Chapter 27
Weeks Later
After days of silence between Brooke, Peyton, and Rachel. Lucas couldn't get the encounter out of his mind. As much as he wanted to ignore it and move forward. He knew them well enough to know they wouldn't of come forward with this information without proof. To put his mind at ease. He needed to investigate further.
Brooke busied herself to distract from the pain she was in with work. The boys. And preparing for the baby. I suggested we put the wedding on hold. Until things get resolved. But is insisting on moving forward with the wedding planning without Rachel and Peyton being included.
I made it a point to meet up with Jake and Mouth. We have years of friendship between the three of us. And i needed to check in to see how their wives were dealing with the aftermath of the blow up at the store.
The friends met at the nearby park.
"How are Rachel and Peyton handling everything.?" Lucas asked.
"Not well at all. We're all still processing and grieving the lost of Haley. Now Peyton feels as if she's lost her best friend/sister." Jake said.
"Rachel feels the exact same way. What we want more then anything is to put this friendship back together. But before that can happen you and Brooke deserve the truth." Mouth said.
"I admit we reacted strongly and based off of pure emotion. Because we want this so badly. Now that some time has passed. I'm prepared to dig deeper into this situation. Reaching out to an outside source.I'm hiring a private investigator." Lucas said.
Days Later
"I'm Levi Leroy. Highly requested PI what do you need me to do.?" He asked. Focusing his gaze on Lucas.
"I need you to investigate this girl named Samantha Walker. She's 16. Pregnant. We have plans to adopt her baby once it's born. I just need to know the reality of this situation. What is her true intention.? Has our encounter with her from the start been a lie.?" Lucas asked.
"I will look into this and get back to you as soon as i can." Levi said.
"Here is the address to her hotel suite." Lucas said. Handing over the business card to the hotel.
Levi left the home minutes later.
Lucas breathed out a frustrated sigh. Had they been too blinded by love and the possiblity of completing their family that they ignored warning signs.? He thought to himself. As he entered his home office.
"Daddy i'm bored." Jonah said. Standing the doorway of his father's home office in teddy bear themed PJ's.
Lucas smiled up at his son. The young boy had been staying home from day care the past few days. After catching a stomach bug that has been going around with alot of the other kids.
"That tells me you're feeling better. Which is great. How about you and I go build a fort or watch a movie.?" He asked.
Jonah smiled back at his father.
"Let's do both. Daddy when you and BB get married will that make her my momma.?" Jonah asked.
"Yes it will." Lucas said.

Tree Hill Top Suite
"Who the hell are you exactly.?" Ms. Walker asked.
"Levi. I'm a social worker. I was hired by the hotel. You would be surprised how many parents we have that come here to stay. I just wanted to check in with you're daughter and see how she's holding up. I would prefer to speak with her alone. If you wouldn't mind waiting in the hallway.?" Levi suggested.
"No problem. My girl can handle herself.I'll be right outside if you need me Sammie" Ms. Walker said. Getting up from where she was seated. Turning from them as she walked out the door.
Leaving Sam and Levi alone in the hotel suite.
"So Sam. Given my resources I have access to various different avenues i can take you down if you need the help. Therapy for yourself or for you and you're mom. Giving up a child is never easy." He said.
Levi watched as Sam's face and body changed becoming tense.
"I'll get through it." She said.
"I have resources to aid you in terms of classes. Support groups." Levi said.
"Look I'm not giving up my child.I never was.I lied." Sam admitted. Putting her hand on her baby bump.
...
"Brooke walked through the front door with her hands full of bags.
"I have the last finishing touches for the nursery. I bought the cutest mother/daughter outfits. The daddy's little girl onesie is adorable. You'll love it. I think we should have a welcome to the world Haley Karen Scott party. What do you think.?" Brooke asked with a smile on her face.
Lucas got up from where he was seated.
"This is Levi Leroy. He's the private investigator i hired. To look into the case. He found proof. Peyton and Rachel were right. Sam has been lying to us the entire time." Lucas said.
It was then that Levi replayed the recording he had.
Sam's voice filled the room. "Look I'm not giving up my child. I never was. I lied. It's about money. It's always been about money." She said.
Brooke felt her heart sink. The bags falling from her hands.
"I want to see her. I need answers. I need to know why." Brooke said. The emotion in her voice thick.
