(A/N: I own nothing and read last chapter.)

"Sister…" Smoothie looked concerned as she looked at her big sister after she and a few others had returned from Marineford. Mama had sent them there under orders to make sure that Luffy made it out alive. She wanted to meet her new son-in-law after all and he proved to be very interesting.

The fact that saving Ace put Whitebeard in their debt was a bonus, a very good one.

That and the looks on the Marine's faces when they realized that Big Mom pirates were interested in the apparent rookie…yeah a few of the Charlotte siblings were going to be laughing for a while.

"Is he…" Amande asked paling at the look on her sisters face and Smoothie put a hand on her older sisters shoulder softly.

"We don't know but it didn't look good. He took a fist full of magma to his gut while protecting his brother. When we left he was with a couple of doctors." Smoothie said gently but bluntly to her sister. Amande didn't need it to be sugar coated. She needed the facts and blunt truth.

"Fire Fist Ace managed to get out alive along with most of the Whitebeard crew and alliance, Whitebeard however didn't make it. He stayed behind to let his crew escape and said that the One Piece is real." Daifuku said while Amande was pale and seemed a bit wide eyed as she held Jordan close, Linlin and Caramel being cuddled by Mondee and Compote respectively.

"There's a very real chance that your crazy husband is…I'm sorry nee-san." Smoothie apologized to her sister who shook slightly but closed her eyes tightly to fight back her tears. Her husband, her king… At least last time even though he lost his big brother he had only gotten a scar on his chest that wasn't dangerous before going on his…on the crew's two year training trip.

"Two years." Amande said softly as she opened her eyes and held her son closer.

"Nee-san?" Smoothie asked confused and making Amande sigh heavily.

"I'll give it two years, then I'll head to Saobody again and find out for sure whether he's really…gone or not." Amande said and what was unsaid was the fact that she'd be spending those two years taking care of her children and training her own skills as well.

"Nee-san." Smoothie seemed sad as if she knew her sister was clinging onto false hope.

"Your husband is dead. Accept it and move on." Daifuku said coldly to his sister who glared darkly at him.

"My husband is strong enough to defeat you with ease Dai-oni-san. He would not die that easily. He would not die and leave me and the children behind." Amande said her voice soft but stern. She fully believed it. Her husband was alive. He had to be. He had promised and he never broke a promise to her.

"Mommy! Look! Aunty Hatchee helped me get a sword!" Pixie came rushing over with a bamboo sword held proudly in her hands and her aunt right behind her.

"I see that baby. Did you tell your aunt Hatchee thank you?" Amande asked smiling down at her daughter who nodded her head rapidly.

"She hasn't stopped saying thank you or hugging me ever since I gave it to her." Hatchee said with a snort and Amande smiled softly as she dropped one hand to her daughters head, running her fingers through her daughters curls while her other hand kept Jordan held close to her chest.

"That's a good girl…Pixie…we're going to be staying here with your aunties, uncles and grandma for a while okay? Daddy got hurt saving Uncle Ace so we'll staying here till he gets all better." Amande said softly to her daughter who nodded her head at that.

"Okay mommy! I'm gonna get lots stronger for when we meet daddy again!" Pixie said smiling brightly at that and making Amande smile down at her daughter.

"I know you will baby…but don't forget. Daddy's really strong so you don't need to be too strong. Besides…I'll be counting on your help with your brother and sisters." Amande said making Pixie beam at that and hold her arms out to take Jordan from her mother.

"Remember how I showed you to hold him." Amande said sitting down in the chair at the table and sitting her daughter in her lap as she adjusted her arms slightly until they were good enough.

"Don't drop him sweetheart." Amande said gently settling Jordan in his sisters arms and making Pixie beam as she held her little brother close.

"I won't mama! Hi Jordan…remember me? I'm your big sister…don't worry I won't drop you." Pixie said brightly and then began to talk to her little brother in her arms while he gurgled and gave a gummy smile.

"Mama he's not talking…he's being rude!" Pixie said and Amande laughed lightly as she took Caramel from her sister.

"Baby he's too little to talk. He won't be talking for another few months. He's not being rude, he just doesn't know how yet." Amande said amused as she looked at her eldest who blinked up at her like that and then gave a grin that was just like her fathers.

"Then I'll teach him mama! Just wait Jordan! When we go see daddy again you'll be able to say lots of words!" Pixie said brightly to her little brother and Amande just smiled as she held Caramel close while keeping Pixie on her lap.

"She doesn't doubt that her father is alive does she?" Mondee questioned quietly while Daifuku gave a derisive snort.

"She's a child and Amande is being too soft. She'll find out the truth soon enough." Daifuku said sneering at how one of his strongest and eldest sisters was acting.

Amande just reached her free arm out for Linlin and kept all of her children close.

'Luffy…please be alright. The kids need you…I need you.'

In two years she'd find out one way or the other.
