Chapter 26: Training starts?
In the morning, a blond head surfaced from the depths of sleep at the sound of an alarm clock. Slowly, the body attached to it lifted from the bed, making a small orange animal move to the side of the bed, and started to drag towards the bathroom, one foot at a time. Ten minutes later, the fully awoken boy exited the bathroom and headed towards the kitchen and prepared a quick breakfast. As he cooked, a young girl entered the room.
"Ne, Nii-san, are you always that early?"
"Hai, Tomomi-chan" he replied "if I wake up early, I can get some morning training before going to my team meeting, I can warm up for any task that will come to us. I even used to do it when I was at the Academy, but that was to prepare some pranks..."
His voice trailed a bit, and he turned to place some food on the table, for him and for the girl, just as the little fox arrive from the bedroom.
"For the next coming month, it seems that I'll stay in the village, the Hokage said that I had a month to train before the Chuunin Exam."
"So, I'll see you every days?" Tomomi's eyes went wide opened in expectation, while scratching the head of the fox.
"Yep and depending on how Kurenai-sensei want us to organize, maybe I could bring you with me and show you some things you could learn" He was smiling while starting to eat.
"Cool!" Tomomi jumped at her food, leaving the fox to curl under the table;
As the food quantity dropped, Naruto gathered the dishes and set a clone to wash them.
"What about learning a bit this morning, with this guy?" Naruto said pointing to the clone. "Whatever I do, I can have at least a clone with you to help you learn how to read, how to write, how to count... The basics..."
"Would I be able to do it?" Tomomi looked a bit sad.
"You are the one to decide what you are able to do and what you are not." Naruto replied, "Sure there will be things that adults will tell you not to do for multiple reasons, safety, security, or because they want to keep something a surprise, but not doing something is different from not being able to do it." He looked at her, checking if she understood, but she was thinking. "With work, you'll be capable of doing nearly whatever you want. This is even more true with shinobis, because chakra enables all sort of possibilities."
"Then, if I'm the one to decide, why start with the borings?" Tomomi replied, still thinking.
Naruto reached into a pocket and extracted a scroll, then tossed it to the girl, who nearly failed to catch it.
"These are the instructions for one of the more powerful jutsu I found this far." He explained as she unwrapped the scroll.
"Can't you teach it to me?" Tomomi asked.
"I am not able to perform it yet. And the other users of it are dead. This is probably the last trace there is of this jutsu. The only way to learn it is to read and decipher the instructions from this scroll."
"So, you say that I learn to read so I can read jutsu scrolls?" Tomomi handed the scroll back to Naruto
"Well, you'll also need to read mission scrolls, messages, announcements, menu at a restaurant..."
"Hmmm... But what about counting?"
Naruto grabbed a coin and tossed it to Tomomi. "Here, this is a million ryos, you're rich!"
"This ain't a million..." Tomomi said unsure
"How do you know?"
"Right, so I also need to count..." Tomomi looked resigned.
"And this" He grabbed another scroll and unwrapped it "is why you would probably want to learn to write." he showed the writings on the scroll; a bit complex.
"Why do..."
Naruto pushed a bit of chakra in the writings, which glowed a bit, before a katana popped from it in his hand.
"Whoaaaaa..." Tomomi's eyes were wide opened, with stars in them "how did you do that, it's magic!"
"Chakra is magic, this is the basic of Fuuinjutsu, a complicate branch of shinobi jutsus that require a perfect handwriting. The possibilities of Fuuinjutsu are immense, you can do barriers to protect areas, you can prevent dust in your house, you can hold things like this" he pushed the katana back in the scroll. "you can make a seal explode, bind people... There is even lots of things that need to be created, or recreated..."
"You'll teach me?" She was making puppy eyes.
"Not before you are able to write perfectly." Naruto looked at the clock. "Oh, crap I'll be late, I'll see you later Tomomi-chan" he kissed her on the forehead.
The fox came from under the table, Naruto crouched to scratch his head
"I cannot bring you with me now, but we'll train so we can walk outside together... For now, you take care of her like you did last week"
The fox emitted a small noise signaling his approval, and Naruto ran through the door.
