Note: This episode had my all time favorite Langer moment. Which is why this chapter is so special.

You put the beautiful in life

You put the beautiful in life

From the ending of a Hallmark movie, Ms Matched

Once upon a time, a long time ago. There were 2 ex spies named Henrietta Lange (or as she liked to be called, Hetty.) and Owen Granger. They worked together for years at the CIA, catching bad guys, saving each other's lives, before both eventually leaving and Hetty joined NCIS.

As for whether or not they had feelings for each other, it was highly rumored, but never proven to be true or false.

Now, they were both in charge of a team of special agents who basically save the world. It had been a crazy 2 years since Granger had arrived.

It had taken some time, and a few life or death situations, but they had both looked to be as close as they were back in the CIA.

Is it possible that that huge rumor from so long ago, is about to be proven true?

We shall see.

At the office

Christmas was just a few days away, the office had been decorated, the party had been held, and the agents were heading off to have a great holiday season.

Hetty was thinking that was going to spend the holidays alone. Because she knew Christmas wasn't exactly Granger's favorite holiday.

'Nah, maybe I'll just drop by and see him. And offer him to spend the day with me.' She thought.

Then he walked in.

She was definitely surprised to see him.

They talked, and shared each other's drink. (okay, basically shared spit.)

Then Hetty asked: 'Would, you like to spend Christmas with me?'

He responded: 'That would be very lovely.'

'There is a heart inside of you'.

She was right.

And it was telling him that he felt something for Hetty, every time he thought of her, every time he looked at her. Especially after these past few months, spending more time with her, Her being there for him when he had almost been killed by the mole.

He had feelings for her, He had those feelings all those years ago when they were in the CIA. He was going to tell her, and then she almost killed him, (completely by accident!). And then those feelings vanished.

He had previously thought those feelings were gone for good. And then, for the past 2 years, he had observed how she ran her team, how she treated the agents, and how they treated her.

And had been amazed at, and had loved it all.

They treated and thought of her like their own mother (and were obviously afraid of her at the same time.), she thought of and treated them like her own children.

And then Granger remembered something Hetty had told him a long time ago:

That one of her biggest wishes was to have a family.

He could see that she truly had a family.

And in it's own way, he was a part of it too.

Now, he wanted to more then just a part, he wanted to be the man she loved. The man who would care for her when she was down and when she needed it.

He wanted to tell her her loved her.

He just needed to know how to do it.

They spent Christmas together at Hetty's beautiful Dovecote home.

They mostly just talked, drank eggnog, watched old movies.

'It has to be the right moment.' Granger thought when he was trying to think of how to tell Hetty how he felt about her. And the right moment didn't come that day.

'Would you like to spend New Year's Eve with me? We'll be together when the clock strikes midnight!' Hetty said.

'Yes, yes that would be great!'

'This is perfect! Couples always kiss at midnight, this is the golden opportunity!' he thought.

New Year's eve, 3 minutes to midnight

'This has really been some year!' Hetty said.

'Yes it has', Granger responded.

'I really like how you've changed this year! You've really come around as a team player, and I really like it.'

'Glad you like it.'

'Thank you. 2 years ago, when you came here, I thought you had changed for the worse. But, I kept telling myself that with time, You would warm up to my team. And now you have. I feel like, you're the man I used to know back in the CIA.'

While Hetty was still talking, 10 seconds were left on the clock.

5, 4, 3, 2, 1,

He bent down, and kissed her, full on the lips.

'Happy New Year, Henrietta.'

Silence.

'Uhhh, Happy, New Year, Owen.'

Hetty was way too stunned to say anything else.

'Should auld aquientence be forgot, and never brought to mind'

End note: This was actually kind of tricky to write! This was a special episode, and I wanted this to be a very special chapter. And I think I got it! Hope you really enjoyed this one! (I have quite the romantic mind when I want it!)
