Keith stood in the infirmary, watching Shiro through the glass of the healing pod. "I don't know how to be the leader that you want me to be." He said, he's supporting a bruised cheek and his arms are folded.
The door slid open to reveal Pidge and Hunk, arguing over something with Lance right behind them.
"Like I'm telling you, Hunk. You can't do that." Lance was saying and the three stopped to crowd the door.
"Why not?" Hunk asked with a frown.
"Because stapling a $20 dollar bill on a petition is illegal, and it's bribery." Pidge answered simply, she turns and stops short. "Hi Keith." She greets.
He nods. "Hi Pidge." He moves to the panel to check Shiro's progress. "I should apologize for earler, when I decked Lance."
Pidge looked down for a long moment, then looked back up at him. "Just don't do it again."
Keith nods. "I can do that."
Lance snorts. "Shiro's pet."
Hunk turns to him. "Actually Lance." He takes a few steps forwards and quickly hides behind Keith, poking his head out from Keith's left shoulder. "You did start it."
"WHAT!?" Lance cried. "Ow!" He cried when a hand smacked him upside the head and he stumbled into the room, holding his head. Keith, Pidge, and Hunk turned from looking at Lance to the door to see Celestia now standing in the doorframe.
"If you insist on acting like a child, I'll turn you into one and place you in Pidge's care." She told Lance, who gulped.
"Awesome!" Pidge cried happily. "I always wanted a younger sibling!" She folds her arms. "I'm so tired of being the youngest."
Lance started to say something.
Celestia sighed tiredly as she placed her left hand on her hip. "Alright." She raised her right hand and said a spell.
Hunk quickly ducked behind Keith again, but the spell was meant for Lance. The blue Paladin shone brightly for a moment, when the light died down Lance is now an elderly man holding a cane.
Both Pidge and Hunk broke into laughter.
"Hey!" Lance waved the cane in his hand. "Change me back!" He then fell forward to lean heavily on his cane.
Hunk leaned on Keith as he laughed hard, while Pidge was leaning on the panel as she also laughed hard, Keith also laughed but not as hard as the other two.
"It's not funny!" Lance cried with anger, glaring at the three, then turned to Celestia. "Please change me back!" He whines.
"Paladins, come to the bridge now!" Allura's voice called over the speakers in an urgent and almost panic voice.
The team looked at each other. Then Hunk, Pidge, and Celestia bolts from the room. Keith smirks as he turns to Lance.
"Keith! I'm sorry!" He cries. "I'm sorry for decking you!" He zooms up to him and hugs him. "Please, tell her to change me back!" He cries with animated tears.
Keith growls. "McClain, get off me!" He shoves Lance off, then grabs his arm. "Come on!"
XxXxXxXxX
On the bridge, Allura stood on the Platform as the Castle Of Lions flew through space. The doors opened to reveal Hunk, Pidge, and Celestia hurrying in as the alarms blared. A few minutes later the door opened again to reveal Keith walking in, Lance forced to lean on Keith as the two walked in.
"Celestia!" Allura scolded as the emergency alarm blared. "Change him back." She orders. "We need all the Paladins to be fast on their feet and thinking. Not slow!"
Sighing, Celestia turned to Lance and cast out the counter spell. Returning Lance back to his age.
Lance sprang to his feet with a delighted cheer. "Yeah!" He cheers, then does a happy dance in front of his station.
Pidge frowns. "I thought he was taller." Her comment makes Lance quickly stop and look at her.
"Excuse me?" He raises an eyebrow.
"I thought he was shorter." Hunk adds his own comment.
"Hey!" Lance cried, then plopped down at his station and folds his arms.
"Paladins, focus!" Allura snapped.
"What's going on, Princess?" Keith asked, now sitting in the black Paladin's station.
Pidge nods. "Yeah, these have never gone off before."
Celestia gasps. She stands up and walks up to platform to stand next to Allura, her eyes on the screen. "Is that what I think it is?"
Allura slowly nods. "It is."
Lance turns his gaze to both Princesses. "Allura, Celestia. What is it?"
Hunk scratched his head, looking at both Alteans and Princess Celestia. "Looks like you guys just saw a ghost."
"That's just the thing." Coran finally moved, to look at him. "It's an old Altean distress code. One used by King Alfor's ships!"
Allura clasps her hands together. "Could it be? Are we not the last Alteans alive?"
Celestia frowned, turning to her. "Allura."
Keith leaned forward in his seat. "Wait. What is someone is cloning the signal to try and lure us in?"
Celestia nods. "Yeah. I agree with Keith. We cannot trust Lotor."
"I've taken your words under advisement. The signal is from an Altean ship, and we're going to find it." Allura said as she activates the teludav, and the castle flew through the wormhole.
XxXxXxXx
The team saw what looked like the tail end of a ship, stuck in a glowing hole of space.
"That looks like a Tel-Galax exploration shuttle." Celestia said with a frown. "One of King Alfor's deep space vessels."
Coran ran the ship's ID through the castle's database. "According to the ship's identification code, it's Commander Trayling ship. But I don't see any records of its destination or mission."
"What happened to it?" Lance asked.
"Is it stuck in a wormhole?" Hunk asked as he stared at the screen.
"That's unlike any wormhole I've ever seen." Coran said with a shake of his head.
Pidge studied the holographic screen in front of her. "There's a massive amount of energy emanating from it, center right where the ship is stuck."
Allura stared at the screen. "We have to see if anyone is aboard. They may need our help."
"We could send a probe over to it, see if we can get some kind of idea what this thing is." Pidge suggested.
Keith turned her. "Do it."
The youngest launched the probe, and studied the readings that were coming back. "The energy shows no signs of radioactive decay, and it's not thermal."
"It's not gravitational, our probe is steady on course, and the light is radiating out." Hunk said as he stared at the screen. "Not in, like it would in a black hole."
Prige frowns. "But out from where?"
Coran studied the readings that he was receiving. "That energy signal, I know it." His eyes brightened and grew. "It's radiating quintessence!"
Everyone watched the probe as it hit the glowing energy. It exploded and all the transmissions disappeared.
"Oooh! That's weird." Hunk said, as Lance gaped as his eyes grew.
"Ok, well. Let's not go anywhere near there."
Allura stood her ground. "We must!"
Hunk shook his head. "Hold on. Didn't you see what happened?"
Allura kept her gaze forward. "Voltron's compositional strength far exceeds anything else in the universe. We recieved an Altean distress call, which must mean that someone is alive on that ship. We are Paladins of Voltron, and we must help."
Keith turns in his seat. "Princess, I still think that this whole thing is a trap."
Celestia nods. "Yes. Allura, I don't like this! It does not feel right!"
"Even if it's not a trap, it's far too dangerous to go in there." Coran voiced.
Allura frowned as she looked around at everyone. "I'll do it myself if I have to." She turned and ran out of the bridge.
"Lance! stop her!" Celestia cried in panic, looking at him. Lance quickly stood and hurried towards the door.
"Lance!"
The blue Paladin slid to a stop and turned back around to see Keith stand up from his station.
"We better go with her." The red Paladin finished.
XxXxXxXxXx
After refusing to go with, Celestia stayed on the bridge with Coran. The two watched as the Lions flew off then formed Voltron. Keith's voice came through the speaker.
"Alright, let's take it slow. Pidge, any chance you can explain what I see right now?"
"The euclidian space around the ship is some kind of anornaly. But the energy source doesn't originate from anything that registers with my understanding of how reality works."
Hunk's voice came next. "I'll scan the ship for biorhythms." He's quiet for a few moments. "That's strange. I'm not picking up any signs of life on the ship."
"Maybe not on this half." Allura spoke. "But there is more to this ship then we are seeing. We need to go through there."
"What!?" Celestia cried. "No!"
"I agree with Celestia." Lance's voice came through. "That glowly, explodey area?"
"Pidge, keep an eye on Voltron's vitals." Keith's voice came back. "Everyone, be prepared to abort if things get hairy."
"Roger that. Ready to abort immediately." Hunk replied.
Voltron started to enter the energy field, and Pidge's voice came through the speakers. "Guys, my sensors are going crazy. Technically we should be torn apart. But somehow, Voltron is completely unaffected by the stress of the spatial distortion."
Voltron disappeared through the energy, and it disappeared from screen.
"No!" Coran gasped.
"What happened!?" Celestia cried. "Where's Voltron!?"
The Altean man shook his head. "I don't know."
XxXxXxXx
Celestia paced the bridge as Coran worked at his station. "I can't understand anything your saying, but I'll assume by your tone that what you said was an insult." Coran told the four Altean mice, who squeaked at him before hurrying off the station and ran over to the other Princess.
"Oooh!" She smiled as she knelt down with her hands cupped and the four mice climbed into her hands. "Is Coran being mean to you again?" She coed as she stood up with the mice in the palms of her hands.
After a little while longer, Voltron appeared in their reality with a giant rock. Coran cheered.
"You're back! Oh, thank the ancients!" He began to fly the castle. "Paladins, can you hear me? Are you ok?"
Suddenly, an explostion rocked the Caslte Of Lions. Both Coran and Celestia watched as Lotor's ship appeared, followed by smaller vessels, they hooked cables to the rock and pulled it into hyperspace and Lotor's ship joined it.
Allura's voice is weak. "Coran, we're here."
XxXxXxXx
Celestia sighed as she sat at her vanity, combing her wet hair. There's a knock on her door, then Keith entered.
She smiled at his reflection. "Hi."
"Hi." He sits down on the edge of her bed. "I didn't care for that reality."
Celestia stopped in mid stroke of combing, and turned to him. "Parden?"
He nods. "Yeah. It was a different reality." He looked straight at her. "You were not apart of it, they never had any records of you at all."
She lowered her comb, placing it back on the vanity. "That's scary." She said as she looked at herself in the mirror.
Keith pushed himself off the bed and walked up to stand behind her. "That's what Hunk said." He said as he wrapped his arms around her waist, but frowned when she pushed him away.
She stood up. "I have always believed that there are mulitible realities besides our own." She pauses. "What did Lotor want with that rock you were hailing?"
Keith shook his head. "I don't know." He sighed. "He blind sided us that's for sure."
Celestia walked up to him. "Well, I exsist, don't I?"
"Of course you do. I'm talking to you and looking at you."
She grabbed his hand. "And so are you!" She pulls him towards her bed.
