I don't own any characters in the Percy Jackson universe which is rightfully owned by Rick Riodan. However, the Greek gods and/or other mythological figures are used in my imagination and well you can't claim copyright on history.

PERCY

Chapter 31

My mother and Annabeth walk out of the room laughing and I relax a little. They take a seat.

"Paul and Percy. Can you prepare the drinks and food?" My mom asks.

"Alright, c'mon Percy," Paul answers before I could protest.

I stopped and followed Paul. we decided to get the lemonade ready. It was pretty much already made, we just had to mix the ingredients together.

"So, your mother told me a lot about your … other life."

"Did she? How much did she tell you?"

"Enough to make me think that maybe all the things I've seen weren't crazy nonsense. I always convinced myself that the things I saw weren't real. That all changed when your mom talked about you."

"Uh, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing."

"Don't think about that. I'm just saying it boggles my mind. Well, let's take the food out."

He carries the drinks and leaves. I noticed that the oven was on and I peered inside. My mom had been baking my favorite blue chocolate chip cookies. I pulled the cookies out and since I had powers over fire, I could hold the recently baked cookie and eat it. It tasted heavenly. I could swear she had some kind of powers when cooking.

"Percy? Are you eating the food in there without bringing it out?"

"Uh, maybe?"

"Well, can you come out with the food and eat it here?"

I heard Annabeth snicker while I brought the cookies and nachos out. My mom went back into the kitchen to take the cake out of the fridge. We were starting to eat when the doorbell rings.

"I wonder who that is? I don't remember inviting anybody else."

She goes to open the door and shrieks in surprise. I hear muffles talking.

"I didn't know you'd come!"

"It's only once when a kid turns 15, of course, I'm going to show up."

She has a little conversation with who I assumed was a relative.

"Percy! You should come to see who it is!"

I got up and walked over to the door. I was really surprised to see that my dad was standing there. My mom was fawning all over him. It was really ironic. She was complaining about 2 girls that came to me and here we see my mother currently dating a man sitting in the living room yet all over the man at the door.

"Well, Percy are you going to let me in?" My dad asks.

"Yeah, come in," I told him.

He walks into the house once again with a Hawaiian shirt, loud swim trunks, and sandals. My mom seemed like she was in shock that he was still here. He was an Olympian god and the ruler of the sea so he wasn't able to stay and interact with me until I got to know about the reality of my life. My mom hadn't seen him for longer than I had and it did make sense that she was shocked.

"You know, for getting upset over me having 2 girlfriends, you sure are doing the same exact thing."

She snaps out of it and blushes. I closed the door and we both entered back into the living room to find my dad talking with Paul.

"Who might you be?" Paul asked.

It was natural he probably didn't know him and the fact that my dad looked like he was on vacation didn't really help any matters.

"I go by the name Poseiden."

Paul really must have seen and heard some shit because he didn't look shocked at all. He just nodded.

"Like the Greek god of the sea. Among other stuff like making horses and stuff."

"Uh, yeah." He seemed a bit confused that he wasn't surprised or groveling or anything.

I led my dad into the kitchen for a second and poured him some lemonade.

"He sees through the mist yet he doesn't seem surprised that I'm here." He says in a daze.

My dad seriously didn't take well when being ignored.

"This is all still kinda new to him. You aren't going to like break down the block are you?"

"Calm down, son. my little brother would definitely. I wouldn't do that and besides today's a good day. Come on let's go and enjoy some time together."

We left the kitchen to join the others. We ate and had fun playing board games.

"This is a great day." My dad chuckles.

"Sure is. If this were Sparta, Percy would be a man today." Paul responds.

He was starting to be more comfortable around my dad. And even though his forever rival was Athena, he was getting along great with Annabeth as well. He was a little too good at monopoly though, and it made me suspect that he was cheating.

"Alright well, I should get going. Do you guys mind if I borrow Percy for a moment."

They all shake their heads. He leads me to my bedroom.

"Percy, you know that the time to fulfill the prophecy is coming right around the corner. Are you prepared?"

"Yeah of course. Artemis is a great teacher."

"That's great to hear. Is there anything you would like for your birthday?"

I think hard. I wasn't a greedy person but I did think of something.

"A magical trident."

He laughs loudly. I thought for a second he would turn me down.

"Well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree does it. You already have a bow, a sword, and a bunch of magical powers and you want another weapon?"

"The more the merrier?"

"Alright, I'll see what I can do. For now, take some sand dollars."

He hands me a large sand dollar and I remembered what it could do.

"Why do I need this for?"

"I don't know. But, you are a resourceful kid. I know you'll find a use."

He gets up to leave and I can't help but notice something about my dad seemed older.

"Dad, why do you look so old? You could appear to be any age you want." I asked reluctantly.

"Percy, there is still a lot of things you don't know about the sea. Sadly, my realm isn't safe. It seems Oceanus has sided with Kronos. The number of attacks my mermen suffers from is great and my appearance reflects the sea. Old and scared."

"Let me help. I want to."

"No, you are needed here. Goodbye, son. I am proud of you."

He disappears in a flash and I'm left wondering what the future has in hold for me.

"Percy, the candles are set."

"Coming!"

We cut the cake and ate some. I snuck in some cake to my room to save for later. Suddenly, I sensed a presence appear. It felt dark and cold and I immediately knew it was Nico.

"How do you know where I live?"

"Actually, shadow traveling doesn't require the location only. You could use a person's face. By the way, is that blue cake?"

"Yeah, it's my birthday. Stop standing around and come on in."

Nico hesitates but his face betrays him. He was looking at the cake hungrily.

"You know if you don't come now all the food will be gone and I'm telling you my mom is like some secret cooking goddess."

"Are you sure? I didn't even know it was your birthday."

"Aw, it's fine. C'mon." I turned and opened the door. "Hey mom, remember Westover hall? Well a friend from that retrieval missions here, that's fine with you right?"

"Sure, come on down." She yells back.

"You heard her. Now hurry up my mom hates waiting."

"Thanks. But, we have to talk later. I have a plan."

End of chapter 31. Thanks for reading and leave a review. The next chapter is going to be based on the mini-story of the key of Hades.
