June, April, May, Huey, Dewey, Violet, and Webby were preparing for the final confrontation.
"Okay, I've got a couple of weapons I stole from Scrooge, a map, my phone, and a first-aid kit in case anyone gets injured…hopefully not." June told April.
"Come on, let's go!" May cheered, "To adventure!"
"No, NOT to adventure, because we need eyes on us on all times. First, one of us is going to sneak into whatever this place is underground and plant night-vison cameras in there so we can still see if it's dark. Next, we'll look through the footage and see where the amulet is being kept. Then, we'll go to Magica and Glomgold's lair and break the amulet, get Louie back inside his body, defeat Magica and Glomgold, and come back as heroes!" Huey puffed up his chest, proud of himself.
June rolled her eyes, "Sure man, sure."
"And, you know, not possibly die?" April laughed nervously.
"Oh. And that too, I suppose." Huey rubbed his arm.
Violet asked, "So, who's planting the cameras?"
Everyone looked at Webby.
"Why is everyone looking at me?"
"You can climb walls; have a grappling hook, and night vision goggles. You're perfect you're the job." June said.
Webby grinned, "Yeah! Let's do this!"
- Later-
April handed everyone walkie-talkies, "We need codenames."
"Ooooo, how about The Great Ray Of Sunlight?" June struck a pose.
"No." Everyone said.
"The Beautiful Buttercup?"
"No."
"The Super-Duper-Rich-Mega-Awesome-!"
"NO!"
June crossed her arms, "Then what should I be?"
"We all need something that we can understand…" Huey stroked his chin, "how about you're Juniper Wood?"
"No, I hate that name!" June groaned.
"Everyone who votes for Juniper Wood?" Dewey smirked.
Everyone except June raised their hands.
"Ughhhhhh, FINE!"
"I'll be Red Hue, Violet can be Purple Galaxy, May can be A-may-zing, Dewey can be-"
"Wait, why did I get the lame codename?" June whined.
"Quiet!" Huey snapped, "As I was saying Dewey can be Dewdrop-"
"Dewdrop? What? Noooooooo!" Dewey wailed.
"Serves you right." June grumbled.
"Too bad so sad it's Dewdrop, deal with it." Huey continued. "April can be Sweater Weather-"
"What?!"
June and Dewey deadpanned, "Welcome to the club."
"They're just fake names, people!" Huey rubbed his temple, "And Webby will be…Pink Terror."
Webby cheered, "YAYYYYYY!"
"Why does she get the cool name?" Dewey whined.
"Because- because whatever!" Huey huffed, "Anyways, are we saving Louie or what?!"
"Oh yeah, sure, I'm just going to leave Louie at the hands of an evil sorceress and billionaire madman so he can wait for impending doom to strike!" June said sarcastically.
Everyone stared at her.
"What? It's a joke. You can laugh now."
Everyone laughed nervously in an awkward style.
June rolled her eyes.
"Anyways, here are the cameras so you can put them up around the place, and here's the map, so you can go to the exact coordinates of the place." Huey handed Webby the cameras, and she put them inside her backpack. He strapped a camera to her head and plugged a wire into the computer, "Okay, and this is so we can see what you see. We're not going into battle unprepared. We need to get to know our surroundings."
- Time Skip-
Webby stared at the place looming above her- a narrow tunnelway with "KEEP OUT" signs all across the entrance. She was at the downtown part of Duckburg, which was kind of like St. Canard in some ways. It was oddly similar to the abandoned subway tunnel, in the sense that it was forbidden to enter, and that it was dark and spooky. The duckling crouched, crawling through the tunnel. She stopped, getting out a small reading light and shining it over the map, then looking back at the scroll in her hands.
"This is the right location." She confirmed, staring at the darkness in front of her. She got out her night vision goggles, strapping them on her head. Something squelched under her, and she realized, revolted by the discovery, that it was some kelp-ish substance mixed with water. The "kelp" provided absolutely no padding for nor her knees or her hands, making the stones underneath her graze her knees as she crawled.
"This is Red Hue to Pink Terror, status?" Huey asked over the walkie-talkie clipped to her skirt.
"Currently crawling through some strange tunnel downtown. Over."
Webby got a small camera out of her backpack and stuck it on the wall, "Okay, I've planted one here. Over."
"Great. Keep putting them around the place. Over and out." The walkie-talkie played static for a few seconds then went silent. Webby continued crawling. The tunnel reeked of an unknown chemical, and Webby wrinkled her beak in disgust. She stuck a few more small cameras around the place and kept on walking.
Suddenly, her hand didn't touch the ground but instead swiped through air, and Webby looked down to see that there was a hole underneath her. Voices were coming from it.
"I honestly thought the McDucks would be here by now! I want them to come so I can rip their little heads off! Oh! Especially Scroogie's! That'll be fun."
Webby immediately recognized and registered the voice in her head as Magica's.
"I want to rip McDuck's head off!"
Was that Louie's voice? Webby peered down in the hole, realizing that she no longer needed the goggles because there was a faint but certain light coming from the hole. The tunnel had stopped here, but someone had extended it with pieces of wood. The duckling saw that Magica was talking to Louie. Or, at least, someone pretending to be Louie, and Webby thought that it was probably Glomgold.
"No, I'm going after Scrooge!"
"What? No!"
"Fine, we'll split him like we tried to do last time. But I get the top half." Magica grinned morbidly.
"No! That's the part that screams!"
Yup. Definitely Glomgold.
Webby put a camera on right in front of the hole to spy on them.
Just as he wood cracked and gave way underneath Webby's weight, "Aaaaaahhhhhhhh!" She fell all the way down, "Oomph." Webby groaned, getting up onto her feet when she saw that she was standing face to face with Magica De Spell.
"Oh look, if it isn't Webby Vanderquack." The vile sorceress grinned.
- At McDuck Manor-
"Pink Terror? Pink Terror? You there?" Huey asked on the walkie-talkie.
No one responded.
Huey shot June a look, "Okay, we need to get there as fast as we can. Look through the camera footage Webby put around and we can see if there was a passageway we can go through that maybe she missed where we can get around to Magica and Glomgold without them seeing us."
"Already on it." April opened her computer and started playing the footage. The screen was split into several frames; many of the cameras were set up in total darkness, but the night vision feature on them allowed April to see what was going on.
"Okay, so there's the hole Webby went through is here." April paused the footage and pointed to a gap in the floor- if it could be called a "floor."
"Wait. There's something in that frame." June pointed to the frame on the left, where another hole was, "There's a passageway here too! We can sneak around back!"
"Let's go!" May cheered.
"Wait. Not so fast." Violet put her hands on her hips, "Everyone can't go. We need people to stay here. That way, there's less of a chance on of us will get caught- and knowing these villains, probably used as bait to lure Scrooge."
"So then who is going?" Huey asked.
"Hmmm….how about May, June, and Dewey? We can stay here unless something bad happens, in which case, we'll have no choice but to come over.
"Okay, come on people, let's go!" Dewey was about to run out of the door when he just remembered, "Oh, wait, the weapons!"
"Oh cool, a gun!" May picked up a rifle.
"How did you even manage to steal these anyway?" Huey poked at an axe.
June shrugged, "A con-woman never reveals her secrets."
Huey scowled.
"Dude, I got them from the garage, chill. Scrooge really needs to start locking that door."
May pretended firing it, "Pew, pew, pew, pew!"
"Careful-! Oh wait; there aren't any bullets inside it." April rolled her eyes, "That's GREAT."
May shrugged, "they don't know that. Plus it looks cool. I'm taking it."
Dewey chose a small knife, May got the gun, and June decided on going without a weapon, solely because she was too lazy to carry one.
- At The Tunnels-
June and the others had managed to track down the coordinates, and were now crawling through the tunnel. June motioned to the passageway, "Here's the hole. Let's sneak in."
The three ducklings jumped and landed in another room, "Webby?" The room was dim, but bright enough so that they could actually see their surroundings, unlike the tunnel they had crawled through to get there.
Webby was fighting Magica in front of them. Both of them were so absorbed in the fight they didn't see the ducklings behind them.
"Um, Magica-" Glomgold/Louie started.
"Not now, Glomgold!" Magica hissed, holding Webby back with her scepter, "Get off of me, foolish child!"
Webby rammed into her, "Hyah!"
"What are we doing? Attttaaaaccckkkkk!" Dewey yelled, throwing himself into the fight along with May. June just stared at the scene, lost.
Glomgold/Louie smirked, walking towards the girl. He held a sword in his right hand. Grinning cruely, he brought the sword down on June's head.
June flinched, knowing that there was no way she could react in time to save herself. To her surprise, the impact didn't come, and she looked down at her hands to see that they were glowing green and yellow. The girl gasped, noticing that a magical force field had formed around her.
"What? Magica, you never told me that the girl had powers!"
Magica scowled, throwing a screaming Dewey off her back, "How was I supposed to know?!"
June snapped her head around at something glowing inside the room. The same aura was being emitted by the object, a yellow and green light. June raced to the light source, realizing that it was the amulet.
Glomgold/Louie threw himself at her, and she barely dodged the Scottish/South African duck's grip. June panted, smashing the amulet against the ground.
Louie's eyes turned from red-and-black back to their original color. He gasped, "I'm back!"
"Come on!" June grabbed his arm, trying to escape, but there were walls on each side of the room.
Glomgold, this time in his actual body, emerged from the shadows.
She gulped.
- At McDuck Manor-
Della sighed, flopping down on the couch when she heard a "clink!" that signaled the door had been opened. She ran to the front of the house, seeing that they must have been in a rush because the door was left wide open.
"Dewey…?" She bent down and picked up Dewey's phone, which was next to the door. Waddle Maps was open on the browser, a specific coordinate entered.
She narrowed her eyes, "Hubert Jet Duck, you've got some explaining to do."
Huey bit his beak, walking downstairs, "H-hey mom…" he laughed nervously.
"Where's Dewey? And why are you going to some creepy tunnel downtown?"
Violet came down next, "It's more complicated than you think…"
"Then explain it to me. What's so important that you leave the door open?" Della wondered, motioning to the doorway.
Violet and Huey looked at each other, "You see, we've kind of been doing our own little investigation about Louie…"
Della's eyes widened.
"We know where he's kept and-"
"Why didn't you tell me any of this?!" Della fumed, but tears shone in her eyes.
"We couldn't! We didn't want Scrooge shutting down our investigation-"
"What investigation?" Scrooge, Donald, Beakley, and Launchpad were now in the room.
"We'll tell you on the way…June and the others need our help!" Huey said.
- At The Tunnels-
"Hey, listen man, maybe we can, ya know, sort this out, and, um, you can spare our lives…" Louie laughed awkwardly, holding June's hand.
Glomgold banged his cane on the force field, "NEVER!"
Scrooge burst into the room, "Flinty." He glared at him. Behind him were Beakley, Launchpad, Della, and Donald.
"Scroogie. What brings you here?" Glomgold sneered.
"You know what brings me here. You kidnapped Louie!"
"Oh yes I did, and I'm proud of it!" Glomgold boasted.
The adults threw themselves into battle, and June looked around wildly, seeing that Loue wasn't holding her hand anymore, "Louie?"
Magica was holding the duckling up against a wall, "Muhahahahahaha! Oh Scroogie! Watch as your beloved nephew disappears before your very eyes!" She snickered, holding the scepter to Louie's head.
Everyone looked around wildly, not knowing what to do.
Suddenly, June threw herself at Magica, "don't you dare touch him!"
"I don't have to listen to you, girl!" Magica spat, struggling with the duckling.
Glomgold ran at Louie, but May blocked him, holding a gun out to him, "Not so fast."
Glomgold backed up, and Beakley took advantage of the time Glomgold was hesitating to call the police. In a minute, officers were escorting both Magica and Glomgold out of the room.
"Curse you McDuck!" Glomgold shouted.
June looked at Louie, "Are you okay?"
"Y-yeah…" Louie stammered, still shaky from the fight, "Hey..thanks…"
June laughed, "Anytime."
Louie broke the happy mood, and started crying, "I'm sorry…I'm sorry for dragging you into this mess."
June rested a hand on his shoulder, "It's not your fault, and you know that."
Louie stared at the floor, "He made me…the Evil Louie made me…"
"What…?"
"I just…he was right…I'm good for nothing…I just…I make bad stuff happen…and when I try to be helpful, I always end up failing. There's always a downfall." More tears flowed down Louie's cheeks. He started singing:
(To the music of "Waiting In The Wings")
"We're all born with parts to play
Some people are stars, but I'm just in the way
I know I'm not much
I know there are people better than me
But maybe, I thought, that could change, that maybe to the music I could sway
But every path I try to take, I'm always left in a faze
While other's get all the praise
And yet I keep on waiting
I draw inside all the lines; I played it safe so many times
But I just made it worse!
Or maybe I'm just a curse…" Louie stared at his feet.
"I'm always left waiting in the wings!
I hear my calling
Yet somehow I'm kept there waiting
Know everything expected of me,
But still I stand there, waiting
Huey serenades,
Dewey sings,
But I'm always the one left waiting in the wings
And so I keep on pushing on,
My chances are there, crystal clear
But then they just disappear
They don't know it, but it stings." Louie rolled up his sleeve, wincing as his fingertips touched the scars on his arm.
"Oh yes it stings!
I try and shed no tears,
But I'm not brave
I try and keep on pushing on,
But I've got a limit,
And I've reached it
Still, I keep on waiting,
I don't care how long the silence rings,
I'll still be there waiting in the wings.
Oh,
I'll still be there, waiting in the wings."
He looked up at June, wondering what she would think of him now. She wouldn't understand.
Or would she?
"Louie, there's only one Louie. And that Louie is you. So it's time to let go of him. Your mind just created him because you were lonely and scared. He's gone." June hugged him, and Louie stood there for a second, surprised.
Then he hugged back.
Della watched, smiling. Once they broke out of the hug, she walked up to her son, "Hey, Lou."
Louie looked away.
"Look, I know I messed up, big time. Not you: me. I led the aliens here. I stole some dumb rocket and spent years of my life on the moon because of that…I missed you boys. I'm still new to this, and I'm sorry I made you feel this way, and that I made you cut yourself. I love you."
Louie hid his arm behind his back, still glowering at her.
"Please, just give me a chance."
Louie still didn't look at her, "Why should I after everything you did to me?" He snapped coldly.
"Louie, I-"
"Let's just go home. I don't want to talk to you. Ever. Come on, June."
Della watched as Louie put his hands in his pockets and stormed outside. June stared after him and then shot Della an apologetic look, running to catch up with him.
Maybe the adventure was over, but Della knew she still had a lot to make up for when she got home.
And it sure wasn't going to be easy.
Ya thought I was done? Nope! XD XD XD
Also, to Guest, sorry it took me so long to use your song request! I just had to figure out a good place to put it lol.
