Once back home, no sooner then Jane shutting the front door and turning around she found herself being pushed back up against it and her mouth over taken by her wife's. "Mmm babe. "Missed me much?" She said between kisses smiling against her wife's warm lips. "God yes." Maura mumbled.
The kisses kept coming and gained momentum. Jane ran her hand up Mauras shirt to warm skin pulling her wife into her even more. Things were about to take off but not before Angela interrupted. "Geez you two get a room." Angela said with a grin. "Ma! Really?". Jane says smoothing her shirt back out. Maura chuckled with red cheeks deciding to take the bags upstairs. "What?. Angela says innocently. " Do you ever knock?!" Jane asked a little embarrassed. "I'm sorry, I wanted to see my two favorite girls." "Im glad you are home Janie." Angela stated they to change subjects realizing the embarrassment she just caused.
"I'm glad to be home to Ma". Jane says giving her mother a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "Where's Ethan?" Jane asked wanting to see her son. "Hes down for a nap right now I'm sure he will wake soon." Angela says with a smile. Jane gets lost in her thoughts as she walks around there livingroom to look at the pictures for the last year. "I missed all of this." she thought to herself. "I was so stupid.." she hangs her head as the tears start falling. She didnt hear Maura descend the stairs.
"Jane." Maura calls. "Jane!" Maura walks over and wraps her arms around the tall brunette. Jane doesn't look up. "Baby what's wrong?" Maura says with concern. "Huh?" Ask Jane only just realizing her wife was hugging her. "I asked what's wrong honey?" Maura says noticing the tears. "I'm sorry babe, I- I just cant believe I missed a whole year with you guys." Jane says trying to pull herself together. "Oh Jane, sweetie." "Don't cry, it's okay you are home with us now." "Let's move forward and put this behind us." Maura says holding the brunettes face in her hands.
Jane wraps her arms around her wife and held her tightly. "God I'm such a wuss." "I love you Maur more then life." Jane says fighting back more tears. "You are not a wuss as you call it." "You are the strongest most amazing woman I have ever met." Maura says leaning in to kiss her wife. "I love you Jane Clementine Rizzoli." "For always." Jane smiles at her wife's words and wraps her into a hug and kisses her softly. "You are absolutely amazing Maura Dorothea Isles." "You aren't so bad yourself." Maura says with a grin then laughs.
Later that evening Jane sat on the floor of the livingroom playing with their son. Ethan didn't leave his Ma side the entire time. Maura joined them shortly. Jane was on cloud nine. She missed her family so much. As Jane and Maura played with their son a sudden knock was heard at the door. "I got it babe." Jane said standing up to greet whomever was there. "Hey guys!" Jane said an excitment. Frankie, Nina, Tommy and his girlfriend arrived.
"Hey sis." "Glad to see you back home." Says Frankie. After a few hugs everyone comes inside. "Maur we have company." Jane yells from the entryway. "Jane you dont have to yell." Maura reprimanded. "Sorry babe." Jane says kissing her wife. They order pizza for everyone. Ethan starts getting fussy. Maura stands to tend to their son. "No babe, let me." Jane said placing her hand on her wife's shoulder. Jane picks up Ethan and heads upstairs. She changes him and lays him down for the night.
Jane forgot about the baby monitors while she spoke to their son. " Mommy is so sorry little man." "I love you so much." "I promise I will always be around." "No more missing birthdays, or holidays." She sings him a sweet song one that her Ma always sang to her to put her to sleep. Everyone down stairs had tears in their eyes when Jane returned.
"What's wrong with you guys." She said with a grin. Maura was holding the monitor. "Oh, you guys heard huh?" Jane says rubbing the back of her neck. "Hell yeah." Frankie says with a smile. "I didn't mean to bum you all out." "Awe baby you didn't bum us out." Maura says grabbing her wife to sit next to her. "No Janie you didn't bum us out, we all understand but you might want to take up signing lessons" Frankie jokes receiving a swat to his stomach from his girlfriend. "Alright I can only handle so much sappy who wants a beer?" Jane asked trying to deflect the attention off herself.
She gets numerous answers from those sitting around the table. As the night goes on its filled with laughter, smiles and as always embarrassing stories some of which Maura hadn't heard before and Jane didnt want told but allowed it in good fun. Maura invited everyone to stay the night since everyone had way to much to drink. Everyone kinda piled all over the livingroom Jane woke in the middle of the night and chuckled as she seen her brothers and their girlfriends stretched out all over the livingroom floor like a bunch of over grown children mouths wide open and snoring.
She gets a glass of water and heads back to bed. It wasnt long before she fell back to sleep. About an hour later Maura wakes to Jane tossing and turning and mumbling in her sleep. "No...no!" Jane yelled in her sleep. "Baby." "Jane" Maura called softly not to startle her wife. Jane shoots up knocking Maura in the nose. "Ow!" Maura yelps. "Oh god Maur!" "Babe I'm so sorry." Jane says realizing what has happened. She quickly reaches over and turns on the light. "God babe are you okay?" She ask her wife who's holding her nose. "I'm fine honey." Maura replies pulling her hand anyway thankful Jane didnt hit her hard enough to make her nose bleed. "Shit Maur!" "I'm so sorry." Jane says with saddened eyes. "Its okay Jane, it was an accident you were having a nightmare." Maura says showing Jane her nose so she would know she was okay. "Fuck!" Jane says loudly feeling horrible about hurting her wife even if it was an accident.
"Sweetie lay back down, everything is okay." Maura said sweetly rubbing up and down Jane's back. "I'm gonna go check on Ethan first is that okay?". Jane said almost asking permission. "Of course love." "You don't have to ask Jane hes our son." Maura says still concerned about her wife. "I know, I don't know why that came out as a question." Jane says getting up to go look in on their son. She enters their room again a few minutes later. "Everything okay love?" Maura ask returning from the bathroom. "Yeah babe, everything is fine. Jane says with a smile. They both laid back down in each others and drifted off to sleep.
This happened for the next month. Jane was now a lieutenant at BPD so she was home most nights at decent times. But was still having nightmares and everynight it ended the same with her wife waking her softly and Jane getting up to check on their son. Maura started to grow more concerned. The next day Angela comes over like usual.
"Hi Angela can I speak to you outside for a second?" Maura ask while Jane was busy with Ethan. "What's going on Maura?" "Is everything okay?" Angela ask in concern. "Well yes, but no." Maura answers back. "Oh honey what is it?" Maura explains Jane's nightmares and things to Angela and makes arrangements for her to take Ethan for a night so her and Jane could talk about some things." "Oh Maura of course I can keep him for the night." "You two talk and get Jane some help for all shes been through." Angela says without a second thought. "Thank you for being so understanding." Maura says hugging her mother in law.
The next night Maura is in the kitchen making dinner Jane walks up behind her wife. "Hey beautiful." Jane says wrapping her arms around Maura. "Hey love." Maura says smiling and turning to face her wife. "How was work?" Maura ask releasing her wife to stir the pot. "Uh it was good but we got a really fucked up case." Jane replys getting a beer from the fridge. "Jane language!" Maura says. "Sorry babe." Jane says taking a seat at the table. Maura grabs a few plates and makes them up and settles next to her wife. "Babe this is amazing." Jane states after taking a big bite. "I'm glad you like it love." Maura says pouring herself a glass of wine.
After dinner they sit a talk a while just enjoying each others company. "Babe this night has been amazing why don't you head upstairs and I will clean all this up." Jane says gesturing at the table. "No sweetie I'll help and then we can both take a bath together." Maura says with raised eyebrows. "I like the sound of that." Jane smirks then gives her wife a kiss. The quietness falls between them before Maura speaks up. "Jane, can we talk about something?" Maura says wiping her hands off. "Of course babe." Jane says looking over at her wife realizing the look she knew it was important. "What's up?" Jane says taking her wife in her arms. "Well I know you have been having nightmares lately and Maura trails off for a minute. "And what Maur?" Jane asking wanting her wife to finish. "And I was thinking maybe I should talk to you about counseling." Maura says biting her lip. "Maur I'm fine, the nightmares will stop." Jane says going back to the dishes. "Jane, love please." Maura begs "I'm worried about you." Maura pulls Jane to look at her. "Baby, please." "I can only do so much to help with them." "I don't want you to just do this for me or Ethan." "I want you do this for yourself." "This doesnt mean that you are crazy or weak." "Because it takes a strong person to admit that they need help to deal with things." Maura says looking into her wife's big brown eyes.
"Will you go with me?" Jane asked with an ashamed look in her eyes. "Of course I will Jane." "If that's what you really want." Jane places her head on Mauras shoulder and nods. "Its what i need." Jane finally says. "I dont just want you there...I need you there." Jane says pulling her wife closer. "Then I will be there baby." "You hear me?" "I will always be there." Maura says fighting back tears.
It really broke her heart to know that her usual strong wife was feeling so scared. But she knew that Jane would be okay as long as she was there. And if it meant sitting through the horrible details of what happen and how her wife felt at that moment then so be it. She was going to do this for her wife she would always stand by her no matter what.
