You Can Leave Your Hat On-Ch 31
The group stayed together laughing and talking for over an hour before Derek tried to hide a yawn with his hand and Fran said, "well baby boy we're going to head to our hotel so that you can get some rest". Derek said, "I'm okay momma, really you don't have to go", Fran said, "you're exhausted and you need your rest".
Derek looked up at her and she said, "you know better than to argue with me", he sighed and said, "yes mam" as he intertwined fingers with his future bride. Fran hugged them both and then looked at Penelope and said, "how about we get together after my son gets out of the hospital to start planning that wedding"?, Penelope smiled happily and said, "sounds good to me Fran".
Sarah and Desi then hugged their brother and soon to be sister-in-law and Desi said, "it was so nice to finally meet you Penelope and I can't wait to have another sister". Sarah then hugged her and said, "I couldn't have said it better myself" and Penelope grinned and said, "it feel so good to know that soon I'll have four sisters".
Derek smiled as Penelope glanced to JJ and Emily and then said, "not only do I have JJ and Em but I now Sarah and Desi" and Fran said, "and don't forget about me, you have me too". Penelope wiped away the tears that were streaming down her face and said, "it's been so long since I've had a mom, it just feels really good, ya know"?, Fran pulled her into her arms again and said, "I know honey, I know".
The team all hugged Derek and Penelope and then made their way out into the hall with Fran and the girls and then everybody turned around and glanced at Derek and Penelope all cuddled up on his bed. Fran sighed happily and whispered to her daughters, "he looks so happy doesn't he"?, they both glanced at their smiling brother and said, "he does momma, he really does" as they all then made their way toward the elevator.
Derek, meanwhile looked at his bride-to-be and said, "why don't you go home and get some rest"?, she kissed his lips and said, "I'm not going anywhere handsome, you're stuck with me tonight, well, unless you don't want me here with you". Derek pulled her down for another kiss and said, "of course I want you here but you are exhausted and you need your rest", she winked at him and said, "I love you".
He smiled and said, "and I love you", he then wrapped his arm tighter around her and said, "how about we get some sleep"?, she looked into his tired eyes and said, "sounds like a plan hotstuff, a very good plan". She rested her head against his and in a matter of a few minutes she had drifted off to sleep.
Derek sighed happily as he looked at the sleeping goddess in his arms, he had been waiting on her all of his life and now that he had her he wasn't going to let her go, not now, not ever". He then kissed the top of her head and said, "I can't wait to make you my wife and spend the rest of our lives together".
As he held her in his arms he realized that he came so close to losing everything, to losing her, their lives together and any future family they could have. He blew out a deep breath and said, "but nobody, not Savannah or anybody else is going to keep us apart, not now or ever".
It was only a matter of a few minutes before he joined Penelope in some much needed sleep
