AN/ Not much to say, just to enjoy :)

Also slightly shorter than normal.

-END OF AN-

Laura knocks on the door of the hospital room having made her way to the hospital the next day to check on Nikolas. She expects no answer like last night but instead hears a "Come in."

It's not Nikolas' voice though. And it's not a doctor or even Liz attending to her, no she knows this man's voice. As she steps inside she realizes it's Julian's voice that was talking. He's sitting in the chair by his sister, the same one Nikolas was sitting in restlessly beforehand. In the corner stood Franco leaning against the wall facing Julian.

"Oh," Laura says, not upset to see the pair just shocked. "I was just coming to check on Ava..and Nikolas."

"Liz convinced Nikolas to go take care of himself, he left ten minutes ago." Franco said. "Ava's no different..."

Laura just nodded. There was a wierd silence, the trio being an odd trio. Sure Franco and Julian got along okay, and Laura liked Franco, but the three alone together was just weird.

"I have an update on Valentin." She spoke breaking the silence.

Both boys looked up from where they had looked off to during the silence and looked directly at her, desperate to hear what she has to say, cautiously of course.

"He's being held and they have enough to hold him longer-term." Laura shares.

Both boys give a sigh of relief. Julian even reaches out and puts his hand on Ava's as to almost try and share with her it was okay and they'd make him pay.

"Did they find anything big at the crime scene?" Franco asks. "Something solid, irrefutable, a guaranteed ticket to Pentonville for him?"

"I don't have too many details but I do know they are still looking for the weapon." Laura answers. "They're looking right now actually."

Franco nods in acknowledgment. This wasn't really good or bad news. Just another thing to wait for and hope is found so they can nail Valentin.

"Anything else we need to know?" Julian asks.

"Yeah, his bail hearing is today." She says.

"They can't give him bail!" Julian cries out in protest to the idea.

"They're gonna ask that he's not given bail." She says. "I'm confident that they'll deny him. He tried to flee with charlotte once."

Julian wanted to not worry but he did, he always would with his sister.

"I've heard he's pleasing not guilty."

"What?!" Franco asks, upset. "We saw him!"

"I know." Laura shrugs.

"I'm going down to the station, I still have like 40 minutes until my shift starts." Franco says stepping off from the wall. "I'm talking to the bastard."

"I don't know if that's the best idea." Laura says, knowing Franco can get mad.

"I'm not gonna hurt the guy...again." Franco says holding his hands up in defense. "I'm gonna tell him that he needs to save everyone the time and the pain and confess! I'm gonna make him confess to me."

"Valentin doesn't work like that." Laura tells him. She understood him, she did, but she understood Valentin more than Franco did and he'd gain nothing.

"Well i'm gonna make him." Franco says leaving the room, closing the door a bit too hard in his eagerness to go and his anger lead determination leaving Laura and Julian together.

This time the room wasn't left with awkwardness though as Julian turned his attention back to Ava.

"I'm really sorry about Ava, I hate seeing her like this." Laura offered her sincerest apologizes to the man.

"Thank you, Laura."

She proceeded to make her way out turning before leaving to see Julian looking over his baby sister clutching her hand like she'd slip through his hands.

"You hear that? We can add Laura to the list of people who wanna see you wake up." Julian says trying to sound positive for her sake, incase she could hear. He had to imagine she could hear because he needed to talk to her for his sake or else he'd probably go mad.

He reaches his other hand on top of the one currently clutching of hers, both his hands now holding onto her limp hand. He looked down at the hand and saw it was perfectly manicured, something Ava definitely had done for the party, needing it to be elegant.

He knew his sister well despite meeting her when they were both adults. Sure they started off as less of siblings as mob partners, but even then he couldn't help but admire her. She was such a successful badass, someone who was so good at so many things. Looking back he doesn't know why it took so long for him to realize he loved her.

He was so blind back then though, putting the mob and himself before anything and everything. He could dwell on all the time missed. The time he didn't know she even existed, the time he spent thinking of her as an asset and not his family, and even the times he turned against her. He couldn't dwell on the time missed because he isn't even guaranteed a future to make things up with her.
