"Kurts' okay, I guess...bit silent, though. Jerick is a one, really, paranoid dude. Oliver's like a typical high school jock with blonde hair and green eyes. The guy loves to flirt," said Katherine, showing the pictures on her mobile. Apparently, Hayley's ears were still sensitive after the transformation, so the werewolf decided to skip the video for later.

"Who's that?" Hayley asked, looking at one particular photo of a guy. The Laboniar wolf was sitting on the bed, cross-legged, beside Katherine.

"Ah! That hot guy in the desperate need of a haircut is the Alpha, Jackson Kenner," Katherine said, "Apparently, the poor guy is supposed to be your husband."

"Excuse me," Hayley sputtered.

"Yup, you guys were betrothed when you were young. Your parents wanted to make an alliance between your two packs, but things didn't happen that way," Katherine said, highly entertained by Hayley's expressions.

"You are kidding, right?" The werewolf asked with narrowed eyes.

"Nope. Jackson told me so himself. He also asked me to pass on a message to you," Katherine said, rolling her eyes at the cheesy dialogue she is about to repeat. "It might be a little different, but I am gonna state the gist of it," said the vampire, clearing her throat, trying to imitate Jackson's voice and failing miserably, "Tell Hayley that she will always have a family with me. I will be by her side until the end. Tell her the pack will forever be grateful for what she is doing."

"Please tell me his voice doesn't sound like that," begged a desperate Hayley, making Katherine scowl.

"Whatever," The vampire huffed, "I think he is lucky enough to dodge the bullet. Oh! The life he would've led by marrying you," Katherine said, shaking her head in sympathy.

"Hey! What's wrong with me?" Hayley shouted unamused.

"Where the fuck should I start..." Katherine began with a sigh. However, she couldn't complete the monologue when her phone rang. The vampire frowned, taking the phone from Hayley's hands.

"Hey, Caroline?" She greeted the blonde on the other side. Yet, when the newbie vampire talked, Katherine could make out a word.

"Care," Katherine said slowly, pausing the rambling for a second. "I can't understand you. Breath, and talk a little slowly, okay." And that's when she heard a sniffle.

"I...I..." Caroline said, but as soon as she began to say something, the words muffled and turned into crying.

"Hey. What happened? Why are you crying, Caroline?" The Petrova doppelganger asked, puzzled. Did her dad perhaps kidnapped and tortured her. But it shouldn't have happened at this point. Did the timeline for this shift, along with others?

"Kat," The blonde found her voice again, "It's Elena..."

"What did my doppelganger do again?" Katherine asked with a sigh.

"She...she's dead, Kat," And with that, the blonde vampire started sobbing again.

"Ex-excuse me?" Katherine is sure she heard it wrong. Her vampire senses must be experiencing some sort of technical error. "I think I heard it wrong? Because there is no way, you told me Elena Gilbert died."

"Elena is dead, Kat. Her heart is ripped out of her chest," Caroline said again, and Katherine's blood ran cold.

"How did this happen? She has a Bennett witch, 4 vampires, and a vampire hunter by her side?" Katherine all but shouted, her mind running wild as she started pacing around the room frantically.

"Alaric and Elena were in the woods as usual training. When Jenna didn't hear about them for a while, she called Stefan to go check on them. When he went, Stefan found Elena's heart ripped out, and Alaric was dead on the ground with his neck snapped," There was a hiccup, "And...and Bonnie has been trying everything, but she couldn't resurrect Elena. She says the spirits on the other side are not helping her," Caroline replied, still weeping over her dead friend.

Katherine closed her eyes, trying to not lash out, and think properly. "Did you find out what happened?" The vampire inquired. "Did the killer mistake her for me or something?"

Because if he has, Katherine should start running again. Not only from the Mystic Falls' gang but even from the Immortal Hybrid.

"No. No. He came after Elena. He wanted the human doppelganger dead so Klaus couldn't make more of his hybrids," said Caroline, her voice cracking as she spoke.

Is it perhaps Lucien or some other member from Strix?

"Did he say his name? Or how he looks like?" Katherine implored.

"Yeah," The blonde vampire said, "Mikael. He introduced himself as Mikael, the destroyer."

"How is that possible?" Katherine bellowed into the phone harshly. "Mikael is not supposed to be walking on earth. No, no. I don't think it's Mikael."

"No. That's the name Alaric told us," Caroline affirmed. "Who is he? Do you know him?"

"Caroline, listen to me," Katherine spoke into the phone seriously, "Ask Bonnie if she can track down Mikael. And no matter what you do, do not engage if he is still in Mystic Falls."

"What...why?"

"People call him the destroyer for a reason, Caroline," The Petrova Doppelganger urged, "He is ruthless and a hell lot older. A lot older than me and Rose. He burned down half of Europe and has left a trail of bodies everywhere he went. He is a vampire who hunts vampires. So, everyone, stay inside your homes, or even at Bonnie's, and don't under any circumstances come out."

"Okay, okay," Caroline mumbled, taking the advice seriously.

"Good," Katherine breathed out a sigh, and suddenly jerked her head in thought, "Has anyone informed Klaus?"

"No, I don't think so," Caroline mumbled. "I don't think anyone even thought of it. We are still processing."

Katherine sighed at that. Of course. This is Elena Gilbert they are talking about. The protagonist has all the lucky stars around her and wasn't supposed to die that easily. And even if she died, she would've come back as a vampire and live happily ever after.

"What's the situation? Did she have any vampire blood in her by any chance?" Katherine probed.

"No. None that we know of," Caroline said with a light sniffle.

"How are they?"

"Jeremy and Jenna are still crying. Rose is with them. Alaric is blaming himself. Stefan and Damon are with Bonnie, trying to help her. But it's not working," Caroline said.

"Just don't let Stefan do something stupid, okay," Katherine said, "Don't let him turn off his humanity. I will start now, I should probably be there in another 8 hours or so. I will talk to Klaus on my way."

"Okay," Caroline said, clearing her throat, and with that, they ended the call.

Katherine threw a flower vase into the wall as soon as she hung up, making Hayley flinch.

"I have to leave," Katherine mumbled, throwing her things from the closet into the empty red suitcase.

"I will start packing," Hayley said, getting up on her feet.

"You don't have to come. It's my problem," Katherine said, looking up from her luggage.

"Well, my pack wasn't your problem. You could've just given me their location and went on your way. But you stayed here and helped me the past week," Hayley stated, "So, I am gonna do the same."

"You don't understand," Katherine insisted, "Mikael is crazy. He could even kill Klaus, and he hates werewolves with a passion. He killed Elena because her blood will not help Klaus in making Hybrids anymore. And, I honestly don't even know how many days I am gonna stay there."

"Look. Like it or not, you are a part of my pack now. You had my back the other day. There is no way I am letting you go after knowing you are about to do something dangerous," The Labonair werewolf declared, rolling her eyes, "I will be back as soon as I know you will be okay."

"But..."

"I can't hear you," the wolf drawled, making her way out of the door, "What's that?" Hayley said over her shoulders, feigning ignorance, "Oh! You will be waiting in the lobby for me. Sure."

"You cheeky..."

And that's how the wolf and vampire found themselves in Katherine's Porsche forty-five minutes later on their way to Mystic Falls, not before making a pit stop by the bayou on their way.

"What is it?" Hayley asked with a sigh after observing the vampire for a few minutes.

"What?" Katherine asked, looking ahead on the empty road.

"Your hand is reaching for the phone one minute, and the next, you decide against it," Hayley said, rolling her eyes, "I'm tired of watching the same action for an hour now."

"It's nothing," When the vampire saw Hayley lifting her brow in ridicule, Katherine sighed, "I said, I will inform Klaus about Elena's death in a flow. And I hate to be the bearer of bad news."

"Hmm, do you want me to talk to him?" Hayley offered, benevolently.

"Hayley, You are not my mom, and Klaus is not some elementary school friend I had a row with," Katherine pointed out in a calm tone.

"Then talk to him," the werewolf insisted, "It's not like he can kill you through the phone."

"Very helpful," The 500-year-old vampire said sarcastically. "I know that. But if I were to say who killed Elena, I should also say about how I got back my memories, and he won't like it."

"Why should you reveal about that?" the wolf inquired, confused.

"Well, A. Caroline would've told the story about Mikael to the whole gang by now, and it will soon reach Klaus's ears. And B. I want Klaus to have a head start. Because if he dies in the hands of Mikael, I will die along with him."

"I don't understand, why would you die?" Hayley asked, puzzled.

Katherine, realizing she said more than necessary, cleared her throat, saying, "It's nothing. Just old lady talk," the vampire inwardly cringed at that. She then took her phone into her hands without hesitation and dialed Klaus' number before Hayley could ask another question.

"Ah! Twice in 24 hours," Klaus mused, "Don't tell me you have come to miss me."

Katherine clenched her steering wheel tightly, and gulped on her breath, uttering, "Klaus." At that moment, Catherine felt like a little girl who is about to be yelled by her grandma for doing something stupid.

Perhaps the unusual way of greeting indicated him something was not right, as he inquired in a solemn tone, "What's wrong?"

The vampire loosened her hold on the wheel a little, saying, "A lot of things. But let me start with the less bad one of the two."

"Katerina," Klaus warned her for not getting to the point.

"So, I may or may not have met a witch and removed all the compulsions you have placed on me," The vampire blurted out with a wince.

"Excuse me?" The person from the other side growled, making the vampire set the phone away from her ears for a tiny moment with a wince. The werewolf beside her, however, was amused by the discussion before her. Hayley has never seen the vampire showing so many emotions before. Even though Katherine didn't look afraid, not one bit, she had a look in her eyes that stated she would rather not have that particular discussion.

Katherine looked like a trouble maker who has been sent into the principle's office for punching a guy in the face. Hayley was barley restraining herself from making a video of this for future blackmail purposes. And she is absolutely looking forward to seeing this Klaus guy now.

"Look," Katherine interrupted Klaus's rage, "I was going nuts with all those blank holes in my mind. And when Stefan asked about the 20s, it just escalated. So yeah, I did what I had to do to keep my sanity intact. Or whatever left of it. No, thanks to you, by the way. And no, I don't regret it."

There was a pause, and a few harsh breathings followed. "Fine. Why are you telling me this?"

"I am telling you this because of the first bad thing," Katherine said, "Caroline called me today. Elena is dead, Klaus. A vampire named Mikael killed her," She didn't give him time to speak, as she resumed her talk, "And before you accuse me of anything. No. I haven't done anything. You can even compel me if that makes you happy."

"What did you say? Klaus said, quietly, fiercely.

"I am sorry. I know how much these Hybrids meant to you. But today morning, Mikael came out of nowhere when Elena and Alaric were out in the woods. When Jenna went to see them...Elena's heart was ripped out, Klaus. Bonnie has been trying, but there isn't much she can do without the support from Other Side."

"Where is he?" He asked with a slight shuddering breath, "Where is he now."

"I don't know. I asked Boonie to do the spell. But since she doesn't have any of his belongings other than Elena's body, I can't say," Katherine mumbled. "But I believe he is still in Mystic Falls. I think he either waiting for you or trying to find a way to contact you."

"If I find out you have any hand in this..."

"Can you stop being a douchebag for a second and listen to me," Katherine snapped at the immortal hybrid, "The memories I got back...according to them, Mikael was supposed to be desiccated by a witch and is kept in a tomb at a cemetery in Charlotte, North Carolina. He is not supposed to be walking in Mystic Falls. Unless..."

"Unless my mother had her hand in it," Klaus completed.

"Yeah, that," Katherine muttered. She thought for a moment on how to divert the conversation into her desired path. And so she asked for an answer to a question she already knew about, "Now, can you tell me why you are afraid of a hunter when you can't die."

"I am not afraid of anyone," Klaus hissed, and Katherine is sure she would be long dead if she were standing next to the hybrid.

"Yeah. That's why you ran away from him in the 20s, and erased every trace of Mikael's memories from my mind," the 500-year-old vampire retorted. "Look, I know you don't trust me because I don't either. That would be completely stupid and out of character. But, maybe, I can help you in some way with some other logical solution."

"And why would you even care about helping me?" Klaus inquired, the suspicion levels, rising to its peak.

"Because my life is linked to yours." No, she didn't say that. She was not that stupid enough to say something like that with absolute confidence and proof. So, instead, she said, "Because I am on my way to Mystic Falls now, and I would rather know my potential enemy and his weakness, than entering the war zone with a half-assed strategy that will likely blow up in my face."

"Know thy enemy," Klaus muttered from the other side.

Well, to say the least, Katherine wasn't expecting Klaus to confide in her. Not one bit. She was merely trying to throw a stone in there. But it seems Klaus was really a fan of her weirdly, logical bits of advice. Or maybe, he was sure everyone will know about him being the bastard son of Mikael in no time if the gang was going to have a showdown with Mikael. Nevertheless, Katherine got the story very well that no one would doubt if she made a slip-up.

"So, that is why the witch couldn't kill him," Katherine uttered the words as if she heard the story for the first time. "He is an Original Vampire like you, and he also has the white oak stake that can end you."

"I would've compelled you to never go against me if you were in front of me now," The Immortal hybrid muttered.

'Whatever," the doppelganger quipped, "I am not going to murder you until I know for sure that my deduction isn't correct."

"Tell me, Katerina, What other theory have you cooked up in that little brain of yours," The Hybrid asked truly intrigued.

"Pretty much that your death will result in the death of your whole Sireline," The vampire said flippantly. "Considering your mother is a bitch, I mean, a judgemental witch that hates you with passion and is also conniving. I am sure she created a kill button while turning you. Kill one and half the population of vampires go bye, bye."

"That's a very interesting hypothesis," Klaus concluded, after listening to her excuse, "I wouldn't put it past my mother to create a loophole like that, to be honest."

Even Hayley looked impressed after hearing it alongside the Hybrid.

"I know. Your parents will probably be disqualified before they can even enter the World's Greatest Parents competition," Katherine jested. "Anyhoo, are you coming to Mystic Falls, or not. Because Original or not, I will have to go and save Stefan and Damon's asses before they get killed in the hands of your psychotic father. And it would really help if Maddox and Greta are there. I don't trust Bonnie's ancestors or Bennett Powers at this point to not screw me up."

"I will see what I can do."

Hey Fellas. So that's another chapter for you. I will try to include Klaus's POV for the next one. Keyword being try. I find Klaus an interesting character that I cant portray that well. So if it comes out well, I will be sure to include it.

Toodles.
