Of course they prepared my food again. It wasn't fair, the others got to go through the cafeteria line and pick and choose what they wanted to eat, and I had to sit down with what the freaking nutritionist said I had to eat. It wasn't fair. Out of rebellion, I ate the chocolate cupcake first.

"Eat the shurra and spinach," said Verdo.

"Who made you my mother?" I asked.

"You clearly can't take care of yourself, and need adult supervision."

"He has adult supervision," said Chance.

"You hardly qualify. You are nine, and the only reason why you are not in the pediatric ward is because you will hit on the nurses and confuse the kids."

"Im ten," said Chance proudly.

"You still belong in the pediatric ward," said Verdo dryly, drinking some water. "Eat Skywalker."

I took a small bite of the Shurra pear, but Verdo raised her eyebrow warily, clearly that wasn't a big enough bite. Rolling my eyes I took a bigger bite, and she smiled, taking a sip of her water.

"We have to have a meeting before we let you in our pact," I said, clearly that was what she was getting at.

"Who are we letting into the pact?" asked Mishi, sitting down.

"I don't want into your stupid I promise to get healthy club," said Verdo. "That is not what this is about."

"Then what is it about?" I asked. "Why do you give a damn if I eat?"

"Because I am from Dathomir. I may not be a Jedi, but I know the Force. I know who you are Anakin Skywalker, and the Chosen One is not going to starve himself in front of me. Not when I can do something about it."

"Chosen One?" asked Mishi.

"What do you know about that?" I asked.

"That since the Light and Dark has split ten millennia ago there has been a prophecy of one who will walk both paths. His power will be unthinkable, and his pain unimaginable, and his legend unsurpassable. Both the Light and the Dark will vie for his… power, but the choice will be his. No one knows what he will do, but legend has it he will be the end of them. But no one knows if he is the end of the Jedi or the Sith."

"No wonder they didn't want to train me," I whispered. "Wait, I am supposed to walk the dark and the light? How do I do that?"

"Look, I know the prophecy because I grew up on Dorthamir, but I don't have a clue what it means."

"Yoda would," I said. Pulling out my Comlink, I contacted Master Yoda.

"Here I am," said Yoda.

"Is this the oldest Jedi living?" asked Mishi.

I nodded. "Master, at the unit, there is a Dorthamir woman and she knows the prophecy of the Chosen One."

"Vague and confusing that prophecy is," said Yoda. "Understand it, even I do not."

"Master, put aside the idea that I am supposed to be the Chosen One. Is it true the Chosen One is supposed to study the Jedi and the Sith?"

"Yes."

"How?"

"I know not. Be embraced by both the dark and the light, one would have to be."

"How can you do that without being consumed?"

"Find a balance you must, but how, again, I know not."

"I don't know what to do."

"Fear not you must. Told you I have, fear is the path to the dark side. Going to the Surabi system I am, in search of a teacher. Patience you must have."

"A teacher?"

"Live in the Surabi System, the Grey Jedi. Convince them to help you, I must."

"Master, what can you tell me about them?"

"The Order is called Jenessari. Founded by Jedi knight Nykos Triss, they were. Feared them as Sith, we did, but simply practice different orders, they do. Are our brothers in the force, we learned. Have the same forms of lightsaber, they do, but different reasons and techniques they will have. Different views of the force they have, not wrong, but different."

"Will I have to give up Padme? I can't do that."

"Take a wife, and had a son, Triss did. Hypocrites they are not."

"When can I meet them?" I asked, eager to learn.

Yoda laughed. "Go to the Surabi System today, I will. Already told them about you, I have. Eager they are to train the Chosen One." Again Yoda laughed. "Angry they are, we trained you as a Jedi. Stated you must be trained as Grey, they were adamant. Foolish I am the Chosen One, a Grey Jedi you must be."

"I am grateful for everything the Order has done for me. I was freed by the Jedi, met Obi-Wan who is like an older brother, met Ahsoka and Rex, who are also my family, I got to see the galaxy, save people, blow things up, met and married the women I love, all because of the Jedi, but master I must know something, please?"

"Hmm…"

"Why didn't the Jedi help my mother?"

Yoda was quite a moment, and I was worried that he hung up. But finally he said, "Powerful, we are Skywalker. But powerful too, the dark side is. Greed, anger, hate, filled the hearts of those who had your mother. Release her, they would not, to the Jedi Order or Senator Amidala."

"You mean, Padme and the Jedi Council tried to buy my mom and they wouldn't let you?"

"Filled Watto's heart, greed had."

"What about the Lars family when he sold her?"

"All was lost. Have the information, he did not." Yoda laughed. "Must have been quite intimidating, you were, to get it."

I wiped my tears away. I didn't realized Obi-Wan, Yoda, maybe even Windu had tried so hard to free my mom for about six years.

"I was so angry at the order, when she died," I said crying. "I thought they just left her there."

"Understand, I do. Failed you in many ways, we have."

"Tell me the truth, Master. Could I have saved her?"

"Died you would have. Die with you, the Jedi, Padme, and your children would."

"What do I do Master?"

"Learn the way of the Grey."
