Marinette and Adrien were back in their seats right when the passengers started waking up or coming out of hiding. Star Train was a wreck, there were holes in the floor, holes in doors, holes in the ceiling, the last car was gone, and the operator stopped functioning due to the damages. They had to wait for another train to pick them up and take them back home since there was no way they were going to London in that train.
Both Arthur and Tamamo slept through the entire trip to Paris, they were exhausted and in need of some recovering after their battle with Assassin. Since Tamamo lost one of her bows, the one that hid her tail, Arthur gave her his jacket to put over her as she slept and told her to keep it over her shoulders until she got home. When the train arrived in Paris, the two immediately ran home to rest, leaving everyone else to wait for a ride.
"What happened here?" Minami got out of the bus to see the students congregating around the train station. "Has the train not left yet?"
"Minami?" Miss Bustier said, "what are you doing here? You said you didn't want to come."
"I'm not here to go on a field trip, I'm here cause this guy can't enough of Paris." Minami pointed to Arjuna who also got off.
"I already told you, I felt something was wrong," Arjuna whispered to her.
"We can't tell them that," she whispered back. "Just stay quiet."
"What's going on?" Leticia also showed up with Karna next to her as he was scrolling on her phone to look for news.
"Fran, Stop, where are we going?" Yakumo was also present as he was dragged there by Berserker.
"Rider, I was in the middle of talking with Uncle Shinji, what is so important that you have to make me end the call and come here?" Tsubasa was the last one to arrive with Rider.
"And now there's no excuse as why we're here." Minami said, "the hell is happening to this place?!"
"I think we should all talk in private," Leticia suggested.
"Star Train in complete ruin, unknown reason why, reporters are on their way." Karna read from the notification on Leticia's phone.
The four masters with their servants hid in an alley way as the TV reporters questioned the students and faculty about the incident. Marinette joined them soon after her testimony and explained to them what was going on. If what Kaede said was true, then Shirou was ultimately behind the attack, but they couldn't do anything about it. Instead, they decided to go after Kaede and Assassin while Merlin handled the Shirou case. Those two were willing to carry out Shirou's orders, unlike anyone else, and were getting innocent people involved in the war.
Since they didn't know who Assassin was, it was going to be hard to defeat her. Tsubasa volunteered to do research on Kaede and the Einzbern family, while Marinette and Minami handled figuring out Assassin's identity. Arthur and Tamamo were easy picks to question, as they fought Assassin and knowing some of her skills would make it easier to narrow down who she was.
Unfortunately, Arthur was fast asleep by the time Marinette got home, and no one knew what do to about Tamamo. She was stuck to Adrien and getting into the Agreste Mansion was worse than breaking into a bank. So, they waited until the two were awake, which didn't happen until the next day. Arthur told Marinette about Assassin's skills, he explained the fight and how he and Tamamo were at a loss when it came to the mist. Assassin constantly talked about her mommy and the other kids like her, hints to who she was but not to Marinette.
Minami was more educated and theorized that Assassin was mostly likely Jack the Ripper. A surprise to Marinette, who heard Jack was a tall man in black, not a little girl with purple hair. The truth was that the Grail was capable of summoning servants from their different stories, in Jack's case, the little girl form was the story about her being a group of spirits who were abandoned children.
It was also possible to summon a servant from a different time in their life, in that case, their mindset would match the way they were at the time. If Arjuna was summoned as a child, he probably wouldn't have a rivalry with Karna as he didn't know Karna back then.
"Jack the Ripper," Tsubasa thought out loud. "And you're sure it's her?"
"There's no mistaking it, who else has a servant call them 'mommy' or 'daddy'?" Minami sighed.
"That's not really much evidence that it's Jack, there are many other servants who have nicknames for their master. Tamamo calls her master 'husband' for example." Yakumo leaned against the alley wall.
"What about her mist? What other servants can do that?"
"Quite a few," Leticia said. "But not many in the Assassin class."
"Mari," Minami got Marinette's attention. "You said Kaede used poison, right?"
"Uh, yeah." Marinette responded.
"Isn't that enough? Masters and servants are paired through their like mindedness, Kaede is a poisoner, isn't he?"
"From my research," Tsubasa spoke up. "Kaede isn't a skilled mage, his record of murders involves drugs, poison, or acid. That said, I believe Iris is the one providing Assassin with mana, as he's too weak to keep up Assassin's constant attacks."
It was agreed to go after Assassin as a team, there was no telling what the Einzbern family was capable of since no one had previous interaction with them before the war. In the meantime, they could only be on high alert, Prince Ali was going to arrive in Paris, and a servant battle could completely ruin relationships with Paris and India.
