Hello again, alright so this chapter includes mentions/references to past rape/non-con and abuse, heavy mentions and depictions of blood and injuries, non-sexual nudity and touching of privates, and self deprecation. As always take care of yourselves and thank you for reading.
"Almost there, Virgil. You'll be home soon," Roman said, kissing the top of his head as Logan reached through the wooden planks to turn the doorknob and push the door open.
Virgil couldn't bring himself to reply. His throat hurt, his head felt foggy, there was no point in speaking. Roman frowned a bit at Virgil's lack of response, rubbing his back gently as he looked over to where Patton was crawling through their little opening.
"Logan, can you give me a hand with Virgil?" Roman asked, nodding to the hole they'd need to get the unresponsive male through.
Logan looked over, his brow softening ever so slightly with sadness.
"Let me go through first and I can help him through from the other side," Logan replied.
Virgil's head fell deeper into Roman's shoulder. He shouldn't have to make the others take care of him. He could do all of this himself, he was just being selfish by letting them go out of their way like this. He was such a burden to them.
"Alright, here we go. Sorry, mi amor, you'll have to move a bit on your own, okay? I know you can do it, we're right here," Roman whispered soothingly as he nuzzled the top of his head and placed Virgil's feet back onto the ground.
Virgil reluctantly let go of Roman's neck and turned so that Roman could guide him down to grab into Logan's outstretched hands. Virgil took hold of him and followed Logan's gentle pull as he crawled under the wood. Logan then pulled him back up onto his feet, one of his hands gently brushing back Virgil's messy banges. Virgil looked away, unable to embrace Logan's warmth and love immediately, not after what he had done.
Roman crawled through after Virgil and Remy, who had been trying to ask Patton what happened, dropped his coffee cup to the ground. Roman's white colored clothes made it much easier to see the bloodstains as opposed to the dark gray hoodie Virgil wore.
"Damn Girl, I'm guessing that whole 'don't get caught' thing didn't work out, what happened?" Remy said, walking over quickly.
"A lot," Roman replied, closing the door to block out the commotion still going on downstairs. "We need to leave now before Remus goes even crazier than normal."
"Alright, I hear you loud and clear," Remy replied, not needing to be told twice to get out of the filthy room.
The room melted and shifted around them returning back to Virgil's far more normal room. Virgil's gut twisted as he looked around. This room wasn't very welcoming anymore. It wasn't his. It was just a gateway hiding everything he hated about himself and his past. He wanted it gone. There was nothing in this room he'd miss.
"Wanna go…" Virgil managed to mumble out despite how difficult his throat was making it for him.
The more his adrenaline faded the more pain he realized he was in. He mentally scolded himself for even thinking of his pain. This was far from the worst pain he'd been in, he'd hidden so much worse, he shouldn't be acting like such a child right now. He was a capable, strong adult who has faced and defeated the biggest fears in his life. Pain should be nothing at this point.
"I believe it's for the best for all of us, evacuate this area. There is no guarantee we won't be followed," Logan said, lightly rubbing Virgil's upper arm in an attempt to sooth him.
Virgil looked down at his feet as they began to walk out, his awareness being drawn back inside of himself as he became lost within the sea of his own thoughts. He was already completely absent from the conversation when Roman had stopped to look at the open door of his room again.
"Don't suppose you're willing to help me get this gateway closed, are you Shades?" Roman asked.
Remy's lips puckered as he looked at Roman for a long moment before he eventually let out an exasperated groan.
"Fine," Remy sighed.
"Wait, Roman, I need to check your injuries first," Logan argued.
"No need to fret over me, Microsoft Nerd. I get worse injuries than these from the Dragon Witch. Focus on our sweet Shadowling first. If you're still worried you can come find me afterwards, but I promise you it's nothing bad," Roman replied with a cheeky smile.
"But Ro, you need to take care of yourself too," Patton said, his brows pinched together with worry.
"Hush now, Heart, I'm barely injured. If I was, I swear to you I wouldn't neglect myself and turn down the care of our Logical Love. For now there are more pressing matters for both him and I to deal with than the few minor scrapes and bruises I acquired," Roman insisted, tenderly kissing the top of Patton's head.
Logan let out a sigh, temporarily giving up on Roman to face Virgil.
"Virgil, are you comfortable with me looking at your injuries and treating them? It is alright to say now, although I would at least like to aid you in some way," Logan said.
Virgil blinked himself out of the daze upon hearing his name. His senses were still kind of foggy and it was hard to comprehend the words he was hearing. He wasn't entirely sure what Logan had just said. He was pretty sure it was something about Logan wanting him to show his injuries. Virgil didn't have much complaint, three out of the four people here had already seen him naked at one point or another, hell, Patton had seen him naked while he was being raped, there wasn't much he had left to hide.
Virgil turned away from all of them and unzipped his hoodie, shrugging it off his shoulders so it could slip off and onto the ground. The loose fabric tugged at his skin slightly as it ripped away from where the dried blood had plastered it to his injuries. He wasn't that badly injured, he'd just taken a lot of damage to his back. The word Deceit had carved down his spine, the claw marks along his hips and waist, the puncture wounds from Rage's claws in his shoulder, and the bruising along his upper back from where Remus had dropped him this morning. The other sides in the hall gaped at the sight of his nearly naked form, caked in dried blood and discolored by bruises. They collectively winced when they saw the bloodstains on the loose white boxer shorts Virgil wore, after Patton's description of what had happened the night before, they knew exactly where that blood had come from.
When Virgil reached to remove his boxers as well Logan quickly stopped him, grabbing his wrist gently.
"Why don't we go to my bathroom so you have a bit of privacy while I wash off all of this blood, okay?" Logan said, speaking softly to ensure Virgil wouldn't think that he had done something wrong.
Virgil blinked up at him with dull eyes before looking back down the hallway towards Logan's room and nodding. Logan placed his arm around Virgil in a sideways hug to sink out to his bathroom, but paused for a moment. Logan glanced back and saw Roman wrap his arms around Patton who looked like he was on the verge of breaking down sobbing. Logan wanted to stop and comfort him but had to force the thought out of his mind. He was much better suited for physical injury than mental ones. He had to stick with what he was most needed for and trust Roman would be able to take care of Patton.
Logan sunk himself and Virgil down into the bathroom in his room. He looked at the thick band of leather around Virgil's throat and his brow furrowed slightly.
"Would you like me to take the collar off?" Logan asked, his hand lightly touching the clasp on the back without actually making a move to undo it yet.
Virgil gave a hesitant nod and Logan didn't waste a second removing the foul item. The second it was off of Virgil's neck he vanished it from their existence, hoping with all his might that neither he nor Virgil would have to see it again. He then looked at Virgil's throat which was rubbed raw and was heavily bruising, specifically in the front of his neck. It was no wonder Virgil's voice sounded so much weaker and hoarser than normal.
Logan would see to making him some soothing tea later. For now he would focus on checking over all of the injuries for anything serious. As awful as Virgil's back looked there was luckily nothing serious, these injuries were nothing compared to the ones he had been forced to treat last time. The difference between a day with the dark sides and a week with the dark sides he supposed. Every injury he could see, besides the fresh punctures on Virgil's shoulder which were just now starting to slow, had stopped bleeding. There was only one place Logan still hadn't seen.
"Virgil, you absolutely by no means have to agree, this is entirely up to you, but would you like me to check anus to insure that the bleeding has stopped. Again, no pressure, this is simply what you are comfortable with," Logan insisted.
Virgil turned his back to Logan and his tail shifted away, up to his chest where he held it with both hands.
"It's fine," Virgil muttered, his shoulders reasonably tense.
"Tell me if you change your mind, I will snap your clothing back on in a second. I want you to be as comfortable as possible. If nothing is wrong this should only take a few seconds," Logan promised as he cautiously moved his hands to the top of the boxers.
He watched Virgil's reactions carefully as he gently removed the article of clothing, afraid he might accidentally trigger a flashback or panic attack for the traumatized boy. Luckily he managed to get them down and Virgil was taking measures to keep his breathing calm. He directed his focus at the dried blood staining his rear.
"Alright Virgil, I'm going to be taking a look, if I do anything that makes you feel uncomfortable just tell me and I will stop," Logan swore again as he knelt down to have a better look.
He sighed at himself as a rather upsetting thought came to mind that he'd seen Virgil like this twice and both times it was because he was checking to make sure he wouldn't have to stitch anything back together. He tried to ignore that fact as he gently pulled the blood crusted cheeks away from each other so he could find the source of all this blood. He wasn't sure whether or not to be glad the dark sides had had at least some decency to clean him, seeing as though there was no sign of sperm left. All of the blood seemed to have dried up already but he wanted to be sure first. He summoned a wet washcloth into his hand and gave Virgil a brief warning that this might be a bit cold. He gently dabbed away the blood so he wouldn't break any possible scabs along the rim. Scabs were exactly what he found, as he suspected the rim had been torn open again but luckily it seemed to have already scabbed over, the only thing they had to worry about was Virgil straining while using the restroom, causing the rim to pull open again. Now he just had one more thing to check. He carefully pulled open the rim of his anus to look inside. Virgil let out a shaky whine when Logan did, so, having seen no fresh blood inside, Logan immediately backed off and stood up.
"You did wonderfully, Darling, I'm proud of you. All the bleeding has stopped down there. If you take the fiber supplements again you'll make a speedy recovery," Logan said before pressing a soft kiss to Virgil's temple. "Now would you rather have a quick sponge bath to get off the remaining blood, or would you prefer to relax in an actual bath?"
"Bath please?" Virgil requested, looking a bit sheepish for choosing that option.
"Of course. Go ahead and make yourself comfortable while I fill the tub," Logan
Virgil plopped down onto the toilet while he waited, his bare legs pressed together tightly and his tail falling into his lap to cover up his exposed privates. Logan avoided looking over at him to ease his discomfort, he instead focused on filling the tub with comfortably warm water. Once it was full he turned off the tap and added a few drops of lavender oil.
"Virgil, your bath is ready," Logan said, turning back to him.
Virgil gave no response, he was looking down at the floor, his eyes a bit unfocused. He could see the low position of his ears signalling he was either upset, deeply in thought, or likely both.
"Virgil?" Logan asked a little louder as he stepped closer in hopes of drawing his attention.
Virgil jumped slightly and looked up at the source of movement near him. Logan lowered himself submissively in an attempt to reassure Virgil he wasn't in any danger.
"The bath is ready, would you like some help getting in?" Logan asked softly.
Virgil let out a soft thoughtful hum as his ears pricked. His hands rubbed absently at his thighs as he gave a shy nod. Logan gave him a warm smile as he stood up. He reached down his hands to help Virgil up and led him to the bath where he let Virgil use him as leverage to step in. Once in, he lowered himself into a seated position and let out an airy sigh of relief.
"Does the water feel alright, Darling? Is there anything I can do to make you more comfortable?" He paused a moment to let Virgil shake his head. "Do you think you can lean over the foot of the tub a little so I can clean off your back?"
Virgil moved as he was asked to, leaning with his chest against the foot of the tub, his back up out of the water so Logan could easily reach it. Logan took the washcloth he had used earlier in his hand and began dabbing off the dried blood again, careful not to disturb the scabs. As the blood came away he was greeted with the message they had left on his skin this time. Written vertically along his spine were the words "Dark side". Logan felt himself frowning, he hated the idea of Virgil being marked with yet another deceitful label. He just had to hope the scars would fade quickly, though he knew there were all too many scars that ran far deeper than the skin.
Once the skin was clean he grabbed for the shampoo and conditioner.
"Alright, go ahead and sit however you're comfortable," Logan instructed.
Virgil flipped himself over and fell deeper into the water so it was coming up well over his chest while his head leaned back over the rim. He seemed rather comfortable and content in the warm water, like he was going to fall asleep.
Logan moved up towards his head and after pouring a good sized dollop of shampoo into his hand he began to gently massage Virgil's scalp, carefully working it into the fur of his sensitive ears. Virgil let out a tired sigh as he relaxed into the gentle touches, allowing Logan to pamper him.
"Are you tired? You shouldn't fall asleep in the bath, if you want I can hurry up so you can go take a nap," Logan hummed calmly.
Virgil stiffened a little, his cheeks reddening. He wanted to continue letting Logan pamper him but Logan had much better things to be doing. Roman had been injured too and Patton had been so quiet, that couldn't be a good sign. He was a dark side who had just gone and caused them so much trouble today. He had done such awful things today, he didn't deserve to be pampered, but it still felt so nice. It was like the pets from Patton but different at the same time, it felt good. He'd been feeling nothing but pain and ick all day all day and now he was getting something so nice, gentle and warm. He didn't want it to end. But he shouldn't be wasting Logan's time like some child. Logan had already finished checking his injuries. He couldn't possibly keep him here even longer.
Logan didn't miss the conflicted, thoughtful daze that crossed Virgil's face. He rubbed Virgil's ear the way Patton had shown them Virgil liked with one hand while the other continued to rub in the shampoo.
"You are wearing that expression you always do when you are overthinking things. Would you like to talk through it?" Logan asked calmly.
"Y-you've already finished treating my injuries…" Virgil muttered.
"I said I would take care of you, that includes getting you to relax and feel comfortable. I know I cannot take away even a fractional amount of what you must be feeling inside, but I want to do whatever I can to remind you are loved by everyone here and we will take care of you, however we can," Logan replied calmly.
Logan twisted a little and his elbow knocked the bottle of shampoo onto the ground with a loud clatter. Virgil jerked away from Logan as he tensed up, looking around for any sign of danger.
"Shh, it's alright Virgil. That was just me. I dropped a bottle. It's fine we are both safe," Logan promised in a calm and quiet tone.
Virgil seemed to relax a little until the door handle slowly turned. Logan immediately jumped up putting himself between Virgil and the door. After the painfully slow turn of the handle it was thrown open and the figure raised his choice of weapon up over his head ready to strike.
"Oh, wait, hi Logan," Thomas said sheepishly, lowering the thick, hardcover textbook in his hands.
Logan let out a relieved sigh as he rubbed the bridge of his nose.
"Thomas, why were you prepared to bludgeon me with one of my own textbooks?" Logan asked.
"I woke up to a loud crash and I was alone and so I got afraid that there was someone in the bathroom. I just grabbed for the first heavy object I saw," Thomas shrugged. "But if I was afraid of the sound, does that mean Virgil is okay?"
Logan let out a slight chuckle at his host's excitement. He then stepped aside so Thomas could see the male in the bathtub who had ducked under the water already to get all of the suds out of his hair. Thomas practically lit up with joy upon seeing Virgil.
"Yo. Thomas, what are you doing here?" Virgil asked, doing his best to keep his voice normal despite the pain.
"I took a nap in Logan's room so they could find someone? I don't really get it, but I just woke up," Thomas replied.
"Of course he'd forget to make you wake up naturally instead of allowing you to take a five hour nap in the middle of the day. Your sleep schedule will be completely upset," Logan sighed. "Thomas, you need to go back and get something to eat. Then… I suppose you might as well continue taking the day off. We could all use as little stress as possible."
"But I want to make sure everyone is okay," Thomas complained.
Logan sighed, he didn't want him to get much closer to Virgil and see the injuries on his back for Virgil's sake but he also didn't have the heart to deny his host either.
"Alright, the others should be in Virgil's room. If you could, tell them I will be cooking some pizza tonight after I have taken care of Virgil and that they should think about something fun we could all participate in tonight," Logan replied. "Also tell Roman I want him down in the kitchen while the pizzas are in the oven so I can take care of those injuries of his."
Thomas pouted a little at the comment, obviously wanting to spend time with Virgil. He understood Logan was trying to take care of Virgil but he was worried too.
"Virge, are you going to be okay, buddy?" Thomas asked worriedly, at least wanting to have that answered before he went off to find the others.
"I'm fine Thomas. Nothing I can't deal with," Virgil replied.
"I'm glad and I'm glad to have you back," Thomas said with a small smile.
Thomas turned to walk away, glancing back at Virgil worriedly before actually leaving.
"Wait, is it okay for Thomas to leave, Remy is still here," Virgil asked nervously.
"He's good at hiding. Trust me, Thomas won't notice him unless he wants to reveal himself. Now what do you say about getting you all dried off, into a soft onesie and moving downstairs for pizza, pillow forts, cuddles, and lighthearted films?" Logan suggested.
Virgil snorted.
"You sound like Princy," he hummed.
"I've been informed these things are quite comforting. I felt it would help aid you to become more relaxed," Logan replied.
Virgil let out a breath, his eyes softening with emotion.
"Thanks Lo. I'm- I'm sorry for everything," Virgil said, looking down again, his eyes burning with tears.
"There is absolutely nothing to be sorry about," Logan replied immediately, wrapping his arms carefully to hug Virgil without hurting his back.
Virgil buried his already wet face into Logan's shirt hoping that he wouldn't realize there was extra wetness coming from his eyes. He'd messed up so much within the past twenty four hours, he couldn't understand how anyone could still love a mess like him. But still, he was so happy to be back home.
A/N: Alright theory time, spoiler warnings if you haven't seen the newest episode. But okay, I'm I the only one convinced that Virgil's name isn't Virgil? I've seen two people on the internet say the same thing but there isn't much about it and I don't know if that is just because it's obvious or what. It's just every fact seems to be pointing to that, Patton pointing out Virgil's name didn't match theirs and it didn't match Remus's either and now we know Deceit is Janus so we know the dark sides match. On top of that both Remus and Janus mention something involving Virgil's name when they are first introduced. Plus I always just found the line where Virgil says his nickname is Virge to sound a little awkward, which could have been intentional if that wasn't how he was used to introducing himself. Anyways now that we know what Virgil's name should end it we can theorize what it might be. I thought for a bit that is might be like Deimos or Phobos to be like a god of fear or something. But There really isn't any reason that I can logically come up with for him to change that to Virgil of all things. I did some research on the most famous Virgil, the Roman Poet and found two possible names that could be his. Firstly, Virgil had a best friend who finished Virgil's final manuscript and had it published after Virgil's untimely death. His name was Lucius Varius Rufus otherwise known as Varius. I dabbled a bit with the thought that it might be his name because taking the more famous writer's name could be symbolic of him trying to step out of the shadows and be more important to Thomas. It is a bit of a stretch but I like the idea. However the more likely name comes from Virgil the poet's full name Publius Vergilius Maro. Virgil could just be a nickname for Vergilius but when he tried to cut himself off from the dark sides he made Virgil is full name so he wouldn't have the "Us" that labeled him as a dark side. It was his way of breaking free from them. I don't know, this is just my theory. It's probably something people already noticed and thought was obvious but I've been thinking this for so long and the last video confirmed it for me so I just wanted to say something about it. IDK, if anyone else has theories about this or anything else in the sanders sides fandom, I'd love to hear them down in the comments. Thanks again to everyone reading my story, I hope you have a wonderful day.
