The Outcasts

Every cat is an outcast in their own way, but these four apprentices a little more than others. Hazelpaw and Silverpaw stick out in Mapleclan for their problems, where in Smokeclan Smokepaw and Nightpaw struggle separately, though they'd never admit that to each other. Smokepaw is picked on for his size and Nightpaw knows that she'll have to prove herself in more ways than one.

27. Chapter 26: Silvershine

Chapter 26:

Silvershine opened her eyes and stood up. She stretched, yawned, and looked outside. The sun was setting and the moon was rising. She padded outside of the Warriors' den and looked around.

"Silvershine!" A voice called. Snakewing was beckoning her over with his tail. Silvershine padded over to him.

"Snakewing yes?" Silvershine asked him. He hesitated for a second and the took a deep breath.

"You're on border patrol with Stonesplash, Cherryheart, and Mistystream." Snakewing meowed. Silvershine nodded and noticed the three cats standing by the entrance to the camp. Silvershine padded over to them.

"Finally, we can go." Stonesplash muttered under her breath. Cherryheart rolled her eyes.

"Let's go." Mistystream meowed. "We're marking the SmokeClan border."

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join beneath the high ledge for a clan meeting!" Eaglestar yowled.

"I guess we're going to have to wait to patrol." Cherryheart shrugged and sat down near the high edge. Silvershine saw that Hazelpaw was sitting by herself and Silvershine padded over to her.

"Sit here can I?" Silvershine asked. Hazelpaw nodded and Silvershine sat down next to her.

"Furzekit, Snowkit," Eaglestar started. "Come forward."

Two kits hurtled out of the nursery and Silvershine purred happily.

"Furzekit, you will now be known as Furzepaw." Eaglestar meowed. "Your mentor will be Creekpelt. Snowkit, you will now be known as Snowpaw. Your mentor will be Snakewing."

The two apprentices touched noses with their new mentors.

"The cats going to the gathering tonight are, Silvershine, Stonesplash, Flameclaw, Cherryheart, Creekpelt, Snakewing, Furzepaw, Snowpaw, Lightningpelt, Hazelpaw, Swiftnose, Tinyfeather, Frogstep, Sandpaw, and Miststripe. Meeting dismissed."

Silvershine glanced at Hazelpaw, who was smiling.

"I'm so happy that I can go to the gathering!" Hazelpaw exclaimed and Silvershine nodded.

"Silvershine!" A voice meowed. Silvershine whipped around and saw the rest of the patrol waiting for her.

"Bye." Silvershine meowed to Hazelpaw and padded over to the patrol.

After the tiring border patrol, it was time to go to the gathering. Silvershine padded to the gathering next to Hazelpaw. Furzepaw and Snowpaw kept messing around and heir mentors kept getting after them. Silvershine purr with amusement when Snowpaw accidentally ran into her. The group finally reached the gathering and Silvershine sat next to Hazelpaw.

"It is time for the gathering to begin!" Deerstar meowed. The other two leaders nodded and the clans sat down.

"We have some new warriors." Shadestar meowed. "Smokeblaze, Littleleap, Redscar, Willowface, and Crowtalon have become warriors. And Spottedtail has given birth to three kits, Tawnykit, Turtlekit, and Blazekit. Also, Olivepaw has become an apprentice and was apprenticed to , my deputy Tigertalon mysteriously died and Ashstripe is the new deputy."

"Hm." Eaglestar meowed. "I have some new warriors too Silvershine, Berryheart, Stonesplash, and Flameclaw have become warriors, Snowpaw and Furzepaw have become apprentices and are apprenticed to Creekpelt and Snakewing."

"Also, one of my warriors was murdered by a MapleClan cat!" Shadestar hissed. The clans gasped, except for Smokeclan.

"My warriors would never murder a cat." Eaglestar hissed. "Unlike yours. One of your apprentices, now warriors, tried to murder one of my apprentices! This means war…..MapleClan, attack!"

At first, everyone was so confused that they didn't do anything at first. But then they realized that Eaglestar was serious and started attacking the opposite clan. AppleClan left the gathering, not wanting to get involved in the fighting. Silvershine saw Hazelpaw struggling with a black apprentice that Silvershine recognized as Crowtalon. Silvershine ran over to Hazelpaw and helped her defeat the young warrior.

"Thanks." Hazelpaw panted. Silvershine nodded and moved onto another young warrior.

"MapleClan!" Silvershine heard Snakewing yowl after a while of fighting. "Retreat! Eaglestar is dead!"

The MapleClan cats stopped and stood still for a moment. Then they realized that Snakewing wasn't joking and they ran out of the gathering place. Silvershine noticed that, even though the two lans had broken the truce, StarClan had not covered the moon with clouds. That's unusual, Silvershine thought as she ran out with the rest of her clan. I wonder what that could mean.

Well… Eaglestar has made some poor life choices. Let us know in the reviews who you think killed her. I think it's pretty obvious but whatever. Make way for Snakestar! Anyways, have a good day (or night) and keep writing!
