"Welcome back Chaka" - Simba
Chapter 35: Finally Home
Later that day Chaka was approached by many lionesses. The lionesses have questioned him how he was able to escape and he told the whole story. After Chaka finished the story, everyone was stunned at what they heard. Some asked him how he was able to escape without Scar noticing and he said that Scar and his hyenas weren't around when he and Damu escaped. When he was finished, he and Kopa decided to get some much-needed rest after a long morning.
The next day Chaka woke up for a start. He looked at his brother Kopa, who was sleeping beside him to his left. And then he looked at Aisha who was sleeping beside him to his right. Being careful not to wake up his brother and sister, he walked out of the cave. As Chaka got out of the cave, it was still dark outside, but he knew that the sun would be up soon. So he decided to go to the promontory of Pride Rock. As he got to the promontory of Pride Rock, he sighed at the cool air going through his light brown fur. Just then he heard a sleepy voice say, "You alright Chaka?" Chaka spun around and saw his littermate and half-brother, Kopa standing there, a concerned look on his face.
"No not really," Chaka said shaking his head.
"Can't sleep?" Kopa asked.
"Yeah," Chaka said softly. "I don't know why but I'm just not used to sleeping here. It's been nearly two years that I was gone. I don't know why but I find it hard to sleep."
"That's normal," Kopa said, surprising Chaka. "You just need to adjust to sleeping here for the first time in a long time. Just give it some time and you'll be used to sleeping here again bro."
"I guess I could do that," Chaka said with a sigh. "But I don't know how long it will take for me to adjust sleeping here again."
"Like I said give it some time," Kopa said. "These things take a while to get used to. I had to get used to not seeing you here for a year and a half."
"Well I mean you did have a hard time forgetting me," Chaka said.
"Who told you that?" Kopa asked, shocked that his brother knew that he had a hard time moving on from him.
"Aisha did," Chaka confirmed. "When we were having a nice walk she told me that you would have the hardest time without me. She told me that you would feel depressed at times and that you couldn't go on without me."
"That is true," Kopa said, remembering how he couldn't move on from his brother. "Why'd you have to tell him, Aisha," Kopa muttered, annoyed that his sister would tell Chaka that he couldn't go on without his brother. Then in a louder voice, he said, "I just simply couldn't go on without you. It was too painful not seeing you. It really was. The fact that I had to hear that you were "killed" by Scar really made me want to kill Scar myself. It really made me angry. And my anger gets worse when Kibwe decides to mess with my temper."
"Well I mean losing loved ones is very hard," Chaka said. "But about Kibwe testing your patience I am not pleased by what he has been doing to you. I really am not. I thought that he'd change when he gets older, but I was so wrong and he's still that shit bag that talks all that smack."
"He'd always say that you would be just like Scar," Kopa informed his half-brother.
"He definitely has some nerve talking about me like that," Chaka said. "Just because I am biologically Scar's son doesn't mean that I'm going to be anything like him. Look at Damu. He's Scar's son as well and he's nothing like him. In fact, he's lived through hell during his reign too and yet was able to keep his kind nature. So Kibwe better keep his damn mouth shut when he says shit like this."
"Well knowing Kibwe he's not going to," Kopa said. "He will keep doing this to get under our skins. As much as we hate it we have to deal with it."
"Honestly the way he talks about me like that tells me that my father must have corrupted him or something," Chaka said, trying not to shudder at the thought.
"If Scar did then that's a problem," Kopa said.
"It most certainly is," Chaka said. "I'd hate for him to turn out like him."
"Yeah that lion still gives me nightmares," Kopa said, shuddering as he remembered all of the horrible memories of Scar.
"Well he's gone now," Chaka said. "I'm very glad that my cousin was able to overthrow him and take back what was his. And I most certainly think you'd be happy that your uncle."
"Yes I am," Kopa said with a smile. "He is also my step-father. Although I can't call him dad because I do still love my father after everything he's done to me."
"Very understandable," Chaka said with an agreement. "Although I don't think I will miss Scar one little bit. Like not at all."
"Well I mean he's caused you pain," Kopa said. "He wouldn't let you go say at least hi to mom."
"Yeah," Chaka said with a sigh, remembering how he wasn't allowed to go near his mother during his tyrant father's reign. "That's something that I wished I did. Just disobey Scar and just at least say hi to mom."
"Well if you did then Scar would have killed mom," Kopa pointed out.
"Yeah that's what I hate about that whole thing," Chaka said. "The fact that I was forbidden going near mom was something that was on my nerves. I've basically had enough of Scar's shitty rules."
"Well now that Scar is gone," Kopa said. "I'm just glad you're back bro." Kopa embraced his brother when he said that last part.
"I'm glad to be back," Chaka said with a smile. "I just hope that things get better in the future."
"Yeah and let's hope that Zira and her followers don't cause trouble," Kopa said, knowing that Zira and her followers were still a threat.
"Zira and her followers are a threat?!" Chaka asked, shocked at what he just heard.
"Yeah," Kopa informed his half-brother. "We just simply heard word that she and her followers are planning something. So Simba told us to stay away from the Outlands at all costs for our safety." Then he muttered, "Which is something, Aisha, Kali, Penda, and Kiara didn't do."
"Well whatever it is," Chaka began. "Let's just enjoy what's in front of us. We have to use it properly because one day Zira and her followers may end up declaring war with us."
"Yes I agree," Kopa said. "I'm just overjoyed seeing my brother again alive and well."
"I'm glad that you're doing okay too, fam," Chaka said.
"Me too bro," Kopa said, once again embracing his brother. "Me too." Chaka then embraced his half-brother after Kopa said that last part. They didn't realize Kibwe from just the entrance of the cave was watching this with a growl.
"Damn it all," Kibwe thought with a growl. "How did Chaka survive? There was no way in hell that he survived Scar. He should be dead by now." Then suddenly an idea came to him. "That's it!" he thought to himself, lighting up. "I know what to do now. I just need to wait until we are a bit older. I'm gonna try and see if I can turn Chaka against Kopa. I will see that it will work. I just need to do some planning and wait until we're a bit older. Mother won't know because she's ill." Kibwe was referring to his mother, Uzuri, who had caught ill a few days ago. "I just need allies to help me with this. I will make sure Kopa suffers. He deserves to suffer. His brother doesn't deserve to live. So I will use Chaka to turn him against his own brother. It will work perfectly." With these thoughts, Kibwe went down the side of Pride Rock and went to the watering hole. As Kibwe got there, he let out an evil laugh and bent down to drink the water. Kibwe then headed back to Pride Rock, evilly thinking of ways to make Kopa suffer in the future.
