Epilogue A New Mission

It had been 80 years since Lilian's birth. Throin felt bad sending Fili away when I went into Labor and gave Fili a whole month off from duties unless needed to spend with me and Lilian. Lilian earned Fili's golden hair and my misty grey eyes. Fili and I had four boys after her. Vili after Fili's father, Ravin, Dindli, and Rargor. All were blessed were Valar abilities with long life, speaking every language, and turning from elf, dwarf, to human. The boys prefered dwarf, but Lilian seemed to favor all of the forms like I did. Zarrek and Sigrid were married and living in Dale with their 8 kids and all girls. Remi was single and seemed to stay with us in Erebor. The dwarves taught Lilian and her brothers how to fight and Lilian was like her dad with favoring two swords instead of one and bow and arrows like Kili and I. Thorin had taken her to Ravenhill to learn to speak to the Ravens. Her brothers knew also. She had all her uncles and her father wrapped around her fingers. Dwalin and THorin made sure all the kids were fighters and they were all fast learners and before Balin left with Ori and Oin for Moiria, he taught them the history of the dwarves.

Word was spreading that Sauron was back in Mordor and a darkness was falling. I was getting worried about what was coming. I sat in the Royal Chambers with the family. Lilian and Vili were playing a game on the floor near the fire. Fili and Thorin were talking as I sat in my chair with our youngest Rargor helping him with his studies.

"Daughter." Valar said. I stopped what I was doing.

"Mom?" Rargor asked.

"I'm fine. I need to talk to Grandfather. Word on your studies." I said. He nodded. I saw Lilian's eyes widen and Fili look towards me. Something wasn't right. I closed my eyes and opened them to find Lilian, Thorin, Fili, and I in Valar's halls.

"Mother. What does Grandfather want?" Lilian asked.

"Not sure." I said. Aule appeared in front of us. "Father." He smiled at us.

"Lord Aule. Its an honor." Thorin said.

"Same for you, King Thorin. I call you here. I would like for Lilian to join the dwarves that are going to Rivendel. The One Ring was found and there will be a group being formed to go destroy it. I would like for her to join." Aule said. There was silence.

"She is still to young." Thorin said.

"Uncle. I'm not young." Lilian said.

"Valar children and in her case, grandchildren age differently then dwarves and any race. She is an adult." Aule said.

"Father is right Thorin." I said.

"I don't know." Thorin said. Lilian came up to Thorin.

"Uncle. You and father along with Dwalin taught me everything I need to know in fighting. I can already take you and Dwalin out." Lilian said, earning a chuckle from Fili.

"I think she is ready. Even though I disagree with it. But it is the will of Valar." Fili said. Thorin sighed and I could tell he hated the idea.

"I won't deny the will of Valar. Hate to see her go." Thorin said. Lilian squealed and hugged Thorin. He returned the hug. "You'll be leaving with Gloin and Gimli tomorrow for Rivendel."

"Thank you." Lilian said. Aule smiled and gave us a nod and we returned back to Erebor. Lilian jumped to her feet and ran to her room to pack.

"What's going on?" Dis asked.

"Valar has asked for Lilian to join the dwarves heading for Rivendell. There is a quest coming she has to join." Thorin said.

"Just like I did when I joined the quest for Erebor." I said.

"Looks like she is following in your footsteps." Fili said, pulling me to his side.

"She is a daughter of Durin and Granddaughter of Valar. She has the love for fighting in her blood." I said. The dwarves nod.

The next day. Lilian hugged her brothers goodbye. I gave her a book.

"Write what happens and share it when you get back." I said.

"I will mom." Lilian said. I hugged her.

"Stay safe." I said. Fili talked with her and she gave him a hug and hugged the Company. Gloin and Gimli were saying goodbye to Dana. They walked towards the bridge. Fili put a hand on my shoulder.

"You think she will come home." Fili said.

"I'm sure she will. And when she does she will come home changed." I said. The dwarves nod as Lilian takes a look back at us and smiles as she turns and heads for her destiny.
