"SEVERUS TOBIAS SNAPE YOU FOOL!" he jumped as Eileen's voice thundered from behind him. He whirled around looking furious as all hell.

"How dare you shout at me? I saved everyone! I realise I shouldn't have died but there is nothing I can do about that now. I mean really mother shouting at me like that?" he asked sounding very disappointed shocked when she stopped and stared at him with her mouth hanging open in shock.

"Dead? Severus you are many things and a fool amongst them but you are most certainly not dead. Yes I know you're here but you were involved in a soul bond with Lillian Marie. She is wonderful you know. I daresay she would even make a better head of Slytherin house then you. You are now married sweetheart!" she said shocked as he cried.

"I had no desire to get married to her and she felt the same way. We gave magically binding vows mum. We'll both be squibs now" he thundered out looking angrier then she'd ever seen him.

"WHAT A FUCKING WASTE! I did not do all of this to end up a damn squib!" he said as he punched the air and meeting not resistance once more cried.

"Severus I just told you you're not dead and neither are you a squib. These things happen naturally and cannot affect a magical vow. She is the only girl I have ever thought of as remotely good enough for you. I am fool Severus don't be like me. When you get home again read that note from the bank. It will change your life. It was always me and my choices they were scared of you know. I have something to tell you now which will also change your life and I beg you not to hate me for it!" she pleaded as he looked at her in shock himself. He had never seen her so nervous in his life.

"Mum you know you can tell me anything. I shall try not to judge you if I can help it. What is it?" he asked as she looked pale white and shuddered.

"Do you remember the summer of seventy five where I got six and ended up in hospital? Well they told Tobias I had a bad infection but they lied to him. I made them lie about me using magic and an illegal wand I had. I had no choice. Tobias' drinking was getting worse and worse. He had almost killed me and I had no choice. That summer on August the twenty fifth I gave birth to a magical girl. He couldn't know about it as he would have killed her and me. I couldn't risk it so I never told anyone. You have no idea how frightening that man was" she said crying so hard it almost broke his heart. How many times his drunken father had almost killed them both he could no longer recall.

"I named her Maxine and had her adopted out. I got out of hospital but took her to the magical adoption agency first instead of heading home. I waited there and Maxine was adopted by the Abbot family. They changed her name to Hannah and that was it. She is fifteen and is currently in Ravenclaw house Severus. Please tell her about me and tell her I am sorry. I truly am sorry. We were going out you see and he'd had one too many as usual. He crashed the car Severus and killed us all. The authorities decided not to tell you that because it would scar you for life. Oh Severus I'm such a failure I am so sorry!" she said as he cradled her close. He had known it had been his fathers fault his mother died. Just because he had never voiced that aloud didn't mean he didn't know about it. He had never known the real way she had died but there had never been any doubt his father had been the one responsible for it.

"Oh mum I will tell Hannah about it I swear. I have always thought she looked a lot like me actually but didn't think it was an appropriate thought to have about a student. I will call her parents into the school and discuss it with them. I am so happy to have a sister mum. I am sorry you went through such hell but I really must ask why didn't leave him mum?" he asked as though it pained him greatly.

"He owned a shotgun Severus. He said if ever left he'd use it to kill you so I could never go! I could never leave. I am so sorry my son. I will always love you!" she said as she faded away slowly.

"I love you mum!" he called out as she left and he awoke himself gasping out Hannah as Lily looked at him in confusion. Who was this Hannah he was mentioning? Should she be worried? However he wasn't even looking at her.

"Poppy! Where is Hannah Abbott! I much desire to see her now. Please can you contact her parents and ask them to come to the school it's an emergency!" he asked as she looked at him dubiously.

"Ok Severus I will do it if it means that much to you but you are not to leave that bed mister. You still have two days of recovering left to do!" she said as she left to make the floo calls. Ten minutes later the Abbots were staring at him wondering why he had called.

"Professor Snape is Hannah in trouble? Is that why you wanted to see us?" her mother asked worriedly as he said no.

"No she is not in trouble however tonight I experienced a soul bond and got to meet my mother in heaven momentarily who informed me that due to being in life threatening situations with my muggle alcoholic father she'd had to give her daughter up for adoption. That girl was Hannah. I have always thought we looked very similar indeed. I am so proud as she is one of my best students. I wish to get to know her but know this; it is not my intention to take her from you. You are her parents and always will be!" he said wisely as they both gasped.

"Severus I am so sorry to hear that about your mother. I had no idea. I am happy Hannah is such a good student though. Poppy please get Hannah now. We need to have a chat" she said as Hannah was called down to the hospital wing and looked highly alarmed when she saw her mum and Professor Snape there.

"I swear mum it wasn't me. I didn't do whatever is wrong with Professor Snape! Please believe me!" she said looking terrified.

"Hannah you are not in trouble but you must take a seat. We have just learned that your birth mother was in a very dangerous situation with a muggle man who was exceptionally violent when she had you. It is for this reason she put you up for adoption. She did all she could to keep you safe and I shall be forever grateful to her for it. When we got you it made our lives complete because we didn't know if I could have children or not. Obviously we now know that's not true because of your siblings but due to a personal experience Professor Snape was just involved in he got the opportunity to meet his dead mother who informed him he was your biological brother" she said calmly as her husband held her hand for support. Hannah looked around and sighed in relief shocking people there.

"I have always known we looked so alike sir and it always bothered me. I wanted to ask you about it but it would have been inappropriate to do so. I am happy to know now though. Does this mean I can spend time with you outside of school?" she asked as he smiled at her enthusiasm. In reality he could never truly hate his mother. She had done the best with what she had and it had kept Hannah safe so he wasn't complaining.

"Hannah I was involved in soul bond and am now married to Professor Evans here. She will obviously continue to go by that name at work as it would be confusing otherwise. Now in order to avoid any problems I will be announcing it to the whole school about you being my sister. Anyone who bothers you about it will punished severely. I shall be explaining that none of us knew anything about it before now. When we are alone and or not around other students please call me Severus. I am not seeking to replace your parents and they know this!" he said as she smiled at him.

"Ok Severus thank you. I was worried about that. At long last I have answers to my questions. I know about soul bonds. I've read all about them and it's really rare and romantic. Oh don't you just love romance! Congratulations to you both Professor!" she said addressing Lily who was shocked out of her stupor and jumped a bit at being addressed at all.

"Thank you Hannah that's very kind of you. Now then I will write you a note for the prefects for being late back to your common room. If Professor Flitwick is there you can tell him about what happened ok. I know I speak for us both Hannah when I say you will not be treated any differently in either of our classes so don't worry about that ok? People may ask you what 'the greasy dungeon bat' is like outside of classes and you can just say he's very normal. No need to look so shocked. All the Professors including him know the students say that about him after all it is very funny indeed!" she said giggling as Severus shot her a mock glare and then laughed. It was so unusual to see her usually very stern Professor turned brother laughing. After catching up with Severus and her new brother and sister in law Hannah returned to Ravenclaw a huge smile on her face. She had been terrified he'd try and take her from her family but was relieved when it had been the first thing he had said he wouldn't do.

Filius met her on the way back and she showed him the note. After explaining everything to him he was shocked but very happy for her. "Goodnight Miss Abbott. Get a good nights rest you'll need it. I will excuse you from your first lesson which is mine tomorrow to get the extra sleep you need. You won't die from missing one lesson and a tired pupil is a bad pupil as I always say!" he said smiling at her.

"Thank you Professor I appreciate it! Goodnight sir" she said going up to her room to sleep. Back in the hospital wing Dumbledore had been called and told the news. He was delighted for them both and indeed Hannah. He would announce it when Severus was there in two days time. Leaving the hospital Lily kissed Severus once more and returned to her rooms to sleep. It would be interesting when he had a spare moment and read that letter.
