Chapter 23: Statewide Manhunt (SVU Crossover, part 2)

Short time after the call to Real Time Crime, a command post was set at the 54th Precinct in Manhattan, everyone was present. FBI, New York State Police and the Port Authority Police Department was there.

"EVERYONE, SHUSH." The 54's Precinct CO yelled and continued "OUR SUSPECT IS ALEX WITHMOUR, HE'S INVOLVED IN COLLEGE CAMPUS MURDERS AT NYU, DETECTIVES REAGAN AND BAEZ WILL GIVE SPECIFICS ABOUT THE KILLINGS, DETECTIVES." And he gestured to talk.

"Alex Withmour, he has murdered 4 girls that were enrolled in NYU 1 every 2 years. Since the last victim was in 2018, he's gonna hit again and we are afraid that he may go on a spree." Baez concluded their part.

"SVU is here to give specifics about his character, Captain Benson." The CO gestured for SVU to talk.

"He's charming, intelligent and also a sociopath meaning he doesn't care about the harm he causes or about his own safety this makes him highly dangerous. From what we can tell, he is approaching his victims by being the friendly teacher." Benson finished.

"Alright thank you SVU. Please wear your vests and also if you see him call for a 10-85." The CO concluded the briefing.

"Hey, Reagan!" Carisi yelled.

"What's up?" Danny answered.

"We got a hit on a traffic cam. He was seen crossing the Union City bridge." Carisi said, giving him the tablet with the traffic camera footage.

"Oh no, we are going to be screwed." Danny said with a sigh.

"Why?" Carisi asked with a confused look.

"He's heading up to the Teterboro Airport." Danny said.

"I'll alert TSA and local PD." Carisi said as he ran to the nearest phone

"BAEZ!" Danny yelled.

"YEAH?" Baez yelled back.

"He's heading to teterboro." Danny said.

"Alright, let's go." And they both got to the bottom floor and went into the car.

"I haven't slept in 24 hours." Baez said as Danny started the engine up.

"I know babe, but it's your case maybe you shouldn't of picked it?" Danny asked as he gave her a small kiss on the cheek.

"Maybe, but it's worth it. Let's go catch this psycho." Baez said and Danny backed out of their parking spot and headed off to the Airport.

Time passed and they arrive at the airport, it was crawling with cops from the local PD, NYPD, FBI and also the New York0 State Police, they went inside and started searching the gates and stopping passenges as well is grounding planes.

"Alright, thank you sir." Danny said to a civilian he asked an ID and he gave it back.

"Isn't that him?" Rollins pointed a man out.

"I think that's him." Baez said.

"Danny, 12 o clock." Baez said and Danny looked at the way they were looking at.

"HEY, POLICE." Baez yelled and the individual ran, and they ran after him.

"STOP, NYPD." Danny yelled and then Carisi just comes out infront of the suspect, hits him in the face, twisting his arm behind his back and kicked his leg to get him on his knees and then he cuffed him.
"Nice." Danny said.

"Thanks but it's not him." Carisi turned around the suspect showing him to the others.

"Damn it. Why were you runnin?" Rollins asked.

"Because, I am on parole and I stole a wallet…" The guy said and Baez gestured to two troopers to come.

"Take him away." Baez said.

"Yes, Ma'am." One of the NYSPTroopers said and they both grabbed him and left the airport to go to their patrol car outside

"So he's not here, and we got nada. Great." Danny said as he stormed off and all of them got back in their vehicles and now went to the 16th Precinct.

When they arrived, they went upstairs and started looking at properties he or his family has and nearby security and traffic cameras. After a while, Danny saw that Withmour's now deceased grandfather has a cabin in Harriman State Park.

"Hey I got something!" Danny said outloud and everyone on the manhunt looked at him.

"Harriman State Park, his grandpa has a cabin over there." Danny said.

"That's alot of land to cover." Baez said.

"Yeah, but I learnt from a close family friend of the Withmours that the cabin is north of a Lake or Beach starting with a W." Danny answered.

"You mean Lake Weich Beach?" Carisi asked.

"Yeah! That's the one!" Danny said with a high tone.

"I know where the cabin is, I used to hike around there, let's go." Carisi said and all of them went to the park, they arrived there and met with State Troopers, NYPD K9, FBI, Local PD and the Harriman's Park Rangers and got up to the cabin.

When they approached, Withmour spotted them and started shooting at them and yelled.
"I GOT A HOSTAGE, I'LL KILL HER IF YOU COME ANY CLOSER."

"Baez, call State Police SERT.." Danny said quietly and then he yelled at Withmour
"YOU'RE SURROUNDED, ALEX. COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP AND WE ARE NOT GONNA HURT YOU."

"I AM NOT GONNA FALL FOR THAT, I GOT A HOSTAGE GET BACK." Withmour yelled back.

"OKAY, EITHER YOU COME OUTSIDE OR WE GO IN HOW ABOUT THAT?" Danny yelled.

"I WANT A CAR OR SOMETHING TO GET OUTTA HERE, NOW." Withmour yelled back.

"OKAY, WE'LL TRY TO GET THAT." Danny also yelled back.

"We need some tear gas, anyone has one?" Danny asked quietly.

"I have 2 in my bag at the car." The K9 handler said.

"Can you go get them?" Danny asked.

"Yeah sure, let's go Argo." The K9 handler said and the K9 officer let out a "Woof!"

"Thanks." Danny said, he waited and then the K9 handler came back with the tear gas and gave them to Danny.

"Thanks again, alright. Me and Carisi we will go up to the cabin and throw the tear gas in. K9, FBI and NYSP along with Baez and Rollins be on standby to take him down. Let's do this people." Danny said.

Carisi and Danny sneakily moved, up and saw Withmour pacing around and there was no hostage inside the cabin, therefore they broke the window, Withmour turned and was met by Danny and Carisi throwing the tear gas in, quickly the smoke expanded in the cabin and within' 3 minutes Withmour started coughing and got out with the gun, then he was met with officers from NYPD, Rollins, Baez, Park Rangers, K9, SERT with guns drawn.

"PUT THE GUN DOWN, WE ARE GONNA SEND THE DOG!" The K9 handler said and Argo started barking.

"PUT THE GUN DOWN!" Baez yelled and Withmour was coughing and walking all over the place feeling dizzy. Then, the K9 handler releases Argo, he goes full sprint on the hand his gun was, bites him therefore he dropped the gun and got him on the ground then Baez, Carisi and Rollins moved in with 3 Troopers running behind them, and Baez cuffed Withmour.

"You're under arrest. Take this piece of shit away." Baez told the troopers and they obliged.

After the booking process was done at the Manhattan Central Booking, night came and everyone went for drinks except Baez cause she was sleepy and went back to the house.

At the bar, Danny and Carisi sat together while Rollins went on the other side of the bar and Carisi kept looking at her.

"Carisi." Danny said, no response and continued "Carisi." Danny asked again.

"Yeah, what's up?" Carisi looked at Danny and back at Rollins.

"Why do you keep looking at Rollins?" Danny asked as he smirks.

"It's not like that okay? We are partners." Carisi answered, taking a sip from his beer.

"Oh cmon, look at me and Baez we are together for almost a year and we also live in the same house, you gotta make a move." Danny said.

"Didn't knew that, but I'll take your advise under consideration, Reagan." Carisi said and Danny finished his beer.

"I am going back home. It's been nice working with you, stay safe." Danny said and he left some cash to pay for his and Carisi's beer.

"Could you let the Commissioner know how a good Detective I was today?" Carisi said with sarcasm.

"You wish, have a good night." Danny said with a laugh.

"You too." Carisi said and Danny went outside to his car and drove off back to his house and parked at the driveaway.

As he went inside, he saw Baez asleep on the couch, snooring so he carried her up to the bedroom and tucked her and himself into bed so they slept.
