The next couple of days Carla and Peter lived in a love bubble. Once their baby news sank in they were both so happy and felt so lucky.
They were going to Ibiza the day after next which made them very excited and of course Haisley couldn't stop talking about it.
Carla had told Kate and Michelle her good news but told them to keep it to themselves until they were ready to tell people.
Kate was overjoyed at having another niece or nephew and Michelle was made up for her friend.
Carla had a doctors appointment before she went on holiday just to confirm everything and get matched with a midwife.
Peter was on cloud nine. This was his chance to be a proper father, to do the night feeds and change dirty nappies, really get stuck in.
The day of the holiday came meaning the family needed to be up early as they had a flight to catch.
Haisley couldn't sleep much anyway through all the excitement which meant Carla and Peter didn't get much either.
"Let's go princess" Peter told Haisley when it was time to leave.
"Yes!" she shouted. She was at the door with her teddy in hand and backpack on her back before the adults could function.
The whole airport with a child thing was new to Peter which got him thoroughly stressed. Carla laughed at him as she was used to doing it with Haisley at a much younger age. Peter wouldn't let Carla pull the cases or help out at all which put even more stress onto his shoulders.
"Would you like me to help you?" Carla asked, watching Peter sigh at the sight of his daughter running around the table whilst waiting to board the plane.
Peter just gave her a look.
"Haisley I need you to help mummy" Carla told her, she passed her a colouring book "I need you to colour me this picture whilst we wait for the plane, you can use my special pen"
Haisley stopped running to take the book off of Carla. She sat in between her parents and began clicking the colour she wanted from the 'magic pen'.
"How did you do that?" Peter huffed.
"Magic baby, magic" she winked at him.
Later it was time to board the plane. The family boarded and took their seats. Peter was a little nervous. He had never travelled with a child of his on the plane. There was always that added danger when travelling with your child.
Eventually the family had made it to Ibiza and to their villa. Peter drove the rental car straight there with no problems.
"Can I go in the pool?" Haisley asked.
"In a minute" Carla told her.
"No now" Haisley stamped her foot in a dramatic fashion.
"Haisley Connor" Carla shouted, crossing her arms, making Haisley cross her arms in response.
Peter looked at Carla, he knew her name was Connor but she had never actually used it in front of him. Maybe that was because she felt bad for calling her Connor or maybe it's because Carla didn't want to upset him. Peter knew this was a conversation they would have to have.
He wanted his children to have his last name, especially since there was now another baby on the way.
Carla gave her the Connor name as she didn't know if and when Peter could sort his life out enough to be a dad to her. So she wanted it the same as her name to make it easier to travel and easier in general to have the same name.
"Haisley don't be rude to your mother" Peter told her "we need to get everything in and then we can go in the pool"
"Ok daddy" Haisley skipped off in the direction of her bedroom.
"I hate it when you do that" Carla told him.
"Do what?"
"Be the good guy and make me the bad guy"
"I don't do that"
Carla raised her eyebrows at him.
"Ok, maybe I do that sometimes but I don't mean too"
"Mhmm" Carla teased.
A little while later the exhausted family had finished unpacking and took Haisley to the pool. They lazed around the pool until Peter left to go food shopping, leaving Carla and Haisley around the pool.
She spent most of her time in the pool with her armbands on, swimming and splashing, having a blast.
"This is the best holiday ever" Haisley told her mum.
"That's nice baby, we have only been here for a little while"
"Yes, but daddy is with us, I love my daddy"
"I know you do, daddy loves you too"
"Daddy loves you too mummy" Haisley told her.
"I know he does" Carla smiled at her daughter. She loved the way Haisley and Peter bonded. When she was first born Carla thought she wouldn't have this relationship with Peter.
When Peter returned they had a quick dinner and put Haisley to bed. She was so tired, that she was overtired and didn't want to sleep.
Once she was down Carla and Peter sat out by the pool with some non alcoholic cocktails that Peter had made with the stuff he bought from the shop.
"This is amazing" Peter said.
"Yeah you have done a good job" Carla replied, referring to the cocktails.
"No I meant this holiday, I know we have only been here for a few hours but this is what we needed"
Carla nodded in agreement.
"I love spending time as a family and can't wait for the new arrival" Peter said, gesturing towards her stomach.
The next day, the family decided to go to the beach. Haisley was again up early, she came bounding into her parents room and jumped onto the bed.
"Morning" Haisley shouted, jumping onto Peter.
"What time is it?" Carla asked, rolling over to check her phone. 6:45am "Haisley it is so early"
Haisley smiled and jumped onto Carla's legs, near missing her stomach.
"Haisley" Peter warned "be careful of mummy" he lifted her off of Carla and placed her in the middle of them both.
"It's ok Peter" Carla placed her arm onto Peter's arm.
"She needs to be careful, that's all" Peter reminded her.
"Come on, let's have a cuddle before we get up for the day" Carla told them both. She pulled Haisley in tight and tried to close her eyes.
The family had an amazing time at the beach. They bought Haisley some buckets and spades so she could keep herself occupied.
Carla and Peter hired some sunbeds so they could relax whilst taking it in turns to go in the ocean with Haisley.
Half way through the afternoon Haisley fell asleep on Peter's sunbed for a little while, as did Peter, leaving Carla to look at her family in awe.
She took out her phone to capture this moment. She was so glad she was with Peter again and that they were having another baby, but when they got home her other baby was going to be starting school and that was a scary thought for Carla.
She didn't want her baby to grow up. When she looked back to the years before she had Haisley, she never wanted children. She always dealt with the fact that she was happy without one.
But the moment they put Haisley into her arms she was utterly and completely in love with her and nothing else mattered as much as she did. Her life changed completely and if she was honest she was shocked at how much it changed.
Another baby would be amazing and this time she would have Peter by her side the whole time. When she went into labour with Haisley Peter wasn't there, she was left with just Michelle to help her through it.
Michelle was amazing but it would be lovely to have Peter by her side.
She was so busy thinking through her thoughts that she didn't notice Peter waking up.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked her.
"Nothing, just daydreaming" she lied. She knew this pregnancy would bring up conversations from the past, that they would have to talk through but their family holiday was not the place.
After some more sandcastle building and ice cream eating the family made their way home to get ready for dinner.
Carla dressed herself in a yellow crop top with a matching yellow skirt that was down to her shin in length with a split up the thigh. She then put Haisley in a matching yellow dress.
"Wow look at my girls" Peter wolf whistled.
"Take a photo of us" Carla told him, passing him her phone. Carla posed with her leg stuck out of the thigh slit, she placed Haisley on the other side of her and placed her hands on Haisley's shoulders.
Carla had basic makeup on and her hair straight whereas Haisley had her hair wavey as she had taken out her plaits.
"Beautiful" Peter said as he took the photo.
"I was thinking about doing a mummy and me collection at the factory, since Aiden is going to be a father too, I thought it was time to branch out"
"That is a fantastic idea"
Peter handed Carla her phone back so she could look at the photo "So this is just a trail run but I love that photo of us"
"She looks just like you" Peter placed a kiss onto her lips "I am so proud of you"
The family made their way to dinner, it was a lovely evening, warm and clear.
"I am having a really good time Carla" Peter told her as he sat opposite her on the table.
Haisley was next to them playing on her tablet.
Carla then told him what Haisley said yesterday in the pool "she said this was the best holiday because you are here"
"That girl melts my heart" Peter replied.
"I am so glad we came back to Weatherfield" Carla admitted.
"I am so grateful" Peter said "If you told me this time last year that I would have you both back and have another one on the way I would have asked them if they had been drinking because they were crazy"
Carla nodded and smiled at him "I know, I can't believe this is all happening but she is right Peter, this is the best holiday because we are here as a family, this is how it was supposed to be"
Peter lowered his head "I know and I can never make up for the first four years of her life"
"No but we can make the rest amazing" Carla said to him, taking his hand.
"Carla, I am really sorry I was not there for her birth, it must have been a scary time"
"It was scary but it was also the best day of my life, I had Michelle there for me, she was amazing" Carla admitted "but this time you can be there every step of the way"
Peter nodded "you try and stop me"
The family had a nice dinner, they spoke about Haisley as a baby, making Haisley very happy with the conversation. They then discussed their holiday and Haisley going to school.
On the way back to the villa, Haisley fell asleep in Peter's arms. Carla held Peter's spare hand and placed her head on his shoulder.
Once home, Peter placed Haisley into her bed. He left the room and shut the door.
He turned to Carla and placed a passionate kiss onto her lips. He pushed her up against the wall.
Carla smiled into the kiss as she knew where this was going. They both had a lovely evening and it was going to be topped off with a night of passion.
Peter picked Carla up, letting her place her legs around his waist. He walked to their bedroom and he gently placed her onto the bed.
Peter kicked the door shut leaving the couple to rekindle their passion in private.
The rest of their holiday went fantastically. Haisley had the time of her life, Carla and Peter were more loved up then ever and they made amazing memories as a family. This was one of the best time's Peter had had in a while possibly ever, only thing that would make this better was if Simon was here.
