Lincoln gets out his blade faster than I can blink and points it at Finn.
"Lincoln stop, he's my friend!" I say.
"What are you doing here man?" I ask curiously.
"I could ask you the same thing," he replies with equal curiosity.
He and Lincoln stare at each other with tension, but eventually lower their knives.
"I think you lost this," Finn says smugly holding out the knife Lincoln stabbed him with a while back.
"I wonder, how long have y'all known that he speaks English?" Finn asks me.
"I thought everyone knew," I say because I remember telling Bellamy.
I forgot that I've spent weeks ignoring Finn and I realized that I missed my best friend. We all screw up in life and he deserves a second chance.
Finn finds the foghorn and looks at Lincoln.
"You blew this when your people were hunting us. You saved our lives," Finn says.
I remember that day when we all were surrounded by grounders ready to die when that foghorn saved our lives.
"So that was you. Thank you Lincoln," I say coming to a realization.
I already knew, but Lincoln never told us and I never thanked him for saving us that time.
"I have to believe there's more like you," Finn says to Lincoln.
"I stabbed you," Lincoln says remorsefully.
"And we almost tortured you," Finn answers instantly.
"If the two of us get along, then maybe there's hope. Learn from history instead of repeating it right?" Finn says in a positive tone.
"It's worth a shot, but Lincoln you said you didn't have the power to call a truce. So how's that gonna happen?" I ask.
"For starters, no more killing and Lincoln, bring me to someone who does have the power," Finn replies.
"Hey look the rest of our people are coming down here. The first ship lands in two days," Finn follows up.
"I tuned out Jaha's speech today what else did he say?" I ask looking down.
"Because of the attacks, they're sending mostly soldiers. The people that enforce our laws. The ark is about survival at any costs and they'll kill people who fall out of line. If those people feel threatened, they will start a war and I don't want that," Finn says hoping Lincoln can come up with something.
"None of us do. Lincoln, your our best shot at stopping this war. It will come if we don't find a way to call a truce," I say
"I know you don't either. I think that's why you blew that horn," Finn says to Lincoln.
"Once the soldiers get here, itl be to late and we'll have no power to stop them, but if they see that we're at peace, then maybe we can stay that way," Finn says hopefully.
"Alright. You bring your leader I'll bring mine."
"What Bellamy? He'll never go for this," I say incredulously.
"No not her brother," Lincoln says looking at a slowly stirring Octavia.
"Clarke," Finn realizes.
"Clarke will use her head," I say and go over to Octavia.
"Hey O, it's time to go home," I whisper and she moans in a half awake state.
"What happened?" she asks groggily.
Before I can answer, her eyes widen and she runs outside. She keels over and vomits multiple times in the grass. I hold her hair back. Finn and I wince at her.
"Jesus Bellamy's gonna kick my ass," I say scratching my head.
Lincoln pats my shoulder reassuringly and Finn just chuckles.
"I feel a bit better," Octavia says sounding grossed out.
"Can you walk?" I ask.
"Yeah, think so," she says wiping her face with her sleeve. I sheath my sword in the sleeve Lincoln gave me and attach it to my belt.
"Jesus Rob, cool sword," Finn says in awe.
"Thank him," I say smiling and nodding my head toward Lincoln.
"You earned it," Lincoln says with pride.
"You do look bigger," Finn says shrugging.
"He taught me everything I know," I say proudly.
"See you on the other side," I say to Lincoln.
We shake forearms and go our separate ways.
"God I'm gonna be hung over until the day I die," Octavia moans as she, Finn, and walk back to camp.
"I'll get you some water then you should sleep it off," I suggest.
"Finn what are you even doing here?" Octavia asks accusingly.
"He found a way to get peace with the grounders," I say smiling at him.
"So your not mad at me anymore?" Finn asks smirking slightly.
"Nah, just miss my brother," I say and hold out my hand.
We do our handshake and make our way back to camp.
"Good grip," he says.
"Wish I could say the same," I say and squeeze his hand hard.
He chuckles and wrenches his hand free.
"Octavia, your staying at camp. You need to rest," I say.
"No, I'm going with you to the bridge," Octavia protests.
"No O, you need to get rest," I insist.
"Wait Rob, maybe if both you and her show that y'all are friends with Lincoln, then we'll have a better shot," Finn suggest.
"That could work," I say thinking out loud.
When we get back to camp, the party is still on full swing and Finn leaves to fetch Clarke. I grab Octavia a water canteen and she spits out the first mouthful to wash her mouth out.
"The first ones always the worst," I say smirking.
She nods and drinks the full canteen enthusiastically.
"The taste will be there forever," she says in a raspy voice.
"Just a couple hours," I shrug.
I see Finn and Clarke and he motions me over.
"I'll be right back," I say and Octavia nods.
As I get closer, I hear their conversation.
"I trust him," Finn says.
"I don't," Clarke follows up.
"I do. He's the one I told you about. The one who has been training me, Clarke," I say.
"Yeah and I spent nearly every morning patching you up," she says back angrily.
"He's our friend, Clarke," I say not sure how it'll help the argument.
"If we go, we have to bring backup," Clarke says.
"No way. We're not bringing guns. Those weren't the terms and if we're gonna do this, we gotta give it a fair shot," Finn argues.
Clarke bites her lip in thought. After thinking for a while she sighs.
"Okay. Okay I'll get my pack and meet y'all by the gate," Clarke says.
"Alright," Finn responds.
He looks at me for approval and I nod. We walk over to fetch Octavia who is sitting on a log and we make our way to wait by the gate. Eventually, Clarke walks up to us and we head out to the bridge that Lincoln told us about.
Clarke looks at Octavia and I accusingly.
"So that's how you set this up. You two helped him escape didn't you," Clarke accuses pointing at me and Octavia. Octavia shoots her a dirty look.
"Yup, we did. You can either whine about it or we can do this and hopefully stop the killing," I answer folding my arms.
"I trust him Clarke," Octavia says with sincerity.
"There's a lot of that going around," Clarke says bitterly looking from me to Finn. We don't respond.
She shakes her head and we keep walking.
"I'd love it if you were right about this, but did you ever consider that it might be a trap?" Clarke asks.
"Yup, but since it's Unity Day, I decided to have hope instead," Finn says sarcastically.
"Good motto Finny," I say smirking.
Finn suddenly hisses in pain.
"Here let me take a look at that," Clarke says.
She lifts up his shirt and looks at his stitched up stab wound.
"You sure have a lot of faith in the guy that stuck a knife in you. And the guy that pummeled you day after day," Clarke says to Finn and I.
"Guess I am crazy. You'll just have to trust me princess," I tease.
We make it to the bridge and wait, but no one is there. After an eternity of pacing and awkwardly standing there, we finally see someone running. It's Lincoln.
"Lincoln!" Octavia and I both exclaim happily.
He gets to us and we do the forearm shake a clap him on the shoulder. Octavia hugs him. I see Clarke looking warily at Lincoln and Finn grabs her hand. I give Finn the evil eye and he lets go. Suddenly, I hear a strange animal noise and what sounds like hooves hitting the ground. Guess the movie Blazin Saddles got it down. I remember watching the movie with my dad. One of the few nights we got along. A week before I got locked up.
"Oh my God, horses," Clarke says in awe.
"Wow," I whisper in an equal amount of awe.
I see two guards on black horses and a woman who I assume is their leader on a brown and white horse. The guards have bows. I thought there were no weapons.
"Hey we said no weapons!" Finn spits at Lincoln.
"I was told there wouldn't be," Lincoln says with a bitter tone.
"Guess it's too late now," Clarke says a bit to calmly.
I hope she didn't plan something behind our backs.
Clarke looks toward the grounders and starts to walk with Finn. Lincoln stops Finn.
"She goes alone," Lincoln demands.
Finn and Clarke exchange worried glances. I can't help but feel worried myself. What if they do something to hurt or kill Clarke?
"I'll be fine," Clarke says not sounding sincere.
"Clarke—" Finn starts
"Hey. It's time to do better," Clarke says to Finn confidently.
Good luck Clarke," I say.
She nods in gratitude then walks up to their leader. The leader gets off her horse and walks over to Clarke. Octavia, Finn, Lincoln, and I all exchange glances. Finn looks worried, Octavia does also. The only one who doesn't look worried is Lincoln who just looks focused. I grab Octavia's hand and she squeezes back. They begun talking, but I can't hear what they are saying. Clarke offers her hand, but the leader refuses to shake it. They keep talking, but the grounder leader looks pissed. I look to the trees and see something out of place. I try to look harder but can't really see anything. I attempt to dismiss my thoughts, but I just can't.
"Lincoln," I whisper.
He raises an eyebrow.
"The trees," I whisper.
He looks around.
"I don't see anything," he replies in a whisper.
I don't want to point and make the grounders suspicious.
"Never mind," I say.
We wait for a bit longer.
"Clarke run!" I hear a voice then gunshots.
I look down to see Jasper firing like a madman and Bellamy and Raven aiming their guns at the trees. Two grounders fall dead right where I was looking. I grab Octavia and run away from the bridge.
"Cmon we gotta go!" I say.
The grounder leader gets her knife out, but gets shot in the arm.
"Go to her!" I yell at Lincoln frantically.
Lincoln turns around as arrows fly past us.
"Clarke get down!" Finn yells and runs toward her.
He grabs her and they run toward us.
"I see an arrow flying toward Octavia. I shove her behind me and scream as the arrow pierces my rib cage.
"Robby!" Octavia yells.
I grunt loudly through gritted teeth.
"Oh my God Robby! You've been hit!" Octavia says in a panic.
"Yeah you think?" I say in pain, but it sounds rude.
Lincoln catches me as I fall to the ground.
"Pull it out," I whisper through gritted teeth.
"This is gonna hurt," he says.
"Do it!" I scream
Before I know it a pain I never thought possible tears through me as Lincoln rips the arrow out. The scream is very short, but almost animalistic. I hiss in pain right after.
"I'm fine. Thank you," I muster out.
"Your a warrior Robby, don't let the pain win," Lincoln says in encouragement.
"Run until you get behind your walls and don't stop!" Lincoln says frantically.
"Robby!" Finn says grabbing me.
I latch on for support.
"Take him! Go!" Lincoln says and we run like theirs no tomorrow.
"Bellamy, Robby's been hit we need to get him to the dropship," Finn says frantically as we meet up in the woods running toward our camp.
Bellamy nods and I put my arm around him for support as we run back to camp.
When we finally get back I'm feeling better, but I'll still need Clarke to look at it. We arrive back at camp and Finn is glaring at Bellamy. We're all out of breath and I'm really not in the mood for an argument.
"You got something to say?" Bellamy says challengingly
"Yeah. I said no guns!" Finn yells storming up to Bellamy.
"I told you we couldn't trust the grounders. I was right." Clarke argues back.
"Why didn't you tell me what y'all were up to?!" Raven yells at both Finn and I.
"I tried, but you were too busy making bullets for your gun!" Finn yells back.
I'm too lightheaded to argue and simply look at the leaves in the ground.
"Your lucky she brought that! They came there to kill you, Finn!" Bellamy yells.
"You don't know that! Jasper fired the first shot!" Finn yells back.
Jasper looks at the ground wide eyed. I'm to pissed off for words.
"You ruined everything," Octavia seethes at Jasper who looks at her wide eyed.
She walks away before he can respond.
"I saved you!" Jasper yells after her.
"No shut the fuck up! You didn't save shit. You just tried to be there damn hero once again. Instead you fucked it up," I say in pure anger toward Jasper.
"Go float yourself," he hisses at me with venom.
"Shut up Robby," Bellamy warns.
I shake my head and walk on my own with a bit of a struggle. I walk in Jasper's direction who looks at me with hatred. I shoulder check him as hard as I can. He stumbles back and I walk in the same direction as if I'd never touched him. I go into the dropship and smack the wall as hard as I can. I make sure to use an open hand this time to avoid injuring my knuckles.
"Dammit!" I yell and throw the first thing I pick up at the wall.
The pill bottle doesn't break, but it startles the hell out of Clarke who has just walked in to see the bottle fly past her head.
"What was that?" She asks accusingly.
"What was what?" I sneer back with animosity.
"Saying things to Jasper like that," she says accusingly.
"What?! He fucked everything up and tried to play hero because of his little crush on MY GIRLFRIEND!" I yell.
"He knows. Robby, you especially, can't say that to him. He is most likely jealous of you and Octavia so telling him the obvious doesn't help matters!" Clarke argues.
"Clarke, I swear if your about to give me an anti bullying lecture then—" I start
"No! I wasn't. just let me see where the arrow hit," Clarke says flustered, but trying to change the subject. I take off my jacket and lift up my shirt.
My body really has gotten stronger. My six pack is extremely solid and popping out unlike before where it was visible, but not as chiseled. The gaping hole which is now bleeding profusely doesn't look as big as I thought it would.
"I saw you take an arrow for Octavia. I can tell how much you love her," Clarke says she she cleans my wound.
"Yeah. I'd do anything for her," I say squeezing my eyes shut as Clarke touches the wound.
"That's good. You've grown up a lot since the ark," she says smiling at me.
I look down and smile slightly.
"Well I only stopped a culling," I say in a joking manner.
"You saved 320 innocent lives Robby," Clarke says with emphasis.
"Yeah, you know what, I did," I say as my mood builds up and my confidence increases.
I quickly wince in pain as she rubs some kind of ointment on the open wound.
"The arrow missed your lung since you can still breathe just fine. Looks like just a flesh wound. It isn't poisoned because you don't have any side symptoms. I'll cauterize the wound, stitch you up, and have you on your way," Clarke says in her doctor voice.
I hiss loudly as the hot blade burns my wound and the blood sizzles on my skin.
"I actually thought about pursuing a medical career at some point," I blurt out.
"Why'd you stop?" Clarke asks curiously.
"I thought your mom would hate me and tell me to take a walk because of how I treated you," I say.
"Maybe," she shrugs.
"But the ark always needs more doctors. I'm sure my mom would've made great use of you. And I'm even more positive that she'd love to work alongside the person you are now," Clarke says beaming at me.
"Thanks," I say.
"How did your talk with your dad go on the radio? I never got to ask you," Clarke says.
"Quite well actually. He told me about the culling that didn't happen thankfully and he seems proud of the person I've become. I think we have a shot of having a real relationship when he comes down in a few days," I say hopefully.
"I'm really happy for you Robby. You deserve that," she says.
She stitched up my wound and wraps bandages around my torso.
"All set," she says with an encouraging smile.
For some reason instead of just walking out. I pull Clarke into a hug.
"Thank you," I say.
She hugs back and says "any time."
We suddenly hear something outside. Clarke and I run out of the ship and look at the sky.
"The hell? The exodus ship?" I ask.
"Guess their early," I say smiling at Clarke who grins at me.
My blood runs cold as they are coming to fast and haven't deployed a parachute.
"Wait. Too fast. No parachute?" Clarke asks growing scared.
"I-I don't know," I say having an internal panic attack.
My heart jumps out of my chest as I see the ship hit the ground and a large explosion follows. I glance at Clarke who just stares in shock. I put my hands on my head and just stare in shock at the flames. Nobody could have survived that.
"No," I whisper
Clarke whimpers something I can't hear and starts to collapse. I grab her before she can fall to the ground.
"No. No. No," she repeats over and over and she clings to me for dear life.
I hold her tight as we both cry silently. I was never gonna get that relationship with my dad and she would never see her mom again. We both just lost our remaining parents in the blink of an eye.

Author's note: Sorry it's been a while since I've updated, school has been kicking my ass. The comment section is always open. Please feel free to leave feedback. If you have suggestions for change then shoot please, I would be happy to hear your criticism unless your mad that Octavia is not with Lincoln then just watch the show or read another story. Lincoln is one of my favorite characters and I want him to play a huge role in the story and I really like writing him as a friend and older brother figure to Robby. I hope y'all have been enjoying my story because I have enjoyed writing it immensely.
