Kyouka and Izuku were both walking in the halls, making their way to class for their first regular day at U.A.
Today would be the day that all of their regular classes would begin and have an idea of what classes should be like for the rest of the year. They both were aware that most of the classes consisted of core classes like English, history, math, etc so that part was a no brainer.
Kyouka wasn't very much excited for those core classes, but of course Izuku didn't care and still seemed excited for classes to begin.
Soon, they had arrived at class 1-A and saw that everyone was seated with Aizawa laying down in his sleeping bag. 'Is this how it's going to be every day?'
She and Izuku walked to the only two empty seats in the room and thankfully they were very close to each other.
However, there were three main problems when it came to the seats. One of them was right behind Bakugo, the other was right next to him, and both seats weren't directly next to each other. If Kyouka had one regret about middle school, it's that she sat behind Izuku for 3 years in a row. Now she wanted to be right next to him and she wasn't going to let that chance slip away now.
Izuku had already taken a seat behind Bakugo much the explosive boy's annoyance so that left Kyouka with no other choice.
She then walked in front of a boy with long black hair who was sitting next to Izuku before crossing her arms. "Hey. Give me your seat. You can sit in front of me."
"What? Just take that empty seat. What's the big deal?" The black haired boy asked as he gave her a weird look.
Suddenly, an earphone jack was sent to his eye before stopping only a couple of centimeters away, causing the boy to flinch. "I said… give me your seat. I don't want to ask you too many times. But hey, I hear eyepatches are the latest fashion trend anyways."
"M-Mr. Aizawa, can you tell her she's not allowed to do that?" The boy requested as he stared down the earphone jack, feeling a shiver down his spine as it got closer to his eye.
"I don't care. Just take a seat and be quiet. Class starts in a few minutes." Aizawa simply said before returning to his nap.
"You heard the man. Just take a seat and be quiet." The purple haired girl said with an innocent smile on her face.
"F-Fine, but please take that thing away from my eye." The black haired boy said as the earphone jack backed away before he stood up and took the empty seat in front of his original one. "Girls are so weird…"
"Much obliged." Kyouka said as she sat right next to Izuku before looking at him, seeing that he's completely focused on his notebook since the two of them saw Mt. Lady doing hero work on their way to school.
'I would rather have him writing notes on some other hero, but I guess I can't tell him what he can or can't write about.' She thought to herself with a sigh as she started taking out her class materials.
English class had begun only a few minutes ago and Kyouka was bored out of her mind as she listened to Present Mic teach. 'So dull… Even he can't make this class exciting.'
It seemed like the core classes would be just like middle school, but the teachers seemed way better even though she's only seen Mr. Aizawa and Present Mic so far. There has been zero favoritism shown and so far the only student that has been scolded is Bakugo.
"Hey everybody, look alive! Grammar rules!" Present Mic shouted to the class, seeing that most of the students didn't care much.
Only three students were paying close attention and took precise notes. Those students were Izuku, Iida, and that one black haired girl who sits two seats behind Izuku. The girl then raised her hand to answer Present Mic's previous question.
"Yaoyorozu! Lay it on us!" The Pro Hero shouted before the girl started to answer.
As always, Izuku was completely focused on his notes, writing down almost every word Present Mic was saying about the subject. 'I swear, seeing him do this will never not be adorable.'
One of the unfortunate things about this class was that Kyouka wouldn't be able to admire Izuku for the entire time since she doesn't sit in the back anymore and someone is bound to notice if she stares at him for the entire time in class. Fortunately, she was still able to stare at him for a good amount of time without looking too suspicious so it wasn't the worst thing ever.
Later on, it was lunchtime with Kyouka, Izuku, Iida, and Ochako sitting at a lunch table together. The Pro Hero, Lunch Rush soon came to their table with a thumbs up. "White rice is the perfect comfort food, isn't it?"
Ochako nodded with her mouth stuffed with rice as she smiled. Meanwhile, Izuku was fanboying over the Pro Hero, forgetting about his food. 'I wonder when he'll get fully used to being around Pro Heros. But I don't mind seeing him fanboy over them for a while longer, it's so cute when he goes all fanboy mode.'
Lunch Rush then left their table to greet other students as Ochako ate some more food with her mouth being stuffed once again. "This food is so delicious and it's so cheap too!"
For some reason, her voice seemed to get even more excited when she mentioned how cheap the food is.
"No talking with your mouth full, Uraraka." Iida scolded before taking a small bite out of his food. "But I do agree. These are top quality meals and it's great that they don't cost much. I think it's excellent that U.A keeps their students well fed while helping them maintain any budget they may have."
"Yeah, U.A really is amazing. I'm so excited to see what else this school brings us." Izuku said with a smile before finally starting to eat his food.
Kyouka kept her chopsticks in her food, playing around with it a little as she listened to the conversation. This all felt so weird to her. For 3 years, she and Izuku sat alone and always ate lunch together. Everything about that was perfect and now she doesn't know whether to be sad that she'll no longer be with Izuku or happy that he's less lonely now. She told herself yesterday that she wasn't going to be selfish and keep him for herself, but it didn't make this any easier. She wished she could go back to that rooftop in middle school and be alone with him like how it used to be. But she knew she had no choice but to accept that this is how her high school life will be from now on. 'I hope I can get used to this…'
"Jirou, aren't you going to eat your food?" Iida asked with his hand pointed at her.
"It's going to get cold, Kyouka. And aren't you always the one who tells me to eat so my food doesn't get cold?" Izuku asked with a laugh as he looked at his best friend.
"Hm? O-Oh yeah sorry, it's just that it smells really good and I'm just wondering if it's as good as it smells." The purple haired girl said as she twirled around her earphone jack. "Plus, you stare at your food all the time when you get nervous about stuff. Your food always ends up getting cold when you do that."
"Y-Yeah you have a point there." The green haired boy said in an embarrassed tone as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"Don't worry, Jirou. It'll be some of the most delicious food you'll ever taste." Ochako said with a wide smile on her face.
"Thank you… Uraraka." Kyouka said, doing her best to not show any venom in her voice as she said the girl's name.
'It's going to take a long time before I get used to her. But at least she's not trying anything too funny… yet.' She thought to herself as she internally sighed.
The purple haired girl looked back at her food before taking a bite and smiled. "Yeah, it's very good. I guess it's only natural that a Pro Hero who's known as the Cook Hero can make such delicious food."
"I know right. It's like a dream come true having a Pro Hero being the cafeteria cook." Izuku said with some sparkles in his eyes. "I get equally as excited whenever I see a Pro Hero as one of our teachers. I never would've expected Ectoplasm to be our math teacher."
"I bet you're most excited for the hero basic training class, huh?" Kyouka asked the boy with a small smirk.
The green haired boy widened his eyes for a second before giving a small nod. "Is it that obvious? Well, you know how to read me like a book so I shouldn't be surprised. I know it'll be one of the most difficult classes but I just can't wait for it."
"We'll all do our best in the training and I'm sure we'll all succeed." Iida said as he smiled at his friends.
"I can't wait! It'll be so fun!" Ochako cheered as she pumped her fist into the air.
'Hero basic training, huh? I wonder how that'll go.'
"I AM HERE!" All Might shouted as he suddenly came through the door in a weird position. "COMING THROUGH THE DOOR LIKE A HERO!"
'Is he really trying to show off? He looks ridiculous.' Kyouka thought to himself as she gave the hero a weird look before seeing that everyone in the class is looking amazed by the Pro Hero. 'I guess I see him differently since I've known him for a year. Even Izuku looks amazed by All Might showing up and he's closer to the guy than I am.'
"Whoa, I can't believe it's really All Might!" The blonde boy with the lightning bolt hairstreak shouted in excitement.
The boy with red spiky hair started to get psyched by the hero. "So he is a teacher! This year is gonna be totally awesome!"
"Hey, look. Is he wearing his Silver Age costume?" The green haired girl asked with her finger on her chin.
"I'm getting goosebumps. It's so retro." The blonde boy with a tail said with amazement.
"Welcome to the most important class at U.A High! Think of it as heroing 101! Here, you will learn the basics of being a pro! And what it means to fight in the name of good!" The number one hero announced as he started flexing his muscles. "Let's get into it! Today's lesson will pull no punches!"
He then pulled out a card that read 'BATTLE' on it which started to excite many students, especially Bakugo. "Fight training!"
"Real combat?" Izuku asked, surprised that they're doing this for the first lesson.
"This seems a little sudden." Kyouka said to herself, not expecting this at all.
"But one of the keys of being a hero is looking good!" All Might shouted he pointed at the wall which started to reveal cases with numbers on them. "These were designed for you based on your Quirk Registration forms and the requests you sent in before school started!"
Most of the students in the room began cheering as Kyouka smiled, thinking of her costume. 'I'll finally have the costume that represents me. I just have to believe that he'll like it. But I know I'll love his costume.'
"Get yourselves suited up and then meet me at Training Ground Beta!" The muscular man said with a wide smile on his face.
"Yes, sir!"
Kyouka walked through the dark tunnel, seeing the light at the end as she listened to the footsteps all around her.
"They say that clothes make the pros, young ladies and gentlemen, and behold, you are the proof!" All Might said with his hands on his hips as the students started to emerge from the tunnel. "Take this to heart! From now on you are all heroes in training!"
Kyouka felt the sun hit her face as she exited the tunnel and couldn't help but smile. She was already feeling like a hero, wearing a state of the art costume and being surrounded by other students with costumes.
"This is getting me all revved up! You look so cool!" The muscular man shouted as he looked at his student's costumes. "Now! Shall we get started, you buncha newbies?!"
The teen girl looked down at her costume and smiled as she took a closer look at it. She had a black leather jacket, a pink shirt with tears near the collar and hem, black pants, and fingerless white gloves. She definitely achieved the punk rock look she was going for and she felt like this costume represented her perfectly. This made her glad that she changed her mind to not make her costume sexy just to appeal to Izuku and instead decided to go with the advice he unintentionally gave her.
But the two most important features of her costume were her stereo boots and her dark green choker.
Kyouka gently touched her choker and smiled as she closed her eyes. 'It really does feel like he's right here with me.'
She then heard footsteps running towards the group and she turned around to see Izuku in his light green hero costume. It looked exactly like it did in his notebook with the bunny ears and the smiling mask.
'His mom did a really good job making that costume. He looks perfect in it and he looks like a hero.' She thought to herself as she admired him. 'But he still looks like a hero even out of costume.'
"Hey, Dekiru!" Ochako suddenly said as she walked up to him.
Kyouka felt her eye twitch as she heard the girl and clenched her fist as she resisted any urge she had to smack her. 'I wanted to be the first one to talk to him in his hero costume.'
"Uraraka." Izuku said as he looked at the girl in front of him and widened his eyes, feeling his face start to heat up as he looked at her costume.
"Love your costume. Not too flashy, you know." The brunette said as before rubbing the back of her head. "I should've been more specific about what I wanted. This bodysuit is skintight. Not really my style."
'Crap! I've never seen a girl my age wear something like that before! This is so new.! The green haired boy thought to himself as he looked away, happy that no one could see his red face under his mask.
'Fuck, that suit really is skintight on her body. It's showing off everything.' Kyouka thought to herself before looking at all of the girl's costumes. 'God dammit! Every girl here has an attractive costume! That frog-like girl also has a skintight costume! That girl with the pink skin has a skintight costume as well and is even showing some cleavage! That tall girl is revealing so much around her chest and is basically wearing nothing under the belt! The invisible girl is only wearing shoes and gloves so she's pretty much naked!'
The purple haired girl's face went blue as she looked down and placed her hands on her chest before whispering to herself. "Nothing… Why didn't I go with the sexy option instead…?"
"Wow, your costume is amazing, Kyouka." Izuku suddenly said as he stood in front of her.
Kyouka jumped as she saw him, being too deep in her thoughts to notice him walk towards her. "R-Really? You actually like my costume?"
"Of course, I can't imagine you wearing anything else for a hero costume. It's perfect for you." The green haired boy said as he gave his friend a smile.
"Thanks. Your costume is perfect too. You really give that All Might vibe." She said to him as she smiled back, feeling more comfortable about herself and her costume choice.
"I-I do?" Izuku asked as he rubbed the back of his neck. "I-I didn't want to copy him too much, but I also wanted to show off how much I admire him. I hope it's not that obvious."
Meanwhile, All Might held his hand over his mouth, holding in a laugh at the fact his successor's costume was so obvious in looking like him. 'It is, young Midoriya. It's way too obvious. Tell him the truth, young Jirou.'
"No, I don't think it's obvious at all. And nothing wrong with looking like the hero who inspires you." The purple haired girl reassured the boy as she flicked one of his bunny ears.
The boy laughed at her flicking his bunny ear before looking down to see her boots which made his eyes sparkle a little. "Whoa, are those boots with built-in stereos?!" He immediately crouched down to get a closer look at the boots. "You even have inputs where you can plug in your earphone jacks. With that, you can release a sound wave similar to Present Mic when you channel your heartbeat into them. I wonder just how strong these boots make your heartbeat. What's the range of the sound wave that's released? How durable are these boots? Are they waterproof? Can they handle-"
The boy continued to mutter on as Kyouka's face went a little red with her hero crouching down like that in front of her as she resisted squirming her legs. 'He's only looking at my boots to analyze them. He's not thinking of anything weird and neither should I…'
"Jirou, your costume looks awesome." Ochako said as she walked up to the two friends. "And your choker looks like Dekiru's hair. It's almost identical."
Kyouka's face became a darker red at that as she placed her hand over her choker. "W-What are you talking about? I chose dark green because I thought it could work with the aesthetic of my costume. That's the only reason I swear."
The brunette laughed and then looked at Izuku before widening her eyes to see him muttering like crazy. "Um… Dekiru? Are you okay?"
Izuku was broken out of his muttering spree before looking up at Ochako and then looking at Kyouka as he noticed the position he was in, causing his face to go red as he stood up. "S-Sorry about that! When it comes to quirks or anything hero related, I tend to go on a muttering spree."
Ochako smiled at the boy as she shook her head. "Oh, that's alright. It's a little strange, but there's nothing wrong about muttering about your passions."
"It's not strange." Kyouka suddenly said as she crossed her arms, glaring at the girl. "You take that back."
"Oh no, I didn't mean that as an insult." The brunette said as she clasped her hands together. "I mean it's strange in a cute kind of way."
This caused Izuku to go red again with this girl affiliating him with the word 'cute' two times now. "U-Um thanks, but I wouldn't use that word at all…"
Ochako looked back at the boy and giggled. "You're pretty silly, Dekiru, you know that?"
Meanwhile, the purple haired girl felt a fire within her burning as her fist started to shake. 'I swear to god, it's as if she knows how to piss me off.'
All Might couldn't help but feel awkward as he watched this interaction between the three teens. 'Oh brother, I hope this isn't something that'll keep on happening with these three. This seems like too much trouble.'
The hero then cleared his throat before looking at all the students. "Everyone group up now! I have some explaining to do!"
All of the students started to group up and almost all of them were looking at the man except for one student. Kyouka kept her glare on Ochako, not taking her eyes off of the girl without her noticing.
"Sir!" Iida suddenly said as he raised his hand. "This is the fake city from our entrance exam. Does that mean we'll be conducting urban battles again?"
"Not quite. I'm going to move you two steps ahead! Most of the villain fights you see on the news take place outside. However, statistically speaking, run-ins with the most dastardly evildoers take place indoors. Think about it. Backroom deals, home invasions, secrets underground lairs. Truly intelligent criminals stay hidden in the shadows. For this training exercise, you'll be split into teams of good guys and bad guys and fight two on two indoor battles." All Might explained as he looked at the students.
"Isn't this a little advanced?" The green haired girl asked as she tilted her head.
The muscular man raised his fist as he smiled. "The best training is what you get on the battlefield! But remember, you can't just punch a robot this time! You're dealing with actual people now!"
This caught Kyouka's attention as she took her eyes off of Ochako before looking at All Might. "Are you sure this will go well?"
"Sir, will you be the one deciding who wins?" The black haired girl asked.
"How much can we hurt the other team?" Bakugo obviously asked.
"Do we need to worry about the losers getting expelled like earlier?" Ochako worriedly asked.
"Will you be splitting us up based on chance or comparative skill?" Iida asked with his hand raised.
"Is this cape trà chic?" The sparking blonde boy asked as he showed off his cape.
The number one hero growled as he clenched his fists, clearly annoyed. "I wasn't finished talking!"
The hero then pulled out a script which made Kyouka give the man a blank stare. 'Why am I not surprised?'
"Listen up! The situation is like this. The villains have hidden a nuclear missile somewhere in their hideout. The heroes must try to foil their plans. To do that, the good guys have to either catch the evildoers or recover the weapon. Likewise, the bad guys succeed if they protect their payload weapon or capture the heroes." All Might explained before pulling out a box. "Time's limited, and we'll choose teams by drawing lots."
"Isn't there a better way?" Iida asked as he looked at the box.
Izuku then turned to the armored boy and smiled. "Think about it! Pros often have to team up with heroes from other agencies in the spot, so maybe that's the reason we're seeing that here"
"Yes, I see. Life is a random series of events." The blue haired boy seemed to understand before bowing to All Might. "Excuse my rudeness."
The number one hero then turned around before raising his fist in the air. "No sweat! Let's draw!"
The students then drew lots and Kyouka's mood went from sour to happy as she saw that she was on Team A with Izuku. "Wow, I can't believe we managed to be on the same team. And we have a bit of an advantage too since we know each other."
Izuku smiled widely at his friend as he nodded. "Yeah, it's the perfect setup. But we should still do our best just in case the other team has amazing quirks."
The purple haired girl smiled as she gave Izuku a fist bump. "Nah, the other team is going down."
Kyouka was internally cheering even more at the fact that Izuku wasn't teamed up with Ochako. 'Thank god we've managed to avoid that outcome.'
"I declare that the first teams to fight will be…" All Might said as reached in the two boxes before pulling out two balls. "These guys!"
Izuku and Kyouka widened their eyes as they saw their team pulled along with Bakugo's and Iida's team. 'We're fighting Kaachan/Bakugo?!'
"Team A will be the heroes, Team D will be the villains! Everyone else can head to the monitoring room to watch!" The number one hero announced before the rest of the students started to leave except for the two teams.
Izuku then looked at Bakugo who was glaring at him before Izuku glared back as if he was saying. 'I'm not backing down.'
Bakugo seemed to understand that as he growled and clenched his fists. 'He's dead.'
Kyouka looked back and forth between the two boys before smiling at her hero.
'After all these years, these two will finally fight. But I know Izuku will come out on top. He can't lose to Bakugo.'
A/N
Okay that's chapter 24 done! Yes I know it is a very short chapter, but I wanted this to be the buildup chapter to the next one. I was going to add more slice of life school filler in this chapter, but I decided to save more of that for future chapters. I did add some slice of life elements though like the cafeteria scene. There will be more cafeteria scenes in the future, but it'll be a while before an important one comes.
I do apologize for having to wait this long for this short chapter though. I spent a lot of time deciding whether I wanted to include the Izuku and Bakugo fight scene in this chapter and I spent 2 whole days not working on it at all. I've recently gotten a few new games that I just love playing and I lose track of time so much. I recently bought Persona 4 Golden on pc, but I haven't played it yet. But I hear that game is a time killer so I apologize in advance if the next chapter takes a little while. I'll tell you guys my thoughts on the game next time.
I hope none of you guys mind that I teamed up Izuku and Kyouka for the battle trial. I actually was going to keep it like canon and have Izuku and Ochako with Kyouka watching, but I realized I could have a special moment if I had Kyouka there instead. You'll guys see what I mean next chapter and I look forward to writing that special scene.
I think I've decided that I'll have Momo team up with Kyouka and Izuku for the USJ arc. I was super close to having it be Mineta for comedy sakes and I had this fun idea of Kyouka throwing Mineta towards the villains since he's too scared. I had some other ideas for Mineta and Izuku working together surprisingly well, but I might show them off in a filler chapter where there's a training exercise or something. But yeah there's a 95% chance it'll be Momo, but now I need to decide whether I want it to be at the Mountain Zone or the Shipwreck Zone.
Now onto the reviews!
25NaMi: I hope so as well, but what matters most is that the staff at Studio Bones and Horikoshi are all safe and healthy. It seems like we won't get any Manga delays though since Horikoshi has been doing really well with releasing new chapters so far.
Naoto Koizumi: Yeah, I feel like she would beat Izuku when it comes to athleticism. Ooh that sounds like a fun idea actually. It could be a fun and awkward moment of Kyouka trying to give Izuku a nickname. I hope you don't mind that I have them both in the same team, but I have faith that my decision will be worth it. Oh god 100k words, I didn't even think about that when I posted the chapter. Well here's to 100k more. I swear this story is going to end up being 500k+ words.
Ability King KK: Kyouka will make many rivals along the way, but the gravity girl will be the biggest one.
Guest: I could use that if I have Kyouka trying out nicknames for Izuku.
Kai Dragoon: Oh Mei is going to be fun to write and Toga is going to be one hell of a rollercoaster.
DesertBrat: I'm sorry, but I couldn't do my boy like that. He'll be fun in the future for some comedic moments and maybe some character development far in the future oooohhh. (That's not a promise by the way, but it's possible. There's currently no plans.)
Chuck Winanaki: Yeah, I agree that I could've written Aizawa a lot better, but I would say that I didn't do the worst job. Oh I agree, personally I don't like writing Dekiru because it's a mouthful and I keep wanting to write Deku instead. But I feel Dekiru works for the story if that makes sense.
Xerzo LotCN: I was going to put him in the top 10, but I feel like the students below him did better overall since he only had 2 amazing scores and did average on the rest. Aww poor Mineta, but most of the wrath he'll suffer is from Kyouka, but I won't be too cruel. I don't think I'll have Kyouka reveal to the girls that she loves Izuku before she tells Izuku. I guarantee that he'll be the first to actually know. I mean Toru has always been a strange one to me. A small part of me wants to believe she's the traitor though even though I don't actually believe it.
Thanatos413: Juvia. Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. I remember the last time I watched Fairy Tail was when I was 13. Ah memories on the funimation channel.
coreplater: The drama will start out small, but it will get larger over time and it'll be fun to write.
Well that's it for reviews!
That'll be all for this chapter! Please feel free to leave a review!
