The small group exited the TARDIS and back out onto Roald Dahl Plass.

"Should take another twenty-four hours, which means we've got time to kill," the Doctor told the group as he grabbed Aries hand. He frowned internally as she seemed to stiffen again at the contact. It had been the third time he had noticed her do that and it worried him as to why she did.

Rose noticed the Doctor grabbing Aries hand and frowned as she looked away. Every time she's here, he only has eyes for her, she thought bitterly. She had tried to get his attention ever since leaving Aries behind during the Blitz, which she still hadn't figured out how the red head was there, but the Doctor had just ignored her.

Mickey looked around the area before them and noticed something, "That old lady's staring."

The rest of the group looked in the same direction and noticed that there was an old lady staring at them.

Jack grinned, "Probably wondering what five people could do inside a small wooden box," he commented.

"What are you captain of, the Innuendo Squad?" Mickey asked the man.

Jack made a W with his hands to Mickey before he started to walk away. The others begun to follow, but Mickeys voice stopped them.

"Wait, the TARDIS, we can't just leave it. Doesn't it get noticed?" he asked the Doctor.

Jack frowned as he turned back, "Yeah, what's with the police box? Why does it look like that?" he questioned.

"It's called a chameleon circuit," Aries spoke up, earning a glare from rose and a surprised look from the Doctor and Mickey. Jack, however, was not surprised she'd know. "From what I can recall, the TARDIS is meant to disguise itself wherever it lands. Like if this was Ancient Rome, it'd be a statue on a plinth or something. From what I was told, the Doctor landed in the 1960's and it disguised itself as a police box, and the circuit got stuck."

"How do you know that?" Rose asked angrily. Every time Aries was around, it was as if the woman always wanted to be the centre of attention and Rose was getting very annoyed by it.

Aries frowned, "I just said someone told me," she said before looking to the Doctor when he squeezed her hand.

"Who told you that?" he asked curiously. Not many people knew that the circuit was broken, let alone it happened when he was in the 1960's.

"Ah, yes," Aries scratched the back of her neck, "Actually, it was one of your old companions, Sarah Jane," she told him, "She's a good friend of mine."

The Doctor's face seemed conflicted for a moment before he smiled, "Sarah Jane Smith, how's she going these days?" he asked.

Rose, Mickey and Jack watched the pair with varying expressions.

"She's doing great. She's still investigating as well," Aries told him with a small smile, seeing how delighted he looked that a former companion of his was doing well. Her grin grew a little as she continued, "She wasn't very happy with where you dropped her off, however."

The Doctor's face fell a little at her words about dropping Sarah off, but it was replaced by confusion when he realised what she had said. "Where was it?" he asked.

Aries raised an eyebrow, "Aberdeen."

The Doctor winced. "Oh," he muttered, earning a slight chuckle from Aries, which brought his own smile back at the sound of it.

"Who's Sarah?" Rose asked angrily as jealously bubbled away in her gut.

The Doctor looked to Rose with a frown as he stepped in front of Aries instinctively at the blondes tone, a move that didn't go unnoticed by Jack who raised an eyebrow in surprise.

"So it copied the real thing?" Mickey cut in, hoping to break the tension that Rose's words brought, "There actually was police boxes?"

The Doctor continued to frown at Rose for a moment longer before turning to Mickey, "Yeah, on street corners," he told the younger man, "Phone for help before they had radios and mobiles. If they arrested someone, they shove them inside till help came, like a little prison cell."

"Why don't you just fix the circuit?" Jack asked, still watching Aries and the Doctor. The Doctor still hadn't moved from blocking Aries from Rose's view and he was curious to know why. Aries was someone Jack was afraid of, and with good reason, though he did like the red head. He also knew that she could handle herself.

"I like it, don't you?" the Doctor asked.

"I love it," Rose said as she patted the box, only to jerk her hand away from it when it shocked her.

The Doctor noticed, but didn't say anything.

"But that's what I meant," Mickey stated, "There's no police boxes anymore, so doesn't it get noticed?"

"Ricky, let me tell you something about the human race," the Doctor said as he let go of Aries hand and stepped towards Mickey, "You put a mysterious blue box slap bang in the middle of town, what do they do?" before Mickey could say anything, he continued, resting his hands on the man's shoulders, "Walk past it. Now, stop your nagging. Let's go explore," he said as he dropped his hands from Mickey's shoulders and stepped back to Aries and grabbed her hand, feeling her once again stiffen and relax at the contact. It made him wonder if it was something she didn't even know she was doing.

Aries looked to the Doctor, "So what's the plan?" she asked.

"I don't know. Cardiff, early twenty-first century and the wind's coming from the east. Trust me. Safest place in the universe," the Doctor said with a grin as he squeezed her hand. Even if I have to make it safe, he thought, remembering what happened the last time they had met.

"Can we go somewhere to eat?" Aries asked, "I'm feeling rather hungry."

The Doctor smiled, "Sure thing. Let's get some food," he agreed before leading her towards a cafe.

"So, how'd you meet Sarah?" the Doctor asked Aries as they sat at a table at a cafe sharing a plate of chips.

"It was actually here in Cardiff," Aries said as she took a chip, "She was investigating the rift and reported sightings of Weevils in the area. I was here studying the rift, trying to work out if the radiation it was leaking was as harmless as I had been informed. When I had met her, I didn't know she knew about aliens, so it came as a surprise when she mentioned the Weevils."

The Doctor grinned as he ate a chip. He couldn't help but feel proud to hear that Sarah was still investigating. He was also glad that Aries and Sarah seemed to get along well. "How long ago was this?" he questioned curiously.

Aries frowned slightly as she looked down to the table. She knew the question was going to come up, just as she knew he wanted to know how she had been in London during the Blitz. She ran a finger over the back of her hand as she remembered that day, the day her life had changed.

The Doctor reached over the table and grabbed her hand, causing Aries to jump in surprise as she looked up to him. He offered her a small smile, "I'm sorry. I'm just curious. If you don't want to tell me, that's okay. I'm not going to force you to." Of course he was curious to know how she was there, but he would never force her to. He hoped that she would tell him when she was ready.

Aries looked to their joint hands, "In all honesty, I have no idea," she said as she looked back to the Doctor. It wasn't technically a lie. "I woke up one day in 1898 in a house that I found out later had been left for me that had a bookcase full of books that weren't from the time period and a note left for me that told me where I was."

The Doctor's eyebrows flew up in surprise at her words before they furrowed, "You mentioned you read some books in Downing Street. They were the books, weren't they?"

Aries nodded, "They're all on advance technology and alien lifeforms."

"That's how you knew that the Slitheen were from Raxacoricofallapatorius?" the Doctor questioned. Aries nodded. "How did you know they weren't from that time period?" he asked. He understood now how she knew so much about aliens. Between Sarah, UNIT and a bookcase full of advance technology and alien lifeforms, she'd be considered an expert. Which also answered why she was in Downing Street.

"I know that they were because as far as I've been told, I was born on the 13th of October, 1980," Aries told him.

The Doctor furrowed his brows, rather unsure what to make of that information. "You were displaced in time," he said, rather unsure as to how she could have been, "Do you know what happened?"

Aries looked down at the chips as she grabbed a few, "I'm not quite sure. All I remember is-"

She was cut off as Mickey shouted, "I knew we should've turned left!" from the table near them, causing her to flinch.

The Doctor squeezed Aries hand, gaining her attention, "If you're okay with it, I wanna help you figure out what happened. You don't have to try and do this alone. I'm here if you need me, okay?"

Aries looked at the Doctor and the unknown feeling in her gut returned when she saw the sincerity of his words in his eyes. She nodded slightly as she squeezed his hand, "Thank you," she murmured.

The Doctor grinned before it fell and he stood up, letting go of Aries hand.

Aries furrowed her brows as she watched him snatch a newspaper off a man at the next table.

"And we were having such a nice day," he told a rather confused Aries before showing her the newspaper. Her eyebrows furrowed as she read it.

On the front page of the Western Mail, there was a picture of Margret the Slitheen stating that she was the new Mayor of Cardiff.

After showing the other three the newspaper, they all made their way to City Hall.

Along the way, Aries noticed Rose glaring at her and furrowed her brows in confusion. She didn't know why the blonde was glaring at her, but before she could ask what Rose's problem was, the Doctor stepped up beside her and blocking her view of the blonde.

"You okay?" the Doctor asked Aries, even though he had seen the dirty look Rose had been shooting his Nesdra. He really did think that he needed to speak to his companion about her behaviour towards Aries.

Aries looked to the Doctor with a frown, "I don't think Rose likes me very much," she turned her head towards City Hall as they approached it, "But I don't know why," she let out a sigh before glancing back to the Doctor, "Have I said or done something to her, cause I really don't know."

The Doctor blinked at Aries in surprise, unsure how she didn't notice that the looks she was receiving from Rose was because the blonde was jealous. As he looked at her confused and frustrated face, however, the Doctor realised that she probably didn't even know why Rose would be, so had no reason to connect the look with jealousy.

Offering her a grin as he took her hand, "I'm not sure, but I'll have a talk with her about it, ok," he told her.

"She's got no idea," Jack whispered to Mickey as they followed the other three, both men having watched the interaction.

Mickey shook his head, "You have no idea," he muttered as he remembered all the times Aries just seemed to ignore anyone trying to hit on her while they had been out. He found it quite funny that she was so oblivious about it, since some of the guys had made it very clear on what their intentions were.

When they finally entered the foyer of City Hall, Jack looked to his vortex manipulator as the others joined him.

"According to intelligence," Jack glanced at Aries, "The target is the last surviving member of the Slitheen family, a criminal sect from the planet Raxacoricofallapatorius, masquerading as a human being, zipped inside a skin suit. Okay, plan of attack, we assume a basic fifty-seven-fifty-six strategy, covering all available exits on the ground floor. Doctor and Aries, you go face to face. That'll designate Exit One, I'll cover Exit Two. Rose, you Exit Three. Mickey Smith, you take Exit Four. Have you got that?"

"Excuse me," the Doctor said, frowning at Jack, "Who's in charge?"

Jack smirked as he faced Aries, "Sorry. Awaiting orders, Ma'am ," he said, almost daring her to say something.

Aries frowned at Jack, starting to realise that he knew who she was. "I don't think he meant me, Captain," she told him, her tone holding a warning.

"Right," the Doctor said as he frowned at their interaction, "Here's the plan," he paused when everyone looked at him, which caused him to grin, "Like he said. Nice plan. Anything else?"

"Yeah," Aries spoke up, "I'm going to go with Mickey."

The Doctor's grin fell at her words and he turned to her, "Are you sure?" he questioned, rather wanting her to go with him.

Aries nodded, "We've all had experience with aliens, but Mickey really hasn't had much to do with them. I think it'd be wise to have someone go with him."

The Doctor frowned. He could admit that it was a good idea to have someone go with Mickey, but he'd prefer if someone else did. It deepened when he realised that if someone else went with Mickey, it still meant that Aries wasn't with him as she'd have to cover their exit. He scowled at Mickey, causing the man's eyes to widen in surprise.

Jack raised an eyebrow at the look on the Doctor's face before his jaw dropped. It couldn't be, he thought as he looked between Aries and the Doctor. He had heard about Time Lords and the bond they create when they find their soulmate, but he had thought it to be only a rumour. But the signs were there. The protectiveness, jealousy and the fact that the Doctor always wanted to be close to her.

Jack shook his head as he got back to the task at hand, "She's right, Doctor."

The Doctor glared at Jack, who only raised an amused eyebrow. He scowled and looked away, realising that Jack would be the one to figure out why he was not liking this plan. He hadn't seen Aries in months and all he wanted was for her to be with him. But she doesn't even know about the bond, he thought as his brows furrowed. No, he wasn't liking this at all.

"Present arms," Jack said.

They all pulled out their phones except Aries since she didn't have their numbers.

The Doctor shot Mickey one more glare when Aries moved to stand beside the young man, "Ready."

"Ready," Rose said.

Mickey swallowed as he said, "Ready." Sure, he knew that he had thought the Doctor liked Aries, but the glares he was getting from the man seemed like he wanted to kill him just for being close to Aries. Protective much, he thought before swallowing again when he noticed the Doctor staring at him again. He couldn't help but wonder if the Time Lord could read minds.

"Ready," Jack said as he fought down a smile as he watched the Doctor staring at Mickey, "Speed dial?"

"Yup," the Doctor said, breaking his gaze from Mickey as he pressed a button on the phone.

"Ready," Rose repeated, wondering why everyone was acting odd.

"Check," Aries said as she took the phone off Mickey and pressed a button.

"See you in hell," Jack told them. He gave one last glance at the Doctor before he moved off, only to see the man stopping Aries and Mickey. Oh, this is going to be fun, he thought as he quickly moved off.

Aries frowned when the Doctor stopped her and Mickey from heading off. "Everything okay?" she asked him, wondering why he seemed troubled.

The Doctor nodded, even though he was feeling far from okay. Glancing at Mickey, he spoke up, "Yeah, I'm fine. Just make sure you stay safe, okay."

Aries continued to frown but agreed, "I will. You be careful as well."

The Doctor managed a small smile, "I will be," he said before surprising Aries when he pulled her into a quick hug, feeling her stiffen in surprise before she hesitantly hugged him back.

Aries was even more surprised when she felt him kissed her forehead. She felt that unknown feeling return in her gut as she inhaled the Doctors scent, once again getting the smell of her amortentia before the Doctor let go and headed off. She blinked for a moment, before turning to Mickey, only to find him looking at the Doctor's retreating form with a look of fear on his face. "You okay, Mickey?" she asked, rather concerned as to why the man seemed frightened.

Mickey's head snapped to look at Aries. He swallowed as he nodded, "Yeah, everything's fine. Why wouldn't it be?" he said rather quickly. He glanced back to where the Doctor had headed before shaking his head, trying to get the death glare that the Doctor had shot him from his mind. If looks could kill, Mickey was feeling rather like the Doctor would kill him and then travel back in time to kill him again. "Come on," he said as he moved to where they needed to go.

Aries frowned, but followed after the man. She was rather confused as to what was happening right now and that unfamiliar feeling still hadn't disappeared.
