He lifted her onto the bed, holding her in his arms.

"I'm sorry about earlier", she whispered to him.

"Let's get out of the house", he suggested. She nodded. Angelica rushed over to her, pulling her into a hug. She glared at Alexander.

"I didn't touch her, you don't have to give me such harsh glares", Alexander whispered so their father wouldn't hear. Angelica cupped her face. Eliza sighed when she saw the slight bruise on Angelica's cheek. She didn't know if it was from John or father.

"Thank you", Angelica whispered back.

"We're going for a walk. Do you want to accompany us?" Eliza asked her. Angelica shook her head.

"No. I'll mind Angie and Philip for you", she kissed Eliza's nose. Eliza smiled.

Eliza kept her head down, clinging to Alexander as they walked in the garden.

"I hate seeing you so fearful", Alexander wrapped his arms around her. He sat them down on the grass.

"I opened up about my childhood. I don't mean to pry but I feel like there's more to your father's temper than you let on", Alexander squeezed her hand. She stood up.

"It's madness, Alexander!" She yelled, pacing back and forth, anger brimming in her.

"He hit us no more than any other father".

She ran her hands through her hair, with shaking hands.

"It was always because we were women though. He hit us for stuff that men got away with, that men were praised for. We had guests nearly everyday. We had to be on our best behaviour all the time. Do you realise how tiring it is to not have somewhere you can relax. We were to be good wife's to our husbands. It's why I'm always urging you to take a break. I know what it's like to be overworked".

Alexander stood up, taking her hands in his.

"My angel, your hands are shaking. Breathe", he instructed her.

She let out a deep breath.

"I'm sorry I failed you", her father's words still echoed in her mind. Sometimes ladies need a firm hand, Alexander.

Alexander smiled, softly at her. He cupped her cheek.

"You did not fail me, my love. You are the best of women and the best of wives. Do you not realise how quickly I would bore of a good housewife that your father describes". Eliza frowned. Alexander elaborated.

"You are the sweetest, kindest woman I have ever met. You have progressive ideals that match my own. Your charm takes me by surprise everyday I am with you. When I am away my days are filled with thoughts of you. When I sleep you intrude upon my dreams. I awake each morning to thoughts of my beautiful wife. I love your quick thinking, your wits, your passion for education for everyone. You see potential and you're not afraid to act on it", he smiled at her.

Eliza rolled her eyes, but couldn't help but smile as she leaned up to kiss her husband.

"I don't deserve you", he whispered under his breath but she heard it.

"It's not about what you deserve. From the moment I saw you, I saw greatness. I knew you'd do great things", Eliza wrapped her arms around his waist. He smiled.

"And so will you", he looked into her eyes with such determination that she felt the need to look away but couldn't. Even if she did she'd always go down in history as Alexander Hamilton's wife. No remembered women. Her story would never be told.

She nodded. She didn't need it to be though. She wasn't obsessed with a legacy like he was. She grew up with one.

"Now about that green gown that I promised you", he smirked as he kissed her. He sat down with her on his lap.

Eliza went to the kitchen to help make dinner.

"You have grass in your hair sweetie", Catherine pointed out as she prepared the meat. Eliza blushed as she got it out.

Angelica laughed.

"Did you have a nice walk?" Angelica asked Alexander as they sat down to eat. Eliza kept her head down, blushing. The servants served them the meal.

"It was quite eventful. The gardens are beautiful", he replied with a smile. Catherine smirked as she took a bite of her food.

"I'm curious about something. Alexander if you were in a band. What instrument would you play?" Angelica asked once only Alexander and Eliza could hear her. Catherine and Philip were talking to John.

Eliza covered her face, she didn't know if Alexander understood the meaning behind the question.

"Probably a guitar, I love strumming the strings. What about you, my angel? What would you play?", he smirked at her. Eliza glanced up at her parents to check if they were listening.

"Bagpipes. They've always fascinated me", Eliza elaborated her answer. Alexander gulped.

"You dirty girl", Angelica laughed.

"Can I join the conversation?" Catherine asked them. Eliza smiled.

"We were just talking about music. I was going to play something on the piano. I'll go check if it's in tune", Eliza told her. Angelica suppressed a laugh.

Alexander followed her.

"You bewitch me", he held her close to him. She cupped his cheek as she kissed him. He bit her lip.

"Alexander", she moaned. She pulled away. She checked the piano, playing each key to make sure it was in tune. The rest of the family met them inside. Eliza played the piano, singing a tune as she did so.

She smiled seeing Angelica dancing with John.
