The next few months went by and both Charlie and Jaycee were close to their due dates. Both pregnancies had been normal with no complications. And John couldn't have been happier about that or the fact that he and Jaycee were having a little girl. Charlie was being pampered. Phil was taking such great care of her. He brought breakfast into the bedroom and kissed her waking her up.

"You spoil me." She replied as she woke up.

He smiled. "And that's my right as husband and father."

She smiled. "It won't be too much longer and our baby will be here."

"And I can't wait." He replied. "I can't wait for our baby to be here and for us to be a family."

She smiled. "And you're still okay with finding out in the delivery room if its a girl or boy?"

"Yes." He laughed. "I know Jaycee and John wanted to know but I'm fine with being surprised." She smiled and put his hand on her belly. "The best things in life are surprises."

"Yeah, they are." She smiled.

"So, Jaycee called and said she's on her way over."

"Why is she on her way over?"

"I have no idea." He replied. "She just said she was on her way." Just then, there was a knock on the door. "I'll go get that." He said and headed to the front door. "Why are you here?" He asked his sister.

"Well, hello to you too," Jaycee said and walked in. "I came over because Carol is planning a surprise baby shower for Charlie and I was in charge of kidnapping her to bring her to it."

Phil smiled. "I'll tell her you want to go shopping."

"Thanks." Jaycee smiled. They'd had her baby shower a few weeks earlier.

He nodded and headed to where Charlie was. "Hey, Jaycee wants to take you shopping."

"That sounds awesome."

"Good. Then get dressed. She's waiting for you. And I think she wants to take you out for a nice lunch, so dress nice." Charlie smiled and got dressed.

"Alright, Jaycee, let's go," Charlie said when she walked into the living room.

"You look beautiful." Jaycee smiled. "Ready to go shopping?" Charlie nodded and kissed Phil. "See you later," Jaycee replied as they walked out.

Charlie got into the SUV and they headed toward the restaurant where the baby shower was taking place. "Lunch too?"

"Of course." Jaycee smiled.

"I feel special."

Jaycee smiled. "I'm glad."

They walked in. "Surprise." Everyone said as they did.

"Oh my gosh. You guys..."

"Are you really surprised?" Carol asked her daughter.

"I am. I can't believe you guys did this."

"Well, you are having my grandchild," Carol replied. "And I have waited years to have you a baby shower." Charlie smiled. "Now, let's start this shower."

She nodded as they put her in front of everyone. "Now let's eat and then we can play games and open presents," Jaycee said to the group. Charlie smiled as they sat there. Her mom brought her food and they were soon playing the baby shower games.

"Are you sure you don't want to know the sex?"

"No mom." Charlie laughed. "I want to be surprised."

"Alright," Carol replied.

"This has been such a great day."

"Yes, it has." Jaycee smiled.

"But I'm actually getting pretty tired."

"Well, then let's get you home," Jaycee replied. Everyone helped put the gifts in the SUV and they headed toward her place.

"It was such a great day."

Jaycee smiled. "I'm glad you had a great time. Now all you have to do is get ready for that baby."

Charlie smiled. "Phil has been hovering."

Jaycee laughed. "That's good. He's being a concerned father to be."

"Yeah. You know this is all I've ever wanted."

Jaycee smiled. "And I'm glad you're getting it. And that my brother got his head out of his ass and realized how much you and that baby meant to him."

Charlie laughed. "Me too."

Jaycee smiled as she pulled into the parking lot of the apartment building. "I'm really glad you enjoyed the shower."

"It was an amazing day."

Jaycee smiled. "Well, let me help you take some of these things in. Then we can make the guys get everything else in." Jaycee smiled.

They both headed to the apartment and walked in. Phil came out of the kitchen and smiled. "How was the shower?" He asked.

"It was great," Charlie replied. "And we have a whole SUV full of gifts that you need to bring in."

He kissed her. "You rest. I'll bring the stuff in." She nodded as he left.

"Well, I better head home. I'm very tired." Jaycee said as she hugged her. "If you need anything call me." Charlie nodded and hugged her. Jaycee smiled and headed out. She was glad that everything was working out for Charlie and Phil.

Phil came back in with the stuff. "We got a lot of stuff." He replied as he put it down.

She smiled. "Everything we need for the baby." She replied. "Everyone really went all out."

"Because they love you and you deserve it."

She smiled. "It's just nice that they did this."

He smiled back. "And now all we have to do is get ready for our baby's birth." She smiled and kissed him.

Jaycee pulled into the driveway of the house and started in. She stopped just as she started to have some pains in her stomach. Ethan opened the door and ran out.

"Mom, are you okay?" He asked her.

"No, I'm not." She said breathing through the pain. "Call 911 and your dad and tell them I'm having the baby."

Ethan ran into the house and called John and 911. He also called Phil and Charlie. He ran back to where Jaycee was. "Dad is coming and the ambulance too. Uncle Phil and Aunt Charlie are meeting us there."

She nodded. She looked at her son. "I'm going to be alright. Your baby sister is just ready to meet you."

"Hang in there sis." She smiled when he said it despite the pain she was in. She couldn't help but think to when she had Ethan. She was worried she would have the same with this baby.

The ambulance came. They put Jaycee into the ambulance and Ethan too and headed to the hospital. Once they were there, Jaycee was taken back to an exam room. She was hooked up to the fetal monitor and examined while Ethan was in a chair nearby behind a screen.

"Is everything okay?" Jaycee asked the doctor.

"Everything is fine. You're dilated to 6. Shouldn't be long now."

Jaycee nodded. "Is my husband here yet?" She asked the nurse.

"Let me check." The nurse said as she left the room.

Ethan yelled. "You okay mom?"

Jaycee had to laugh a little bit. "I'm okay." She said to him. "Your dad and Aunt and Uncle should be here soon." She breathed as another contraction hit. There was a knock on the door.

Ethan went to it and opened the door. "Hey dad"

"Hey, slugger." He said as he walked in. "Grandma and Grandpa are out in the waiting room with Uncle Phil and Aunt Charlie, why don't you go and see they will buy you some candy?" Ethan nodded. John walked over to Jaycee. "How are you and the baby?"

"Fine but in some pain," Jaycee replied.

"No meds yet?"

"They want to wait until I'm dilated more." She said as the doctor came in.

"Let's see how it's going." He did a quick exam on her. "Alright, you are at seven. So, let's get you some pain meds."

"Is everything okay?" John asked him.

"Everything is right as it should be." John nodded.

"I told you everything would be okay," Jaycee said to him. John nodded. "You know, we never did agree on a name for this little one."

"Baylee Charlotte."

She looked at him and smiled. "I love it. It's perfect." He smiled too. "I'm ready for her to come."

John smiled and nodded. "I'm ready too." And he was. He was ready for their little girl to come and he prayed there were no complications.

Charlie looked at Phil. "Worried about Jaycee?" She asked him as she looked at Ethan who was reading a book.

Phil nodded. "A little. But she'll be okay."

"Yes, she will." She replied. "This pregnancy has been easy. So, she will have an easy labor too."

Phil nodded. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm feeling good." She replied.

"Good." He smiled. He leaned in and kissed her.

"When is my baby sister going to be here?" Ethan asked them.

"Soon sweetheart."

"Well, she needs to come soon." He looked at them. "Was I this slow when I was coming?"

Charlie laughed. "No. You've always been impatient."

"Is that why dad was so worried while mom was carrying my sister?"

Charlie nodded. "Yep. That's why."

"He worries too much. I think he stressed mom a little bit." He replied. "But she and my baby sister will be okay right?"

Charlie smiled. "They'll be fine." Ethan nodded and went back to his game. Phil took her hand. He smiled and they waited for news on Jaycee and the baby.
