The day had finally arrived, it was the day of the 7th Years Masquerade Ball. The tent that we had set up next to the Black Lake looked spectacular. Pretty fairy lights were placed everywhere with bright and colourful strings of jewels hanging down from poles around the tent. It was magical and a perfect end to our final exams. Although it was sad, this would also be a night to remember.

The ball was to start at 7 o'clock. Hermione and I had made an agreement with Harry and Ron that we wouldn't see the for the entire day. We were to meet them at the ball, donned in our gowns (sadly) and masks. As I had little to no fashion sense what so ever, Hermione had agreed to style me, we had gone dress shopping the previous weekend and I had to say I actually liked the dress I got.

Hermione and I had a relaxing morning, without the boys. Who knew it could be so peaceful. Then at 4 o'clock we headed to Hermione's dorm to get ready. I honestly didn't understand why we needed three hours though. Anyway we went up and layed out our gowns and accessories. Well Hermione's accessories, I'd convinced Hermione that I didn't need any and that a dress was enough dressing up for me.

I looked in awe at my dress, I couldn't wait to see Harry's expression when he saw me in it. I hadn't shown him yet. The dress was perfect for me, It had built in shorts under the fabric. It was a long emerald green gown with a large cutout back. Together with that Hermione and I found some 'not so high" high heels, then she charmed them so that they felt like sneakers. If she didn't I would most likely fall flat on my face.

Hermione's dress on the other hand was completely different, well in colour at least. Her's was a sweet burgendy colour with a lacey boddess and a lowish back. She had large Purple earrings and a flowery purple head piece to accompany it. She also had burgendy high heels which made her look heaps taller.

We got changed, and we were both really happy with our looks, mine was so comfy I could have slept in it. Not saying that I will. Hermione did each of our hair, then she applied a little bit of makeup to each of us. I couldn't tell you what she did, but my face felt full of gunk. I couldn't tell her that though.

Together with our gowns we also had our masks, coloured accordingly to them. We both looked really good, actually that may have been an understatement.

"Ginny, you look... Unbelievable." Hermione stuttered, "Harry is actually going to faint." I giggled, I couldn't wait to see his reaction.

"I could say the same for Ron too, Mione. You look so hot!" I told her. She did look hot. Hermione giggled,

"Shall we then Gin, it's almost 7. The boys will be waiting." I nodded, then we linked arms and walked out of Gryffindor tower together. We were to meet Harry and Ron down at the ball.

Harry's POV

"Ron, do you have any clue what their wearing." I asked Ron as we waited for the girls to come down to the ball.

"No, Hermione refused to show me, she said Ginny was going to look hot. I just hope we can recognise them with those stupid masks, whose idea was that." Ron replied.

"We will, and Ron, Ginny always looks hot. She could wear tracksuits for all I care. Although, seeing her in a dress would be amazing."

"Mate, I think she will be in a dress. I mean she's head girl and dating you. Shes's gonna get attention, she wouldn't be able to wear tracksuits without it getting all over the Daily Prophet."

"Your're probably right. Hey is that them!" I said pointing out two girls, one with a purple dress and brown hair, the other with an emerald green dress and red hair.

"Who else could it be." Ron and I walked up to them to greet them, it was them alright. Ron and I stood in front of them speechless, goggling over them. Ginny's was... um... well she was undescribable. The dress showed her toned musclular arms and back, most likely from Quidditch. The dress made her look beautiful and I couldn't believe that she was mine. I think Ron was just as in awe. He hadn't stopped looking up and down at Hermione. I couldn't blame him, I'd never seen her look so pretty.

Hermione and Ginny giggled, "We get that we look unbelievable and all, but honestly don't we always. Stop goggling over us for asecond and work out that it's just us." Hermione said, still giggling.

Ron and I snapped out of it. We took the girls hands and led them into the tent.

"Ginny, remember when I said you looked beautiful that first date night." She nodded, "Well now, um.. you look gorgeous."

She grinned, "Thanks Harry. Although I was pretty dissapointed by your reaction. I was expecting you to faint. I mean I am wearing a dress, for the first time."

I put my hand to my forehead and pretened to faint. Ginny giggled again, it was my favourite sound.

"Can you please take that mask off Gin," I asked, I really wanted to kiss her but unless I wanted green glitter all over my face and in my mouth, it wasn't going to happen.

'Nah, I'm waiting until after the first dance."

"But why?" I whined.

"So other girls can hook up, why else. Guys are pretty dumb. Unless they knew the girl really well, their is no way one of you guys could recognise them. So if a girl wants a guy, this is the night to get him."

"Have I ever told you how smart you are Ginny Weasley, although I am not dumb."

"I realise that, You recognised me didn't you."

"True that!" I smirked. "Can we start the first dance now."

Ginny thought for a moment. "I suppose, why not. I mean we are in charge of this thing aren't we."

I led her out to the dance floor and we signallled to 'The Weird Sisters' to start playful some slow, but upbeat songs. Everyone else led their new found partners onto the dance floor. I looked around the tent and almost pissed myself laughing when I saw Draco Malfoy. He was dancing with a girl who I was pretty sure to be Lavender Brown. He was going to freak when he found out.

Ginny and I waltzed in our spot on the floor, Ginny's hands around my neck and her head in my shoulder. My hands around her waist playing with the small of her back. I could feel her smiling into my shoulder at that action. I continued looking around the tent, when I saw Hermione and Ron. They were in a similar position to us except Ron's lips were in Hermione's hair. They were so cute. Ron had actually planned on proposing to her shortly after leaving school, I couldn't wait they were so perfect for each other.

I looked back down at Ginny. "Gin, I really want to kiss you." I whined

"And why can't you," She asked smirking.

"Because I don't want green glitter in my mouth, and knowing me it will probably end up in my hair."

"You're such a wuss Harry Potter. You and your hair." I grinned I loved when she told me off. "Anyway, the song will be over soon, and if my charm has worked correctly, every mask on every girl in this tent will fall off and the magic can begin. I can't wait to see people's reactions, I saw Malfoy with Lavender Brown, Dean with Susan Bones, Neville with Hannah Abbott and Seamus with Parvati."

I nodded, excited as well to find out what would happen. The song finally ended and Ginny's charm worked a treat. The masks on all the girls faces dropped off and all was reveiled. I heard a lot of people gasp, the loudest being Draco. Everyone turned to him, he looked embarrassed. Lavender looked happy with herself, then Draco lent down to her ear and whispered something. The two then left the scene hand in hand.

"Wow, didn't think Lavender would be Draco's type." Ginny said to me.

"I didn't think Lavender was anyone's type." I told her. "Hey, Gin? Do you want to go down to the lake for a walk."

"Bit eager Potter, I thought you wanted to kiss me."

"True that, but I want to tell you something." I led her out of the tent and down to our favourite tree.

We stood in front of it in silence for a moment, I then turned to her, leaned down and kissed her with all my might. She was my everything and I was going to tell her that. I backed her up into the tree, my arms around her to bring her closer and to protect her back from the bark, her hands rogue in my hair.

Now was the moment, I brought my head away from the kiss and whispered,

"Gin."

"Harry?" She said mockingly.

"I love you." I said straight up, I'd said it before but this was the real time. I waited for her to reply, did she love me? Or had I been to soon, to sudden? She then looked up at me, her signature smirk playing on her face.

"I love you too, Potter." She stood up and kissed me with more intensity than ever before. We stayed there for hours enjoying each others company, After all it was quite possibly the last time we would ever be at this spot, we needed to savour it and spend it in the best possible way.
