As its nearing the end of summer, I thought I should give a progress report on Shimmer Through the Woods.

I had hoped to have finished this story during this summer, however covid put a stop to that. Not that I have had the disease myself, nor has anyone else close to me - as far as I am aware - its just that the lockdown situation meant that I had nowhere as near as much time on my own as I thought I would.

The influence of other people and their moods have had quite an effect on my mental health. There have been a lot of days when I have been too depressed, too fed up, or too angry to write.

Looking back on it all, I am amazed I managed to finish my ou module for the year. Thank the Force that is only part time. The one blessing of covid was that it cancelled the exam I would have had to take. I hate exams and I doubt I would have passed the module this year if it had not been cancelled. Contrary to the popular opinion of the press, exams do not always produced the best from a student.

So, status report. Chapters 23-26 are done. Chapter 27 is WIP. Chapter 28 is done, a chapter from Artoo's perspective, which proved easier to write than the romantic obidala reunion that is keeping Chapter 27 from being finished. Chapter 29 is WIP. Chapters 30-35 are plotted but not written.

I have another ou module to start in October. It is finally focusing on one of the parts that my degree is meant to be on, creative writing, so maybe that will inspire me. I cannot make any promises. I have two stories WIP for the OVOC assuming that takes place next year, which also need to be finished by Feb, so they will take priority.

As I have said before, I do not wish to post what is left of this story until I have finished writing it. It may take a while, but I do not want to leave it unfinished, even though I am struggling with it at present.
