This chapter is inspired by Iron man 3, and a western movie I watched.

I messed up, but Oatclaw is really the father of Berrydot, Flintlash, and Spikenose, but Mosspath is pretending to be the father and mate.

Enjoy! (and sorry about the confusion)

Chapter 23

Dandelionstream couldn't find Berrydot. She had looked high and low, but her kit was nowhere to be seen. After asking around, she finally found her dozing in her Mini-cave.

"Hey! We gotta go!" Dandelionstream said loudly.

Berrydot jumped, looking guilty. "Mother...I'm not going."

Dandelionstream starred. "What?"

Berrydot sighed. "I'm staying here. I don't know, it just seems so much like a clan, but without any judgment or other clans. Please, Mother. You have to understand."

Dandelionstream blinked, not understanding. "But, darling, I thought you Loved the clans!"

Berrydot shook her head. "I do, Mother! But...well, there are other places to live! You have to trust me."

Dandelionstream closed her eyes. "You do understand, if you stay here, you will never see me or the clans again."

Berrydot nodded. "But, maybe when you come back from saving the clans, you can come and visit."

Dandelionstream rubbed her pelt against her daughters. "Maybe, but your Brothers and Father would want you to explain, not me."

Berrydot nodded, and Mother and Daughter walked beside each other for the last time.

Berrydot's POV

Berrydot didn't know why she wanted to stay. She couldn't explain it to herself. So she doubted she could explain it to her Brothers and Father. But here she was. "I love you so much, but this is my home now." She meowed to there shocked faces. "I am sorry, but I will see you again. Don't worry." But Berrydot knew she would only see her family one last time. When they left, Berrydot went back inside the cave. She went to the healer's cave. "Is there anything I can do to help?" She asked. Pear glanced at her. "Ruthless needs to stay still, but he is very restless. Why don't you entertain him?" Berrydot nodded, heading over to Ruthless's mini-cave. When she got there, he let out a hiss. "Come to amuse the most useless cat ever? Don't waste your time." Even though Berrydot was usually patient, she had inherited some of Dandelionstream's temper. "Well, Exuuuse me for trying to help your poor, miserable self!" Berrydot whirled around and stalked out of the mini-cave. What an arrogant cat!

Ruthless POV

Ruthless starred after Berrydot, feeling a tinge of regret and a little admiration. Now that was a cat wouldn't stand for disrespect.

It was dinner time. Ruthless longed to go to the great hall, a large cave where useful cats ate all their meals. It was also a place to share news and gossip. But he sat here, rotting away in a den. But to Ruthless's surprise, Berrydot came back, not at all pleased.

"I stayed here, and all I get is quick, 'oh, by the way, you won't be eating with us, you will be eating with Arrogant' Some thanks!" Berrydot didn't even seem to notice him, just flung him a squirrel.

"What are you doing here, Berrydot?" He asked harshly because he had a reputation.

"It's Berry, you idiot. And I was forced to stay here. Now if you don't mind, I would like to eat my rabbit in peace!"

Ruthless shrugged and began tearing his meat into strips. Berry didn't even seem to notice him, which was perfectly fine with Ruthless. Perfectly fine!

Berry's POV

Berry was mad! First, she had been forced to eat with Arrogant, her nickname for Ruthless, now she was told she had to sleep in the same mini-cave as him.

I think they're doing it on purpose. She thought bitterly.

Berry went to her former mini-cave to grab her nest, then she hauled it to Ruthless's mini-cave. She shoved it in his mini-cave, pushing it to the corner. Ruthless gave her a startled look.

"Your cats said I had to sleep in the same mini-cave as you!" Berry snarled. "If you don't bother me, I won't bother you!"

With that, she laid in her nest and fell asleep.

Berry jerked awake. For a moment, she couldn't remember where she was. And then it all came rushing back. Berry glanced wondered what had wakened her, then she realized that Ruthless was shaking and gasping in his sleep, calling out in muffled cries.

Berry rushed over and shook him awake. Ruthless jumped up and out of his nest, before collapsing on his weak legs. Panting hard, he crawled back into his nest.

"What was that?" She asked.

Ruthless shook his head. "Just...flashbacks. Happens sometimes. Get used to it." He added a little more coldly.

Berry shook her head and went back to sleep, ignoring the slight feeling of pity.
