You know three would have sufficed, not ten." Noa said leaning against her bathroom counter.
"Make it eleven. I have a doctors appointment in an hour to confirm it." Alexi mumbled running her hands through her hair.
"Confirm what? Lex, they all say the same thing. There's no need to confirm it." Noa said laughing at her.
The green eyed brunette flipped her off and leaned back against the counter, staring at the test in her hands.
"Want me to go with you?" Alexi nodded and stood up. "Yeah I would." She gathered up the tests and threw them out except for one. She put that one in her purse ignoring the smirk that played on her new sister in laws face.
"Gotta say, it's about time. With the way you and him are I thought it would have been sooner." The tall brunette jerked her head back in mock rage. "Uh one, rude." She held up one finger then another. "Two your ass is going to be knocked up by the end of the week, if not sooner." Noa flipped the tall woman off and walked out of the small bathroom.
Alexi followed the petite woman down the hall to the kitchen, holding the plastic bag of used pregnancy tests. She tied the bag off and threw it out.
An hour later Alexi was laying on her back in an examine room with Noa by her side waiting for the doctor. "God, I hate waiting." Alexi sighed looking at her sister in law who nodded and seemed really uncomfortable.
"Noa, you okay?" Alexi said suddenly concerned. "'mana, I'm fine. you just got into my head and it's freaking me out." The woman laying on the bed chuckled, very pleased with herself.
"No, seriously. We aren't careful at all. Santiago and the church, you know don't believe in birth control..." The bright green eyed brunette sat up, frowning.
"Would it be really bad if you were?" Noa clicked her tongue and thought about it for a second. "No. I'm worried about the ability to carry his babies. Your brother is huge compared to me." Alexi listened to her sister in law nodding along with the smaller women words.
"We were all tiny babies, If that makes you feel better." Noa gave the woman on the table a half smile and shrugged.
"It's crazy, I know. But if I am and then you are, we would have each other through the whole process!" Alexi said as she smiled thinking about it. "What do you mean "if" you are? are you loca? You took ten tests and all ten came back saying the same thing. You are, chica. Come to terms with it." Alexi huffed and looked away. "Here I thought I wanted to be pregnant with you." Alexi jokingly pouted as Noa laughed and the door opened with a knock.
"Look at what the cats dragged in!" Alexi exclaimed excitedly as LoLo entered the room. "Trouble! I knew something was up when I was handed your file. I could feel it pulling me in." LoLo said dramatically clenching her fist to her chest and laughing.
The green eyed brunette scoffed playfully and shook her head. "LoLo, this is my sister in law, Noa. Noa this is Gomes's sister, LoLo." The women exchanged hands smiling at the other one. "God, you're beautiful. I knew you'd have to be to get Santiago's attention. I heard he's cleaned up his act since being with you though." LoLo started to ramble and Alexi cut her off.
"Right, right, right. Well, Alexi Rae you are very pregnant. Congrats! I thought it would be sooner but hey." LoLo said with a shrug as she handed her the paperwork. Alexi looked from one woman to the other astounded. "Will you both stop? Dios mío you act like we have sex everywhere we go!" She shook her head at the smirking women.
"So, what's the next step? Oh and can Noa get a test done too?" The woman in the chair glowered at the girl sitting upright on the exam table who, shot her a wink. "Next step is a scan. Do you have any idea how far along you are? And if Noa wants to pee in a cup I can get her blood work ready." Alexi ran her hands through her hair her long, dark, curly hair and shook her head. she had no idea.
"Well, we'll just scan ya then. Lay back and gimme that belly." LoLo said chuckling. The woman left the room for a second and came back with a nurse. "Noa this is Lindsey, she's going to take you to get your blood work done and get you set up for your pee test." Noa stood and walked out with the nurse. "We'll wait for you." LoLo said to Noa as she left the room. "You better!" The short woman replied and closed the door behind her.
"Hows school going?" Alexi asked after the woman had settled beside her. LoLo shook her head as she tucked paper into the waistband of Alexi's pencil skirt. "Así que toma esto." (So get this.) The woman turned on the machine and sat in the spinner stool. "Since, I completed my undergrad while looking after you brats." She shook the bottle of goo as she rolled over to the wall to flick off the lights.

LoLo pushed Alexi's shirt up more and smiled at her belly.
"Eso es confuso" (That's confusing.) LoLo nodded. "Realmente es. ¡Todo ha estado tan loco!" (It really is. Everything has been so crazy.) She shook her head and sighed a deep sigh. "¿Qué hay de ti y ese marido tuyo? ¿Que esta pasando ahí?" (What about you and that husband of yours? What's going on there?) Alexi chuckled and LoLo picked up the doppler.
Alexi shrugged and sighed. "Estamos bien. Su trabajo ha estado ocupado. Me pone nervioso, las cosas con Tio Marc no han sido tan buenas últimamente. Haps bien. Pasar mucho tiempo en el camino. He estado viajando los fines de semana para verlo. ¡Tenemos cachorros!" (We're good. His work has been busy. It makes me nervous. things with Tio Marc haven't been that great, lately. Haps good. Spending a lot of time on the road. I've been traveling on the weekends to see him. We got puppies!) Alexi pulled out her phone and showed her good friend pictures of her brindle pitbull, Flit and her Great Dane/Shepherd mix, Meeko.
"Suena como chica divertida. Me sorprende que te permita ir a verlo porque yo nunca lo consigo." (Sounds like fun chica. I'm surprised he lets you come and see him since I never get to.) Alexi rubbed her hands over her face. "Cuéntame sobre eso. Su Oakland no eres tú ni nadie más. Él no cree que sea seguro." (Tell me about it. Its Oakland not you or anyone else. He doesn't think its safe.) LoLo started laughing and shaking her head. "You're ma is going to shit." Alexi gave a low chuckle and groaned. "So many babies this year. She's going to go loca." The girl on the table stretched and shrugged. "She wanted babies. She's got them." The door opened and Noa came back in and sat down. "Well, while you wait, let's look at what we have." LoLo said grabbing the doppler.
"O..." LoLo said the word caught in her throat as the screen flickered to life. An odd sound filled the quiet room. "What? What is it?" Alexi asked looking from the monitor to the doctor nervously.
"First you're super far along. Shame on you for not keeping track or coming in before now. Second, he knocked you up twice, mama." LoLo turned the screen to face Noa and Alexi. The green eyed woman gasped her hand flying over her mouth at the sight of her babies. LoLo was quiet for a while, rolling the doppler over Alexi's stomach.
"By the looks of it you're about eighteen weeks. Four months and two weeks." LoLo stated, turning to the woman on her table.
"I have never been regular, Lo and it's been hectic with the club lately. I haven't exactly had time to sit and think. Plus, with my familia it's never a dull moment." LoLo huffed out a sigh and was quiet for a while.
"Okay, alright." She shook her head still disappointed in the girl but she kept that at bay. Had to have good bedside manner after all. "So everything Looks great. Thank god. The babies are measuring where they're supposed to be so that's even better. Here's a prescription for prenatal vitamins. Take them before bed so you don't get sick in the morning. I'm telling you right now, dial back on everything. Given your history, I'm putting you down for high risk. Have you been smoking or drinking?" Alexi shook her head vehemently.
"I stopped all that awhile back." Noa nodded earnestly. "She has! like, right after the wedding right?" She asked leaning forward to watch the babies move. Alexi nodded in agreement.
"Yeah that's about right." The good doctor nodded and smiled slightly. "Even better. From here on out you come to every appointment. I'm going to call down to St. Thomas and see if they have an opening for you there. I don't want you traveling if you don't have to. St. Thomas has some good doctors down there. Not as good as me, but they're good." Alexi and Noa chuckled.
"But I want you. What am I going to do without you Lo?" Alexi asked jokingly. The doctor shook her head and turned away from the girl taking her gloves off and throwing them away.
There was a knock at the door and it opened. Nurse Lindsey came in with some paperwork. Noa took it from the nurse with a smile and stared at the words in front of her. LoLo rolled over to the small woman on her stool and looked over her shoulder.
"Looks like we're doing this together." Noa said excitedly. the girls clapped and hugged. The doctor turned back to the machine and printed out a couple pictures. "Oh you want to find out what they are?" LoLo asked the curly haired brunette on her table, holding up the scanner. Alexi shook her head. "I have to find a way to tell my husband. Adding That, might just be too much."
LoLo nodded and grabbed a pen, paper, and envelope. She wrote something down, folded the paper up with a picture from the scan and put it in the envelope before sealing it.
"Open this when you're ready." She said handing the envelope over to over to Alexi. Who took it and put it in her bag. The good doctor handed some paper towels to the woman on the table.
After the green eyed girl cleaned up the goo off her stomach, Noa hopped on the table. They went through the same process and LoLo rolled the scanner over the small woman's stomach. the baby's heartbeat filled the room.
LoLo moved the scanner and started typing away. "When was your last period?" LoLo asked staring at the screen. Noa scrunched up her face thinking. "A couple weeks? Been busy with school." LoLo looked over at the girl and showed her the screen. "I bet it is. you're just at fourteen weeks." Alexi mouth fell open.
She and Hap had been married for six months. Noa and her brother got married two months later. They just went to the courthouse had a tiny ceremony there. They got a lot of shit for that but neither one of them were big on a huge ceremony.
"Damn, chica we're really in it together aren't we?" Alexi said laughing. LoLo shook her head not understanding how these two women not notice they hadn't had their periods for as long as they had.
Noa beamed and nodded. "I got you boo, we got this." Alexi said getting up and kissing the side of the woman's head. "Okay well here's a script for you. As well, take it a bedtime so you don't get sick. You want to know what it is?" The doctor asked shaking her head and smiling at the two women.
Noa shook her head. "I want it to be a surprise." The other woman nodded and printed off some pictures handing them over to her patient. "Well, call in for an appointment if you change your mind." Noa nodded as she cleaned off her belly.
The women made their next appointment and walked out of the building. "Chel wants to meet for lunch. What do you say?" Alexi asked putting her phone back into her pocket. "Yes please! I'm starving!" Noa exclaimed as they walked to the shorter woman's suburban.
Ten minutes later they met Michele for lunch. At a little cafe on main street.
"What's up with you two?" Michele asked looking between the two women. Alexi sat up straighter and frowned. "Nothing is up. Why would you say that?" The green eyed beauty asked ignoring the look that Noa sent her.
"Because you both are acting like the twins. They get the same look you are giving me right now, Alexi. when they're hiding something from me. So spill." Alexi tapped her nails on the table and glanced over at Noa who was biting her lip and smiling. "Well, bossy. if you must know, we're pregnant." Alexi said linking her arm with Noa's and raising an eyebrow at her sister in law. Michele's mouth fell open and she was quiet for a moment.
