I don't own any characters in the Percy Jackson universe which is rightfully owned by Rick Riodan. However, the Greek gods and/or other mythological figures are used in my imagination and well you can't claim copyright on history.
Chapter 30
The next day I decided to train a little and take a quick break and go home. It was my birthday after all. The morning was great. Artemis told me she wouldn't accept fooling around so Annabeth and I were split up. We ate breakfast, courtesy of me. Artemis decided to train Annabeth as I had been and I decided to do her a little favor. I went to go visit Hephestus.
"Percy, what may my services do for you today?"
"Well, just another bow."
"Did you somehow manage to break the unbreakable bow?"
"No! I'm not that destructive. It's for Annabeth."
"Ah."
He takes the blueprints from my hand. Hers was more simple in terms of use. After all, she didn't have many abilities being the daughter of Athena (no offense Athena) besides building super smart and a fearsome warrior. Weaving to I guess but when was the last time you ever saw a person weave with a bow. The bow was made of silver with owl designs right above and below the grip. The arrows were made of olive tree wood and the fletching was owl feathers. (please don't call PETA, no owls were harmed in the process). Around the base of the quiver was an engraved design of the roman colosseum. It was simple yet beautiful.
"Well, here's the finished product."
I inspected it. Of course, I expected it to be perfect. It had been made by one of the best blacksmiths in the world he even added his own touch to it. He made olive trees for the owls to stand on. The bow was really lightweight despite being made of pure silver. When I focused it turned into a silver ring with gold designs. It was perfectly made.
"Thanks, Hephestus."
"No problem. Let me know if you need anything else. By the way, the quiver has the same ability to generate augmented arrows just like your own quiver."
I nod thanking him one last time. I reappear on the field where I had trained with a bow, now where Annabeth was currently learning. Artemis notices me but doesn't mention anything to Annabeth.
"Alright, good position. Now try firing whenever you're ready." Artemis instructs.
Annabeth pulls her arm back to fire, but just before she does I sneak up behind her.
"Boo."
She jumps and misfires, the arrow going way off course.
"Wow, that was horrible."
Artemis just laughs. I could swear she was getting less and less murderous these days.
"Percy, I hate you," Annabeth says with fake anger in her voice.
"Okay, we all know that's not true," I say while giving her a little kiss.
She just blushes and looks away. I pull out her gift from my pocket.
"I got something I want to give you," I said as I handed her the ring.
"It's a nice ring." She responds.
"It's more than that. Focus and imagine that the ring that you're holding is a bow."
She closes her eyes and concentrates. Suddenly, she's holding a silver bow and a silver leather quiver is hanging off of her back.
"Wow, it's beautiful. I was wondering where you went this morning."
"Alright, enough chatter. Percy since your here, you will be joining the session." Artemis interrupts.
"You are such a party pooper."
"Percy, you have big promises to live up to. Fortunately, Annabeth is much smarter than you and she isn't the main priority right now."
She was right. In exactly a year I had to fulfill possibly the largest prophecy in history. I take out my bow and fire off 5 shots. Unfortunately, only 4 of the 5 hit a bullseye. Artemis smirks as I just proved her right. After a couple of hour's worth of training, we decided to pause for a lunch break.
"Happy birthday, Percy," Annabeth says with a kiss.
"Happy birthday," Artemis grumbles.
"What I didn't hear you. Can you repeat what you just said?"
"I said happy birthday you asshole."
"Wow, such hostility. Are you on your period?"
"Percy, if you don't want this to be your last birthday, then I suggest you shut up."
"You sure are grumpy. And here I was thinking you were finally loosening up."
I could actually feel the anger radiating off of her. She glares at me but doesn't say anything. If she did retaliate then she'd only be proving my point. I went over to her and kissed her. She just blushes and turns away as Annabeth giggles.
ARTEMIS
"Alright, lunchtime is over. I want to see you and Annabeth spar."
"What? That's not fair. I'd totally beat her." Percy says with a stupid tone.
"What was that, seaweed brain? You want me to mop the floor with our face? How can I deny that request."
I just laugh at the silliness unfolding in front of me. I was surprisingly taking the idea of sharing a man very well. It also meant another person to trust in watching and making sure, Percy wasn't doing anything too stupid. I swear he had the powers of so many gods and goddesses and he was still stupid. It's like Athena's blessing couldn't catch up to the speed of his stupid antics.
"Stop arguing or I'll put you in timeout. Now follow me to the clearing."
"Timeout? What are we in 3rd grade? I don't think I was put in timeout even in 3rd grade." Percy grumbles.
"I think you seem to forget that I can indeed hear you. And you might as well be a 3rd grader because you certainly act like one." I responded.
We come to the clearing and Annabeth and Percy step onto the clearing.
"You may start whenever you guys are ready."
Percy uncaps his sword and Annabeth pulls out her concealed dagger. Percy charges Annabeth feinting at her. Annabeth doesn't even care about the feint and ignores it. It was a smart move because once you fell for a feint, that was when the opponent has an opening. Annabeth swipes towards Percy's face and he quickly dodges. The knife whooshes by his face but since it was the smaller and lighter weapon, manages to recover and block his swing. And then something I didn't expect happens.
"You look incredibly handsome today," Annabeth whispers.
Percy lowers his guard for just a second. In the blink of an eye, Annabeth had already taken advantage and Percy was in a chokehold with a knife to his throat.
"I yield."
Annabeth releases him and he coughs.
"That wasn't fair. And how come I only look handsome today. Why not every day?"
"Oh, stop complaining. You're just upset that you lost to me."
"I agree. She distracted you and you let your guard down. It was smart. Learn something from her." I pointed out.
"This is a load of cap."
"I don't care. You lost so deal with it like a man. Now, get up stop complaining, and have another bout."
He grumbles and gets up obviously salty over his loss. He was a great swordsman I couldn't deny that much. However, he was naive and easily distracted. He was also too straightforward, not relying on trickery and quick thinking as Annabeth. He hefts his blade and thinks suddenly there was a glint in his eyes. Annabeth charged blocking Percy's first swing and going in for a punch. Percy dodges and kicks her making her lose balance. She quickly recovers and ducks as Percy swings at her.
"Oh shit. That's a huge ass spider!" Percy yells.
"What where? Where?! Get me away!" Annabeth screams and jumps into Percy's arms.
"Just kidding. By the way, you lose."
Annabeth doesn't register what Percy had just told her, still searching for the spider. It was simple but smart. Children of Athena had a natural fear of spiders and to use that against her was very effective.
"And that's Percy's win."
Annabeth was a better sport although a little teasing was done.
"Well, you actually managed to do something smart, seaweed brain," Annabeth tells him with a kiss.
"Alright Annabeth, you're fighting me," I told her.
"Uh, it's my first day. Is that really necessary?"
"Yes. Percy fought me and he almost even almost won."
Percy steps off the clearing and I step on. I decided to make it fair and use my own knife. I ran at her and jumped. She rolled as I came in for a kick and she swiped her dagger towards my legs. She had barely left a little scratch. I grinned and let my guard down on purpose. She paused not wanting to take the opportunity. It was smart, after all, if she had I was expecting it and would have retaliated. She was a good fighter but eventually, it became a situation of rinse and repeat. She was smart and used it in her fighting, but her attacks were obvious. In the first few minutes, it would be challenging to fight due to her ability to think of tactics but once she found a tactic, she refused to move from it. Probably because of some stubborn genes that Athena has. She throws a kick that I saw coming so I grabbed her and flipped her. She lands on her back and doesn't get up.
"Well, Arty won. I'm gonna go. Annabeth, you okay?"
"Yeah, give me a minute." She takes a few deep breathes and gets up. "Alright, I'm ready. Just a few bruises. Should we go?"
Percy nods and walks over to me and kisses me.
"We'll be back. I'll Iris message you if anything happens."
He grabs Annabeth's hand and walks into the shadows. Life really was getting interesting. And to think there was going to be the third one still bothered me.
PERCY
I appeared at my front door because my mom hated it when I randomly appeared in the living room. Besides, Mr. Blofis was in there and I didn't want to leave a bad impression and a probable heart attack. I knocked.
"Who is it?"
"Mom, it's me. I brought Annabeth with me if you don't mind."
"No, of course." She opens the door. "It's always great to see you Annabeth!"
She hugs Annabeth in a tight embrace.
"Ah, the birthday boy is here. And who may you be?" Mr. Blofis asks appearing behind the door.
"That's Annabeth. A long friend and currently a girlfriend." I answered.
He nods and lets us in.
"Mom, can I talk to you?" I asked nervously.
I wanted to come clean about this 2 girlfriends situation.
"Sure, Paul can you keep Annabeth company for a bit?"
"Sure thing."
We walk into my room and she closes the door. I take a seat on my bed and she drags a chair over. She looks at me as if she knew what I was about to tell her was going to be crazy.
"Mom, I want to come clean. Annabeth isn't my only girlfriend."
She stares at me in pure shock. Then she starts hyperventilating. She opens her mouth but no words actually come out.
"What happened to the Percy I knew? Are you even Percy?"
"Mom, in defense they both came to me."
"So who's the other one?"
"Artemis?" I told her reluctantly.
"You have got to be kidding me. You're bothering the maiden goddess? Percy, I don't know what to say. I want to talk to her so someday you're going to bring her over. Do you hear me?"
"Uh, yes. After next year?"
"You better or you're living at camp year-round. Call Annabeth over here for me. Stay in the living room with Paul."
I quickly got out of my room and called Annabeth.
"Yeah?"
"My mom wants to talk to you..."
"About what?"
"You should go find out."
She looks at me confused and walks over to the room.
"What's that all about?" Mr. Blofis asks.
"My mom will tell you eventually, Mr. Blofis."
"You can drop the Mr. Blofis thing. Call me Paul."
"Isn't that disrespectful?"
"Not if I allow it."
I nod and I turn as I hear my door close. I would be lying if I were to say that I wasn't scared.
End of chapter 30. This update was supposed to come sooner but I got lost in the world of Dr. Phil. Sorry about that. Thanks for reading!
