Chapter 26

The wedding reception was almost finished and most of the guests have already left. Beverly went to Leonard and Penny to say her goodbye.

"Leonard, Penny, I want to thank you for inviting me to your wedding." Beverly added. "and I must apologize for my earlier outburst."

"Don't worry about it mom….thank you for coming." Leonard said.

"Thank you Beverly….we're really glad you were here for the wedding!" Penny said as she hugged Beverly. Beverly hesitated but hugged her back.

Beverly reached into her purse and gave Penny an envelope. "Penny I didn't know what to give you as a wedding present so I went and reserved a honeymoon package at the hotel for you and Leonard." she said as she gave Penny the envelope.

Leonard and Penny looked into the envelope and was surprised. "Wow….this is so nice….thank you so much Beverly!" she turned to her husband. "look honey…..we have a three day honeymoon package at the hotel!…" she said as she showed the brochures to Leonard.

"Thank you mom….this means a lot." Leonard said to his mother.

"You're quite welcome dear….now if you'll excuse me….I'm a little tired so I think I'll go back to my hotel." Beverly said then turned around to leave.

After Beverly left, Bernadette and Amy went to the couple. Bernadette handed them a sealed manila envelope.

"Guys….what is this?" Penny asked as she held the envelope.

"Well...this gift is from all of us….Amy and I managed to convince the guys to share in this….come open it!" Bernadette told her as Howard, Raj and Sheldon joined them.

Leonard looked at the contents of the envelope. "What is this?" he asked.

"We saw how happy the two of you were when Leonard came back from his trip and you spent a week at the beach so we decided to repeat that….but this time in the Bahamas!" Amy said.

Penny screamed and hugged Bernadette and Amy. "You guys are the best!" Penny was in tears.

Leonard shook Howard, Raj and Sheldon's hands. "Thanks guys….this is so generous!" he said as he hugged his friends.

"You're welcome Leonard….we're quite glad that Bernie came up with the idea because we were having a hard time thinking of a wedding present for both of you." Howard said.

"Thank you so much you guys!….I'm so excited honey!" Penny said as she turned and hugged Leonard. Penny felt her stomach tighten again. "Honey….I have to go to the restroom again…" she said as she ran towards the restroom. Amy and Bernadette quickly followed her as well as Leonard.

Leonard knocked on the door. "Honey are you alright in there?" he asked his wife.

"What do you think she ate or drank?….if it's food poisoning then how come none of us are getting sick?" Amy told them.

"You're right...I also noticed that Penny's a little flushed since this morning...maybe she's just tired." Bernadette said.

The restroom door opened and Penny came out.

"Are you alright honey?…..I'm starting to get worried." Leonard held her by the arm.

"I'll be okay Leonard...you don't have to worry….I'm just tired I guess…" Penny said as they made their way back to the table.

Bernadette pulled Amy aside to speak to her. "Amy….do you know why Penny's having these symptoms?" she asked her.

"I don't know….it could be a bacterial infection which is no problem….if it's viral….then she could be infectious…" Amy said absently.

"Amy that's not what I'm getting at….think about it….she's throwing up, she gets easily tired, she looks flushed...come on Amy...think!" Bernadette urged her.

Amy thought for a while then looked at Bernadette. "Noooo….you don't think that Penny is?….." Amy looked at Bernadette with a surprised look.

Bernadette smiled at her and nodded. "It's possible….I mean they have been on a sort of honeymoon these past couple of months….going to Nebraska and New York…..oh my god I'm so excited!" Bernadette hugged Amy.

"Should we tell her?" Amy asked.

"No….knowing Penny….she might kill Leonard…." Bernadette smiled. "and it's only a wild guess." she added.

"Okay fine….do you think it's going to be a boy or a girl?" Amy giggled.

"Wanna bet?….I call boy." Bernadette smiled.

"Okay….a thousand dollars good to you?" Amy asked.

"Deal!" Bernadette as she shook Amy's hand.

The reception was almost done and most of the guests have said their congratulations and goodbyes to the newly married couple. Penny leaned her head on Leonard's shoulder as he rubbed her back to make her feel better.

"Thank god it's almost done….it's not so bad right honey?" Penny asked.

"Yeah….we had a little drama...Ironman showed up….it went relatively smooth…" he said as he kissed Penny on the head. "I love you honey."

Penny looked up to him. "I love you too honey!" Penny kissed him. "I'm so excited….we have a three-day hotel package and then we're gonna go to the Bahamas...we can swim in the ocean...we can….you know…" she winked at him.

"Anything you want honey…." Leonard kissed her again. "Are you feeling better now?" he asked her.

"Yeah….I just need you by my side…..but tonight, you're all mine!" Penny said to him.

"Wait….are we going to the hotel now?" he asked her.

"Why you got a problem with that?" she asked him.

"Noooo…." Leonard smiled at her. "Okay let's do it!"

Leonard took Penny's hand and told the gang that they are going to the hotel his mother reserved for them. The gang gave the couple tight hugs and wished them a happy honeymoon.

They went to the car and drove all the way to the hotel. They were welcomed by the hotel staff with a chorus of congratulations. They went straight to their suite but before they could enter, Leonard made sure to carry Penny across the doorway as a traditional wedding rite. He was almost out of breath when he put Penny on the bed.

"Nice work Dr. Hofstadter!" Penny laughed as Leonard sat by the bed trying to catch his breath. Penny pulled Leonard by the collar and kissed him hard and deep. Leonard was a little surprised then relaxed as they continued to kiss.

They broke off as Penny looked at her husband. "I love you honey….I'm so happy we're finally married." Penny said.

"Me too honey…" Leonard said as he hugged his wife. "Now how about we make this wedding official?" he asked.

"Yes please!" Penny said as she grabbed him by the neck and kissed him hard. They continued kissing as they started to shed their clothes. Leonard stood up and quickly turned off the lights and went back to kissing Penny. They giggled and laughed as they held each other and made love through the night.
