Legendary Aces
Chapter 34: Discovery
When history witnesses a great change, Razgriz reveals itself, first as a dark demon.
As a demon, it uses its power to rain death upon the land, and then it dies.
However, after a period of slumber, Razgriz returns, this time, as a great hero.
After it restores peace, Razgriz departs, living only in memory as a legend.

We had just finished talking to President Harling and General Bartlett. Grimm and Snow went to grab a bite to eat, while my mother, Yami, Nagase, and Chopper followed Doran and me back to our room. As soon as we entered, I saw the kids lying on the bed staring blankly at the TV. None of them paid us any attention, so I clapped my hands.
"Mom!" said Rei, startled.
"Want to go out to eat?" I asked. I glanced at everyone that followed us to our room. "You, too?"
As I looked at Yami, she had an odd look on her face. "Umm..."
"Yami... are you okay?"
Mom glanced at her just in time to see Yami clamp her hand over her mouth and run to the bathroom. Mom and I chased after her. She was already vomiting by the time we got in there.
"You never get sick," Mom said.
"I don't know." She raised up and cleaned her mouth with a nearby washrag. "I was feeling fine not even two minutes ago, then I started feeling queasy." The realization struck. "No..."
"Okay, come on, Yami," Mom said, "we're going see the doctor."
"Huh? I'm not going to a doctor! I'm fine!"
"You probably are fine," I said. "But you just told us you think you're pregnant, and now this?"
"Morning sickness," Mom said. "Let's go. The doctor will confirm it."
"I'm not going to see a doctor!"
I gave her the evil eye. She turned away, to Mom, but she was giving her the evil eye, too.
"Fine, I'll go."
Mom and I started to escort, but as soon as we entered the hallway, Mom said, "Kye, you go out with everyone. I've got this."
I raised my eyebrow at her.
"Look, you've been through a lot lately. Your kids are here and excited to go out with their parents."
"But-"
She glared at me, silently saying, Parents always put their kids first. Both of my daughters need me right now. By helping Yami without you, I'm helping you both at the same time. Go have fun with your own kids.
I smiled at her, they left, and I turned back to the kids. "Well, Grandma is taking Aunt Yami to the doctor, and Mom is taking everyone still here out to eat."
All three of my kids smiled and hopped off the bed.
"Doran, Nagase, Chopper?" I asked.
"You're not asking me if I'm coming for food, right?" Doran said.
"I know better, you're a bottomless pit." I glanced to Chopper. "You, too."
"I take offense to that," Chopper said.
"No you don't," I said. "Nagase?"
"I was regretting not going with Grimm and Snow, but not anymore."
"It's settled then. Let's go!"
"Hey! What about me?" came a voice I know all too well from behind us. It was Michelle.
"Michelle."
"Kye."
Nagase leaned toward Doran and whispered, "What's with the intensity."
"They've been like that for a long time. Childhood rivalry or something like that."
"Catfight," Chopper whispered.
"Not here!" Doran said, his voice raised only slightly.
"But-" I muttered.
He raised his eyebrow.
"Damn, you stopped them in their tracks," Chopper laughed.
I glared at him.
"Come on, Kid, that was funny!"
I sighed. "You know we could hear all of that."
"Yeah, yeah," Doran said. "Michelle, we're going out for food."
"'Kay," she said. She and I started leading the way. "You know, Kye, I heard through the grapevine that your Mom finished the X-03. How is it? Come on, spill the beans! We're still flying X-01s! Drayon won't give us X-02s!"
"Well, you see, it's pretty great. It's like-"
-Chopper-
"Well you see, it's pretty great. It's like-"
They walked out of earshot pretty fast.
"Well that took a 180," I said. "So those two are rivals or friends or what?"
"All of the above," Joey said. "When they get like this, they walk pretty fast." She glared up at Doran. "I'm hungry, so you better hurry!"
"Okay, okay," he said as he and the rest of us started following.

I all but drug Yami away from Kye and the others.
"Mom, slow down!"
"No, Ma'am. We're finding the doctor."
I didn't know where the White House Physician's office was, so found Harling instead. He had an agent take us straight to the doctor.
The doctor gave Yami the typical rundown of checks before asking for a urine sample. He returned several minutes later with the results.
"Well, Miss Yami, I have good news," the doctor said. "You are pregnant, and judging from both when you said your last menstrual period was and when you said you did the deed, you are at five weeks."
Her skin turned as white as her hair. "I'm... pregnant!" At first, I couldn't tell if she was happy about it, but when she held her hand on her stomach and smiled, I saw the same look I had a long time ago.
I put my hand on her shoulder. "Well, how about that? You're gonna be a Mom! Congratulations!"
"Hehe."
"You can have your first ultrasound in one week. I would recommend scheduling one for one and a half weeks," the doctor said. "If you would like, I can schedule an appointment for you."
"That won't be necessary," my father said as he suddenly walked in. "I will the family doctor perform the necessary procedures."
"I was about to say the same thing," I said.
"Yes, sir, General," the doctor said.
"Thank you, Captain Kuhlman."
"Of course, sir."
The General glanced at us, "I have some phone calls to make now. Your base commander and I have to discuss your pregnancy."
"I don't envy that job," I said.

I was still elated. "Hey, sis."
"What's up?" Kye asked. After she and her group returned from their outing, she and Nagase came to visit me in my room. Mom left us alone for a big, probably to give us some girl time.
"What did you think at first when you found out you were pregnant with Rei and Joey?"
"I was happy, overjoyed. One can't really describe how it feels to know you will be a mother soon. You probably know that now. Imagine my shock when I found out I was having two."
"Yeah." I couldn't take my hand off my belly. The thought of carry a baby around inside me just... I was excited to no end. "Yuko."
"Hmm?"
"If it's a girl, I'll name her Yuko."
"What about if it's a boy?"
"Hiro."
"I like them both. Did you just pick those off the top of your head?"
"No, Yuko is a name I've had in mind since we were kids. You don't remember?"
"Come to think of it, yeah I do."
"And Hiro... well, I'd like to name the baby after Grandpa Hiroto if it's a boy."
"Ah ha! I think he'd like that."
"I think they are great names," Nagase said. "I can't wait to find out which one you'll get to use."
"Me, too. I just know it's gonna be Yuko, though. I have a gut feeling."
The door suddenly opened. Mom and Grandpa came in.
"Oh hey."
"You're staying with us," Mom said.
"Huh? But I have to go back home in two weeks," I said. "I have to go back and show the instructors at my base what I've learned over here."
"No. You aren't stepping foot in a fighter jet until after the baby is born."
"If I may..." Grandpa interrupted. "This is a rather rare case. Yami is still in training. She will have to go back to Emmeria for two months before she can take leave, after which she will receive leave for the rest of her pregnancy and up to three months after childbirth. I was able to discuss it in short with your base commander. The details will come later when he and I both have time to discuss it further. You will not, however, be permitted to fly while pregnant."
"But..."
"Have the baby first, then take a little time afterward to recover and get back in shape," Mom said. "After that, you'll be able to fly again."
"Well, I want you to come to Emmeria with me, then," I demanded.
"That will be fine," Grandpa said. He cut Mom off before she could even start. "I'll make the arrangements."
"Really? I can go with her?" Mom asked.
"Yes."
"Hey, I wanna go, too," Kye said. "At least until I have to go back to Sand Island... and hey after your two months are up, you should come visit Sand Island! What do you think, General?"
The old man chuckled at us. "Well, I think it sounds nice. I'll keep that in mind while ironing out the details."
"Just wait until Kye tests positive," Mom said.
Grandpa froze.
"You're gonna have even more fun!"
"You know... I'll think about that later. I'm going to get some coffee before you put more ideas in my heads."
