Chapter 22: Cosmos Part 5
Now that Cosmos has gained back her true form. She is now free to reign Chaos, and is using the princesses, Zecora, Big Mac, and Cozy Glow to do it. Every creature is shocked to see the giant being of Chaos in front of her. She has one on each of her back glittering shoes, two on her cuffs. One on a tiara, and the other three around her neck on a gold necklace.
"Whoa! That's your mom, Screwball?!"Apple Bloom asks.
"She… she's huge!" Scootaloo adds.
Cosmos then has her eyes on Discord and Screwball, and says with an evil smile, "Hello darling, and my little Cotton Candy."
Discord becomes scared and says, "New plan! REGROUP!"
With a snap of his fingers, Discord makes everyone disappear and reappear behind a large house. Cosmos then breaks fire all over the place.
Then calls out, "Discord, come out, come out, wherever you are! I knew you'd come back for me, and bring our daughter with you!"
"You know Screwball, your mom is even crazier than your dad. Maybe even destructive," Smolder says.
Rarity panics, "How are we supposed to defeat her when she's got all those ponies…? What? In her. As part of her? What is happening? Why is she so big? What is happening?"
Applejack covers Rarity's mouth, "Shhh. She'll hear you."
Then Sandbar turns to Discord and asks, "Discord, who is that crazy monster and why is she looking for you and Screwball?"
"Well, you see, this being is Cosmos and she's actually Discord's wife and Screwball's mom," Fluttershy says.
"And a long time ago, Discord had her imprisoned when she went completely out of control when Discord brought her to Equestria, but she wasn't always like that. Anyway, Discord along with the other rulers, including the princesses have Cosmos imprisoned and became the constellation everypony's been wondering for years. And was knocked down by a comet. Discord found one and kept it hidden all these years," Sun says.
"And now that all the pieces are brought back together. Cosmos used them to fuse with the others to create that. I think what we have to do is get those gems off the armor and destroy them and everything should go back to normal… friends saved, buildings back to bricks… probably. I think," Discord adds.
"Probably, you think?! What have you all been doing while we were on that train?!" Rainbow asks in a panic.
"It has been a long story," Fluttershy says.
"And I promise to act it out for you with sock puppets and props if we do it while we're leaving!" Discord says.
"Now way. This is my first real giant monster assignment, and I'm not bailing!" Scootaloo says.
"Yeah, ah say that we're going to have to step in. All the princesses are captives, and we're the only ones here who knows what's going on," Applejack says.
"I have no idea what's going on!" Rarity panics.
Suddenly, Cosmos bellows, "Discord, you are trying my patience."
Then sweetly says, "Screwy, mommy is looking for you."
"Other than Discord's wife has gone ballistic," Gallus says.
Discord nervously says, "Say, about that leaving idea… the notion of the tropic had come up…"
"No way daddy! We're not leaving," Screwball says.
"Yeah! We're going to save our friends and save Equestria… it's what we do at the end of every adventure we have," Pinkie says.
"So the gems are the targets. We can take them out," Applejack says.
"And then what?" Rainbow asks.
Fluttershy says, "Well, when the gems were apart, Cosmos couldn't fully form, right? She was just controlling other ponies."
"And she didn't have those star gem thingies originally. I think whatever Celestia did to lock her away separated her magic into those eight parts," Discord says.
"So maybe she can't control her power any longer without them. We need to get to the gems and then destroy them. If they contain all her magic… No gems, Nos Cosmos." Fluttersahy says.
"I told you we should have blown one up," Discord says.
"Get the gems, got it. But how do we get rid of them?" Apple Bloom asks.
"It took the combined magic of six powerful beings and the Element of Harmony to stop her. The princesses locked her away in the sky…. But we don't have the Elements of Harmony anymore, and we don't even have a princ…" Discord says.
But stops and turns to see Sun on his back, "Oh yeah, we do have a princess."
"And we do have a dragon," Rarity adds, pointing her hoof to Spike.
"Huh?" Spike says, confused.
Then Rarity asks, "Spike, dear, are you hungry?"
"Always. Have you met me?" Spike eagerly answers.
Then Rainbow asks, "Okay, who has a plan?"
"Ooh. I do. Pick me," Pinkie calls out.
"I would like it on record that I would prefer if Applejack came up with a plan," Sweetie Belle says.
"I second that," Apple Bloom adds.
"Third. Your plans always involve mascot suits or buckets of frosting," Applejack adds.
But Pinkie cheerfully says, "No, I got this. Team up."
Then points to Applejack, "Back Legs."
Then points to Rarity and Rainbow, "Chest plate."
"Head," Pinkie says, points to Sun, Discord, Screwball, and Fluttershy.
"You mean the helmet?" Fluttershy asks.
Sandbar and the others, "You, me and Team Llama had the font legs."
"Oh by the name of all that's holy, she's teaming up with the llama," Pinkie says.
"At least you're not on the same team as it," Sandbar says.
"And me?" Spike asks.
Pinkie turns to Spike and Smolder as she puts bibs on them, "Ground patrol. You follow behind and get ready for some take out."
"Yes!" Spike cheers.
"Well, looks like we're going to have some lunch huh, Spike," Smolder says.
"You said it," Spike says.
"Well, let's talk about attack formation…" Applejack says.
"Nope. That's no fighting Chaos with Chaos! Let's just go!" Pinkie says.
"What? Pinkie. No" Rarity yelps.
"Did I mention the tropic?" Discord worriedly says.
"Discord, you gotta face her soon enough, you and Screwball," Sun says.
Then Pinkie says, "I'm in command. I could order this."
"You're not in command," Applejack says.
"But I'm not… because Discord is right in pointing out the enormous dangerous potential in any contact with life and intelligence as fantastically advanced as this. But I must point out that the possibilities for knowledge and advancement are equally great. Risk. Risk is our business," Pinkie says.
"Right, so…" Rarity says.
Pinkie continues, "Aye. Fight and you may suffer. Run, and you'll live… at least a while, and lying in your beds many years from now would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that or one chance. Just one chance. To come back here and tell our enemies that they may take our lives but they'll never take… our freedom."
"Is she done?" Discord asks.
"Wait for it," Sun and Fluttershy say, rolling their eyes.
"We will not go quietly into the night! We will not vanish without a fight! We're going to live on! We're going to survive today and celebrate our independence day!" Pinkie says.
"Oh captain. My captain," Apple Bloom says, amazed.
"I have no idea what she's talking about, but it's cool," Scootaloo says.
"Well, her plan is inside, but the spell sells it," Rainbow says.
"You can say that again," Gallus says.
"Yona likes Pink one's speech," Yona happily says.
Suddenly, the house begins to be lifted from the ground, making Applejack panic, "We're out of time to come up with anything else, anyway."
Every creature looks up in shock, seeing Cosmos holding the house and has her eyes heart on Discord.
Cosmos happily says with an evil tone, "Darling!"
The next moment Pinkie throws the llama without them looking.
"Wow… Cosmos must be really into you," Sun mutters.
"Yeah. She's how do I put it, 'crazy for me,'" Discord replies.
Then Cosmos says, "Sweetness, come here and see what I've done for us!"
Cosmos then shows Discord three chaotic like thrones, one is green, one on the left is black, and the one on the right is purple. The next moment, the llama toy hits Cosmos's tiara, but doesn't seem to phase.
Rainbow grits her teeth to Pinkie, "Pinkie, if we live through this, we're going to have a long talk about what you just did."
Pinkie then hurries over, "Can't hear you! Rushing towards ganger to save the day!"
Then the others follow.
"Oh yes, let's run toward the giant monster in a blind panic and see what happens," Rarity calls out in fright.
"That's the plan!" Pinkie says.
Rarity screams, "I was being sarcastic."
Soon, everyone begins to attack Cosmos at once. Sun and Fluttershy use their new wings to attack Cosmos while Discord and Screwball try the crown from above. On the ground floor, Pinkie and the students hurry to the back legs.
Pinkie calls out, "Team Llama go."
Pinkie jumps up and snatches one of the gems.
Pinkie pulls it off as she shouts, "Hey Spike, Smolder have a snack!"
She rips the gem from the gold cuff and tosses to Spike. Spike then begins to break it apart and eats one half while Smolder eats the other one.
Spike says, "Ack. Spicy!"
Cosmos screams in anger as some of her powers are disappearing. At the same time, it's going to be an inch closer. At the same time, Rose Glow and the others are able to pull the other cuff off of Cosmos' other puff and pass it to Smolder. Soon, the dragons begin to eat the gem.
Applejack takes one leg and shouts to Apple Bloom, "I'll take the right, you take the left there!"
"Is that my left or her left? That's like stage left, right?" Apple Bloom asks.
"Gah! Just take the one I don't!" Applejack shouts.
The other crusaders jump on the leg Applejack isn't on and try to take the gems off. Suddenly, Cosmos uses her magic to cast a spell on Pinkie Pie, and turns her into a toy pony. Applejack is able to kick the gem off and it's been tossed to Spike.
Applejack exclaims, "Sweet mother of Applesauce."
Applejack runs over as the Crusaders take the gem off of her other shoe.
Sweetie Belle screams, "Don't forget Llama!"
"No pony left behind!" Scootaloo adds.
"Gah. I can't believe I'm doing this," Applejack panics.
She hurries and snatches the two toys away.
Spike continues to eat the gem and says, "Ooh! This one has a nice hint of oak!"
"Bon Apple-teeth!" Apple Bloom says, dropping the gem to Spike.
"I don't think you're saying that right, "Sweetie Belle says.
Cosmos says with a smirk on her face, "Impudent bugs. Enjoy your new lids as a pony carousel for my baby girl."
Suddenly, Cosmos transforms Applejack and the Crusaders into ponies on a carousel ride.
Rainbow flies to Cosmos' necklace with Rarity on her.
"Ready?" Rainbow asks.
"Absolutely not, but drop me anyway," Rarity says.
Rainbow then drops Rarity and she dives to the necklace.
Rarity screams, "My hair!"
Rarity then uses her magic along with her own strength to take off the three gems from Cosmos' neck.
She angrily says, "I told you a prong setting was the worse choice!"
Soon, Rarity is able to take the gems off and she begins to fall.
Spike screams, "Rarity!"
Rainbow then zips in and catches Rarity in her hooves. Suddenly, Cosmos transforms Rarity and Rainbow into fishes. As all this is going on, Sun, Fluttershy, Screwball and Discord are trying to reach the forehead.
"Oh ho. Discord, I have to go help them," Fluttershy says.
"Don't worry Fluttershy, we'll handle Cosmos," Sun says.
Discord snaps his fingers to make a fish bowl appear and asks, "Are you sure about this? I… I don't know if I can face her."
"Everything you've learned has led to this moment. You've got this. You're so brave. I'm so proud of you," Fluttershy says.
"She's right. I know that both you and Screwball can do this," Sun says.
"Right," Discord and Screwball answer.
Discord passes Fluttershy the fishbowl and says, "Be careful."
Fluttershu takes the fishbowl and flies down to rescue Rainbow and Rarity. Discord, Screwball, and Sun continue to climb on Cosmos' head Until Discord falls on Cosmos' muzzle.
Seeing Discord, Cosmos asks, "Darling, what do you and your motley little crest think you're doing?"
Discord gulps a little and has her stern face.
Then says, "Cosmos… this is it for you. You're done. Put everything back the way it was, or I'm going to have to destroy this last piece of you. Please."
"Oh, dearest, I knew you cared. I watched you, you know. From the stars. I watched you looking up at the sky to me… you can't hurt me," Cosmos says.
"I… I was looking at the sky because I… I was um, terrified and worried. You were out of control and I didn't want you back to give everyone more trouble… You were making me miserable when you went ballistic," Discord says.
"No… you adore me," Cosmos says, with hearts in her eyes.
"Cosmos! I went to Celestia and Luna and begged them to lock you away because you were out of control, and you wanted Screwball to follow your inside tactic!" Discord says.
"Because you didn't have the heart to do it yourself. Admit it, we're two sides of the same coin! You can't hurt me. You care about me. You're my hubby, dubby." Cosmos says.
Screwball sticks her tongue out, "Mom! Yuck!"
Sun stands on Cosmos' muzzle, "Cosmos, all of this has to stop! Do you really think this is what Discord and Screwball wanted!"
"She's right. I did care for you and the truth is… I still do. But you went out of control of wanting to speak Chaos, you never cared of what I wanted anymore, or what is best for our daughter! You ended up using me! You ended up not caring for anyone, but spreading Chaos! You will put everyone back the way they were before you came back! They're my friends as much as you are!" Discord angrily says.
Cosmos and Discord are now facing each other and the female being of Chaos is looking sad as Sun flies off with Screwball in her arms. Cosmos begins to shed tears and soon she begins to become furious that she begins to fire at anything in sight.
Screwball screams "Look out!"
Sandbar and the others quickly dodge out of the way. However, Fluttershy is able to catch Rainbow and Rarity in the bowl and land on the ground. Sadly,the magic that Cosmos fires hits Fluttershy and turns her into a statue.
Discord and Sun scream, "Fluttershy!"
And then the blast is aiming right towards Sun and Screwball. Sun quickly pushes Screwball out of the way and the magic has turned her into a real Breezie and Spike into a dog.
Spike groans, "Again."
Sun flies around in her new Breezie body.
Then says in a high pitch voice, "Wow! I'm a real Breezie, and my voice sounds funny too."
Sun looks up and notices something, "Screwball? Are you okay?"
Screwball has her head lowered and she is not pleased with all that is happening. Screwball holds out her left hoof and brings out a big mallet. She then enlarges her own body to be close to her mother's size. Then stands behind her mother, Cosmos in pure anger. Cosmos looks around and becomes startled to see Screwball around her size. And the next moment, Screwball swings her hammer and strikes Cosmos on her head, and makes the gem stone shatter when the mallet strikes Cosmos' head. Cosmos has birds spinning around her head and falls to the ground, unconscious. When Cosmos is knocked out, she is reverted back to her original form. Everyone else stands in front of Screwball and is still large, looking shocked and dumbfounded.
"Wow… I never seen Screwball that mad before," Sandbar says.
Sun says in the squeaky voice, "I have."
"I have too. Her anger is actually almost as scary as her mother's" Discord says.
Suddenly, Zecora, Cozy Glow, Big Mac, and all five princesses fall off of Cosmos as she reverts back to her original self, and feel confused and dizzy.
"Wha-what happened?" Twilight asks.
"Why does my head hurt?" Cozy Glow asks.
"Cozy," Rose Glow cheers and jumps on her sister as she wraps her hooves around her.
"Hi Rosy, what happened?" Cozy Glow replies.
"You might want to ask Cosmos… Discord's wife and uh, mother," Gallus replies.
Then Yona says, "And ask Chaotic pony too."
"You mean Screwball?" Twilight asks.
Then becomes confused, "Wait… Screwball's mom… and did you say… DISCORD'S WIFE?!"
Sun flies over and still a Breezie, "Yes Twilight… and yes, I'm a Breezie. It's been a very very long day."
"You'll have to catch us all on what we missed," Celestia says.
Soon, Cosmos begins to wake up as she groans and rubs her head to feel a big bad bump on it.
Discord walks to Cosmos with a worried look, "Cosmos?"
"Di-Discord?" Cosmos asks.
She rubs her head and asks, "Wha-what happened?"
"Uh, you might want to ask our child," Discord says, sounding nervous.
"Our child?" Cosmos asks.
Discord presents his hand to Cosmos and she looks up to see a calm yet sad smile. Cosmos takes his hand and he helps lift her up. They both turn their heads to see Discord is still gigantic and is holding the mallet in her hooves with a furious look on her face.
"Mother… we need to talk! And you need to change everything back to normal!" Screwball angrily yells.
Discord and Cosmos nervously gulps in reply.
And Discord whispers to Cosmos, "You know, she's almost as scary as you are."
"And you think my anger is bad," Cosmos nervously replied.
Then Screwball angrily says, "First, change Fluttershy and Sun back to their normal selves."
Cosmos nervously says, "Um, okay darling."
Cosmos then snaps her fingers and the two mares are back to their normal selves. Sun is no longer a Breezie, and Fluttershy is no longer a statue or a butterfly.
Fluttershy and Sun say, "Thank you."
Screwball then changes back to her original form and says, "Alright, mom, we need to have a talk. I want you to listen to me and daddy. Also, Sun and Fluttershy will help explain it."
"About what?" Cosmos asks.
"About the mess you did," Sun says.
"Why are you getting upset. I was just spreading Chaos. Discord and I'm sure Screwball love to spread Chaos as much as I do," Cosmos says.
"We know. Discord told us that you love to spread Chaos as much as they do. The problem is that you didn't seem to have enough of it, and become destructive," Fluttershy says.
"And nearly tear the time and space of all Equestria. Not to mention almost put every creature living in this world endangered," Discord says.
"Why do you act like spreading Chaos is a bad thing?" Cosmos asks.
Screwball walks over to her mom and says with sadness, "Mommy, there's nothing wrong with spreading Chaos. You know, getting wacky, crazy, and even doesn't make sense. It's just… you got way carried away."
"I… I guess so," Cosmos says, sounding remorseful.
"You guess so…" Sun sternly says.
She then angrily says, "You nearly tore Equestria thousands of years ago and now, took over the princesses and our friends to create a powerful body, went crazy to get to be with Discord and Screwball, and attacked and altered their friends!"
Cosmos looks down to see the mess she has created and the scared looks on those who haven't been altered. They all look worried and scared. Then she looks at the mess she has created around her.
"I… I did all this?" Cosmos asks, looking shocked and regretful.
"I'm afraid so," Fluttershy says.
"Yeah. Discord told us everything. And yet, despite how much you scared him, I'll bet he still loves you. Why else he watches you every night, not just he's worried that you'll come back, but because he can't stand for you to be away from him," Sun says.
Shocked, Discord asks, "How do you know?"
"I guess it's the fact that I lived with yours and Screwball's human counterpart so I know these things," Sun says.
"Not only that. Discord wiped out all the ponies memories of you to protect you from anyone who wants to use you. He even made sure all the blame that has been done to Equestria goes to him. He put up being hated by ponies and decided to separate himself from Screwball to live with Eris to protect you both," Fluttershy says.
Shocked, Cosmos asks, "What? Discord, is this true?!"
"It's true. And they're right about everything. Despite how insane you got, despite how much you scared me… I… I still loved you. Even though my fear says that it hoped that you will never return… deep in my heart… it longs that you and I can be a family again. I guess, no matter how long it was, no matter how much I've changed, I really love you and Screwball and hope that we can live happily again," Discord says.
Screwball hugs her mom with tears from her eyes, "Me too. Please mom, no more creating destructive Chaos, let's just be a family again. I… I never got to see you since I was a baby. I really want us to be a family again."
Cosmos is shocked to see how much Discord and Screwball are being kind to her, despite what happened. Then again, she feels something within her that she really wants to be a family with them again. She then realizes that everything she has done, ended up making herself and her family miserable. Cosmos soon begins to cry as tears come down like a waterfall.
Discord hugs Cosmos and says, "It's okay dear, it's okay. I'm just glad you see it now.
"I know. I am so so sorry, dear," Cosmos says in tears, hugging Discord and then Screwball.
She then snuggles Screwball and says, "Screwball, I am so sorry. So so sorry."
Sun and Fluttershy watch with sad smiles to see Cosmos is starting to see the errors of her ways. The others see this and not an eye from them are dry. The Chaotic family hug them with smiles on their faces.
Cosmos smiles as she happily sighs and says, "I… I want us to be a happy family again."
Suddenly, powerful light waves from the three surround the area and change everything back to their original state. Soon enough, all of the ponies, creatures, and more are back to their original stage.
Pinkie looks up to see her toy on her head, "My plan worked! Go Team Llama!"
"No more Pinkie Pie Plans. Never again. I was a fish!" Rainbow angrily says, soaked and wet.
Rarity shakes the water off of her and her mane is at her original stage.
Rarity says, "A goldfish is hardly a normal fish. We were very decorative," Rarity says.
She then notices Spike and Smolder looking sick as the purple dragon is back to her original stage.
"Spike, Smolder, dears, walk around a bit. You just ate your weight in carts. You'll get heart burns if you lie down," Rarity says.
The two dragons nod their heads in reply.
Sun and Fluttershy walk over to see the Chaotic family stop their embrace and turn to see them.
"You did it Discord," Fluttershy happily says.
"You did too, Screwball," Sun says.
"We did it," Screwball happily says.
"We all did… my friends…" Discord happily says.
"Yes, you all did. And I'm sorry for what I did to you two. I got a little jealous that you both were wirth Discord and Screwball when I wasn't," Cosmos says, feeling guilty.
"It's okay. I'm glad that we can be friends now," Sun says.
"And it seems you learned a valuable lesson… more like a few lessons," Fluttershy says.
Cosmos nods her head, "Indeed. I guess when you're friends and family, you can't always have things your way all the time."
Later on in Canterlot Castle, Twilight and her friends, sun, Big Mack, Zecora, the Crusaders, and the group of friends from the Friendship School receive medals in honor for their heroism. Capper, Discord, and Fluttershy receive them as well. Cosmos stands a short distance and closer to her family at the same time.
Celestia says, "I'm really glad you were able to tell us the whole story, Discord. I do apologize for what happened."
"But still, Cosmos. You still need to make up for your actions. We're glad that you've seen the errors of your ways, but you will need to pay for your actions," Luna adds.
Cosmos says, "I understand. I promise to make up for everything that I've done. Not just to all of Equestria, but to my family."
"We're glad that you learned a lesson and are willing to help make up for your mistakes," Celestia says.
Suddenly Twilight walks over to the couple and says, "Now, Discord, what's the approximate date Cosmos was originally hurtled into space? Why do you think her magic was split into eight pieces?"
"Maybe give them some time to process before all the questions?" Fluttershy suggests, pushing Twilight away.
Twilight whines, "But I need to know. I missed out on the whole adventure because I was possessed by Cosmos. It's not fair. I need to interview all of you for my notes!"
Cosmos blinks her eyes, "Uh, is she always this well."
"Crazy for education? Yes, you'll get used to it," Discord answers.
Pinkie then comes Twilight, "You can talk to Discord later. I'll go first! It all started with this llama!"
"And don't forget to write down that I'm the real hero. Those gems gave me indigestion," Spike says.
Cosmos giggles, "Well, it looks like I'll actually have an interesting time with your group of friends, right Dizzy."
"Cosmos! Don't use that pet name in front of my friends," Discord panics, feeling embarrassed.
Sun and Fluttershy giggle with glee.
Screwball hugs her mom and dad, "Who cares. I'm glad to have both my mommy and daddy back, and I'm sure Aunt Eris will be glad too."
"You can say that again," Discord says.
"Me too," Cosmos says.
The three chaotic beings hug each other again. Everything turns into a wild adventure, but in the end, the Magic of Friendship and Family is able to not only beat Cosmos, but help Cosmos change for the better. What's more, Discord, Screwball, and Cosmos are a happy family again.
