Robby pov
Clarke and I walk back into the dropship. I sit down on the cot and just stare at the wall in shock as tears stream down my face. Clarke plops down next to me and starts sobbing. I put my arm around her and she cries into my shoulder. I'm trying to be strong. I know it's what my dad would want. Also Lincoln always said warriors don't cry until the war is over. I do everything in my power to hold back tears, but it doesn't work. I sniffle aggressively and lean my head onto Clarke's and let them fall. After a few seconds I struggle immensely and hold them back.
"Clarke I'm so sorry," I say with a broken voice.
"So am I," she responds.
"I'm gonna find Bellamy and get a salvage team to examine the wreckage. Robby I'm sorry, but your gonna have to stay because your to injured," Clarke says through sobs.
I nod. I don't think I could face finding my father's burnt remains right now. I spent so much time hating him, but of course when I want to hug him, he's gone. I just walk out of the dropship and start wandering aimlessly. Someone gently touches my shoulder. I turn to see Finn and Raven on either side of me. I just look at them broken and hurt.
"Come on," Finn whispers in a gentle tone as he leads me to our old tent.
He always knew when I was about to cry and would lead me away from a public setting.
They walk me in and we sit on his cot. Ever since his injury he got an upgrade from a sleeping bag to an actual cot. Raven hugs me tightly. We hear someone enter the tent. I look up to see Octavia in shock. I told her about my conversation with my dad and how we could finally have a relationship one day on the way back from training. She simply runs up and hugs me. I finally break down. The tears come fast and I sob like a baby. Finn puts his arm around me and Raven rubs my back and I sob into Octavia's shoulder.
"I'm sorry. I trying to be strong. I have no right to be sad when y'all have experienced so much more pain than I have," I say between sobs.
Raven's dad, both of Finn's parents, and Octavia's mom were all floated and they figured it out. Here I was, the spoiled rich kid balling like a baby to people who have gone through so much worse.
"I shouldn't even be sad right now. Y'all have all gone through so much worse," I repeat with a broken voice.
"No Robby, you deserve to have emotions and it doesn't matter who you are. We all grieve just the same," Octavia says.
I bury my face in her shoulder and cry silently.
"Robby we all love you and would do anything for you. One day itl get better. My cure was you and Finn. Y'all gave me family when I had none. We'll always be family because we're not going anywhere. I promise," Raven says and hugs me.
"We're here for you man," Finn says.
"Always," Octavia follows up with a soft whisper.
Finn joins the group hug and I hold on to the three people I love the most in the world for dear life. Once I calm down, the four of us spend the night in the tent telling our life stories. Octavia and I were snuggled together in a blanket in one corner, while Finn and Raven were snuggled on Finn's cot. We relive old pranks and tales. Octavia tells us all about her life with her mother and Bellamy. I've heard it all from when we were in skybox, but it feels nice to hear it again. I tell them about the good times with my dad, even tho there were few, but I relished those moments. All of our good times from watching sports or old movies. Even the time we laughed about these jokes people put on the web called memes. We laughed about how stupid they were, but also how hilarious some of them got to be.
"Clarke should be here with us she just lost her mom," I say sadly.
"Should we get her?" Finn asks.
Raven looks annoyed by this.
"She has Bellamy," Octavia says.
"She did say she was gonna look for him after the crash," I say.
We decide to dismiss it and keep telling stories. Octavia and I talk about our time in the skybox.
"You two were totally meant for each other," Raven says smiling.
"I guess it was fate," I say as Octavia and I lock eyes.
She snuggles closer and I kiss her head.
"You know he tried to tell me his last name was Collins at one point," Octavia says with contempt.
"Wow Rob, identity theft, really?" Finn says jokingly.
"Well, to be fair, Kane isn't exactly a universally loved name on the ark. Especially in the sky box," I say.
"It's all good buddy. I know my last name is just that awesome," Finn says in a cocky voice.
"Robert Collins, has a decent ring to it," Finn follows up shrugging.
"O, I guarantee if I had told you my name was Kane, you would've spent the next year sending nothing but death threats my way," I say.
"I don't know honestly, but what I do know now is that I'm in love with you so things probably worked out for the best," she says and kisses me.
"Get a room," Finn says smirking.
"Oh please I've walked in on you and Raven too many times to count," I say.
"Ooookayy, definitely didn't need to know that," Octavia says in a lighthearted manner while looking uncomfortable.
We all laugh.
"Okay I have to tell y'all about Pikes class right before we got sent down here," I say with enthusiasm.
"Did you write egghead on the board again?" Finn asks excitedly.
"Cmon Finny, you can't pull the same prank twice dummy," I say in a lighthearted tone.
"You can if you don't get caught," Finn says.
"The only reason I got caught was because Clarke snitched on me," I say.
I tell them about Murphy and Jasper in Pike's class. I tell them about how he flipped the hell out on the last day and tried to beat up Murphy.
"He probably had it coming," Finn says.
"I wonder if he's still alive," I say deep in thought.
"Probably not," Octavia shrugs.
"Either grounders got him or he lost it and killed himself," Octavia follows up.
"You know, maybe what we did was unfair," I blurt out.
"What?" Finn and Octavia say in unison.
"I don't know who this Murphy is so I'm stayin out of this," Raven says putting her hands up.
"Think about it, we hung him for a murder he didn't commit. He was angry because everyone wanted to just give her a slap on the wrist. When Murphy actually wanted to get justice, we banished him," I say.
"He made Charlotte kill herself," Finn says shocked.
"Charlotte was never right in the head. She killed Wells and she would've killed me next," I say.
"I seem to remember you trying to defend her," Finn argues.
"She was a kid. I didn't want Murphy to kill her. I wanted her to answer for what she did, but to also get help," I defend.
"I also didn't want Murphy to get hung either to he honest. He was a piece of shit, but he didn't deserve that," I say.
"I dunno. It doesn't matter he's probably dead or laying in a cave somewhere starving," Octavia says.
"Charlotte was a kid Robby, what punishment did you have in mind?" Finn asks suddenly getting angry.
"I know. I don't know maybe keep her away from people in your bunker for a while and have Clarke or someone talk to her. Lead her in the right direction. Oh yeah and forbid her from touching sharp objects," I say.
"Yeah that would've been better," Finn says.
"Coulda shoulda woulda," Raven says.
"I agree. Let's drop it," Octavia says.
Finn gets out a deck of cards then we decide to play. I win the first game, Finn wins the second, I win the third, then Raven wins the fourth, and we continue for a while. We eventually decide to call it a night. Octavia and I head to our tent.
"Your not that tired are you," I ask hinting at something.
"I think we should celebrate unity day despite the whole disaster," she says seductively.
After we finish we're laying in our sleeping bag. I'm caressing her hair. Our naked bodies are snuggled together closely.
"I have to say, it feels great even when I'm injured, but we probably woke up the entire camp," I say.
"Of course we do this when I'm injured... again," I say laughing.
"Injured or not, your still very good in the sack," Octavia says giving me a teasing look.
"Well I tend to let you do the work," I shrug jokingly.
"You took an arrow for me today. I never got to say thank you," she says.
"You don't need to. I'd do it again a thousand times," I whisper softly.
"If you died today, I would've never forgiven myself," she says
"Well I didn't die so there's that," I say jokingly.
She snorts.
"Happy Unity Day O," I say softly trailing my finger up her arm.
She rolls over to face me with a smile.
"Happy Unity Day Robby," she whispers then she leans forward and kisses me.
