Chapter 24
Maura and Jane woke up 2 hours later to Ava Grace jumping up and down in their bed, saying "It is time to get up, Mommy and Mama. Up, Up." They both stretched, rubbed their eyes, and pulled Ava Grace into a hug peppering her with kisses, as the toddler laughed. They could hear Sofia, Frost and Connie downstairs. Grabbing her robe Maura got up out of bed, picking up Ava Grace, she tickles her tummy and gives her kisses, as she heads to the nursery to check on Susie. Jane pulls on a t shirt and pair of shorts and headed downstairs to check on Sofia, Frost, and Connie, and to start breakfast. Breakfast was served, eaten and the kitchen was cleaned. Everyone went upstairs to get dressed, and each child was allowed to invite over one friend to play, swim and spend the night. They were planning on enjoying the day outside and BBQing. Inviting Frankie his family, Korsak, and KiKi over also. Maura had mentioned to Jane about Frankie's phone call, and Maura could tell Jane was upset, but she allowed her wife some time to think, while she prepared for the arrival of their guest.
Music was playing as a few of the kids were swimming in the pool, there was various types of snacks, and drinks for everyone. Jane was sipping a beer, as she was preparing the grill for the foods, that Maura had prepared and prepped such as: hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken breasts, sausage, steaks, corn, and various vegetables. Korsak was tossing the football around with Frost and his friend, Nina, KiKi, and Maura was sitting around the table chatting. Maura noticed that Frankie was easing his way over to Jane, who had her back to them. Jane finally turned around to see Frankie walking towards her, she could tell by the look on his face that something was bothering him, and she had been waiting for him to approached her wanting to talk. Seeing that Maura and the others was near by, she prepared herself for the conversation that had been avoided for several years with Frankie. Making sure the kids were not in range of hearing the conversation and were all okay, she took a deep breath.
Jane, I need to talk to you about a few things, Frankie said angrily. I want to know why you didn't tell me you were returning to BPD, after you left for Paris? I was doing an awesome job as Segerant-Detective of Homicide, while I was out on leave, you came back and took my job. Maura and you are married, she pregnant, and you never told any of us. Is it because you think that you are better then me, since you are the great Jane Rizzoli? Is it because of all of Maura's money? Or that you couldn't make it at the FBI? You couldn't fuck a man right, and you couldn't ever stay pregnant, but Maura's money could buy you your children. Wait here is another one, you fake your death but you don't trust me enough to tell me. Answer me Jane!!!
Jane rolled her shoulders, cracked her neck and took another sip of beer. Setting the bottle down on the table next to the grill, she clears her throat, looking from Frankie to Korsak to Maura, she starts to speak. Frankie, just for your information I was asked by the Governor, Mayor, Cavanaugh, and BPD to return and I was also given your position, since you were out on leave because of your inability to do your job, you weren't doing an awesome job, you were fucking up cases, evidence, and other things. Jane you are a fucking liar. Korsak was on his feet, interrupting Frankie, he tell him to one a minute, that what Jane was saying was the truth, that not only was Jane contacted by those people, that he was also contacted and was told that Frankie was incompatible of performing the job. Maura said the same thing, and finally Nina spoke tell Frankie that there she had heard several people saying the same thing. Frankie just stood there. Jane spoke up again, Frankie you must understand and hear what I am saying, because I will not repeat it again. Maura and i were married 2 days after arriving in Paris, we decided it was important that we focused on our marriage, enjoy being together, and to be honest with you, it is my life, and while I live here in Boston before I always put the whole family happiness before my own, and I decide that it was time to out me first. Ma, Pop, Tommy, TJ and you drained me, made me unhappy and miserable. You want to know what hurt me the most, after my apartment burned, you came whining to me about a meeting that Ma, Maura and you had, that Ma was moving in with you and that you didn't want that because you was a man. I had just lost everything I owned and you were being the same old selfish, whiny little brother as you have always been. You became a cop, so even at work you were always there, running to me about all the problems Pops, Ma, Tommy and yours, it was exhausting. Maura's money has nothing to do with anything, and those kids are mine. The comments about not making it at the FBI, about men and about the baby that we lost, is uncalled for. As for faking my death, not trusting you look at how you are acting, like a total fucking jackass. You have no idea how to treat me with respect at the station, around other co workers, you are constantly making jokes, talking about me and the list goes on. To be honest with you the only reason you still have a job, is because of me, the great Jane Rizzoli. Now you need to listen to Korsak, and Nina, they know more then you know. And apologize to my wife, she doesn't deserve the comments that you have made about her and our children, or disrespect that you have shown her and our kids. Now if you excuse me, I have to grill and I want to enjoy this beautiful day. Frankie, Nina and Korsak went off to the other side of the pool to talk. Maura had finish feeding Susie, and Ava Grace was sleeping in Kiki's lap, the other kids were having a great time in the pool.
After feeding a very hungry crew of kids, who was now all bathed, dressed in pajamas, and camped out in the living room, watching movies. The adults were still sitting outside, Maura had fixed Jane and herself a plate, Korsak and KiKi had their's plates, and Nina and Frankie had their plates. Frankie was glaring at Jane, not knowing exactly what to say. Maura was sitting next to Jane, whispering in her ear to eat and to relax. Finally Korsak spoke to break the silence, Frankie I think you need to apologize to Jane, she was put in a position that she did not ask to be put in, she was protecting you, and just so you know she called in a couple big favors to keep you on the force, so you need to lost the attitude that you have towards her. You are right about one thing, that is she is one of the most decorated homicide detectives in Boston, and she is the great Jane Rizzoli-Isles and don't you forget it. Nina spoke to him next, Frankie I love you, you need to understand that I heard a week before Maura and Jane returned to Boston, that you would not listen to anyone, when they try to help you, you shut them down. I have watched you over the years since Jane has returned, and you have been a asshole to her, talking about her behind her back, making jokes about her, but the whole time that woman has protected you ass and job. You need to stop trying to be something you are not, just be yourself the Frankie I fell in love with, who idolized his big sister and treated people with respect. Maura finally spoke Frankie you are like a brother to me, but I will not stand for you to continually disrespect, hurt, or upset my wife. Never let me ever hear of you making disrespectful, rude, or ugly comments about Jane not being able to fuck a man, or about our child she miscarried, or about our children not being hers, do I make myself clear. Just so you know both Tommy and you try, but you never had a chance because there is one Rizzoli that means the world to me, Jane Clementine Rizzoli-Isles, she is my world. Jane says Frankie, you are my brother and you will always be. You need to work on yourself and then maybe we can work on our relationship.
The patio, grill, pool, kitchen and living room was cleaned. The older kids was all watching movies and some had fall asleep in the living room. Frankie had apologized to Jane and Maura, and promised to work on the issues he had, his family left around 6 pm. Korsak and KiKi left around 6:30 p m. Jane was in the pool playing with Susie and Ava Grace, since they had really played in it earlier, Maura was sitting in a lounge chair sipping wine and watching them splashing and playing. The last few months had been rough for the Rizzoli-Isles family and Maura was still worried about Jane. She was still recovering from the poison, and she still got tired easy, she never complained, but Maura knew it was still effecting her. She smiled as she watched her Jane, to her she was the most beautiful woman, and she could tell Jane was working out, by the way her body was fit and muscular. She took another sip of wine, and the ringing of her cellphone caught her attention.
As she answered it, Dr Isles. The voice on the other end ask her if she had a sister named Catilyn Martin?
