Chapter 24th
It was the next day after arriving back home from Stillwater, PA. Gibbs was getting himself ready for the drive over to the train depot to meet up with Director Vance and the others.
Loreile was watching her husband be ready for the off the books operation. She had the awful feeling something was going to happened. However she wasn't going to express her fear to the famous Leroy Jethro Gibbs.
Checking his two weapons on him one is his coat pocket and the other inside his ankle holster. He looked up to see her concern and expression needing to say something. But she didn't accept to kiss him on his lips before leaving the house.
"Be safe Jethro." She said with him walking out the door and to his grey truck. While checking across the street to see the lights were still on for Phineas place. He wasn't sitting on the front porch like always. He will find out another time as to what had happen via email.
He gets into his truck checking the time. He started up his truck giving himself a moment to breath before moving off...
Director Leon Vance at the location used just outside the depot to have his quick briefing with everyone. Gibbs had arrived parking across the street to walk over to everyone.
"Ok does everybody know what they have to do with this operation?" He will asked when Gibbs wearing his blue vest and NCIS cap covering his tired blue eyes came back with a response.
"I do. But what about Hernandez?" Special Agent Gibbs needed to asked even though McGee had called him.
"Not a chance. Our sources say he won't be going along with his associates. He had rather see them be arrested or killed during the operation. Otherwise we need to get into place with your team members now." Checking his watch on his left wrist.
Sometime later...
They had started with the front section of the two military trains with the engineers to move out and be escorted elsewhere from the line of fire. While one NCIS agent escorted them to the security section of the back part of the platform.
Once Gibbs, McGee and Torres moved in. Gunfire erupted coming from another section. However nothing so far for where they were going. Moving onto the first train and the compartment. There was nothing at all until moving into the second when a lone gunman fired his weapon at the three of them with McGee pushing Gibbs out of the way hard with the spray of bullets missing him. However one did Nick 's arm just slightly. Even though he refused to head back out.
"No way in hell will I leave now. I will be fine. We just need to get the bastards right now. " Nick said with holding his arm for the moment and with tying it off to cut the flow of blood.
Meanwhile McGee was helping Gibbs off the floor with a grunt of a moan coming from him. He wasn't sure on whether it was his back or knee. However they all had a job to be done. Moving again the shooter had moved out to another location while other NCIS agents were able to arrest four of Hernandez men so far.
They moved in further. One man was hiding and two others fired at the three NCIS agents to miss moving quickly to cover themselves. Agent Gibbs fired back to hit one while McGee hit the other. Both were dead checking for any life signs. "Move up ahead you two while I check further." Gibbs will give the order with the both agents having to fight him on the order. Otherwise Torres and McGee moved off slowly...
Gibbs began to look under the seats and top compartments big enough to hide anyone. Watching Torres and McGee enter the next compartment. The lone gunman hiding dropped down to point his weapon at Gibbs back to catch him off guard. "Hold it right there Special Agent Gibbs! Now turn around and face me." He will say with pointing the gun harder into his back to have him grunt slightly.
He turns around to face him. Meanwhile McGee had stopped telling Torres that he didn't like what Gibbs was doing.
"I am going back to see what is taking him so long." McGee will say to Nick Torres holding his arm..."You're staying here to take care of the arm." He ordered having to be the senior field agent..
Mcgee moved back towards the other compartments being quiet as a mouse. However looking through the glass. He saw Gibbs and another man with a weapon holding it at him. McGee had to try if he was able to with trying to take him out with slowly opening the door without the both of them noticing.
Taking a deep breath with his hand opening the door slowly and breathing out. He fired his weapon at the man hitting the back of his head. Blood was splatter into Gibbs face and having him breathing hard and his heart rate racing.
Looking down at the body and seeing McGee running over to him. "Boss are you alright?" Checking his face with the blood and handing him a cloth to wipe it off the best he could.
"I seem to be Tim. I just never expected to be caught dead to rights with one of Hernandez men. I had just wished you had taken out Hernandez himself."
"I would of thought so as well boss. We have better get moving again and no doubt many of Hernandez men had been captured or killed?" Tim will say with Gibbs agreeing...
The three of them had met up again to move further into the other compartments when another man fired. However this time they had gotten him nicking him in the shoulder to take him outside for where Director Vance and three other agents were waiting outside.
"Here is another trophy Director that your SECNAV can interrogate." Gibbs will say to Vance. "However what is the count so far besides the ones we took out inside the compartments dead which is four."
"If the count is correct it comes to 18 with two more missing." Vance said...
"Well in this case I am taking McGee with me inside to check one more time. Nick you're going to the emergency room to have that arm checked out. Understood?" Gibbs had ordered with Torres hating the idea of going to the hospital and needing to be in the think of things.
