Dry Bones guards hurrying toward him.
"Oh no…" Luigi murmured.
"We don't allow trespassers on King Bowser's ship!" the second Dry Bones guard proclaimed.
"I didn't mean to-" Luigi started to confess before the first Dry Bones guard picked him up. "Hey! Put me down! I didn't do anything wrong!"
"You did too! If you're not associated with King Bowser, you're essentially a wrongdoer!" the first Dry Bones said. It carried Luigi to the ship's bow with the second Dry Bones following behind.
"Don't take me to that trapdoor!" Luigi pleaded. "What's the point of throwing me down there?!"
"No questions allowed!" the first Dry Bones said. The second Dry Bones inserted his foot in the door handle and lifted it up, revealing a bottomless pit.
"You deserve what you get!" the second Dry Bones announced. Luigi tried to pry the first guard's hands off him to no avail.
"Let…me…go…!"
"Request granted!" the first Dry Bones responded as it threw Luigi down the hole.
"YYAAAAAHHH!"
Luigi fell into the darkness, not knowing where he would land. Suddenly, he saw some faint lights down below that grew brighter and brighter. Eventually, Luigi recognized where he was plummeting to.
"WHY AM I IN MANHATTAN?! NOOOO!"
Luigi fell past the Empire State Building and glanced at the various buildings across what appeared to be New York City. He wasn't excited to see his original home as he was already scared from Bowser's horror traps. Luigi homed in toward the streets and shut his eyes, bracing for impact.
Mario, Yoshi, and Alex exited the east door and walked to the center of the compass room. The east hall's chandeliers turned off, meaning that there were two halls left.
Yoshi glanced at the south and west doors, wondering where Luigi's cell would be.
"We can't go down the west hall until we rescue Luigi. He's being held in the south end," Mario told Yoshi. "And I have a feeling the next obstacle's going to be the toughest one."
"I hope not," Yoshi said. The group traveled down the south hall and entered the next area. They ended up in a desert-themed maze with rock boundaries.
"Hmm… This doesn't look too bad," Mario remarked.
"Hey! Look at the sign next to us!" Alex said, pointing to a sign with instructions on the left-hand side. There was a red button next to the sign and a timer above it.
"'Collect all eight Red Coins within three minutes. Press the red button to start the timer. Should you win within the time limit, an exit door will open for you. Good luck!'"
"Oh boy. I hope we get to help each other get the Red Coins," Yoshi said with anticipation. "There's no way only one of us will do the challenge."
"Not to worry, Yoshi," Mario reassured Yoshi. "We'll be fine." He positioned his hand over the red button. "Ready?"
"Ready," Alex and Yoshi replied. Mario pressed the button, switching on the timer. The group immediately ran to get the eight Red Coins as quick as possible. Along the way, there were Pokeys and Bombshell Koopas that had to be defeated. Mario and friends also ran into dead ends that either had a Red Coin or nothing.
Within two minutes, everyone each got two Red Coins each. A high-pitched tone sounded, indicating there was one minute left on the clock. Mario and Yoshi went together to find the last two Red Coins while Alex tried to find where the exit door would spawn.
"Hurry! Go! Go! Go!" Mario cried. He found the seventh Red Coin at another dead end while Yoshi defeated a Bombshell Koopa to release the final one. The timer stopped with four seconds to go.
"Mamma mia…" Mario panted. "That was some level…"
"Yeah… I'm glad we did it in time…" Yoshi agreed. Just then, a yellow line appeared at Mario and Yoshi's feet leading to the exit. It took about a minute for them to meet up with Alex, who found the exit already. A metal door had formed with an "Exit" sign above it.
"Good job, guys!" Alex praised Mario and Yoshi. "All we need to do is free Luigi and go find Bowser and Princess Peach!"
Without further ado, Mario and friends went through the door, hoping they would come across Luigi.
Luigi overheard a thundering noise that woke him up. Upon opening his eyes, he saw himself laying on a ruined castle floor. The sky looked as if the sun was rising with the Moon behind some clouds.
Before Luigi could say anything, the final battle theme from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island started playing in the background. He got startled and jumped backward.
"No…" Luigi mumbled. "Not Baby Bowser…"
Seconds later, Big Baby Bowser rose from the ground and roared, making a series of boulders destroy some of the floor. He started to charge forward, scaring Luigi more.
"What do I do?! I'm not Yoshi!"
Mario and friends saw Luigi strapped to a chair mounted on a small circular platform. He was also wearing a VR helmet similar to Mario and Yoshi when they were being held captive.
There were three generators at the top right, bottom left, and top right corners of the cell; the group was standing on the bottom right corner. Each of the generators had a shield around them.
Mario looked down the abyss briefly before looking at Luigi.
"I'll go turn off the shields. Yoshi, go to the top right machine. Alex, go to the top left machine," Mario instructed Yoshi and Alex. He jumped to the bottom left corner and looked along the left wall to find a hidden switch.
Meanwhile, Alex and Yoshi made their way to the generators they were assigned to destroy.
"Mario! Let us know when the shields are gone!" Alex called out.
"Okey-dokey!"
It wasn't long before Mario found a light blue brick in the center of the left wall. He reached forward and pushed the brick to shut off the shields.
Big Baby Bowser roared again, shooting massive fireballs at Luigi. Luigi was able to dodge them in time.
"Where are the purple eggs?" Luigi asked himself. "I need them to attack Baby Bowser!"
Suddenly, a Baron von Zeppelin flew in front of Luigi with a reddish-purple Giant Egg. Luigi grabbed the egg and threw it at Big Baby Bowser's chest. Big Baby Bowser was knocked back from Luigi's attack and charged faster than earlier.
Luigi panicked and tried to find more Giant Eggs before it was too late. At the last second, Luigi found another Baron von Zeppelin with its purple Giant Egg and rushed toward it.
Luigi barely touched the Giant Egg as he started trembling uncontrollably.
Mario, Yoshi, and Alex made a final stomp on all three generators, causing Luigi's head to slump down. Mario jumped to the chair's platform, unstrapped Luigi, and took the VR helmet off his head.
"Let's-a go, guys!" Mario stated as he hung Luigi over his left shoulder. Yoshi and Alex followed Mario through the door back to the compass room. Right as the south hall's chandeliers turned off, Mario set Luigi on his knees and waited for him to wake up.
"Luigi? Wake up, please," Mario said, tapping Luigi's shoulder.
"Ugh… Who's talking…to me…?" Luigi groaned as he woke up.
"Hi, bro," Mario greeted Luigi with a smile. Luigi looked up at Mario and immediately became excited, hugging Mario tight.
"Mario! Oh my goodness! It's you!" Luigi cried. He started crying tears of joy.
"It's okay, Luigi… Take it slow…" Mario coaxed Luigi.
Yoshi and Alex smiled at the Mario Bros' reunion, but didn't get emotional.
"I knew this was gonna happen," Alex remarked. "What a lovely moment."
"You're never gonna believe where I went, Mario!" Luigi exclaimed after standing up. "I woke up in Delfino Plaza's Courthouse where they did that messed-up trial, I fell into Wendy's Ice Palace from that corny TV show, I got washed up on Bowser's pirate ship, and I fell through Manhattan to Baby Bowser's place!"
"Calm down, Luigi," Mario said. "It was just a simulation Bowser put you through. Me and Yoshi went through our worst nightmares too."
"I'm sorry, bro. It was just too much for me."
"I understand. But the good news is all of us are back together!" Mario declared happily.
"Yeah!" "Oh joy!" Alex and Yoshi cheered. Everyone high-fived each other, relieved that the worst was over.
"All right-y! It's time for the final battle!" Mario exclaimed. "Down the west hall we go!"
Mario led Luigi, Yoshi, and Alex down the west hall. The invisible barrier disappeared in a split-second electric flash, allowing them to go through the door.
