Alex's P.O.V
I was upstairs in my room reading Rage Becomes Her: The Power of Women's Anger by Soraya Chemaly, when I heard loud music playing, I groaned and pulled the sheets off my body before speeding downstairs in my pajamas. I saw Klaus sitting in a chair with Stefan across from him. I grabbed the remote on the table in front of me and turned off the stereo.
"What the hell?" I complained to both of them. "Why the fuck are you two playing Rock and Roll?" I then looked at Klaus. "And why are you in my house?"
"I'm just enjoying Stefan, and I's stalemate," Klaus said.
"And that gives you the right to be in my house?" I declared. Klaus wore a smirk as he turned back to my brother and ignored me. I rolled my eyes at them, making my way back upstairs to my room, leaving those two to talk to each other and hopefully leave me alone.
After I closed my bedroom door, I got in my shower and washed my hair. Once I got out, I wrapped my bathrobe around me and brushed my teeth. I then did my makeup before walking over to my closet to pick out my outfit. Once I was dressed, I got a text from Stefan that read ' Left to go to get Elena, Bonnie, and Bonnie's mother. Stall Klaus. ' Good, we need another Bennett witch in Mystic Falls. I placed my phone in my pocket before turning around to go back downstairs to Klaus. But as I turned around, I screamed when I saw Klaus leaning against my door frame.
"Hello, sweetheart," Klaus said.
"How long have you been there?" I asked him, but he changed the subject as he looked around my room.
"You have a lovely room." He complimented.
"Thank you; I didn't ask for your approval. Now, how long have you be standing there?" I asked him again.
"I didn't watch you get dressed if that's what you're implying," Klaus said.
"Still not answering my actual question." I crossed my arms over my chest. "What do you want?" I asked him.
"I want to talk," Klaus replied.
"About?" I questioned. Klaus walked over to my nightstand and picked up my locket.
"Victor and Daniel. I don't trust them." Klaus answered, and I walked over to him, snatching my necklace out of his hand.
"Ok, so what?" Of course, you couldn't trust them, how could your paranoia not interfere. "It's not my problem that you don't trust them." I scoffed.
"And you do?" He asked.
"Not completely. But Victor and Daniel did come to find us for a reason, and it's nice having non-you-company." I explained. "Plus, don't you think we should find out why they're here?"
"From what I gathered last night, they need an Alpha to follow, so they found me." He said.
"And me." I chimed in. "I'm an alpha too." I paused for a moment pretending to remember something. "Oh, that's right you already knew that, didn't you?" I asked him rhetorically. He looked down as if he was hoping I didn't know that. I laughed, "They don't have to follow you, Klaus."
"And what makes you think they'll follow you?" Klaus asked me as he walked up to me. We were nose to nose again, and he was looking down at me since I was a bit shorter than him.
"I never said they would, Niklaus," I told him, using his first name which I could tell it took him by surprise. "But that doesn't mean they automatically follow you, but if we're speaking honestly, who do you think they would rather follow? The paranoid self-centered madman who has no regard for them and who would kill them at the drop of a needle, or me, someone who has bothered to learn about them and has offered them a place to live."
"You barely know them, Alex," Klaus said.
"I know them quite well, considering how they told me their backstories last night," I said.
"Yeah, and what pray tell were they?" Klaus asked.
"Why don't you go ask them yourself?" I suggested then turned and walked out of my bedroom.
I heard Klaus talking to someone on the phone in my room, and I pulled out my phone to text Stefan. 'You're running out of time. ' I texted him. I then clicked on Damon's contact and texted, ' You need to move the coffins. I can't stall Klaus forever.'
Once I was in the library, I poured myself a drink as I waited for a response from my brothers. I heard Klaus walk down the stairs behind me and felt his breathe on my ear as he wrapped his arms around my waist. I grabbed my drink and went to step out of his hold, but he tugged me closer into his chest.
"Where are you going, darling?" He asked me, and I pushed his arms off of me in response. I then sat down in the chair farthest from him in the library. I checked my phone and Stefan had texted me, ' Don't let him out of your sight, then. ' But Damon hadn't answered me. I then sighed as I took a sip of my drink.
"Still angry about Mikael, love?" Klaus asked me, and I looked up him.
"Would you be angry if you almost died?" I spat. "Oh wait, I already know that answer. You would be a psychotic mess on the warpath. I'm just trying to be better than you."
"You seemed to have forgiven Damon-"
"What happens between my brothers and I is none of your concern," I told him. I looked outside to see it was almost dark.
My phone buzzed as I got a text from Damon. ' Tell Klaus where the coffins are. I only had time to get the locked box out. ' I texted back, ' Undagger Elijah. ' ' Why? ' Damon asked. ' Because Klaus won't see it coming. Now do it.' I looked back up at Klaus with a smile.
"Looks like it's your lucky day," I told him, and Klaus gave me an amused smile in return.
"How so?" He asked.
"Your coffins are in an old witch's house in the middle of the woods," I answered, and I watched as Klaus's faced tensed up in disbelief.
"You're lying," Klaus growled, and I stood up.
"No, I'm not," I said. "And to show you that I'm not. I'll take you there." I then made my way to the front door with Klaus following behind me.
~At the Witch's House~
I walked to the clearing to see the old witch's house. "See," I said to him. He stopped and looked at the house before we continued walking towards it. I walked in front of him as I lead him down to the basement where the coffins were. There were lit candles everywhere, but the coffins were still invisible. I stood by the wall as Klaus walked in and stood next to me, looking around the room with a smirk.
"Still hiding the coffins behind your witchy friends," Klaus spoke openly to the room. "And in squalor, no less." The candles lit up immediately after that remark and Klaus fell to his knees. I crossed my arms as I watched him.
"Insulting a bunch of dead witches...not smart." I chuckled.
"Well, you know, the funny thing about witches is, that living or dead, they care about their own." The witches seemed to make his headache worse when he said that. "A hundred dead witches have a thousand living descendants…" He held one hand to his head, in pain, as he shouts, addressing the room, "And I have no problem," Klaus started to stand up, still in pain. "Killing every last one of them, if I don't get my coffins back. As we speak, my hybrid friend is prepared to end the Bennett line." Klaus seemed to be in pain for a short moment before the candles die down suddenly and the witches ended their spell. I looked around annoyed at the spirits. Klaus walked up to me, and I gulped, slightly nervous. "Now…" He said and addressed the room again. "Please...show me the coffins."
The coffins appeared, and I watched as Klaus looked down at the first three with a smile. "Here we are," Klaus spoke softly. He then looked up, excepting to see the fourth, and noticed it was missing. "Where's the fourth?" Klaus asked as he looked at me. I looked at him with a tiny smile, which made Klaus speak to the witches again. "Show me!" I walked along the side of Elijah's coffin.
"Well, eh -" I walked to were the fourth coffin used to be and Klaus observed me. "Here's the thing. They can't. It's not here." I told him.
"What did you do?" Klaus asked me as he walked closer to me. I began to walk to the other side of the room as he came closer to me.
"Well, originally my part in all this was only to stall you," I explained. "And I'm glad I did because we did need to talk about the arrival of Victor and Daniel." I explained as I walked away from him, "But as for Damon," I paused. "While you were upstairs in my room, making that little phone call to your hybrid slave," I stopped walking when I was close enough to the only exit in the room. "Damon came here, and sadly didn't have enough time to get all four, but he did have enough time to get one." Klaus looked both furious and frustrated with me.
"I will kill everyone you love." Klaus calmy threatened as he began to walk towards me again.
"Sorry." I snarled. "The same rules apply. You know, leverage and all." He stopped walking a few feet away from me and looked even more annoyed. "We know you want your family back, but something tells Damon and I that you want what's in that coffin a lot more." I elaborated, with a smirk. "I guess it sucks when your trust is broken." I then walked out of the witch's house and sped home as fast as I could.
~At the Boarding House~
I walked up to the boarding house and heard someone following me. I turned around expecting to a furious Klaus, ready to kill me, but instead, I saw Tyler standing behind me. "What are you doing here Tyler?" I asked him, slightly pissed off. I still wasn't over the fact that he bit Caroline, even though I knew it was entirely his fault.
"I need your help," Tyler said desperately.
"And why should I help you?" I asked him as I crossed my arms.
"I was with Caroline and her dad today," He began to explain. "Caroline's dad told me what to do to break my sire bond with Klaus, and they were helping me break it today, but when I turned, I ended up hurting Caroline's dad and putting him in the hospital."
"So, what do you need me for?" I asked him.
"I need a place to hide from Klaus until I break the bond completely and I was hoping that you knew of a place where I could go." He said unsure of what my answer might be. I thought about it for a second and then the promise I made to Mason popped up in my head. I sighed before pulling out my phone and dialing her number.
" Hello? " She asked.
"Is this Hayley Marshall?" I asked, wanting to make I was talking to her.
" Who's asking? " Hayley asked.
"It's Alex, you and I met in Tennessee when you were looking for Ray Sutton," I explained. "Look, my friend needs your help. He's sired to Klaus, and he knows how to break the bond, but he needs a place to hide so he can do it without Klaus finding out." I paused. "And I was hoping he could come to stay with you and whatever pack you are with while he does this?" I asked.
" Well, " She sighed. " I guess I do owe you for stopping me from entering that bar or I wouldn't be alive right now. " She answered, and I smiled. " I'm in the Appalachian Mountains with the Deep Water pack. " She then hung up, and I looked at Tyler.
"Go to the Appalachian Mountains and look for the Deep Water pack. When you're there ask for a woman called Hayley Marshall. She'll help you as you break your bond to that psychotic Original." I told him, and a look of gratitude came across his face.
"Thank you, Alex." He said.
"No problem, but you should probably get going before Klaus realizes you're gone," I told him, and he sped out of my sight. I then walked into my house and saw Damon standing in front of the fireplace. I got myself a drink before I sat down on the couch and took a sip.
"Alaric and Meredith are dating," Damon said, and I choked on my drink as I looked at him.
"What?" I asked him and then Stefan walked through the door. I turned to him, and he looked at both of us.
"Oh, you're both still alive." Stefan closed the door behind him. "I assume, that means Klaus didn't get his coffins." He said to us.
"Don't look so happy; I was only able to get one of them out in time. The locked one." Damon told him.
"Probably a good choice." My little brother retorted.
"Yeah. You know, if you're banking on Bonnie's momma to open it, you're screwed." Damon said. "She doesn't have any powers."
"Nah, doesn't surprise me. It's been that kind of night." Stefan said.
"Tell me about it," I muttered as Stefan began to walk away.
"Is Elena okay?" Damon asked him and before I knew it Stefan turn around, and punched Damon in the face. Damon's entire body bent over from Stefan's punch, and I immediately speeded in between them to stop them from fighting, because that was the last thing we needed.
Damon held his cheek as he spoke, "I take it you two had a heart-to-heart." Damon groaned a bit as he turned around, letting his hand drop to his side when he saw me standing in front of him to stop Stefan. "And I take it; you don't wanna talk about it. Noted. So why don't we talk about this?" I turned and saw Damon holding a silver dagger in his hand.
"What did you do?" Stefan asked, and I smiled at Damon.
"He undaggered Elijah," I answered and turned to Stefan.
"Why?" Stefan asked.
"Because I told him too," I said. "Klaus won't ever expect we did that, plus Elijah won't be happy to see Klaus, and that's an understatement, considering how Klaus daggered him in the first place," I explained and then went upstairs to my room.
