Hey people! Thanks for your reviews they are amazing and I love them all! The song used in this chapter is 'Check Yes Juliet' by We The Kings. Thanks to joshannis12345 for the suggestion, I love this song so much! Ok, I don't really have a whole lot to say about this chapter, so I'll just get on with it - here's chappie 26!
Percy's POV
"Jason I'm going." I said, leaning on the doorframe of my cousin's room.
"Okay Aquaman, see you tomorrow." He said, not bothering to look up from his laptop.
I walked back into the living room and grabbed my bag and my guitar case, glancing at the calculus textbook that I had left on the coffee table, before walking out of the apartment. Hold on a sec, am I wishing that I could be doing calculus right now? Ugh no, I just want to hang out with Annabeth. I'm missing our tutor lesson today because I'm going to my mum's. I don't suddenly like calculus or anything. Anyway, I get to spend time with her tomorrow, I'll just, look forward to that. I walked down the stairwell and out to my car, dumping my stuff in the trunk before climbing into the front seat.
Fifteen minutes later, I was standing outside the door to my mum's apartment, fishing for my key in the depths of my rucksack. Great planning Percy.
"Ah hah! Got it." I said triumphantly, when my fingers closed around a cold metal key. I pulled it out and inserted it into the keyhole, and I was about to turn it, when the door opened from the inside.
"Percy!" My mum smiled when she opened the door.
"Hey Mum!" I said, embracing her. It felt so good to see her, even if it has only been a couple weeks since I was last here. "How did you know I was out here?" I asked, releasing her.
"I heard someone yell 'Ah hah!' and I came out to check if it was you." She explained, as I walked into the apartment and set my things down on the floor.
I was about to say something else, but I was interrupted. "Percy!" Estelle squealed as she barrelled into me, hugging my legs.
"Estelle!" I smiled, picking her up and kissing her on the head. "I missed you!"
"I missed you too!" She said, wrapping her little toddler arms around my neck. "Daddy! Percy's here!" She screamed, apparently in an effort to burst my eardrum.
Paul came out of the kitchen, smiling when he saw me. "You're home!"
"That I am!" I laughed, setting Estelle down when she started squirming in my arms. She ran off, but came back a second later, holding a piece of paper.
"Percy look!" She said, holding the paper up. "It's you!" On the paper, there was a crayon drawing of me on the beach, holding a sword. "It's like Mummy's books!"
"That's really good Estelle! You're an amazing artist!"
"Daddy says I'm gonna be like Leo Dinchi!"
Paul laughed, "I think you mean Leonardo Da Vinci sweetie."
"Yeah! Leo Dinchi!" She repeated, handing me the drawing, "Here you go Percy! It's for you!"
"I get to keep it?" She nodded. "Well then, I'm going to get it framed, and hang it up on the wall of my room so that I can see it every day."
"Yay!" She clapped, jumping up and down.
"So Percy, how's school?" My mum asked, leading me over to the sofa.
"It's great. I've made tons of friends, I like most of my teachers, I love my apartment, and for once I'm not failing calculus." Thanks to Annabeth. "It's just all...great."
My mum smiled, "I'm glad, you seem a lot happier."
"I am."
"Now tell me about this Annabeth girl, you must like her a lot to invite her to Thanksgiving."
I was about to answer, but was once again interrupted by Estelle. "Percy can you sing me a song?" She asked. She had managed to get my guitar out of its case and bring it over to me.
"Of course I can." I smiled, happy to get out of a conversation about Annabeth. "What song so you want me to sing?" I asked, taking the guitar from her.
"One of your songs!"
"Okay then." The only problem was, what sing am I gonna sing? I don't particularly want to sing one of the songs I wrote about Annabeth, especially when my mum just asked me about her. But I don't exactly want to sing a song I wrote about my emotional trauma to a three year old. Annabeth it is then.
I started to play a new song that I had written yesterday.
Check yes Juliet
Are you with me?
Rain is falling down on the sidewalk
I won't go until you come outside
Check yes Juliet
Kill the limbo
I'll keep tossing rocks at your window
There's no turning back for us tonight
Lace up your shoes
Eh oh eh oh
Here's how we do
Run, baby, run
Don't ever look back
They'll tear us apart
If you give them the chance
Don't sell your heart
Don't say we're not meant to be
Run, baby, run
Forever we'll be
You and me
Check yes Juliet
I'll be waiting
Wishing, wanting
Yours for the taking
Just sneak out
And don't tell a soul goodbye
Check yes Juliet
Here's the countdown
Three, two, one, now fall in my arms
Now they can change the locks
Don't let them change your mind
Lace up your shoes
Eh oh eh oh
Here's how we do
Run, baby, run
Don't ever look back
They'll tear us apart
If you give them the chance
Don't sell your heart
Don't say we're not meant to be
Run, baby, run
Forever we'll be
You and me
We're flying through the night
We're flying through the night
Way up high,
The view from here is getting better with
You by my side
Run, baby, run
Don't ever look back
They'll tear us apart
If you give them the chance
Don't sell your heart
Don't say we're not meant to be
Run, baby, run
Forever we'll be
Run, baby, run
Don't ever look back.
They'll tear us apart
If you give them the chance.
Don't sell your heart.
Don't say we're not meant to be.
Run, baby, run.
Forever we'll be
You and me.
You and me
You and me
"Yay!" Estelle clapped as I set the guitar down. "Daddy did you hear Percy's song?" She yelled as she ran off to the kitchen.
"Was that a new song?" My mum asked, eyeing me curiously.
"Yeah..."
"You're writing songs again?"
"I guess." Almost all of them are songs about Annabeth though.
"Wow. I'm impressed. This Annabeth girl must be reeeeeally special."
"Mum!" I yelled, embarrassed.
"What? I'm just stating the obvious." She laughed, raising her hands up in the air. "So come on, tell me about her. How did you meet?"
"At the coffee shop where she works. I actually work there too now - I got a job!"
"Don't change the subject." She said, seeing right through my plans.
"Well, I stuttered and she called me Persassy. And the next day, I went back to the coffee shop with Grover, so that he could help me with calculus, but had to leave. She was coincidentally sitting at the table next to us and heard the whole conversation, so she offered to help me. We spent three hours in the cafe, and when I got home, I wrote a song about her."
"You spent three hours on calculus?"
"Why does everybody always ask that? Is it so hard to believe that I would spend that much time on calculus?"
"Yes it is. Now keep going, when did you see her next?"
"I bumped into her one the street. Quite literally, she spilt her coffee all over herself so I gave her my jacket."
"Good to know I raised someone with manners, though it would've been better if you never bumped into her in the first place."
"It was Grover's fault - he was texting me. Anyway, she invited me to a party and I said yes. Turns out it was the same party Jason had been trying to get me to go to all week, and he was slightly annoyed when he found out."
"What happened at the party?"
"We played spin the bottle."
"Please tell me you kissed her."
"Yep, along with someone called Calypso, and Rachel from high school."
"She goes to NYU?"
"Yep."
"That's good, what happened after the party?"
"I fell asleep at her place, then in the morning she had to wake up early to go to work, so I went with her." I neglected to tell my mum the fact that I slept in the same bed as Annabeth - she didn't need to know that. "We talked about a lot of stuff, and we made muffins."
"What did you talk about?"
"Her family, our majors, oh, she actually loves your boo-" I stopped when I heard my phone chime. But I wasn't sure where my phone was.
"Daddy what does this say?" I heard Estelle ask. I looked over to the kitchen where Estelle was sitting up on the counter showing my phone screen to Paul.
"It looks like Percy got a text from someone called Wise Girl."
"Percy who's Wise Girl?" My little sister asked, as I walked over to the counter to take the phone from her.
"She's my friend."
"Why does she have a funny name?"
"She doesn't - that's just a nickname that I call her."
"What's her real name?" I glanced back at my Mum who was smiling, waiting for what I'm sure she already suspected to be confirmed.
"Her real name is Annabeth."
"Your girlfriend?" She asked, confusing me.
"What? No. Why would you think that?"
"Mummy told Daddy that you had invited your girlfriend over for Thanksgiving, and she said she was called Annabeth." The three year old stated, crossing her arms.
"Well, Mummy was wrong." I said, glaring at my mother. "Annabeth's not my girlfriend, she's just a friend."
"That's what Adrien says."
"Who's Adrien?" I asked, confused. I glanced up at Paul who had been watching this whole conversation with mild intrigue, and he shrugged his shoulders, apparently not knowing what she was talking about either.
"On Miraculous. Adrien always says Marinette's 'just a friend' but Marinette's Ladybug and he's in love with Ladybug."
"What?" I turned to my mum, still oh so confused.
"It's a TV show that she loves." She explained, Estelle confirming it by nodding.
"Well Estelle, Annabeth's not like Marinette, she really is my friend."
"Hmmm." Estelle furrowed her brow, not looking like she really believed me. "Can I get down?" She asked, quickly forgetting about Annabeth.
"Sure." I picked Estelle off of the counter and put her down.
She ran off to the sofa and climbed onto it. "Mummy can we watch Miraculous?"
"Of course we can sweetie." She said, turning the TV on.
I grabbed my phone from the counter and opened the text from Annabeth.
Wise Girl
Hey Seaweed Brain
Percy
Hey Wise Girl
What's up?
Wise Girl
Nothing
I was just wondering what time I should get to your mum's tomorrow
"Mum?"
"Yes Percy?"
"Annabeth wants to know what time she should be here tomorrow. What should I tell her?"
"Well the food will be ready around 3 o'clock, so tell her to get here at 2."
"Okay, thanks."
Percy
Is two o'clock okay?
Wise Girl
Yep
I'll see you then
Percy
See you tomorrow
Annabeth's POV
I chucked my phone onto my bed, and spun around in my chair. I had been trying to do some homework, but my mind kept drifting to Percy, and Thanksgiving, and Thanksgiving with Percy. My eyes wondered over to my wardrobe, where my new dress was hanging on the doorknob. I had taken it out earlier to have another look at it, and I hadn't put it back in. Truth is, I am desperate to try it on again, but I don't want to at the same time. I've never been the kind of girl to obsess over her clothes, or what she looks like, or anything like that, and I don't want to become one.
But the dress is really nice. Fuck it. I thought, as I got out of my chair and grabbed the dress. I changed into it, and looked at myself in the mirror. I have to admit, Piper did a really good job when she picked out this dress for me. It looks quite good on me (if I do say so myself). And Percy said it looked nice when I tried it on in the store. Ugh! No! I don't want stupid Percy to influence my stupid decisions. I've never been like this, not with any of the other guys that I've liked. First there was Luke when I was seven, and then there was... no one. Before I met Luke again, I didn't like anyone. All throughout middle school the first three years of high school, I never really liked anyone. I mean, I thought guys were cute, but I never had a serious crush on any of them. And then, after Luke, the first guy I liked was Percy.
Wow, I really have a whole lot of experience with this don't I? But I never felt this way with Luke - I never dressed up to try and impress him. And here I am, trying on a dress because I want to look good in front of Percy. What is this boy doing to me? I've never felt this way before. It's annoying. I like to be sure of things, and how can I be sure of something that I don't know anything about?
My phone screen came to life on my bed, and the sound of my ringtone filled the room. I walked over and picked up my phone. It was my dad calling. That's weird - he normally only calls once a week on Sunday's, and I expected him to call tomorrow for Thanksgiving, but I don't know why he would call today.
"Hey Dad." I said, as I answered the call. "What's up?"
"Hi Annabeth! I wanted to talk to you about something."
"What?"
"Well, you know how a few weeks ago there was some problem with a flight I booked, and it ended up getting cancelled?"
"Yeah, why?"
"As an apology from the flight company, I got two free flights, and I thought you could use them."
"What do you mean?"
"I know you couldn't afford the flight here for Thanksgiving, so I wanted to give the flights to you so that you could come here. I've already checked, there's a flight in three hours that I could book for you, and you'll get here at about 9 o'clock our time."
"Oh! Wow, thanks Dad."
"So shall I book it for you? Are you going to come?" My dad sounded so hopeful, and I was about to say yes, but something stopped me. I turned back to the mirror and looked at my dress. I've already told Percy that I'm going to his, I don't want to cancel on him. That, and I've been looking forward to it since he asked me.
"I'm sorry Dad, I've already made plans. Maybe you could use those flights to come visit me here?" I asked, I would love to see my Dad, it's been a while.
"It's alright Honey, I understand. I've actually got a work trip coming up in New York, so let's make sure to see each other then."
"Okay Dad." I smiled, "I'll see you soon."
"See you soon Annabeth. Oh, before I go, Bobby and Matthew say hi, and that they miss you."
"Tell them I miss them too, bye Dad."
"Bye Annabeth." He said, before hanging up. I do love my dad, and over the last few years he's really been trying to improve our relationship, which I'm grateful for, and I felt bad that I couldn't be there tomorrow, but I've already made plans with Percy, and I don't want to cancel. I looked in the mirror one last time, then I took my dress off and hung it back on the doorknob, ready for tomorrow.
So I hope you guys liked the chapter! Next up, there will be Thanksgiving! Yay! And there will be plenty of Percy embarrassing to come! Also, Annabeth may or may not need her King of Sparta ;-) Estelle may be slightly more verbal than your average three year old, but I don't hang out with many three year olds, so I'm not an expert. Thanks for all of your reviews, there is now a total of 236! That's so many! I love you all, you're all so kind, and I'll see you next time!
