Penelope looked up at Derek as he started scooting over in the bed, she said, "what are you doing, you need to lay still", he smiled at her and said, "I've missed you, come on gorgeous, lay with me", She said, "handsome that's not a good idea, I don't want to hurt you", he patted the bed and said, "you won't, come on, please lay with me".
She toed off her shoes and climbed onto the bed gently, she cuddled up beside him and sighed happily as he wrapped his arm around her and kissed the top of her head. Derek said, "there, that feels good doesn't it"?, she looked up at him and said, "it does but are you sure I'm not hurting you"?, he kissed her lips and said, "I'm sure baby girl, I'm sure".
He rested his head against hers and they both closed their eyes and it didn't take long they had both drifted off to sleep and about an hour later they woke up to the most amazing aroma. Penelope smiled and said, "is that"? and JJ nodded her head and said, "chicken alfredo and before you ask, yes we talked to Dereks doctor and he approved it, he said that we could get him anything that he would eat".
Derek said, "that smells amazing thank you" as he lifted the lid off of the food, Reid said, "you're very welcome, how are you feeling"?, Derek said, "sore and hurting but glad to be alive". Penelope said, "you've got JJ and boy wonder here to thank for you being alive", Derek looked at her and then at them and Penelope said, "Savannah was getting ready to kill you and they both shot her before she could get the job done".
Derek said, "I will forever be grateful to you all", JJ said, "you're very welcome, we're glad that you're doing so good", Derek took a bite of the alfredo and said, "me too, it could have been so so different". Dave looked at Derek and said, "that it could son, that it could" as they all pulled up chairs beside Dereks bed.
They sat laughing and talking for a few minutes before Penelope said, "wait, today's Friday, that means that your mom and sisters are visiting today", Derek said, "I need to call her and let her know that I'm in the hospital", JJ said, "we'll step out into the hall so you can make your call in private".
Penelope started to slid off of the bed and join her friends and Derek intertwined fingers with her and said, "please don't go, stay with me", Penelope bit down on her bottom lip and said, "okay I'll stay". She handed him his cell phone and continued eating as he pulled up his moms number.
He hit send and after a few rings he said, "hey momma, have you guys landed yet"?, Fran Morgan said, "we are heading out to catch a cab so that we can head over to your place baby boy". Derek said, "about that", Fran said, "something wrong honey"?, Derek took a deep breath and then started filling his mom in on what had happened to him over the past 24 hours.
When he ended the call he brought Penelopes hand up to his lips and kissed it, he said, "they'll be here in about half an hour, are you ready to meet your future mother and sister-in-laws"?, she grinned and said, "I am, I just hope they like me". She laid her head down on his shoulder and he kissed the top of her head and said, "don't worry they're going to love you because I do baby girl".
She smiled and leaned in and gently pressed her lips against his, they pulled apart to the sound of JJ and Emily said, "awwwwwww", she shook her head and said, "hey guys". JJ said, "heyyyyy, whatcha doin"?, Derek said, "we were talking", Dave said, "yeah I could see some tongue being used there".
Penelope blushed and said, "kill me now", Derek wrapped his arm around her and said, "nobody can kill you, you haven't met your future mother-in-law yet". JJ and Emily looked at each other and then at Derek and Penelope and said, "YOUR WHAT"?, Penelope said, "he proposed and I accepted", as the room filled with the sounds of the girls squeals and the mens congratulations.
