Liam's POV
I strummed the final chord of the song, stepping back from the microphone and dropping my head down as I tried to hold back tears. It was too difficult though as I started to feel the drops slowly making their way down my face, the memories becoming too much to bear. However, I felt a sense of comfort, almost as if they were here right next to me, even if they weren't. I was jumped back into reality by the sounds of clapping and cheering all throughout the hall. Once it had died down, Harry and Annabelle came up to me.
"What a stellar performance that was!" Annabelle exclaimed into the microphone, receiving a few more cheers from the crowd.
"What brought you to play this for us?" Harry asked, putting the microphone up to my face.
"Well it's a song that's very dear to me," I said, trying not to cry more, "It holds a lot of memories with me that I wish didn't have to be memories."
"Well that's very sweet," Annabelle said, "Do you think you're going to perform for us again?"
"Of course. It's been very enjoyable performing today, and I can't wait to do it again," I said, smiling.
"Well, thank you for your performance today, Liam," Harry said, "But unfortunately, we do believe it is time to wrap this up. We would like to thank you all for attending today, and if you could please be careful of other people as you exit," He said to the crowd.
"Thank you and we'll see you all next time!" Annabelle shouted, as the crowd started applauding and getting up from their seats.
Fade out of flashback and back to reality – One Month Later – No-one's POV
It was an incredible concert, lots of talent and lots of people enjoyed it, including Liam. He couldn't wipe the smile off his face for a whole week after that. Now, to explain the jump in time-frame. The next few weeks had to be the most uneventful weeks you could possibly imagine. So uneventful and mundane in-fact that I decided to use my DeLorean and I have brought us all one month forward, to the 4th of April on a Saturday afternoon to be exact. Liam had just been driving all day long to Banff and was now on his way home.
Liam's POV
The highway was rather quiet when I got off the ramp, however as it got closer to 4:30pm more cars started piling on. It wasn't terrible yet, but congestion was starting to form at some exit and entry ramps.
As to why I was on the highway, I had to take a drive down to Banff today to pick up a TV I bought of Kajiji. I was looking to get a TV in my room, so I had a look online and found a second-hand one suitable for my bedroom. It was a rather long drive down there but Diane, the person selling me the TV, was extremely kind. We made the transaction with no issues and we had a very pleasant conversation.
However I was on my way home now. It was still about an hour and a half of driving until I got back into Jasper. It was about a three hour drive on a good day with little traffic so like I said earlier, it was not a short drive by any means, but I had plenty of music to distract me so it wasn't a problem by any means.
I had a few CD's with some of my favourite songs from the bands I listen to, and right now I had my Slipknot CD in with The Devil in I currently playing. I had that CD in for most of the drive so I was starting to get bored of it, so I ejected the CD from the radio and grabbed it, slipping it into the case I keep my discs. I grabbed one out at random and put it in the radio, hearing Scream by Avenged Sevenfold start to play. 'Avenged Sevenfold it is,' I thought to myself, zipping the CD case up and putting it back where I usually put it.
About 15 minutes later, the traffic had plateaued and traffic was still flowing at a decent rate. As I was listening to Almost Easy, I saw the very recognisable blue and red lights flash behind me, a police officer. 'Surely can't be for me,' I thought to myself as I indicated and pulled off to the side of the road, assuming he would drive past. Boy was I wrong.
Time Skip - 10 Minutes
"I'll let you off with a verbal warning today, but just be sure to get your rear plate sorted out. I would also recommend getting a Canadian license sooner rather than later if you're going to be a permanent resident," The officer said, handing me my license and papers.
"I'll be sure to get on top of that as soon as possibe. Thanks officer," I said as we shared a handshake.
"No problem. You have a good day sir," He said, as he turned to leave.
"You too," I replied, putting my paperwork back into the glovebox. The police officer pulled out and drove off, waving as he left.
I turned my signal on, pulling back out into the traffic. Surprisingly, it had died down a bit so I could go the speed limit of 80kph and make it home at just a slightly quicker pace.
I was pretty excited for tomorrow, because tomorrow was April 5th, and April 5th is my birthday. I try to enjoy my birthdays as much as I can, let that be getting myself a gift, or inviting some friends over, or going out for dinner, or just sitting around the house and relaxing. Whatever I feel like doing, I'll do for my birthday, and I was excited because I had planned to go out for lunch tomorrow with my friends, Humphrey, Kate, Lilly, and Charlotte.
I continued at the same speed on the highway for the next 15 minutes or so until I got to an exit to a smaller town. As I passed the exit ramp, someone in front of me slammed on their brakes for a reason unknown to me. I pressed on the brakes as well and turned the wheel off to the side to avoid rear ending the person in front of me.
As I had only just pressed the brakes, I was shunted from the rear, being sent straight into the highway wall at over 70kph, making contact and the airbags going off. My hand slipped off the steering wheel and slammed into the dashboard, feeling my wrist break.
I bounced off the wall and back into the traffic, being t-boned another car and sent onto two wheels. I watched from the inside of the car as I was sent past the balance point, and rolled onto the roof of the car. It almost felt like it was in slow motion, until the roof hit the ground, at which I felt the roof cave in and roll again, this time landing on the wheels.
I looked down at my wrist, seeing swelling rapidly. My head started to ache as I sat there. I felt around with my good hand where it was aching, bringing my hand back around to see blood on it.
I looked down to where the pedals were, immediately feeling a surge of pain in my left leg. I couldn't see what was wrong, but could only assume it had also broken. I felt my eyes start to get heavy as I saw someone run over to my car.
"Are you okay sir?" She asked through the shattered window.
"N-no, I'm pretty f-far from o-okay..." I said as I felt myself start to drift in and out of consciousness.
"Does anything hurt?" She asked, managing to get the door open, supporting my neck with her hands.
"My l-leg and uh... I'm f-feeling s-sleepy..." I said, slowly falling into my sleep.
"I need you to stay awake hun, help is on the way," She said, continuing to hold my head up. I felt a fabric press down on my head, only assuming someone was putting pressure on the deep cut on my head. I dropped my bad wrist down, feeling it smack against my thigh, feeling more pain come from it.
"Ah f-fuck that h-hurt," I said, bringing it up to my chest and holding it there.
"What hurts hun?" She asked.
"L-left leg, wr-rist, and m-my head..." I said as I looked down at my leg, again, more pain pulsing throughout the affected area. My eyes felt very heavy and I was incredibly light headed. I was becoming more and more dizzy with every second passing by.
After what felt like hours, even though it was only a mere few minutes, I started to hear the sirens of emergency vehicles approaching. They sounds very quickly, got louder and louder as they got closer. A few seconds later, I saw an ambulance come around the corner on the highway, but by that point, the dizziness and light headedness was finally overcoming me, and I very rapidly started falling out of consciousness. The lady holding my neck noticed and started talking to me again.
"Come on, don't fall asleep yet hun. I need you to stay awake," She said, trying to keep me from falling asleep.
"I-I'm r-really sleep-py..." I said slowly.
"Uh... what's your name?" She asked, in an attempt to keep me awake.
"M-my name's Liam, y-you?" I replied slowly again.
"Charlotte," She said, smiling.
"H-huh that's f-funny. T-that's my girlfriend's name..." I said, smiling very weakly, as the ambulance came to a skidding stop, the paramedics jumping out and grabbing their gear. The lady holding my neck up signalled for them to come over to me, and they did. By which point I had grown too tired, and I finally drifted out of consciousness.
A/N: Wow two days in a row updates? Heya guys, gals, and people of other gender. I know that was kind of a jump in time-frame, but I needed it to advance the story. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter, and I would also like to thank everyone for 3,000 views on this story! I had no idea I'd get such a response after a years absence, so thank you all.
