Why did it have to be Apollo? He is the most vain, most self-absorbed of all the gods.
I used my free time to find Kiera. She seemed pretty cool.
When I found her, she was feeding one of the pegasi. Porkpie's his name, I think. I walked up to her. "Kiera, I just got claimed." I said. "OH MY GODS! THAT- wait. Why do you sound so disappointed?" She asked me. "Because, he's Apollo! The most vain, most self-centered god of all!" I complained. She shook her head. "No, he's not."
"What do you mean?"
"There is one god more vain than he is."
"Who?"
She paused, letting me think. There are no male gods...
"OHH, you mean your mom!" She nodded. "Yeeeaaahhh, and look how I am. I'm not nearly as vain as she is." We both laughed. "Look, the point I'm trying to make is," She says, "just because your parents are one thing or another doesn't mean you have to be that same thing or things that they are."
"I know! My brain is registering that, but," I sit down, "some of the things that he's the god of, are some of the things I'm the best at, things I like to bond with my mom over. Like archery! But since my newfound dad is the god of archery, does that mean the only reason I can shoot a bullseye, is because he's my dad?" I ask, finally breathing. She thought for a minute. "Maybe, you shouldn't look at it like that, but as if he gave you that natural talent for it, so that you can create that bond with your mom in the first place!" She told me. I nodded. "Thanks." I looked out the door to the stables, and to the canoe lake where Hermes' cabin was canoeing/falling out of their canoes. "You know, since you helped me with that, I'm gonna help you with something."
"Wha-" She started to say, but I was already out the door, and running to the canoe lake, where Kiera's future boyfriend awaits.
