Chapter 36

"My mama always told me that I'd make it
That I'd make it, so I made it
I put my back into and my heart in it
So I did it, yeah, I did it" – Miley Cyrus.

The night was cold and quiet just as Rukia expected it to be.

Grimmjow and Ichigo were tense while looking around them as if they were scared that someone might show up out of nowhere, Rukia was way more at ease. She couldn't recognize the streets anymore and every once in a while they would have to turn into a dark alley but it didn't bother her, the memories were blurry now but when she escaped from the convent she spent a lot of time around this area, perhaps that's why she didn't feel fear, it was like being back to an important part of her childhood.

"Are you sure this is the way?" Ichigo asked Grimmjow, his voice was low.

"If you doubt me you can always look for another route by yourself," Grimmjow suggested sardonically "I wouldn't mind to spend this fine night alone with the Princess."

Ichigo scoffed.

"So, this is your idea of a date? Quite romantic" he joked and Grimmjow glared at him.

"At least I'm original," he excused himself "have you actually taken her on a date?"

Ichigo frowned.

"We have been busy," he said defensively "didn't you hear that her father almost killed us on a car accident?"

Grimmjow shrugged.

"Now" Rukia interrupted annoyed "if both of you could stop speaking as if I'm not here, that would be great."

Both Ichigo and Grimmjow chuckled.

"We're two blocks away from the orphanage," Grimmjow announced seriously after a few seconds "I assume that you wanted to come at night because you have no plans of asking for that letter peacefully."

Rukia nodded.

"I'm going to steal it" she confirmed with full confidence.

Ichigo fought the urge to groan.

"We better not end up in jail" he said annoyed "we have a soccer match the day after tomorrow."

Grimmjow nodded as they turned in the corner.

"Well, Princess" he said while looking at Rukia "welcome back."

Rukia stood there observing the old looking building for a minute, it looked as awful as she remembered. The walls were covered with graffiti, some of the windows were broken and there were wood planks covering them. Did she really live here or was it all a nightmare? She wondered if the rooms were the same or if the same old lady was in charge of the whole place, hopefully not. That old hag could hear even a mouse when she was asleep, Rukia didn't need that sort of problems now.

"Now I need to find a window to get into," she said quietly as they approached the building "you'll both stand guard."

Grimmjow and Ichigo nodded. The three of them rounded the orphanage and luck seemed to be on their side, there was an open window on the back of the building, it was on the first floor. It was small, no adult would be able to fit in, but Rukia could.

Ichigo crouched down before she asked and Rukia stepped carefully on him to reach the window.

"Sorry, carrot top" she whispered and he shook his head.

"You should eat more, Rukia" he joked "I cannot even feel your weight."

Grimmjow stood there looking around making sure that no one was around, he didn't want to say aloud how odd it was for no one to be near the area. The east side was partly known because of its nocturnal life, old men and stupid teenagers drinking and fooling around was the common rule, what was happening? He had a bad feeling and all of his senses were on high alert.

"Hurry up, Princess" Grimmjow said without looking at her "this place is giving me the creeps."

Rukia nodded and with a swift move she got into the building, she fell inside with a soft thud and Ichigo fought the urge to go with her.

"Kurosaki" Grimmjow called "keep your eyes open, something's off."

Ichigo looked at the street expecting to see something but they were the only ones in the area. He then looked at Grimmjow who was tense as fuck with his hands inside his pockets, probably making sure that the knife was still in its place. Ichigo didn't know what was making Grimmjow so uneasy but he knew better than to ask questions, he just hoped that the midget would hurry up.

Much to Rukia's surprise she was in the kitchen. She didn't remember this part of the orphanage, the lady in charge of the food hated her and always ignored Rukia whenever one of the other children would steal or drop her food. Rukia could still remember how horrified her sister was when the doctor told her that, for a five years old, Rukia was sort of malnourished.

Rukia chuckled sadly and braced herself.

It was not a good moment to go down memory lane, she needed to get the letter, she was back but this time she was going to leave this nasty place behind for good. With careful steps she stepped out of the kitchen into a large corridor, she cursed when she realized that she didn't know whether to go left or right, she couldn't risk opening the wrong door and, if memory served right, the matron in charge would sleep on the first floor. Taking a deep breath she walked towards the right and frowned when she realized there were no doors along the corridor, how come she couldn't remember the place?

She stopped walking when she reached the drawing room, it was decorated with old green furniture and an, obviously, unused fireplace. Rukia sighed satisfied, she knew where the office was from here.

"Matron!" someone cried while running down the stairs that were just next to the drawing room and Rukia's eyes widened, without hesitation she ran towards the green sofa and hid behind it. She peeked and noticed a little girl crying on the stairs and a few seconds later the matron came running down the corridor.

Rukia frowned when she noticed how she didn't recognize her, perhaps the whole staff had changed already, it wouldn't be weird after all it had been years since Rukia escaped from this place.

"For heaven's sake child!" the matron yelled angrily and Rukia winced, she was a new matron but the treatment towards the children was the same, Rukia started to tremble. Was she still afraid of angry old women?

"I'm sorry to wake you up, I was having a nightmare and…" the little girl said desperately but the matron interrupted her.

"Then endure it!" the woman yelled and Rukia scowled "no one will adopt a whiny little girl! Off to bed with you!"

"But…" the girl insisted and that was the end of the discussion for the matron, with an enraged face the woman pulled the child's hair and dragged her upstairs to put her to sleep.

Rukia felt pure rage flowing through her, nothing had changed, nothing at all. The women in charge still hated the children, Rukia could actually understand the little girl, she had been the same, looking for the matron whenever she was hungry or whenever she would have a nightmare only to end up punished.

Taking a deep breath Rukia decided to keep going, she had something to do.

Trying to be as quiet as possible she walked towards the door next to the drawing room and smiled when she noticed how it was unlocked. She stepped into the room and observed the smelly office. The huge, old desk was the same and there was a book stack on a corner, there was also a cabinet full of folders and boxes.

Without wasting time she closed the door behind her and walked towards the desk. She started to search for envelopes but there was nothing useful, just bills and food receipts. Sighing heavily she walked towards the cabinet and noticed how disorganized everything was, the children's archives were not arranged in alphabetical order but luckily the years were written over everything. It took a few minutes but in the end she opened a folder and recognized the names, these were the children that lived inside the orphanage at the same time as her. She went through the archives at least three times but her name was missing.

She cursed under her breath.

The old hag probably got rid of her information to hide the fact that she escaped, Rukia thought about giving up then, she had endangered Grimmjow and Ichigo and she was running out of time. She punched the cabinet lightly to get rid of the anger and, in what she thought was a miracle, a box fell with an ugly thud on the floor sprawling all of its contents. Rukia's eyes widened as she saw a pink blanket wrapped around an envelope, she took it and for some reason felt extremely melancholic when she felt the soft fabric, she opened the envelope and her eyes widened as she noticed a letter and a picture.

It was the picture her sister mentioned!

The picture was beautiful, Hisana was smiling next to her mother, they were both wearing traditional kimonos and they were both smiling. Rukia took a look good at her mother, she was skinny and a little bit taller than Hisana, she had fair white skin and violet eyes. Rukia's eyes watered and she turned the picture around, there was something written on the back.

Rukia, once I come back for you I'll tell you all about our mother, okay? With love, your sister Hisana.

"Silly old sister" Rukia whispered and put the picture back on the envelope, she could always read the letter later. She hugged the blanket and turned around, ready to leave the place but she found herself face to face with the new matron.

Rukia gulped nervously.

"My, my" the woman said darkly "what do we have here?"

The night was getting colder and Ichigo was growing impatient, he didn't know what time it was and he didn't want to know. Karin and Yuzu were probably worried sick and while his father was goofy half of the time, if he were to find that Ichigo wasn't at the house there would be hell to pay.

"Do you think she's okay?" Ichigo asked Grimmjow.

"I cannot hear anything coming from the building" he answered and Ichigo could tell that he was as impatient as him "that should be a good sign, perhaps she's still looking for the letter."

Ichigo nodded, he wanted to go back as soon as possible.

"I don't want any trouble" Rukia said seriously "please, step aside."

The matron laughed.

"It's okay," she assured her but Rukia didn't believe her "just leave the things you have on your hands and we'll reach an agreement."

The matron was a slim, dark haired woman with a horrible smile and a huge nose. Rukia didn't want to get into a fight with her, it would take all of her strength and she didn't want to let go off the blanket and the letter, it took so much to get here so she wasn't going to leave empty handed, even if she had to put up a fight.

"This is mine" Rukia said angrily.

The matron scoffed.

"Girl," she said while crossing her arms and looking at Rukia from head to toe "you're well dressed and you look well fed, how come that old thing is yours?"

Rukia frowned.

"I was an orphan here," she admitted "I escaped and left this…"

"Wait a second," the matron said as if she just heard some breaking good news "what's your name?"

"Rukia" she answered without hesitation "my name's Rukia."

The matron laughed and that sound sent shivers down Rukia's spine.

"Oh, silly girl! You're a legend around here!" the matron said as Rukia's eyes widened "my predecessor once told all the children how a rich couple adopted you to hide the fact that you ran away. You should be able to imagine her surprise when she found out that Kuchiki Byakuya had a little sister a few days after that, my God."

Rukia gulped.

"Well, that makes things easier" Rukia tried to reason "let me go and I won't have to involve my brother in this messy situation."

The matron clicked her tongue.

"Does he know where you are?" she asked "something tells me that you're not in position to demand anything."

Rukia hugged the blanket and the letter tightly.

"I don't want problems" Rukia said again "let me go."

"Give it a try, girl" the matron said menacingly "I've had enough of skinny, petulant girls for now."

Rukia frowned, she would've to use her strength.

Grimmjow and Ichigo tensed as the sound of broken glass reached they ears. They both turned around at the same time but Rukia wasn't coming out of the orphanage, they listened intently for a few more seconds and they could tell that Rukia was struggling with something or someone inside the orphanage.

"I'm going in" Grimmjow said and Ichigo nodded.

But they never got the chance to break into the building, because in that moment Rukia literally jumped out of the same window she went in, breaking it on the process, and she fell on the street painfully.

"Princess!"

"Midget!"

Both boys called her at the same time but Rukia knew that they didn't have any time to lose. She stood up quickly, without letting go off the blanket and the letter and looked at Ichigo and Grimmjow with a serious look.

They both looked at her with widened eyes, she was bleeding from her shoulder, she probably cut herself while jumping through the window, and it was obvious how someone slapped her. She looked frantic and in pain, neither of them knew what to do.

"Get us out of here!" she ordered Grimmjow "we have no time!"

Grimmjow nodded and started to run while Ichigo and Rukia followed him. The three teenagers ran as fast as they could, and while Ichigo was dying to ask what was happening he couldn't waste any breath or time. He could tell that Rukia had been hurt but she was hugging a pink baby blanket with all her strength so perhaps the whole thing hadn't been useless.

The three of them turned into an alley and stopped immediately at the sight of three boys, who looked like criminals, waiting for them.

Rukia clicked her tongue frustrated, this couldn't be happening, this was the worst case scenario.

"So" one of the boys said "I was having some nice time, just hanging around, when the matron at my former orphanage calls me and tells me that Rukia, the same violet eyed girl that I used to be friends with, is visiting."

Grimmjow and Ichigo looked at Rukia questioningly.

"What's he talking about?" Ichigo asked her.

Rukia simply shook her head, she was still trying to figure out a way out of this without having to fight.

"Oh, you don't know?" the same boy asked "that girl right there used to live back in the orphanage."

"We know that, dipshit" Grimmjow said menacingly "what he meant by his question is how come, a fucking rat like you, used to be friends with her."

The boy had brown hair, pale face and blue eyes. Rukia could never forget those eyes, he was the one that bullied her the most inside the orphanage, he was the main reason she ran away.

"We used to play a lot didn't we, Rukia?" the boy asked again and she winced.

"You call playing chasing me around just to beat the shit out of me?" she asked angrily "or perhaps were you talking about how you used to drop my food just to make me starve?"

The boy laughed.

"Whenever you were hungry it was easier to chase you around, you were slower" he explained.

Ichigo felt the need to beat the shit out of the boy and judging by Grimmjow's face he was furious too.

"We don't have time" Rukia said ignoring the pain on her shoulder "just let us go, Koichi."

The boy smiled excitedly.

"You remember my name" he said with a nasty smile "that's quite nice, I didn't expect you to remember. I would love to let you go but that would be a waste, why don't we catch up?"

"Go fuck yourself" Rukia said angrily "I have nothing to talk with you."

"I disagree," Koichi said looking at her from head to toe "you turned out gorgeous and, if what the matron said it's true, you're rich. Why don't you stay with me? If we call your sweet rich family they might come for you and give us some money in the process."

Ichigo put himself in front of Rukia.

"If you don't let us go through we'll have to use force" he said threateningly.

Koichi frowned at him and then looked at Grimmjow. Koichi was flanked by two boys but it was plain obvious that they wouldn't win if they were to fight, unfortunately giving up wasn't an option. Ever since he was little he couldn't help but feel the need to bully Rukia and now, that she was older and prettier, he just wanted to have fun for a while. Two boys with striking hair weren't going to change that.

"Is that a challenge?" Koichi asked and to his surprise none of the boys answered, instead Rukia did.

"Yes, it is!" she yelled and, avoiding Ichigo and Grimmjow, she ran straight forward towards Koichi and before he could react she punched him square on the face.

Ichigo and Grimmjow gaped at the scene but rushed to her side when they noticed the other two boys ready to attack her. Grimmjow knocked the one that was on the left first by kicking him on the stomach and pushing him painfully against the wall. Ichigo did almost the same with the one on the right but he was stronger, so when he started to struggle Grimmjow helped him while punching him on the face to knock him out.

Ichigo wanted to tell him how he had everything under control but he never got the chance because Rukia was struggling with Koichi. Somehow she had managed to pin him to the floor and the boy looked enraged.

"Get off me!" he was yelling "crazy bitch!"

"What is it?!" she asked and Ichigo noticed angry tears rolling down her cheeks "aren't you going to punch me like you used to?! I thought you wanted to play with me!"

Koichi lifted his knee then and Rukia felt an intense pain on her stomach, he had successfully knocked out the air out of her but she didn't stop, instead she punched him on the face again and felt satisfied with herself when she heard a bone cracking.

Koichi was unconscious within seconds.

"It was nice seeing you again" Rukia said while standing up and picking up the blanket and the letter "I won't be coming back."

Ichigo and Grimmjow exchanged a look.

"Princess, I think you broke your hand."

Rukia sighed as she saw her hand, and just as Grimmjow said it was broken, the pain was bad but nothing she could handle for a while besides she would probably would have to get treatment until the next day due to the late hour. Luckily they wouldn't get into more fights so she could go back home as soon as possible.

"We should go" she said while ignoring her hand "I already have what I was looking for."

"Not so fast," someone said and five other boys appeared behind them "Koichi might be unconscious but you'll have a harder time dealing with us."

Rukia frowned as Grimmjow and Ichigo put up a defensive pose.

Their night was barely starting.

When Grimmjow's father, Gaku, saw that the three teenagers were back he wondered what kind of fresh hell they went through. Rukia had a broken hand, some bruises and she was bleeding from her shoulder. Kurosaki Ichigo had a bleeding wound on his head and Gaku could tell that the boy was going to have a black eye tomorrow. Grimmjow looked better than his companions, he only had a few bruises although he looked annoyed but that perhaps had something to do with the fact that he was helping Ichigo to keep himself standing.

"A little help would be nice, old man" Grimmjow muttered and Gaku nodded.

He went to the kitchen and came back holding an ice pack, he approached Rukia and put the ice on her swollen hand. The girl smiled politely at him and Gaku wondered for a fraction of second if Kuchiki Byakuya would murder him for wanting to adopt his little sister.

Grimmjow rolled his eyes as he helped Ichigo to take a seat on the couch.

"Okay," he said while taking a seat next to him "we're alive so we can declare tonight a success."

Ichigo nodded as he saw how Grimmjow's father went back to the kitchen.

"As long as we rest I guess we'll be fine for the match" the orange haired teenager said "although I think I have a concussion."

Rukia frowned slightly as she took a seat in front of Ichigo.

"Sorry" she said "I think I'll call the chauffer so he can pick us up, hopefully he won't tell my sister."

Grimmjow scoffed.

"Your chauffer? Won't he panic while seeing this neighborhood?" he asked and then looked at his father "can we take them, old man?"

Gaku nodded.

"Sure," he said kindly "I'm afraid our car might not be as fancy as yours but it'll be safer for you both."

Rukia smiled at him.

"Thank you so much, Gaku-san" she said sweetly.

"Stop flirting, Princess" Grimmjow said seriously and Ichigo nodded "he might end up fighting for your custody with Kuchiki Byakuya."

Rukia pouted.

"Byakuya will kill us when he see us" Ichigo said finally while sighing heavily and Rukia chuckled.

She expected that no one at the house would be awake at this hour.

Rukia decided to use the passenger's seat while Grimmjow and Ichigo got into the backseat. It was amusing to have those two spend so much time together and she was glad they were all back safe and sound, she hugged the blanket and the letter tightly, she just wanted to go back to her room and read the letter. After seeing the picture she already had an idea of what she wanted to do, but she would have to inform her sister first, something was telling Rukia that she would support her.

"Old man," Grimmjow said to his father from the backseat "remember the residential area with mansions with pools and stuck up bastards, that's where she lives."

"Did you just call Byakuya a stuck up bastard?" Ichigo asked casually.

Grimmjow frowned.

"Stop putting words on my mouth, Kurosaki" he said angrily.

Rukia chuckled. The rest of the car ride was peaceful, Rukia did most of the talking while telling Gaku all of her adventures with Grimmjow and how much she appreciated him. She also told him about how troublesome it was for her for Ichigo and Grimmjow to dislike each other, she didn't understand why they couldn't get along, although Gaku laughed hard at her obliviousness while Grimmjow and Ichigo pretended not to hear anything.

"Oh," Gaku said while parking in front of the Kuchiki mansion "you never mentioned you had a twin."

Rukia winced.

"We're not twins" she said worriedly "that's my older sister, she'll kill me."

Ichigo agreed with her, Hisana was at the porch while looking at Rukia completely enraged. The midget was going to get the earful of her life.

"I should probably greet her" Gaku said worriedly "I might be able to help her ease her worries…"

Rukia smiled weakly at him, she didn't find the words to tell him how wrong he was.

"You look like a mess! A bloody mess!" Hisana screeched angrily while pointing at her bleeding shoulder "you were gone for HOURS! Do you have any idea of how worried I was?! I almost took one of Byakuya-sama's pills to calm myself down! What is wrong with you?!"

"Hisana-san…" Ichigo tried to say but Hisana looked at him with an expression that clearly said "shut up, I haven't even started" and Ichigo didn't dare to interfere after that.

"What were you thinking?!" Hisana asked finally.

"I can explain" Rukia said.

Gaku, Grimmjow, Ichigo and Rukia were in the living room while Hisana was pacing in front of them. While she received all of them politely and led them inside the mansion, it was obvious how she wasn't going to listen to reason, she wasn't going to let this go easily.

"I'm waiting for this explanation" Hisana said while crossing her arms impatiently.

Rukia nodded and handed her the pink baby blanket.

Hisana blinked confused as she unfolded it and gasped when she recognized the letter, with trembling hands she opened the envelope and tears rolled down her cheeks when she saw the photograph, it was the only memory she had of her mother. Rukia helped her to sit down on the sofa and every single male in the room looked aside, none of them were good with crying females.

"I haven't read it yet" Rukia said while kneeling in front of her sister and smiling at her "but with this I can proudly say that I'm no longer inside the orphanage, there were no records of me either, it's like I never existed there."

Hisana sobbed as she threw herself at her sister and hugged her with all her might.

"You're such a reckless idiot" Hisana said "why didn't you tell me?"

Rukia hugged her sister back.

"I sort of told Nii-sama," she explained apologetic "you were not supposed to find out until tomorrow, I swear I was going to tell you everything."

Hisana wiped her own tears and stood up, then she looked at Ichigo and Grimmjow. Both teenagers tensed as she approached them with steady steps.

"You helped her? Both of you?"

Grimmjow and Ichigo nodded.

"It was her idea" Ichigo explained "but we couldn't let her go on her own…"

"It wasn't that hard" Grimmjow said while scratching the back of his head awkwardly "although she broke her hand, someone should probably check that."

Without a warning Hisana hugged both boys while chuckling slightly.

"Thank you," she said "thank you so much."

Grimmjow and Ichigo blushed madly.

"Anytime" they both answered at the same time.

"Well," Gaku said awkwardly "I'm glad this is a happy ending."

Hisana smiled at him.

"Please, give me your phone number" she told him politely "I seriously need my husband to know how much you helped our sister tonight, unfortunately he's asleep but I'll make sure to tell him."

Gaku nodded dumbfounded, perhaps Kuchiki Rukia was really a blessing.

Once Gaku and Grimmjow were gone, Hisana sent Ichigo towards his house with the chauffer after giving him a proper earful. Rukia went to her room and took a bath as her sister helped her to put some emergency treatment over her broken hand, Hisana told her that they would call the doctor first thing in the morning.

"So," Hisana said while taking a seat on Rukia's bed, next to her "you managed to get on a crazy suicide mission with your fiancée and his sworn enemy, how do you feel?"

"Pretty good" Rukia said and then took her sister's hand, she knew that Hisana was trying not to touch the subject but Rukia really wanted to read the letter and she wanted to read it with her sister beside her "stay while I read it, okay?"

Hisana nodded as Rukia took the letter out of the envelope, she didn't need to read what was inside because she still remembered every single word she wrote that night. Even then Rukia read aloud for both of them.

Dear Rukia,

I don't know how old you are right now but you probably have a lot of questions. I do not know a lot about orphanages but I want you to know that the fact that you're there does not mean that you do not have a family, quite the contrary, you're really loved.

My name is Hisana and I'm your sister, and I love you a lot, really.

I love you so much that not being near you breaks my heart every single day. You're my only sister, you inherited your gorgeous eyes from our mother and I dream about seeing you grow up happy and healthy, I pray I'll be able to be with you soon so we can be a family again.

I do not have much time left but I want you to know that I'll go back for you, I'll take you out of the orphanage and, once we're together again, I'll tell you everything about our mother.

Wait for me, okay?

With love, your sister.

Rukia sighed as she folded the letter carefully and placed it on her bedside table, after that she lay down and rested her head on her sister's lap. She used to do this a lot when she was younger before going to sleep.

"You're an idiot," Rukia said as Hisana caressed her hair kindly "seriously."

Hisana chuckled as she pretended not to see Rukia crying.

"How did it feel to go back?" Hisana asked curiously, it had been years ever since they talked about the orphanage, Rukia probably needed to let it out a little and Hisana really wanted to know everything that she went through with Grimmjow and Ichigo.

"Horrible" Rukia said and then took a deep breath.

Rukia told her everything that happened just a few hours earlier, including how she saw the matron abusing a little girl. She told her how hopeless she felt inside there and how thankful she was at the fact that she and Byakuya were able to find her so many years before. She also told her how it felt to find her stuff and how now that the blanket, the letter and the picture were on her hands she felt really free.

"I'm sorry" Hisana said sadly "I know it was hard…"

"I'm with you now" Rukia said interrupting her "so it doesn't matter anymore."

Hisana nodded, that was true. Now that they were together it didn't matter, although Hisana couldn't help but think about that awful place, she wanted to know if there was anything she could do for those children, especially the little girl Rukia mentioned.

"I want to do one last thing" Rukia said carefully "but I'll need your permission, otherwise I'll have to escape and something tells me that you won't appreciate that."

Hisana sighed, she already knew what Rukia was thinking, the determination behind her eyes was unmistakable. It was the same determination her mother had the day she decided to leave her father, the same determination she mustered the day she found out she was pregnant with Rukia.

"Should I guess?" Hisana asked "you want to face him, right?"

Rukia nodded, she was glad that there was no need for them to say their father's name aloud.

"I don't want you to go," Hisana said with a soft voice "at least not alone."

"I happen to know two very reliable boys" Rukia said with a smile and Hisana chuckled.

"Tell me your whole plan" she ordered "that way when you tell everything to Byakuya-sama I won't panic."

Rukia told her everything and Hisana's eyes widened, it was quite an elaborate plan and it have several flaws but she knew better than try to stop Rukia so in the end she decided to support her. Although she was going to be worried sick the whole time but the fact that Ichigo and Grimmjow were going to be with her gave her some comfort.

"You have to promise me to come back safe and sound" Hisana told her seriously "I won't be at ease until your back in one piece, promise me you'll come back."

"I promise" Rukia said before falling completely asleep on her sister's lap.

The next day Rukia decided that it was time. She had her family's support and Grimmjow and Ichigo agreed to go with her, after a lot of yelling over the phone, so she would go and she would come back with whatever her mother left for her. She still had to convince Nii-sama but she knew that in the end he would also support her so without hesitating she grabbed her cellphone and called Makoto.

"Hello? Who is it?" he answered quite rudely.

Rukia took a deep breath, she hated his voice.

"It's me, Rukia" she said with a trembling voice and she heard him gasping at the other side of the line "I'm calling because I got the message and…" she gulped, could she really do it? This was a dangerous man, it didn't matter that he was her father, she didn't trust him.

"And?" Makoto pressured after her few seconds of silence.

"I'll go to Kyoto with you" Rukia said finally while clenching her fists "there's a soccer match at my school tomorrow so after it's over I'll meet you at the train station."

Makoto chuckled at the other side of the line and Rukia shuddered.

"I knew you were smarter than your sister!" he said and Rukia frowned "I'll see you there, don't worry, we'll finally be a family."

Rukia hung up after that and glared at her phone.

"I'll make you accountable," she swore angrily "you'll pay for what you did to my mother and my sister."

Now all that was left was to wait for the match.
